Good value for money, good accommodation
"Our Favorite Place to Stay in T.O."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Our room had two minor issues which we reported at checkout. (Refrigerator did not work well due to broken seal on door and toilet needed a little tightening) I will trust the hotel will address these maintenance issues. The suite was clean, comfortable and pleasing for our stay. This is always our first choice of accommodations, so much better than a standard room. The Hotel has simple elegance and a top rate, friendly and efficient staff.
"An excellent hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value. An enjoyable stay all round.

"Nice Place"
This was a very nice place to stay in Toronto. I wasn't thrilled with the Chinatown neighborhood, but I felt safe enough. (I was traveling alone.) The hotel staff were very friendly and my room was very nice. The hotel is within walking distance of most everything. However, if you want to use mass transit, there is a streetcar stop right outside of […] the hotel. Read more

"huge rooms"
This place has huge rooms with TV, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Free continental breakfast makes it that much better.

"Super 8- Value"
Don't expect any sights from the window, or any usual amenities, but DO expect a great value for your money. Chinatown (surrounding area) really isn't that attractive, but the hotel itself is located within comfortable walking distance of a number of top toronto tourist destinations (such as those on the superpass).
"Super8 on Spadina, TO"
We were in town for the ballet and some Christmas shopping. 6 girls, 3 adults, 3 kids and the Super8 had a giant room for us with a sofa bed. The parking garage caused some confusion as one of our vehicles was taller than the 6' clearance and had to be parked in a lot down the block. Also we had to take 2 different elevators to get to the hotel from […] the parkade which despite the inconvenience, made the hotel more secure. The beds were clean, the sofa had some stains on the cushions, but the bed itself was clean. The bathroom was generally clean but not immaculate. The front desk person was very efficient and polite, but extremely busy. He was kind enough to arrange a taxi that would accomodate our large group. The continental breakfast was basic but sufficient. Read more
"3day stay at toronto"
If Someone is looking close to downtown and also wanna some good cheap option this is the hotel of your choice. Well the staff is mixed, I mean some were helpful and some werent. But overall the comfort level the location and everything worked for me. Its easily reachable by TTC and has good connectivity to other areas of downtown as well.
"China town"
If you like China and the Chinese culture then you will love the location of this hotel. The parking garage was difficult to park in due to the low clearence for our truck. The breakfast was subpar at best.

"dirty sheets"
Our smoke-free hotel room smelled of stale cigarettes and the sheets were dirty when we arrived. The sitting area needed cleaning. Otherwise, good service. Can't beat the location (proximity to downtown) and the nearby cuisine options (great Vietnamese restaurant on the same block open when we ventured out for the first time after we settled in late […] at night...and the place was busy). "Super 8 Downtown Toronto"
First thing know, the parking is just 3buildings before the hotel. Look for a small yellow and red sing with the 8. We drove around a bit but got cheap parking 2 blocks away. Had we known it was so close...oh well. Next the hotel is on a 3rd floor and the elevator system is not very rapid. Check in was easy enough. Our room was huge! Very clean except […] for the tub. Needed a good wash down with elbow grease not just a spray like the residue was telling me. Am breakfast is basic but I am happy with coffee and bagel. It is located next to Queen St and that is a great St to shop and eat. There certainly is a lot to do in the walking area. All in all the hotel was fine. Read more
We were trying to rest one morring when the maids would knot on door wanting to know if we were ready for them to clean. After that they didn't leave any towels or any bath supplys. We needed to call down three times to get bath supplys we were there four nights.
Very nice hotel. Very convenient to all downtown sites. Only downfall was parking for us. We own a full sized van. clearance in the ramp is 6'. We parked just 1 block down however for rasonable rate.

"It was good."
Hotel is located in the center of chinatown, toronto. If you like exotic mood in canada, it is good to stay here. The size and design of room is good. However, when I firstly open my room's door, it was not cleaned at all! I was upset with that, but they changed another room. The Internet access is not good at each room according to my experience in […] this hotel. Read more
"Hidden Gem"
Very clean, and much bigger inside than what you see from the street. Very diverse and international clientel, including families as well on vacation. Location is great(walking distance to Kensington Market, Queen St. W, etc), and Chinatown itself is fun with great food and markets. Great value for the money.
This hotel had clean, nice rooms. It was in the heart of Chinatown, so there were plenty of places to eat. It was a short walk to the Blue Jays game. Parking was available in the garage below the adjoining mall for a fee. There was a typical continental breakfast. The beds were slightly hard.
"Affordable, great location, and the nicest Super 8"
This was the nicest super 8 I've ever stayed in. It was in a great location. I was a bit worried after reading the reviews about the location it sounded like it might be sketchy. It was eclectic and fun. It was right on the end of Chinatown so Kensington market and Chinatown were both easy to explore. If you're comfortable and familiar walking around […] a city, then you'll feel comfortable staying there. We had a flat the morning we were supposed to leave, and the hotel manager called a service for us to help us get the tire changed and on our way. Parking was only $10 for the whole time if you didn't go in and out during your stay. With so many things within walking distance and the buses easy to navigate, the parking alone saved us a bunch of money. It's a great deal for the price and location. Read more

