"Comfortable, convenient stay in theater district"
This is a comfortable but no frills hotel that perfectly suited our compressed weekend of sightseeing and shows. The price point allows for amenities such as comfortable beds and nice TVs without the need to spend extra on a hotel with more luxurious appointments. The staff treated us extremely well and we would definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"PARKING FEE OF $50 CHARGED"
We were not told about parking fee until we arrived. We received a $35 parking voucher for parking 1/4 mile away. Ok. We had to deal with that. However, when we left, we were actually charged $50 for parking, because we had an "oversized" vehicle. No one at Holiday Inn told us about parking fee, nor, did they tell us that we would be charged an over […] sized fee. I would not have stayed there if I knew this. "Great location close to Time Square"
A small but very clean room, breakfast was ok, hot eggs and sausages or beacon. Nice stuff, very friendly, great location close to an authentic chinese, cuban, turkish restaurants. I would recommend it to anyone travelling on budget and willing to get the best for their money.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for the price"
For the price, I thought that this hotel was great. The check in/out process was very fast. The room was small but clean and the bathroom was very clean. Mind you, the whole hotel is small (if you are in NYC visiting, there are so many things to do, you shouldn't be spending a ton of time in there anyway!) There are 6 rooms per floor. Breakfast buffet […] was included which had cereal, some basic muffins/danish, pancakes bacon, eggs, fruit, coffee and juice. The location was great as well. You are within walking distance of Times Square, Central park. Rock. Ctr, Grand Central. Noise was not an issue. Also if you need to park, they provide you with a voucher ($35 for a car for 24 hrs) for a parking garage that is on the next street over. It is a few minute walk as there is a park between the 2 streets that you can cut through. In general, for the price, I thought this place was great. It is definitely a hotel I will check out for future visits to NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"a big surprise"
I'm from Brooklyn. And I was surprise at the fact that I can find a affordable hotel to get some alone time with my girlfriend and to be in the city was a plus. We enjoy the whole experience. It will be my pleasure to spread the word about this hotel. Keep up the great work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location but noisy night club nearby."
Clean room, friendly staff, but the room was way too small. Hard to sleep when there is a night club's thumping bass heard past 2am. You would have to be in a room above the 12th floor not to hear it as much.Genuine Expedia guest review
My stay was wonderful at the Holiday Inn Express with great breakfast every morning (so convenient) and coffee anytime you wanted or needed it. The location is excellent, just 2 blocks from Times Square, 1/2 block from 5th Avenue, and 2 blocks from Grand Central to get on the subway. I couldn't have asked for a better location. Although the rooms are […] definitely on the small side, I am not in NYC to stay in my room so this did not bother me at all and there were 4 of us sharing this room. The staff answered all of our questions on how to get to places and whether to walk or take subway, they all did a fantastic job. Hats off to this location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location, Location, Location"
We had a great time! We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go: Times Square, Central Park Zoo, Rockefeller Center, NY Public Library, the famous Macy's....making our trip really pleasing and no-hassle. We used Amtrak to get to NYC and were able to walk from Penn Station to the hotel. It was about 10 blocks but we each had only one bag so it was […] no big deal. There's plenty of eating spots around the hotel...several Fridays and pizza places. Can walk a few minutes to Times Square and then there's everything at your convenience. The morning breakfast was plentiful but like others have said, space is limited so we just brought our bfast back up to our rooms each morning and ate there before heading out. Tip: the cinnamon rolls are delicious! Hotel staff was very accommodating and courteous. This is probably the most expensive Holiday Inn Express we've ever booked, but it's NYC/Manhattan, so you have to keep that in perspective. All in all, it's a good deal when you compare it to other places in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"perfect place to stay in NY"
I was looking for a nice place to stay in NY when you can easily reach all the major destinations and it seems Holiday Inn Express has it all! It is on Fifth Av walking distance to almost everything. Our room was small, but it is in some way normal for NY, beds were good with soft pillows. I didn't like hotel breakfast. It was too plain, plus to that […] area is too small near the door and every time somebody pass the door it will open and hit you with the cold air...but it wasn't a big problem for us. We never ate twice in the same place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to what we wanted to see and do."
We were very happy with hotel's cleanliness and the friendliness of the employees. However, it does have a very small lobby. It was crowded during breakfast hours. I loved that they had pancakes but the machine made one at a time so it took awhile to get 2-3 pancakes. My biggest compliant was that I called ahead and the day before for early check-in. […] They cheerfully told me it wouldn't be any problem at all. When we got there just before 11:00 am they were not helpful at all and didn't seem to care about it. They told us to check back with them at 1:30 pm. They did take our luggage for us. We went to lunch and came back to the lobby at noon. We fell asleep in the uncomfortable chairs (no couches or lounge chairs) while waiting for a room. At 1:00 pm they gave us a room. If I ever need early check-in again I would not return to that hotel, otherwise, I would. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic but fine for NYC"
If The Plaza is booked and you want to find something similar, keep moving! But if you want a CLEAN, safe hotel in a GREAT location, pick this one! Set right off Fifth Avenue, this chain hotel is nothing fancy. But, there also is nothing at all wrong with it. It's comfy (my bed was perfect), cozy (my King room was neither too big nor too small), and […] perfectly placed to view most of what Manhattan has to offer. It is a stone's throw the theater district and Times Square. And there are ample restaurants in the area -- even a good selection right next to the hotel. No, it is not new or perfectly appointed, but for NYC, I found this a great, reasonably-priced hotel with an unbeatable location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Room Super Clean and Tidy, but Tiny"
This was the perfect location for our overnight stay in the NYC. The hotel is two blocks from Times Square, three blocks from American Girl and Rockefeller Center. The room was compact and very clean. If you plan on seeing the city and not spending too much time in your room it is perfect. They provided a breakfast with pancakes, sausage, eggs, gravy, […] assortment sweet breads and fruits, etc. Parking is extra through another company, but they noted that on Hotels.com and it is very typical for NYC. "Not the best place to stay!"
