I was placed in the west wing of the hotel which is the older part and not connected to the rest of the buildings. It's not very convenient to drag luggeage through the hotel up and down a handful of stairs, take 2 elevator rides then walk through the casino parking lot to get to your room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Set your expectations low"
We were just passing through Reno and needed a bed to sleep in. We chose the Peppermill for its value and high ratings. My recommendation is to not expect too much from this. For us it served its purpose but I'm glad it was only for a night. Our room was clean enough though yellow carpeting and furnishings showed signs of staining. Check-in & Check-out were speedy. Location convenient to airport, immediate surrounding area looked run-down. I had problems accessing the fitness center. My keys worked fine everywhere else except for the fitness center. I talked to Mike at front desk first to inform him of the situation. He cut me off & didn't want to hear the whole story. He issued […] me new keys, so I went to the fitness center immediately after that, both keys still didn't work. I went down to the front desk again & talked to Kevin. He had accused me of putting my keys too close to my phone (which was not the case). Then he said that he has no idea why they wouldn't work & that it had to have been something I did. I informed him that I had tried 4 keys & none of them had worked. I suggested that it may have to do with the card reader for the fitness center. He kept stating that it was my fault & not the fault of the card reader. “We don't have malfunctioning equipment." After much prompting, he told me to meet the engineer by the fitness center. Waited 10 minutes & he still hadn’t shown. Only ½ keys worked at that time. 1 hour later, both keys worked fine. They had 2-for-1 drink specials in the Fireside Lounge. Instead of waiting til I had ordered both drinks, they ran my credit card twice & charged me for both drinks. I stayed in the north wing & was assigned a room that was under the skywalk. This was the best, most relaxing stay we've had in a very long time, and our first visit to Reno. While we only planned to stay for 1 night and get massages before heading back home to Oregon, we extended our stay in the first 20 minutes. Two issues. Room reservation made in June for Sept. for a Deluxe 2 king bed suite was not available at check- in. Would had to change rooms after first night to get the desired suite. "Beautiful hotel, but rooms are lacking"
The Peppermill is an absolutely beautiful hotel itself, but the rooms leave something to be desired. First off, the air conditioner was very noisy, and secondly, the refrigerator was already fully stocked which left no room for our personal food or drinks. If you pick up anything out of the refrigerator for 45 seconds or more due to the sensors underneath […] the items, the hotel automatically charges you. They need to provide an extra refrigerator for the guests as most people eat out and have leftovers, or want to keep their drinks cold. Also, the room was very small, even with the two of us we were constantly bumping into each other. The condition of the room was okay, seemed to need some carpet cleaning but overall it was clean. The second day we stayed no one came to clean our room, and since there was no door hanger to hang to request room cleaning , we had to call the front desk which they promptly sent someone up. The hot tubs were extremely hot, way over the normal limit. The hot tubs were unbearable to the point we couldn't stay in them, they had to be at least 110 degress or more. I did enjoy the pools and lounges and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was great. The restaurants are very expensive, so we had to leave to go out to eat. It would be nice if they provided restaurants with more casual dining & cheaper costs for the guests. Their tray of snacks in the rooms also have sensors underneath them & the cost is ridiculous. They charged additional "resort fees" when I checked in +- $17/night. Dont forget to add that to the "deal" on Hotel.com. Other than that extra charge the resort is very good. I thought you had good facilities but your service really needs some improvement. One night of our stay we came home at 11 pm and wanted room service. "not as good as hoped"
This is not an hotel for the middle class. the hotels pays attention to how one is dressed, ie. the better you are dressed the faster, better response one gets. Also, if a manager notices that you are drunk and have one of the resorts ten -fifteen dollar drinks they also will do whatever you ask of them. I stayed there with my three kids. There is no fridge or microwave that you can use with out being charged. The meals at the resort restaurant are very pricey - for a family of five (kids only 10, 9, 7) had to get two of there big pizzas because one large only feed 3 people. A group of drunk socialites in front of me requested robes be sent to their room. Response " of course". me next in line when asking the same question " they are not available". The resort is an illogical maze of elevators and escalators to get to lobby, room, car, restaurants. From room had to elevator to main level, walk by two restaurants, pool, wedding chapel, go down escalator to get to front desk, more restaurants, outside, then go up an escalator to get to arcade and parking garage where you have to take elevator to get to your level. As a guest you are not allowed to handle luggage carts- ever. Bags get delivered to your room for a fee plus tip or you have to deal with the luggage on your own. It's probably one of the nicest casino/hotels in Reno, however I was pretty disappointed about the overall service. Housekeeping did NOT make our beds (only replaced shampoo and towels), our key stopped working multiple times and it was always a huge hassle getting a new key made (walk 10mins to lobby and back, wait in line for 10mins+ at reception). Well, we stayed at this Hotel 4th of July weekend and again for Labor Day weekend. The Hotel is nice. However, my biggest beef is with the Valet and Bell desk. Their service is so bad that my party of 7 has decided that we will stay at Atlantis Hotel and Casino next time. They are so unprofessional, terrible attitudes and worst of all so disorganized. […] The only difference from 4th of July to this past weekend is that didn't loose our car this time. It just boggles my brain that this 4/5 star hotel would have such incompetent staff working in Valet/Bell Desk when those are the first people you see when arriving at the Hotel. For some reason once we received our room number, I went and had our car pulled back around because they had already parked it, when it did come 15mins later I gave the valet my ticket, he then tells me I can get a cart for you but I can't take it up to your room fine. Then we get a bell hop to load our luggage and I give him our room number, then we leave and go up to our room(T1127). I then wait for 1 1/2 for our luggage but it still hasn't arrive. So, I call the bell desk and the gentleman was so rude. He said well we need you tell us what room to deliver the luggage to. I then say, I was standing with my luggage as the kid loaded it onto the cart and I gave him my room number, I even watched him write it on the claim ticket. Anyway, it's just so frustrating. "All in one resort"
I was very pleasantly surprised with how nice the hotel was. My room was No. 545 and beautiful. Had a great view of the pool, which was awesome looking. Unfortunately, was in town for family event, so I didn't get to use the pool or hang out and sunbathe. My only disappointment was the fact the room didn't have a refrigerator for one to put drinks or […] perishables, other than the one provided by the hotel fully stocked with expensive provisions. Also, most hotels provide Q-tips and cotton balls, which they didn't. Nothing too major since I brought my own ice chests and Q-tips, etc. The food was great and I loved the little boutiques on site. Nice hotel, but additional $16 fee per room in addition to taxes? The restaurants all close at 10pm with the exception of one. The food t this place was mediocre and expensive. Well cocktails were $9!!!!! I was surprised that in a second rate gambling town they were trying be be like Monaco or Vegas. Also- the mini bar and snack tray have sensors that […] charge your room if you pick anything up. I had looked at the snacks, but them back on the tray and was charged 25 dollars. I had to argue to get this charge waved. They didn't mentioned I had additional expenses, I asked for a detailed receipt and they grudgingly gave it to me. "Don't Let The Outside Fool You"
Driving up to the Peppermill I was honestly scared. It looked dated and really old. The whole family was concerned I had picked a bad hotel. Once inside though it was a different story!