"spacious rooms"
Has a lot of spare room for the 2 bedroom. Very spacious, quiet, and peaceful... It was close to a lot of downtown attractions! Close to nightclubs and a great place to sleep after a good party night! Definately would go back... Complimentary breakfast was simple and was good enough for free inclusive!
"hotel in Chinatown district"
Be prepared for the Chinatown experience, which has positive aspects (wonderful restaurant food!) and negative aspects (bums begging for money, smelly fish sold in open market, crowded sidewalks). The hotel itself was located in a building above 2 floors of Asian shops, which is alright but they lock the doors leading to the hotel from the shop side […] via escalators at 8 pm when the shops close. The only way in after that is through a single elevator in the front of the building. (The 2 other elevators at the side of the building were broken the whole time we were there.) It was a hassle not having access to stairs and having to wait for a slow elevator all the time. The room itself was clean but the bathroom was the size of a small closet with barely enough room to even close the door. The room came with a small refrigerator, but it wasn't cold; only lightly cool, so we didn't trust storing food in it. The free breakfast buffet had only a few selections available (but at least it's better than paying for over-priced meals otherwise in Toronto). The location of the hotel was convenient -- within walking distance to 3 attractions in the City Pass booklets. The restaurants in Chinatown served delicious food at reasonable prices -- I recommend eating there if possible. Read more
"percect location with percect price"
You always hear bad rumours about certain areas within Toronto. Anyone who has given bad comments about this area and hotel have probably been spoon fed there whole lives or just old and ignorant to other cultures. This hotel is located a stones throw from queen street and the parking for the hotel is well marked on spadina st. On the WEST side of spadina. […] Look for the u turn lanes and signs on spadina. Very helpful if are coming from the gardiner. Just look for the Chinatown centre on spadina. The rooms were clean, quiet, and perfectly dark at nights. The elevator is located at the end of the hallway which was perfect for no noise. The staff was quick to bring up the iron and board. I just hung up the phone and the concierge was knocking on the door. Staff was perfect, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area for shopping and dining. Obviously being close to queen area it was easy to find something to do. The trolley on spadina connects u to union station which was perfect for getting to the concert at the acc. Dundas and queen also have trolleys which bring you to either ends of the eaton centre and or other shopping and food. Obviously not a 5 star hotel due to its location within a mall complex, but if you're going to Toronto to stay in a hotel then just stay home. Perfect for jays fans as you can walk to the Rogers centre in under 20 min. Check out Cora (great breakfast) down by the dome on the corner Wellington and peter. Very in expensive (for toronto). "Super 8 Downtown Toronto - Close to all Sites"
We enjoyed our stay at the Super 8. We found the neighborhood extremely convenient to all the neighborhoods and sites on our itinerary. The hotel staff was always cordial. We did have to solve our own plumbing issue after hours. However, the plumber came the next day. Also, the breakfast is VERY basic (cereal, bagels, packaged muffins, coffee & juice) […] and the towels are laughably thin. While all rooms have wireless, the connection is faster if you connect via ethernet cord (which you must supply). Read more
"The Super 8 Toronto-Chinatown"
The room was a nice size. The mall that the hotel is attached to is just a few steps away from being a flea market. The free wifi was very spotty at best at least in my room and didn't work very well.

"Super 8 China Town Toronto"
Finding the hotel was very difficult and even though we spoke to the front desk a couple times before we got there, they never once mentioned how to find the entrance. We got there at night and the hotel is in a mall- no way to get in. The underground parking is extremely confusing and no one bothered to give us instructions on how to get from the garage […] to the hotel. The garage looked pretty scary and the only signs they have, say “hotel parking”. Once we made it to the front desk, we were handed our keys and the maze continued in search for our room- clerk didn’t feel the need to take us to our room. He just told us to follow the signs. The room was OK, except that the soap was very limited and so were the towels. We will never stay there again. Read more

"Hotel in Toronto for Winter Vacation"
The hotel it self was very comfortable . The only concern that it was a bit of a walk to some entertainment areas. The immediate surroundings where good and there was some good shopping deals.

