This hotel was very conveniently located, has a very good breakfast, was close to places to eat, close to places to buy, it was close to the 5th avenue (recomended place to visit), we enjoy our stay and will come back.

This hotel advertises free Wifi on their website and High Speed Internet in the room on the plaque by the front desk. The wifi in the rooms is non-existent. I was moved 3 times in 5 days by hotel staff in an attempt to get a better connection. And was at one point assured by the hotel manager that the problem was with my computer (which I have had no problem with at any other hotel). The front desk staff finally admitted there was nothing they could do as their internet is very slow. Very frustrating when the reason I chose the holiday inn is that it is a business hotel and I had work to do.

General manager, Xochitl made my vacation a nightmare! Worst customer service I have EVER encountered in my life! I lost my contact lenses in the hotel, reported to them as soon as I found out that morning. I explained to her that it would have been thrown away by the cleaner by accident. I covered my contact lenses container with a small tissue paper to avoid dust. A habit I acquired over the years. My assumption was when housekeeping cleaned our room, the maid must have been in a rush and accidentally threw them out. Otherwise, she would have noticed what that was. Spoke with Xochitl, and lo and behold, this person insisted that she spoke with the maid and was told she didn't threw out anything from the table. And then told me I kept changing my story. (I knew she didn't understand me very well but instead accused me of changing my story) And then had the guts to tell me that a lot of their customers say that they lost something in their room but apparently not!? I was trembling and in rage after! I cannot believe a manager would deal the issue like this. Very poor people skill. I was expecting she would at least say "I apologize for the inconvenience" then explain. This has not happened at all! And yet, basically told me I'm lying. You don't say that to an angry/frustrated customer that is just common sense! So don't blame me for how I behaved. A different person with great customer/people skill would have dealt the situation differently.

The hotel was clean and special good for those who have a car. If you dont mind to walk about 15 minutes to the ferry ou the beginning of the 5th avenue it is also a good option as walking is safe. If you wake up late you may have to wait a few minutes to get in for the breakfast as the demand is too high for the amount of staff asingned. There are emergency exit doors marked as "salida" or exit and it can be annoying waking up with the alarm. I gave this feed back and they seemed to take the advise. Overall the hotel is a 4/5 and if you want to travel within your means and have a free breakfast this is an option for you. I hope you enjoy your staying and don't forget to check the beaches in Tulum; you won't regret.

I think that since we visited right around New Years Day that the hotel was not operating as well as it typically would. The breakfast in the morning often offered up paper plates and bowls and half the time it seemed that plates or bowls were not available at all. One of the days there no one came to clean our room at all and we had to ask for it to be done around 6 PM. I think that this is a passable hotel and the staff is friendly and helpful. My guess is that if you do not stay here at the peak of the season that the issues we had would not be a problem.

Traveling for New year's was a mistake because all hotels were very expensive, so we booked Holiday Inn Express and ot was packed. Our room didn't have a phone, hair dryer and the T.V. Was no working. After a couple of trips to the front desk, they resolved. The breakfast was very good, buffet with real food, fruits, eggs, etc. but you need to be there early to avoid long lines. It was a good option for the complicated date, you could walk to the 5th Avenue where everything is. It was good.

We used this hotel as stopover after leaving Cozumel on our way to Cancun. It was fine for that. The hotel didn't have anything within walking distance so had to spend some money on cabs.

Decent hotel for the money with basic amenities (free wifi, free parking, small pool, free breakfast). Close enough to walk to Playa del Carmen. Hotel is away from the hassles of crowds and noise. Free parking was perfect. Recommend to others not wanting to deal with the high-priced, low-standard hotels downtown with no parking and nickle-dime amenities.

Very rude staff, site says they're bilingual but they're not. Not helpful at all on services and the good was awful at breakfast. Made for locals, not for tourists. Rooms were clean and cool. Pool was nice and the outside is well manicured. Not in a very nice area, scary when we walked back from 5th avenue.

Overall was a little disappointing. Never had a remote for our tv. Lock on main door was broken. Gym was not open due to either no air-con or some equipment not working, even though at check in I was told the location of the gym and the hours. Telephone would work and then not work. But at $80 per night ...