My husband and i have been telling our 14 year old daughter we would take her to NYC. so we decided to over her Christmas break. If I were going to spend any amount of time in my room...or at this hotel... I probably would've switched hotels. The hotel lobby was quite crowded and extremely to small. There was also no room to sit to eat the continental […] breakfast provided... That ended up tasting terrible... The last three mornings we were there we walked down to Cafe Manhattan to eat breakfast. It was disappointing because the continental breakfast was one of the reasons we stayed here. We thought we would save some money only having to eat out for lunch and supper. We are HH members and were told that we would have an upgrade... I hate to see what the room was like if what we stayed in was an upgrade. We requested two double beds and one of the beds was up against a wall that u kept hitting my head on during the night. The room was tiny with no place to put luggage. The carpet on the floors were disgusting and desperately needed to be cleaned. We requested a room with a nice view... It was okay... Only we woke up to the sound of a jackhammer our last morning there. In leaving the hotel for breakfast they were cleaning the awning out front only to walk outside and be splashed by water. So needless to say... Not a great hotel experience but NYC was nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Clean hotel, great location, unbeatable price!"
The bed was comfortable, the staff was excellent. The room was very clean and updated. The only complaint we have is that the breakfast area is too small; we needed to bring our food up to the room because there weren't enough chairs for everyone to eat at the continental breakfast nook. The hotel was fine! The first night we stayed in the basement where the vending machines outside our door were a bit loud. We asked to be moved and went to the 17th floor. It was super! Breakfast was a very nice perk including cheese omelets, pancakes and very nice sweet rolls! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Better than we expected, in the heart of it all"
We had a great family getaway to NYC to kickoff the holidays. This hotel is situated perfectly between Times Square and Fifth Ave, within walking distance of all the major attractions and shopping that we wanted. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was excellent. We feel we got great value for what we paid, compared to much higher prices you see at […] other hotels in the area. If you are looking for pure luxury then this isn't your hotel. But if you want excellent value, then this is a great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Downtown Hotel!!"
We were only in the city for one night and wanted to make sure we stayed somewhere that was close to Times Square and within walking distance to other attractions. We hit the jackpot with this hotel! The rate was super reasonable for New York City and staying at the hotel we got a good discount at the parking garage around the corner, it was some of […] the cheapest parking I've ever had in New York at $35. It was literally a 2 minute walk to Times Square, Radio City Music Hall and maybe 5 minutes to all the great 5th Ave shops. We walked with our kids to Central Park and it only took us about 20 minutes. The rooms were average to above average in size for a NYC hotel, we really weren't there to hang out in the room, so it did its job. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay there again on another trip to NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient place to stay immediately"
The room was a bit small but I only needed to stay overnight since a last minute event occurred. The sheets/towels could have been more whiter. The service was good and decent continental b'fast. "Not the worst"
Typically I thoroughly enjoy Holiday inn express hotels. This location however is dated and not as clean looking as the others I have been too. When I arrived there was one person checking people in and about six people in line, it took me about 25 minutes to check in. While I was with the young lady checking in she must not have read my reservation […] correctly And proceeded to charge my card for the entire reservation when I've already paid for it on hotels.com. Thank goodness it didn't go through but nothing was hurt except for my pride! I told her that It was just supposed to be incidentals that I already paid she looked it up and found that I was correct. No harm no foul, she was busy so I understood. I proceeded to my room, which was much less than to be desired. I mean the bed was comfortable but the decor and overall appearance was very dated. Would I stay here again? Only if it was on sale and as a final option. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is ideally located. Literally a stone's throw to 5th Ave and 1 1/2 blocks to Times square. We walked almost everywhere, The rooms were tiny, but except for the worn rug, they were clean and comfortable. The lobby/breakfast area was also tiny but functional with a good and varied breakfast. "Prefer Holiday Inn Express on 39th St"
(1) No ketchup...they didn't run out, they don't carry it. (but there are eggs offered!!) For me that killed the usefulness of the breakfast. The free breakfast is pretty good - IF you can maneuver your way around people - the area is MINUTE (not tiny, MINUTE). (2) Rooms are smaller than what we've experienced - on par with the small rooms in the Club […] Quarters hotels. Lower level rooms are bigger - we were assigned there first, but curtain was black and being below ground was oppressive so we moved. Bed was comfy. Towels, toiletries were fine. Shower was fine but you cant adjust the pressure or angle of shower head. Extra towels and pillows were brought up within reasonable amount of time. (3) Don't appreciate 2 desk clerks speaking Spanish between each other when we were checking in and especially when we returned to ask to change rooms. Overall staff was pleasant. If I HAD to stay here or they dropped their prices a lot, I would stay here again, but I thought I was booking into the 39th Street HIExpress....prefer it WAY MORE than this place. (4) Good location. VERY VERY VERY noisy all night. Much more than any other hotel I've stayed at in the area in NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
