The location is great--on the main street and very close to the train station. Nice old building with beautiful arcades (which are everywhere in Bologna), completely modern inside. The weldome and service were somewhat cold, and the room, although comfortable, was somewhat sterile. After touring around Italy and sleeping in multiple hotels, I found it surprising that the cheapest hotel ended up being the nicest one. I Portici's staff was really helpful (and spoke English, which helped!) and their rooms were modern-designed and comfortable. It was a bit small, but I think that is to be expected in any hotel in Italy(?). This was my first trip to Bologna and I would go back and stay at i Portici Hotel. It is close to the Central Train station and a short walk to the center of town. The Hotel staff was very helpful in recommending good local restaurants and things to do. My room was clean and well maintained. I would also recommend paying for Breakfast one day that you […] stay there, it was 10 euro with a nice spread of fruit, brioche, yogurt, fresh juice and much more. Very clean, modern hotel with fairly spacious rooms. 5 minute walk from the train station, and located on a main road, about 10 minutes walk to the big sights in Bologna. Good internet in the room. Staff was nice but didn't interact with them much.

The location is excellent. I was able to walk from the train station with light luggage. The shops, the opera house, and the Museum of Modern Art are also within walking distance. My room was upgraded even though I didn't expect it. The hotel is clean, modern and has style.

This hotel is perfectly situated -- easy to get to by train or car, and in the center of the city so it's close to everything. Didn't have a chance to try the hotel restaurant (unfortunately went to Diana, based on recommendation of a chef-friend -- awful), but the menu reads really well. Convenient to train station by a short walk. The hotel is directly adjoining a park for running or relaxing. The upstairs hotgel bar overlooks it. Nice view. Rooms are small and stark. The ceiling and windows were high, we couldn't see out. Everything was white and modern. Clean lines, but felt like a hospital at times.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel policy was to restrict heating in the rooms. As the weather was terrible the rooms were cold - and not outfitted with rugs or curtains or headboards on the bed which would have produced some relief to the bare surroundings.

Was in Bologna for business. Easy to get to from the train station and all taxi drivers knew the hotel (did not have to pull out the address). In walking distance from central Bologna & restaurants. Room was very clean and people at desk were helpful. Breakfast was great - maybe not enough coffee refills. My only frustration was the security system […] in the room made a ticking noise... The hotel is a lovely old building and in an excellent location, close to the train station and the historic centre. The staff are exceptional, always willing to assit and very friendly. The rooms are small and basic but the bed was comfortable and it had all the amenities we required.

I just stayed for a one night stop-over, arriving late and leaving early so I didn't have a chance to experience all the hotel facilitiers. It is a striking building, arcaded outside with a very modern reworking in the indoor public areas - all very attractive. My room was very high with a painted ceiling and had the feel of a palazzo! My only criticisms […] were that the pillows on the bed were thin and, for me, a bit uncomfortable, but more importantly the room was very warm and the heating control seemed to have no effect - I resorted to opening the window on a cold December night. I guess if I had been staying longer this might have got sorted. The breakfast was nice in another grand ballroom style room, complete with a stage with a piano! The hotel is within a couple of minutes walk to the railway station. The only negative thing I experienced was the food. The quality of the food on the breakfast buffet was very average. I ate in their La Terrazza Bistrot (which is inside & not on a terrace). The food here was also poor.

Enjoyed a short stay of three nights along with some friends whilst exploring Bologna and Firenze. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the terrace was beautiful to relax on with evening drinks.

This is a hotel that is very close to the centre of Bologna. The location is perfect. The hotel is newly decorated and is minimal in its style which may not be to everyone's taste. Our room was on the first floor with double hight ceilings and a nice sized double bed. On the downside the window in room 110 is very small so not much light came through. […] Also, the TV size for the size of the room is way way to small. If you are parking a car then be aware of a 24 Euro charge per night for parking which is a bit steep. Overall, for one night this was a nice hotel to stay in - if I were there for more than that then its starkness might have become an issue. Read more

The hotel looks modern, luxurious and well located. The service is excellent and the hotel restaurant is first class. Having said that, I probably had the worst night sleep in any hotel I have stayed in. The noise coming from the street was endless and the room did not have any double glazing.