breakfast was subpar. no yogurt, and limited selection of bagels and fruit. elevator buttons were very hard to read. signage poor. room had a funky configuration - large unusable space. very poor lighting throughout the long and winding hallways and in the rooms. bathroom was very small and the toilet seemed extra small. alarm clock did not work. towels […] were thin. very little windows. "Excellent hotel in downtown Toronto"
The ideal downtown location of this Super 8 is extraordinarily convenient. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, quiet and very reasonably priced. Interior parking is conveniently located on a lower level of the same building and, given the location, not overly expensive. Staff members were uniformly helpful and polite. The only improvements […] I could suggest would be to make arrival and check-in protocol clear at the time of booking and to provide wireless internet access (currently wired only) in the rooms. On the whole, this hotel is worthy of a high rating and will suit all except those seeking a more luxurious experience. Read more

"Super 8 Downtown Toronto - great shopping"
This hotel is in China Town. Great shopping. Close to all must see sights. Train stops in front of hotel and easy to get around. Big rooms, there were 4 of us in each room and we didn't feel cramped.
"lovely low cost hotel"
really enjoyed our stay here when we first arrived in Toronto, and we were coming back to Toronto a week later and we booked in again as we were so happy with our initial experience. i think it is the best value hotel in toronto. handy all you can eat continental breakfast each morning, fitness room and perfect room with massive bed and TV. there are […] even cheap jacuzzi rooms. we walked everywhere around the city as this is well located to allow that. "Super 8-Toronto"
Hotel was adequate for our needs in Toronto. Location is good. Getting to the hotel is a little odd due to it being on the top floors of a shopping mall area. The check-in was smooth, except our keys would not work and had to be reprogrammed twice within about 5 minutes. The hotel elevator is very troubled and works about 30% of the time. My wife and […] I informed the manager and he seemed to think I must have been too dumb to operate an elevator and kept telling me the elevators were fine. I spoke with no less than 5 other guests who were having the same problem with the elevator. The rooms are good, but on the small side. Everything appeared clean and I did not see any evidence of bed bugs. The breakfast was pretty standard and adequate. Overall, the hotel was good, but the elevator situation needs to be addressed and the manager needs to understand that most upright walking customers can figure out how to use an elevator and should not be dismissed when then try to report an issue. "Exotic locale - great value"
This hotel is well located for sports events and very well priced for downtown Toronto. Rooms are standard . Our mattresses were hard. The Chinese mall which is co-located with the hotel can produce some strong smells which are off-putting first thing in the morning. Parking $20+/day.
"better than expected"
Knew that a Super 8 would be clean and fairly priced but didn't expect much. Room was bigger than I thought it would be. Hotel decor was much better than I thought it would be. Great location for baseball stadium. Side streets felt safe. Underground parking at a decent price. checked in at 3:45pm and out at 11am next day was only $22. not far from mall, […] museum, or lake and easy to get off and on highway. will deffinately stay again. "Nice stay"
Very nice and helpful staff, clean and large room.
"Great Location, good place"
I did not expect that it would be as good, and while located in Chinese shopping mall, it had all tranquility and quietness of the nice hotel. One thing I did not like was the breakfast - totally awful, but again - the stay was great.
"Super 8 in Toronto Chinatown"
An underground garage offers parking for a fee. The hotel takes up some floors of an urban mall. The glass elevators overlook the inside of the mall. Wifi was only available by the lobby but each room has wired RJ45 jacks for internet connections. My room was a double Queen (not a suite) but it still had a desk, loveseat, and coffee table which was […] nice. The hotel is in Toronto Chinatown so Asian cuisine is close by. The hotel is halfway between the CN Tower and the Royal Ontario Museum. They are about a 20 minute walk. Or you utilize the public transit system (streetcars and subways). There did not seem to be that many taxis around. Toronto seems to be very bike-friendly. There are bike lanes and numerous bike parking spots. Read more
"Super 8 is Great!"
The people who complain about this place obviously have never stayed at a Super 8 before. It's not the Four Seasons, it's not a W, it's a Super 8. That being said, my boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were very pleased. Free breakfast was a plus - though it gets very crowded. Free in room internet was great, since most other places we looked […] at had an additional charge for this. The location was great. We brought our bikes and were able to comfortably get around to all the central areas. We parked our car in the underground parking. $16 per night was more than reasonable. If you need it, there is also in and out priviliges for $3 more through the hotel itself. The room was a little oddly shaped (long rather than square), but was clean and offered more than enough room for us, our bags, and our bikes to fit comfortably inside. The in room safe was also a great addition to store cash, passports, lap top, etc. When you consider how little time you should be staying in your hotel room when you are on vacation, don't spend more than you have to. Use the money you save by staying here on going out to a nice dinner or doing some shopping. I recommend Value Village for some great finds! Read more
"Super 8 Toronto"
Room was clean. Parking could be better, although if your not using your car on a regular basis it doesn't become an issue. Price was comparable to others in the area. Walking distance to entertainment and Roger's Center. Would definately stay again. Slowest elevators in the city.
