"Not the worst"
Typically I thoroughly enjoy Holiday inn express hotels. This location however is dated and not as clean looking as the others I have been too. When I arrived there was one person checking people in and about six people in line, it took me about 25 minutes to check in. While I was with the young lady checking in she must not have read my reservation […] correctly And proceeded to charge my card for the entire reservation when I've already paid for it on hotels.com. Thank goodness it didn't go through but nothing was hurt except for my pride! I told her that It was just supposed to be incidentals that I already paid she looked it up and found that I was correct. No harm no foul, she was busy so I understood. I proceeded to my room, which was much less than to be desired. I mean the bed was comfortable but the decor and overall appearance was very dated. Would I stay here again? Only if it was on sale and as a final option. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is ideally located. Literally a stone's throw to 5th Ave and 1 1/2 blocks to Times square. We walked almost everywhere, The rooms were tiny, but except for the worn rug, they were clean and comfortable. The lobby/breakfast area was also tiny but functional with a good and varied breakfast. I was able to purchase and print out museum tickets […] at the free computer kiosk. Overall, this hotel met our needs very nicely. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Prefer Holiday Inn Express on 39th St"
(1) No ketchup...they didn't run out, they don't carry it. (but there are eggs offered!!) For me that killed the usefulness of the breakfast. The free breakfast is pretty good - IF you can maneuver your way around people - the area is MINUTE (not tiny, MINUTE). (2) Rooms are smaller than what we've experienced - on par with the small rooms in the Club […] Quarters hotels. Lower level rooms are bigger - we were assigned there first, but curtain was black and being below ground was oppressive so we moved. Bed was comfy. Towels, toiletries were fine. Shower was fine but you cant adjust the pressure or angle of shower head. Extra towels and pillows were brought up within reasonable amount of time. (3) Don't appreciate 2 desk clerks speaking Spanish between each other when we were checking in and especially when we returned to ask to change rooms. Overall staff was pleasant. If I HAD to stay here or they dropped their prices a lot, I would stay here again, but I thought I was booking into the 39th Street HIExpress....prefer it WAY MORE than this place. (4) Good location. VERY VERY VERY noisy all night. Much more than any other hotel I've stayed at in the area in NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent value with great service"
Wow! A NYC hotel that actually had friendly service. Super value. I will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A very well located hotel, with the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. Walking distance to the main attractions, theaters and shopping as well as train and subway stations. Front desk staff was very helpful at all times. Rooms are small but comfortable; it is great to have breakfast and WiFi included in rate. Would certainly recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review

"THREE HOURS TO CHECK ME IN!"
thank you to the expedia rep who tried to resolve my debacle however the hotel worker was inexperienced and under trained and there was no management on site. Guest relations and reservations on the part of this girl chain was the worst customer service I'd ever experiencedGenuine Expedia guest review
"Budget hotel in midtown"
Not enough tables for breakfast. Small room. Bed too short. Understaffed desk.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was not impressed at all. I booked this hotel based on the reviews but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. We were placed on the first floor, in a cold and muggy room. Our room was located in a secluded corner, right by the maintenance room. Also, the view was horrible so we asked to move to higher floor. The attendant was quick to tell […] us no, telling us that there were no more rooms available. When we called them from our cell phones ( pretending to be a possible guest) they stated that there was availability! The breakfast buffet was cold and did not taste good at all. The only thing that was great about this hotel was the location. Perfect for exploring the city and although the parking is a few blocks down the road, the actual location of the hotel is very convenient. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"First trip to New York."
Great location to get to all of the sites of a the city. Just be ready for considerable amount of construction in the area. Starts in the morning and doesn't end until 5. Also, no great views of the city. Our room was facing another building. But for the rate couldn't expect much less.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy & Close to everything!"
