Great place to stay rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was extremely helpful. Two blocks to the center of town and the beach definitely very convenient with great shops and restaurants on the strip.

This hotel doesn't deserve to have even 2 stars. AC didn't work ( temperature in my room was over 30 degrees Celsius), something leaked in our room and ruined our clothes and some guests next door were drinking and fighting at 1AM when I asked the manager to do something about it he said that everything is ok and looked at me like I have too high expectations. It was so bad and so scary that I decided to call carabinieri. If you want enjoy that region, please stay away from this hotel

Not the warmest atmosphere but close to the small beach in a small town. You have to ask if you want your heating on! Dont buy your bus tickets from the Tabachi next to the Europa Restaurant in the main square by the beach - he is an extremely nasty man, perhaps he hates Brits for some reason.

This hotel was great, very comfortable and clean, yummy breakfast and reception was very accommodating. It was only a 2 minute walk to the beach in the small town of Minori. Most of reception speaks good English and is happy to help. Nice pool. Only problem was parking was expensive (20 euro) due to limited space but it comes with valet service. Highly recommend this hotel.

Definitely the best choice if you are staying in Minori. Rooms are immaculate, pool is nice, and location is good for short walk to beach or for exploring other towns on the coast where hotels are more expensive. Minori was a pleasant surprise too! Small and relatively quiet but enough going on to be interesting. Close enough to Ravello and Maiori too.

A very pretty hotel centrally located with balconies overlooking the main street and the private swimming pool. Pristinely painted in white it looks bright and well cared for we thought it was the nicest looking hotel in Minori. All of the staff are friendly and helpful including the maids who prepare and keep the rooms to a high standard with lovely clean white bedding and fresh towels every day. The bedding is all brand new in white to match all the decor. Our room 378 was compact but exactly what we had requested on the top floor with a balcony over looking the street, outside of the room door just a short walk down the spiral steps outside was the swimming pool. The room was excellently located. Breakfast was as much as you could eat with a wide range of cereals, yogurts, fruits as well as cold meats, bread, crisp breads and cooked eggs, bacon, sausages and beans, with fruit juices and coffee etc to drink. The Amalfi coast is the prettiest coastline we have ever seen providing scenic routes wherever you visit. Minori is well placed for all the tours and places of interest including Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius which we visited. There are lots of little restaurants to choose from and the food was excellent everywhere we went. We only had a long weekend break for 4 days but enjoyed every minute of it. We would Highly recommend Minori and the Hotel Villa Romana to all our friends and family.

Very clean room, superb breakfast buffet with different food each morning. Usual selection of meat/cheese, bread, pastries and cereal, and strawberries made a guest appearance on one day! Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking on the Amalfi Coast is difficult, so I booked a parking space at the hotel. They parked the car for me after each use, and held the keys at reception which was a nice touch.

Rooms are fairly small but have everything you need, including a decent-sized balcony and mini-bar. Get to know your air con controls; the road noise at the front continues into the early hours so you'll need to shut the balcony doors. Spotless swimming pool with free sun-loungers. Buffet-style breakfast is fine and plentiful with a wide selection, but don't expect a "full english" (kidney beans with raw onions anyone?). Coffee and juices from the free vending machine are truly terrible but they give you a great excuse to stop at Gambardella's opposite for a proper Italian coffee (& pastry) on your way to the beach. The Villa Romana staff really make the place. Nothing is too much trouble and you are always greeted with a smile! Would recommend you stay for B&B only so you can sample the Minori restaurants; take-away pizza from Altamarea and ice-cream from Sal de Riso...

Conclusion: je n'y retournerais pas!

