"Not the best experience"
It wasn't very comforting. Not very friendly staff. Room was cold. I informed the reception about the room temperature but still wasn't fixed. Won't go back there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and comfy"
I was only there for the night and found the hotel clean and comfortable. We decided to have a full English breakfast, and we were rather disappointed with it. We felt we were being rushed even though there was only one other couple in the restaurant and when the breakfast was served, the bacon was dried up and hard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's OK for one night"
Having stay in Holiday Inns abroad I thought this would be a nice way to break up my working week. Although the room was big it stunk of stale cigarette smoke. And as I had taken the last room there was no way to change rooms, more ver all the hotel is a bit dated. But the evening staff were very helpful. Breakfast was ok. But I do not think I will stay […] in another Holiday In. Over here Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
very comfortable beds. Fast room service.Friendly staff.Affordable rates .very good food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The first time we've used this hotel as we visit Reading frequently. Whilst being a little 'out of the way' down the Bath Rd it was all we needed. The room was amazingly quiet considering it's next to a main road and the room whilst a little faded in places was clean and very comfy. The staff seem happy and friendly and breakfast was excellent. All […] in all very good and we will be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Relaxing and pleasant place to stay"
Very good experience and satisfied with place, premises and cuisineGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you very much for your kind review, I am delighted you had such a great experience at Holiday Inn Reading West, the team will be delighted with your feedback, thank you.
Had a lovely 3 night stay for the rewind festival. The hotel would benefit by more guests if they offered a shuttle service to events like the rewind festival and Henley etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review, I'm delighted you had such a lovely stay. I will certainly look into shuttle services but I would think the cost of this to places like Henley, which is approx. 16 miles away, would be prohibitive unless there were a large group all travelling. We can of course assist with taxi bookings and help with public transport links and times. Kind regards
"confortable but restaurant not good"
Friendly staff at reception but food at the restaurant was not great. Order tuna stake which was like rubber and had to send back. Also they ran out of the house red and the bottle red we had ordered but then they suddenly a bottle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you for your feedback, I'm vvery sorry you were not happy with your dining experience. All meals are cooked fresh to order so I'm not qite sure why there should have been a problem with the tuna but thank you for letting me , I will investigate with the chef. Kind regards
A nice little hotel, conveniently situated. V comfortable rooms although the air con was a little noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you very much for your review Kind regards
I stay here quite a lot, always lovely front of house staff, menu needs updating and cider flat, but overall a nicer Holiday Inn made more enjoyable by the staff!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you for your review. I'm sure you will be delighted to know that new menus 'went live' at the beginning of July, in addition to our local weekly changing Chef's Menu. Thank you for your comments about the cider, we will investigate this further. Kind regards
The Cleanliness of the room and hotel were satisfactory, the staff were really nice and helpful. The hotel is in the middle of no where so a car is essential. My only gripe is the WI FI costs £5 for one hour which I find totally un exceptable. Apart from that a very nice stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you for your feedback, I pleased you found the team so helpful. We are on the A4 Bath Road, half way between Reading and Newbury town centres and only 3 miles from M4 junction 12. Whilst having a car is an advantage there is a bus stop right outside the hotel going to both Reading and Newbury and you can get a train into Reading and on to Paddington from Aldermaston - just a ten minute walk from the hotel. You'll be pleased to know that internet access is now free to all IHG Elite Members at Holiday Inn. Kind regards
Straight-forward hotel. Very quiet in rooms despite being next to main road. Six Bells pub in Beenham did great food (5min drive).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I hope on a future visit you will try out the menu at Holiday Inn Reading West. Kind regards

I was only staying for one night but I was allocated a suite which was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall condition of the hotel which was better than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in previously. The location was good, getting to Newbury quite quickly the next day. Would definitely stay again, hoping for the suite again next time […] ! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Holiday Inn Reading West"
Very impressed overall with the general standards at this hotel. Although on a main road, we weren't disturbed by traffic noise due to good soundproofing of the windows. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and HUGE!! Would definitely recommend a stay here!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient hotel in the Reading and Newbury area"
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable. Lots to choose from for breakfast however the cooked full English wasn't the best but acceptable. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you very much for your review and rating. I was disappointed to read your comments about breakfast - we cooked hot breakfasts to order and these are generally very well received so I'm sorry we seem to have let you down here. Kind regards