We booked late but were not disappointed with the HI Express. It is not in the middle of things, but is close to a major market, and fairly close to the beach and 5 th ave. It's arrangement with Senior Frogs is great for the beach access.

This hotel is reasonably comfortable. The breakfast is better than many other hotels. It is a short distance from the downtown. Therefore, you can find a quiet room for a good sleep while still be able to walk to the downtown if you do not want to drive or take a taxi. We stayed there for two nights as our base of activities during the day.

Very Courteous staff. Nice and big rooms. Great morning break fast. Can exchange currency at the desk with best rates in town. Very close to 5th avenue in walking distance. Hotel in a very quiet neighborhood. Very nice pool. Free internet in the room. However, need to have a cable to connect to internet in room. Lobby has free Wi-Fi.

It is a hotel that has anything a traveler needs a clean, friendly, safe enviroment but overall the facility has a parking lot that for us is key in any stay we book. We are a couple that loves to drive and explore the cities we visit and most hotels in Playa doesn't have parking. The staff is awesome. The breakfast included it wasn't our taste but the fruit bar and juice bar is great! Please do not forget to tip the staff even if the breakfast buffet is not the best! Let's not forget they live of tips.

I thought holiday inn's were a lot better, will not stay there again but on the plus side you can walk to 5th avenue

Good breakfast, good staff and clean room. I have thought they have some laundry facilities but they don't have any. They have Free WiFi but it was hard to connect.

We checked in around 11:00 pm. It was very hot in the room and the windows were fixed (i.e. they did not open). After an hour and a half of waiting for the a/c to cool, I called the front desk to tell them the a/c did not appear to be working in the room (#339). After turning the power on and off in our room several times of the next half hour, the manager knocked on the door and gave us a key to a different room (#344). We moved our things to that room, which was also very hot, but about an hour later (i.e. 12:45 am), it finally cooled down enough to sleep.

Within walking distance of beach, ferry and shopping. Nice little pool. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Did have a problem with air conditioning but they did fix it.

Requested a twin room for New Year's - specifically chose this hotel for the twin room option as other choices were booked up. Arrived to find a double bed. One of us had to sleep on a roll up bed. New Year's Day breakfast - had to queue up to enter 'canteen' style breakfast room. Then had to hang around waiting for cutlery - eventually had to make do with plastic cutlery. THEN they started taking away the food before we had finished breakfast! Overall, a characterless hotel for which I had expected much higher rate of amenities and service.

I stayed at this hotel after having emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. It was close to the hospital but not in the tourist zone. Not many people speak English here. We had to change rooms 3 times. The first 2 rooms smelled of mold and smoke. The second room had a closet door off the track, a toilet that didn't flush and a sink tap that sprayed water everywhere. The building itself is very institutional with no balconies or opening windows. This Holiday Inn Express is not the same standard of other Holiday Inn Express' in Canada and the US. Our travel agency called and left us a message with Omar twice to advise of our new travel plans and we never got the message. We were not impressed with this hotel at all.

Great service. I am currently in Cancun, I am paying triple the price here. The room at Holiday Inn was much better and included breakfast. The Holiday Inn Express is about 10 minutes (walking) from the 5 Avenida and the beach. You will find everything you need at the 5 avenida. I don't recommend a taxi, too expensive. It is very safe at all times. Too drunk or too late at night get a taxi. The only problem I had, was seeing duty water behind the pool area; probably from the rain, but it was not a pretty site. You won't notice it unless you walk back there. I would stay there again. Playa del Carmen is close to Cancun, and all the adventure parks. I would recommend renting a car.

The hotel was in excellent condition an dthe bed totally comfortable. But they had a problem programing the room keys, and people got rooms that were already occupied.

My fiance and I stayed here for 8 days&nights. The lovely Ana allowed us an early occupancy when we arrived, as our flight landed very early in the am and by the time we made it to the hotel we were way over tired.+++ for the staff! The "buffet" breakfast was very simple Mexican fare and got boring after a few days. Same fruit for 8 days in a row! melons, papaya, eggs, refried beans, dried cereal and runny yogurt,room temp. milk and the worst coffee ever...I guess the "Buffet Breakfast" was our only complaint.