"Nice location"
05/26/15 Carol B
We stayed at this Hotel as part of a tour group so our experience may be a little different than solo travellers. On arrival, we were very impressed with the Hotel and its location nestling in the heart of this delightful little costal village. Streets are narrow and quaint necessitating a short walk from the promenade to the Hotel as coach unable to access, but luggage etc looked after by hotel porters. The Hotel itself is lovely. Family run and maintained to a very high standard. Rooms excellent though as with a previous review, our room had a connecting door to another room and it was as if we were in the same room; bathroom noises and conversations crystal clear, but the room was excellent with a small balcony, so no complaints. The food however was another matter. Perhaps it was because we were part of a tour and food was provided on a budget, but we didn't see a fresh vegetable in 8 days. Starters were generous in size (the homemade pasta dishes excellent), whilst the main courses were small and uninspiring. Small portions of wafer thin meat (escalopes!), swordfish in mint sauce, served with tinned peas/ frozen cauliflower/sprouts to name but a few of the delights. Desserts equally faired little better whilst the pasta based starters were excellent. Good choice for breakfast. Drinks & water expensive - 8 Euro for a beer compared to 4.5 Euro in the local bars - which deterred many of our fellow travellers from frequenting the hotel bar had prices had been a little more reasonable, The staff spoke excellent English and were friendly and helpful. Attractive pool at the rear of the hotel with loungers and towels provided. All in all, we had an excellent trip to Italy and a comfortable stay in the Hotel even if the food was disappointing for our group.

"Delightful family run hotel"
05/19/15 Jennifer F Norwich, United Kingdom
Minori is a small coastal village on the Amalfi Coast of southern Italy. This hotel is small, family run and offers good service and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are large, well decorated but simple in design. The rooms are scrupulously clean and the bathrooms are faultless- clean, plenty of good quality towels and a good supply of toiletries. The rooms have safes and air conditioning as well as comfy chairs and free wifi. The hotel prides itself on its cuisine and rightly so. Breakfasts offer a good choice of cereal, fresh pastries, preserves and fresh fruit. Dinners are cooked to order by a very competent chef. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Prices for water and wine are a little high but not excessively so. I would use this hotel again and it is an ideal base for exploring the Amalfi Coast.

Just back from a 5 night stay at this hotel and it was lovely. Al the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Roberta who sorted out a transfer from the airport at very short notice. Restaurant and food lovely. Pool area nice and relaxing and very clean. Unable to fault anything at all and would definately recommend this hotel.

"Excellent hotel & location"
05/08/15 louiseroach London, England
I was really pleased with the hotel, which has recently been refurbished. The rooms were crisp, white & clean and modern but in keeping with the building. We were in 375 and had a high ceiling and plenty of space in the room. I couldn't really find any fault with the hotel. They have a little swimming pool - but it was freezing when we went there. Breakfast was typical continental and lots of choices. My only issue is that they only served breakfast until 9:30 and sharpish they closed the doors and took all the food away. As we were on UK time, this meant having to get up early just so we didn't miss breakfast. Given it's a cold buffet, not sure why they couldn't just leave breakfast out until 10:30. Staff were mainly very friendly. Only other complaint was 375 had an ajoining door to the next room and we could hear everything as if they were in our room - snoring, going to the toilet, hairdryers, tv etc. I assume this is because of the door. They have garage parking at €20 a night which I thought was a bit much until you realise parking along the whole coast is a nightmare and costs around €3 an hour. So this was a relative bargain and they do valet parking and I only ever had to wait a few minutes for the car to be brought to the door (which was great with a toddler.) I found Minori an excellent location. The beach and the town are all at one level (some have the town up the hill and the beach at the bottom). It was a nice mix of locals and tourists. Bar Riso was great for cakes & tea, Gardienella had a lovely garden for a lovely lunch. Food at Locanda Pesacatori was good. Overall though, I wasn't overly impressed with the food along the coast. We drove to Amalfi for the day, but it was so busy with tourists and seemed a bit of a tourist trap. So was happy to retreat back to Minori. Ravello was lovely for a wander and lunch on a balcony overlooking the sea. Popped to Pompei which was interesting, but loads of groups of tourists. One tip, if you are going anywhere, go early. Traffic all along the coast is terrible and parking even worse. You need to get somewhere by 10 to get a parking space.