"Everything OK but Internet Access: MASSIVE letdown"
Everything was as expected except for Wi-Fi access. To charge £4.95 per hour and not have free wi-fi access in public areas is just a massive letdown.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Reading West Thank you for your review. I am very disappointed we were only just OK and apologies that we seem to have let you down. Please be advised that from July 2013 free internet access will be available for all IHG Elite Rewards Members. Kind regards

"Could do with knocking down and rebuilding"

Tried this hotel a few times, rooms are in need of an update Asap, rotten wood in the bath room, taps are in a disgusting state, stains all over the toilet, bed very uncomfortable - not impressed with this hotel. Not worth the £120, more like a £40 per night hotel. Anyone who reads this, try the de veres hotel and complex hotels in reading, great value for money.
"The worst hotel we have every stayed at"
10/07/14 howchel Leeds, United Kingdom
Don't expect value for money at this hotel. We paid for an exceutive room with sofa bed and they put is in a standard room and hoped we wouldn't notice. The bathroom had mould all over the tiles and around the sealant. The bed was pushed up against the wall which meant I had to crawl into bed. The service in the restaurant was appualing we had to wait 2 hours for our evening meal with a 1 year old and a 2 year old by the time we finally got our meal it was 9pm and then I had to send it back because it was rare when I asked for medium well. When it came back the steak was ok but the rest was burnt and dry. We finally got the kids back to the room at 10pm. When we asked how much longer the meal was going to be she said that we should have booked. There was only a totally of 14 people in the restaurant all night. They took 70 pounds more out of my account than they should have. The manager is rude and doesn't return calls and in not so many words called me a liar. By the end I was in tears and had enough of this manager and phoned head office in tears. Funny half hour later the manager actually phoned me and he seem like a different man clearly head office had told him to be nice and sort it. Then at the end he asked me if I could rate the hotel as excellent. 4 words to say to that.I DON'T THINK SO.

This Holiday Inn is in need of some investment if it is to match the usually good standard you receive at other hotels in the chain. Stayed just the one night for business the following day, the room was clean and presentable, however the bathroom was looking a little "tired" the meal in the restaurant was reasonably priced and well cooked and breakfast was the usual fare.
"Two hotels in one"
10/04/14 Greengrass59 Harrogate, United Kingdom
Staying over on business I experienced two very different sides to this hotel. As seems common among the larger chains that a lack of investment in the premises saves them money when in the long run people stop coming. The only real fault with the hotel team I would comment on was the very poor level of cleanliness in the room. I have some sympathy with the pressure housekeeping are under to clean rooms in a time frame but the first room I was given was so poor I asked to be moved and this was promptly done. However even in the second room the cleaning was not good. The flip side of the hotel was every member of the team I came in contact with were engaging and polite and having eaten in the restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast I have no hesitation in recommending it. But please owners invest in your premises and give your cleaning team a little more time to do rooms

Arrived after a long day at the West Berks show, hotel reception was empty and once occupied there was little warmth in the welcome. Had an excecutive room which was "used" but adequate for an overnight stay, ordered room service for our evening meals they arrived but were charged £4.50p for the privilige. This was after sitting in a deserted bar waiting for service, when he finally arrived he was obviously annoyed about something and was just rude, and could not wait to take one of the staff to his office for a discussion!! as there was no one in the bar but us we finished our drinks and retired to our room. However next morning we went down to breakfast initially with trepidation after the previous contact with the hotel staff to be met by a delightful team who could not do enough, a good standard of food which was help yourself. The mornings experience made up somewhat for the previous evening but overall the cost was too much for the hotel.
"Worth the Trip"

Stayed one night, for a wedding party, room was large and clean. Bathroom had some plumbing issues. Breakfast was very good once the staff realised that people did not want over done scrambled eggs..Drinks were boring and cheap unbranded Gin was only available..Felt like Turkey all Inclusive with glasses rather than plastic beakers..No pazaz with the drinks mixers went flat too soon.. All in all worth the on line price..Even got a free newspaper..

