I wasn’t on vacation, so the quality of the hotel might mean something different for me. My apartment flooded and I needed somewhere to stay for a week. The previous reviews worried me, but I honestly have little to no problems with this hotel, especially considering the cost. I had a smoking room because the non-smoking rooms were booked, but it didn’t […] stink of cigarettes. The person that works at night wasn’t very helpful and ignored me when I first came in to the point that I had to lean over the desk and ask him to get off his personal phone call and help me. This hotel served the purpose of a place to rest after Ebertfest for 4 nights. It was easy to drive to downtown Champaign and to campus. Lots of food and shops nearby. The room itself was bare bones. The kitchen was helpful, but it also didn't include the little bottles of shampoo which I didn't know in advance. The room was technically non-smoking […] but I could smell smoke from next door, and when I got back home all my clothes smelled like smoke. The room I was in must have been a smoking room prior and smelled like they used chemical cleaners to attempt to cover up the stench. There was no shampoo in either of the 2 rooms that my party booked but when I called the front desk they did provide it. The furniture is in total disrepair. Do not judge the hotel by the photos on the website. That is creative photography. However, it was worth the much lower price Extended Stay charges as opposed to hotels right next door that charge twice as much.

After reading several negative reviews, I was somewhat apprehensive about staying here. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the staff and the facilities. Check-in was handled efficiently, and the property's amenities were carefully explained. The room had very clean carpeting, and the floor area in the small kitchen was spotless. […] The bedding was good and the bed itself comfortable. The furniture showed some wear, but this was certainly nothing that warranted complaint. Water pressure was excellent as was the temperature of the hot water. Some of the towels were a bit thin, while others were quite comfortable - not a big deal. But, like many hotels of this level - the soap was not of good quality - so bring your own. (1) bring your own shampoo because it seems none comes with the room (maybe they would have given it to me but I was already in the bathroom when I noticed so I simply used the soap) (2) bring your own iron if you think you'll need one, since what you'll find in there will probably be the worst iron you've ever seen, (3) be ready for a weird selection […] of TV channels, you basically get lots of sports channels + Fox but not much else, (4) don't expect a really clean room since what you'll find will be kind of clean. Dirty room, staff vacuuming at 10 pm when I was trying to sleep, they allow pets here and a dog was barking constantly. Poor room quality, toilet broken.

Coffee maker was broken - did not heat up the water. But room was clean though a little well-worn. Bathroom caulking was in need of a redo. Bathtub drain needs to be cleared. Wish air conditioner had a fan only ON setting to create white noise. Only had an auto setting which turned fan on and off changing noise level up and down all night. I had never stayed at this hotel before. The room was nice but not was I was expecting. It is what it says an "extended stay" hotel. I won't be doing that again. Price was good though.

I purchased a non-smoking room, but the room given to me was a smoking room at some point. The staff would not switch me out of the smoking room because he said the hotel was sold-out. I don't think he was telling me the truth because the parking lot was half empty.

Floor was not vacuumed. Microwave caugh on fire due to missing part. Worn cabinets and countertops. Whole room needed a facelift. Nice staff, though. Shop around - there are a lot of hotels in this area.

nothing special, can't complain for the price though. room was clean, one staff member was very friendly one was not. it wasn't in the best location, so if i do go back to that area i will probably stay somewhere else because it wasn't as close to campus or downtown area as other hotels were.

The Extended Stay hotel was okay for a short stay. The room has only one comfortable chair and if staying with a second person, that person must sit on the bed or on a straight-back hard chair.

BUYER BEWARE: if there's any chance you will be arriving into town past 11 PM, find another hotel! The front desk closes then (in fact, the woman there said she shut down her computer at 10:37); to her credit, she checked us in despite our late arrival, but not without her griping the whole way through. We requested a non-smoking room; the bedding […] was pocked with cigarette burns (not to mention the smell) and covered with hair (did someone have a cat in there?). The location was reasonably convenient to the U of I, but there are nicer, closer hotels on Neil Street. Seriously, not worth the money "saved" over choosing something a step up, especially since we would have been SOL had we not arrived when we did. Oh, and they charge you for internet access. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. For the low rate we paid, I was expecting a flea bag. However, it was immaculate and had a kitchen in the room!! The dresser showed some wear and the bath mat had a tear - but both were sparkling clean! The bed was comfortable and all the bedding was fresh. The hotel had not been remodeled in a while and the furniture/sheets/towels/appliances are well-worn but the hotel overall and room were neat and clean. If you like sparkling new hotels this one is not for you. The walls are thin so I would recommend asking for a 3rd floor room so you don't hear stomping feet.

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the University of Illinois and very reasonable rate. The first evening we were kept up all night by loud yelling in the parking lot (which ended with a Police car showing up) and constant noise from the floor and rooms above (we were staying in a room on the first floor). Every time someone used the water […] or toilet in the room above us, it sounded like a water fall in our room. To add to the noise problem, the HVAC unit made so much noise when cycling from heat to cool we finally just turned it off so we could get some sleep. While our room was clean for the most part, the carpet and paint seems dingy and worn and in need of replacing. Unless price is a major factor, I'd keep looking... I think you can find accommodations in the same area for just a few more dollars and I think you will be happier for it. We intend on returning to Champaign again next year (we were there attending a yearly event) and I plan on staying somewhere else next time. Read more