"A wonderful place to stay!"
05/07/15 Sofia O New York
We stayed at Villa Romana from April 25th- May 1st during our first trip to the Amalfi Coast. From previous reviews about not getting a room they saw on here, I decided to contact the hotel before our arrival and request a room on one of the higher floors (there are only 4) and with a balcony. We stayed in a perfect room overlooking the pool (which wasn't open yet) and into the neighboring houses- it was very clean, everything was white and very charming. There is an elementary school behind the hotel so you do hear children in the early mornings playing sometimes- we slept in two days and were woken up by this because we didn't expect it- no big deal it wasn't a real problem. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in Minori. The restaurant Giardiniello up the street is phenomenal and a must try. There is a gelato place in the main center strip of the town which usually gets packed by tourists pouring in from the surrounding towns. They have great gelato and pretty good drinks. It's a great place to sit and people watch. Roberta at the front desk was helpful from the start- she helped me coordinate our cooking class and tour of Minori. She also helped us coordinate our day trip to Capri which kept getting pushed back because of weather conditions. The only downside, I would say, was the breakfast. It was mediocre at best. The coffee was not good. Some of the pastries (the beignets were my favorite but they only had them one day while we were there) were ok and I really only ate yogurt there because the rest was not appealing to me (runny eggs, etc.). There is however a little cafe down the block which serves excellent coffee and pastries. Domenico was our translator, tour guide and chefs assistant when we took our cooking class at the hotel. He did an awesome job when he took us to the ceramics factory, limoncello factory and villa romana ruins. He was very knowledgeable, patient and informative. Chef Guiliano was a lot of fun during our cooking class and we learned a lot from him- a multiple day cooking course would have been ideal but we only wanted to try it out for one day first and see the rest of the coast. Overall our experience was wonderful and we would like to thank everyone at hotel villa romana for making our first trip to the Amalfi coast a memorable one. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. Minori is an adorable little fisherman village jam packed with so much personality. We visited Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento and maori (only for dinner at Torre Normanna) and Capri. Going back to Minori after a long day of activities was perfect because it was such a quaint place that reply accepted you with such warmth and made you feel at home and hotel villa romana made it even that much more comfortable.

The 4 star Hotel Villa Roman lives up to its star rating. I have just led a group of 24 U3a members on a tour of the Naples area and everyone was full of praise for this hotel. It's spotless and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The breakfasts are extremely good, offering a wide choice, and there's even an orange juicer. My room (to the rear of the hotel) was quiet: no ear plugs necessary. There's a swimming pool, open at the beginning of May.

We were here at end of April Hotel is very nice and clean. We had a quiet room at back. Staff other than restaurant very pleasant and helpful. Food is very inconsistent at dinner some meals were poor and others good. Breakfast has some choice but involves a lot of wandering around looking for items. After dinner "entertainment" poor. Pool was not open so nowhere to sit outside.

"Complete lack of Customer Service"
04/28/15 howbos12 Burnley, United Kingdom
Having previously stopped at this hotel in April 2014, we booked again to stay in early May 2015. I booked this hotel in Sept 2014, over 7 months before we intended to travel. With approx. 2 weeks to go before our holiday, my partner sent the hotel an email asking about local sights, boat trips etc., It was only then that we were told there had been an error on their reservation system and they had no room for us!! I booked this 7 months ago...... error? More likely we we bounced for a big coach party. Without one single word of apology, last minute they had booked us in some cess pool in Maiori instead. if my partner hadn't had sent that email enquiry, we would have turned up at the Villa Romana with no room available for us. Thankfully, Expedia who we booked through, got us sorted in a better hotel in Minori where hopefully the manager and staff know how to treat guests properly. Regards - Howard

"Lovely hotel shame about the outside"
04/11/15 annabelle w Norwich, United Kingdom
This was a very early pre-season trip but I still think the grounds of the hotel should have been up to scratch. Inside everywhere (almost) was finished to a high standard and the rooms I saw were clean, fresh and had good quality linen and towels. Some guests were not happy with the small shower and no bath. Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. Beds was hard but comfy and provided a good night's sleep. Some tiles missing in corridor and these had not been replaced. Pity. Outside was a dump-literally. The pool (understandably) was covered. but we had some nice weather and it would have been good to sit outside. This was impossible as there were no available chairs, nowhere had been swept or cleaned, there were bits and pieces of hotel detritus all over the place and it was generally 'out of bounds' due to its condition. The photo in the brochure shows a lovely area but I feel it would take a lot of work to bring it up to scratch. if the hotel is open and the door to the 'garden' is open it should be fit for guests to use. Personally I did not like the food. The pasta starters were fine and large helpings were served. The fish met with people's approval. The meat dishes were disappointing. Potatoes never varied, vegetables were almost non-existent and the meat was pretty tasteless. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Do not come here if you like bacon. 'Bacon' was like 2 inch squares of belly pork in some sort of liquid. Rolls were never fresh, but there was a great amount of cake! Juices were not fresh. I enjoyed my stay here but could never look forward to meal time. Staff were lovely as was service.