I was very pleased to stay here. The room was cozy, breakfast was great and the location was excellent. There a really good restaurants and bars right next to the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room wasn't large but it was clean. The bathroom was nice. It looked like it had been redone recently. Very clean and everything in good working order. Heating/Cooling unit was loud but I find that in most hotels at this price point.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Most bang for your buck"
Breakfast was not just cereal and bagels. They had bacon, sausage, eggs, homemade cinnamon buns, juice, milk (all varieties), etc. The hotel staff was amazing, room was nice and clean. The only negative I would give this hotel is the elevator situation. There were only two and one was broken. With 18 floors it was incredibly frustrating, luckily I stayed […] on the second floor so it wasn't that big of an issue! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very good location"
I was there on business. Great restaurants on the same block. Convenient to where I was working, but also convenient to the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center. Between 5th and 6th avenue close to Times Square and the theatre district. Also, cheaper than the competition. Great place to stay. Service was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beat staying at the Waldorf-Astoria the day before"
I was in town for three nights for two conferences. I stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria for two of those nights and one here to save some money. The next time if they were the same price (obviously never going to happen) I would stay here instead of there. While the room was smaller, the check in was quick and easy, the wifi worked well, and there was a […] hot breakfast and clean rooms. All of these were the opposite at the Waldorf as I had ketchup stains on my mattress that took them an hour to get changed once I called, wifi didn't work, and it took 20 minutes to get checked into the hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Right in the heart of NY"
You can't beat the location, walking distance to everything. The room was small but nice, very clean and comfortable. Its an Express hotel so the amenities are limited but there isn't anything you can't find nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel located in central area close to Times Square, Union Station, Rockefeller Center & subways. Very good breakfast. We made an error when booking and were charged for a no-show. Staff at hotel reluctant to help us but finally did give us a room. Expedia says they will make it right but have not heard back from them yet. Took over 1-hour on the phone […] to reach an Expedia manager who guaranteed they would get back to us "right away" with information. Nothing heard for over 1-week. "One block from Times Square"
Hotel is one block from Times Square, and a few steps from 5th avenue. If that's what you are looking for, this is a good location. Otherwise, traffic and crowds can make it a very busy location. The hotel is small, with only 4-5 rooms per each one of the twenty something floors. If you are in one of the higher floors, the fact that there are only 2 […] elevators can make your wait a bit longer to go up or down. Hotel is well maintained and staff is nice. It may be considered a bit expensive, but what you are actually paying for is the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Front desk and rooms"
The front desk were all very helpful, specially in giving directions. I love my pillows. Although, I initially thought that the linens on my first night were not new. There is a stain on the linen. I had it changed the ff night. Breakfast is boring: eggs, bacon, cereals, bread, pancake, milk, coffee, tea, banana, more eggs- for 3 days Wish they would […] serve other fruits. "Great place if..."
... if youre just passing through on a one nighter or two. The rooms are smaller than what I am used to. The staff was nice and polite though... but the price is a bit higher than what I am use to paying as well... I dont care if its NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay Near Times Square"
The hotel was conveniently located. The breakfast area was overcrowded with limited seating and the food was so-so and varied very little from day-to-day. As usual in Manhattan, the room was quite small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was very good. Location good. Room was small. (Expected) CleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
5th Ave. is just around the corner. Ok for a short stay. Nice staff. Small rooms. I usually don't complain about space but we were 3 persons in the room and it is the first time I couldn't find a place to put my bag (had to leave it behind the room door).Genuine Expedia guest review
The room felt cramped since there were four of us. The location of the Hotel is great and the staff was great too. I would strongly recommend it to the others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Room is extremely!"
The room is extremely small. The amount of space in the room to move is NONE. Never again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is small but the staff was great. The free wifi and breakfast in the morning made the hotel price very reasonable. The location made shopping and times square easy to get to. Rockefeller Center is 5 min walk away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Breakfast facilities to crowded. Too many people converging in one corner of the lobby for breakfast. Discontinue free breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK hotel in theatre district"
We (2 adults, 2 children) booked this hotel for 5 days. The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of the Theatre district and all major museums and musical theatre are within 15-20 min walk. Given the price, the room was rather small and the bathroom tiny but, hey, we did not come to New York for staying in a hotel room. The wifi was functional. […] The hotel itself is in a OK shape but could use some renovation. There was a relatively generous breakfast buffet that helped to start a good day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"One and done"
I was given room 101, just off the ground floor reception, and I might as well have slept in the reception area. There was no sound proofing and I could hear the reception desk's conversations until I fell asleep and was woken early by activity in the reception area. The room was small and the bed seemed to be less than a normal length, even for me […] (5'11"). Bathroom was tiny. I chose based on price ($269 before taxes), but I probably wouldn't stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location for NYC sightseeing"
We stayed 4 nights here and LOVED it. Great location! Hotel room was awesome, a bit small.. but that's normal for NYC. The hotel staff was amazing. We arrived way before check-in, but they let us enjoy the free breakfast and Wi-Fi before we even checked in. And then they held our bags for us while we went sight-seeing. Loved the location. "Very convenient and comfortable"
My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days and greatly enjoyed our stay. It was close and convenient to all sites and facilitated our exploration of NY City. "Ugh... Like motel 6"
I only reserved this hotel because they were the cheapest that allowed pets and it was a last minute thing. There were a couple mariotts that were cheaper and I am willing to bet were a ton nicer but we had our dog with us and this was 1 of 5 that allowed pets... for a non-refundable deposit of $50 but that was cheap compared to the $250 that other […] hotels wanted. This hotel was far from impressive and not worth the $285 for a 1 night Thursday stay. It is a short walk to Times Square so that was nice. Parking is a separate charge of $35.00 but its a block away and there is no parking on the streets they tow all vehicles at 6am (We experienced this ): The staff was friendly and when we switched rooms because of the lysol smell they were quick to give us a different room with no problems but the 2nd room was gross too so we just decided to make the best of it. There was a very small crowded lobby and no bar, restaurant or any thing at all to do within the hotel. I really just wouldn't recommend this hotel it was like staying in a motel 6 and there were nicer hotels cheaper and I would rather have stayed at one of them.... but then again they were pet friendly so if your traveling with your pet you have to make a sacrifice somewhere. Oh the room was clean for what it was it just was dirty because it was so old and smelly but the cleaning lady I'm sure did the best she could for what it was.
