It sees a lot of passing traffic in terms of canal boats and visitors en route to San Marco, but is otherwise quieter and less touristy than central Venice. Points of interest include the Ghetto area (the original Jewish enclave) with its museums and the majestic Ca d’Oro palace, one of the iconic buildings of the Grand Canal.

This hotel is off the beaten path, but easily accessible by public transportation (water buses), at least by Venetian standards. From the train station we took the #1 "bus" for 4 or 5 stops down the Grand Canal. We then walked 3 Venice blocks with our suitcases to arrive at the hotel. The only problem is that ou have to cross one bridge which means going up and down about 15 steps. During our stay the location was wonderful and as we packed light, getting to and from the train was not a problem. We had a superior room which was very comfortable. Gratefully, when you removed the card controlling the electricity, the air conditioning continued to work so that the room was cool when we returned from a long, hot day of touring. This si no small thing in August. The front desk recommended a wonderful restaurant that was fabulous (sorry but I am horrible with names). They were very helpful with all questions.

The staff in the hotel were fabulous. Their English was excellent and they were very welcoming and informative. The hotel is centrally located and by following the directions on their web site it is easily found. The breakfast in the morning was of a good quality. The rooms are nice though could have had more storage. The only real criticism was the lack of a proper bar in the hotel. The breakfast room became a "bar" at night but didn't really suit this purpose. There was a mini bar in the room but at the usual mini bar prices!!

The hotel service was friendly and first class. The hotel took a little bit of finding (Venice streets are a maze) and it was in a converted historic house. The 2nd floor room was really well appointed and in keeping with the historic character but one downside was that the air conditioning didn't work very well and it was very hot in Venice when we visited. The hotel is well located for the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge and for water bus services going to the airport and Murano Island from Fondamente Nove "station". Our room rate included breakfast which included a good choice of food. I would definitely consider staying at the Una Hotel again.

I was extremely pleased with my stay at Una Hotel Venezia. The hotel was very easy to find - less than 5 minutes from the vaporetto stop at Ca d'Oro, near plenty of shops and restaurants. It's a quick 10-minute walk to the Rialto Bridge. The hotel staff was extremely nice and very helpful; the room was on the small side but beautiful, comfortable, and full of amenities; and the breakfast was very good. Overall, a great place to stay on a trip to Venice - it feels historic/authentic but everything is up-to-date and sparkling clean, from the electronic housekeeping alert to the wireless internet access.

The hotel is located on a quiet street centrally located in Venice. It is tucked away so that you can escape the hordes from the cruise boats who are in only for the day. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The only complaint (it is a minor one)is that the breakfast room is a bit small for the number of guests (36 rooms).

We found the Una Venezia hotel to be exellent, it's located in the north of Venice on a beautiful quiet side road. The outside facade was rustic and in keeping with Venice but the inside was sleek and stylish. The room was clean, nicely decked out and welcoming. The staff couldn't do enough to help. This hotel was just lovely. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We got a free upgrade on our room when we arrived. The room was out of this world. We went on to stay at a Hilton in another part of Italy after Venice and it didn't even compare! The breakfast room was lovely and the staff there bent over backwards to get you what you wanted. Everybody was so nice and so helpful - from the staff on reception to the staff in the breakfast room. The room was cleaned and tidied every day with little sweets left on the pillows. And, as an extra bonus, it was a five minute walk away from all the main streets. You can't fault this hotel - what a lucky little find!

However, during my 5 nights' stay the housekeeping consistently forgot to replenish some of the items in my room, for example, there were only half a bottle of shower gel left and it was the only bottle left standing there with not further replensihment. Whenever I called the reception to make a request for replenishing the items they were always very very helpful and always gave more than i needed, which is good.

This hotel should be classed as boutique. It is fantastic and I am very fussy! My partner and I had a beautiful room, windows all round, a view of a canal running right beside the hotel and rooftop views. It is super quiet, yet only a 2 min walk to the main street. Staff helpful and friendly. One point - get a good map of exact streets, the map on their website is not detailed enough. Also, we just took the no. 5 bus from the airport (20 mins) and walked to the hotel from the main bus terminal at Piazzale Roma. Walk down Santa Marco (cross 4 bridges) and turn left and you are almost there (20 mins) and only 2.50 Euros. More money to spend at the wonderful Hosteria Al Vecio Bragosso (see below!!)

Decor is very nice in 'boutique hotel' style with padded walls, which proved useful. Service was good as well. Our flight got us there at around ten at night so we went straight to the water taxi desk at arrivals. It's 95 euros but well worth it to get delivered straight to the hotel door. When we left we got the water bus which was only 24 euros and was only a five minute walk from the hotel. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. The room was real luxury and it appears that they upgrade everyone on arrival if the hotel isn't too full. Breakfast was great and a good start to a busy day walking around. Strada Nova (2 minutes from hotel) had some lovely shops including a dog clothes shop. It had a nice local feel. Rialto bridge was just a few minutes further on and San Marco Square 10 minutes further on. It does get cold at this time of year but we got some lovely sunshine too. Out of season Venice is great, not too busy and you get to see all the local Italians...very chic!! WOULDN'T EAT AT THE IGUANA RESTAURANT! It was billed in my book as having live latin music. No music, very cold with just a little heater sitting on a nearby table. The food was also cold when it arrived. Chilli mince beef should surely be thoroughly heated through before serving and the salad was brown with age! However, we did see someone walking a ferret outside so it wasn't all bad. Stay at the Una Hotel Venezia, it just adds to the romance of this wonderful city! PS. We managed to get a ride on a gondola for 60 euro's and he turned out to be an amazing tenor into the bargain.