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Reading West as was attending a wedding at Ufton Court. Check Inn was friendly and was allocated room 38. The room was clean and tidy with a queen size bed, dressing table, desk and chair. Tea and coffee facilities were available. Bathroom was basic but clean. We didn't try any facilities as was literally in and out. There are very limited hotels in the area and I personally think that the Holiday Inn is the best option. The only thing to be aware off and something that we should of been advised on is that any taxis ordered through the hotel have to come from either Reading or Newbury. This results in extortionate charges - £20 to go 2.7 miles! The cost of the room was very reasonable as well.

Room was nice, quiet, big, and clean... Breakfast was lovely. Only one down think was: the welcome at reception; that she thought we didn't have any breakfast included. We went back later and a different more kinder person was there and said, yes all included. So worries for nothing :) Otherwise it was a lovely stay.
"Really quite poor"

For some reason, on the night I stayed here, most hotels in the area were fully booked so my options were limited. First things first, this is not in West Reading. As somebody else said, it is west of Reading. On the subject of location it is also miles from anywhere on foot so once you get here, unless you have a car, you will not be leaving the hotel again until the morning. The hotel itself is quite small (about 50 rooms). Check in was OK. At no point was I acknowledged as a Platinum Priority Club member so was not offered any of the perks or upgrades that the status normally attracts. The staff at check in seems a little disengaged and unapproachable so I didn't feel inclined to question this. The room was on the 1st floor (2nd floor if you are American) up a set of stairs and down a maze of corridors. My room had a great view of the main road outside but the triple glazing kept the noise down so this wasn't a problem. The room was not that large but big enough however it was very very tired. Indeed this was theme of the whole hotel (including the reception) and whilst I am sure they were going for some old world charm (or similar) the fact my window ledge was actually falling apart due to the wood being so rotten does not make things "rustic" Considering they have a captive audience the restaurant menu unsurprisingly looked, rather uninspired and very expensive so rather than face a Holiday Inn burger I got in my car and drove the 5 minutes down the main road to Aldermaston Wharf where i found the Butt Inn and had an amazing evening meal Upon return, I had a couple of drinks in the bar before retiring for the night. Breakfast (which was not included in my room rate) is cooked to order. This really cheered me up as you normally get death by heat-lamp. Whilst service was a tad slow my order was eventually taken and I requested a fried egg, sausages, bacon and tomatoes. Again it took a while (20 minutes) to arrive but when it did, what I got was one fried egg, a single sausage, a single rasher of bacon and half a grilled tomato!!! For £10 I was expecting more but by now I had been in the restaurant for over half an hour and was running late so there was no point saying anything and to be fair, nobody had actually asked me if everything was OK anyway So i have to put this stay into context. The following night I stayed 10 minutes up the road in Thatcham in the Regency Park Hotel in a nice room, with really friendly staff for £100 including one of the best hotel breakfasts around. Wonderful The night before I stayed in the Millennium hotel in Reading. Again a good breakfast (indeed an excellent breakfast with loads of fresh fruit and choice) and change out of £120 For the Holiday Inn West (of) Reading I paid £135 for the room plus an additional £10 for breakfast and got a neglected hotel, with a rationed breakfast and lacklustre staff. I stay in a lot of hotels in the Holiday Inn chain. Indeed so far this year I have spent 49 nights in IHG group hotels and we are only in September. I thought hotels like this had died out. I especially thought that there were no more hotels like this in the UK with a Holiday Inn badge above the door Either refurbish the place or shut it down but don't make wild claims about the location, charge top dollar, skimp on things like breakfast and leave woodwork rotting for all to see, Hotels like this deserve to go out of business.

Our daughter‘s wedding reception was held here and many of the guests stayed at the hotel. They ranged in age from small babies to our ninety year old aunt. Everyone was made to feel very welcome. The hotel is family friendly. The rooms are very clean and of a good size. The service we received was faultless. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The food both for the wedding breakfast and for the evening buffet was delicious and plentiful. The disco that was provided for the evening entertainment was great, and had everyone up dancing, including the 90 year old aunt! If I ever work out how to post pictures I will put one up of her. A special thank you to Alison, the wedding co-ordinator, who made our daughter’s special day extra special.
