We spent 3 nights in the Helena room and our stay was fantastic. The Helena room has a 2 person jacuzzi and a rain shower!!! There are even fresh cookies and a bottle of Sherry on one of the nightstands. Breakfast is server 830 - 9 and is amazing. The selection of food was excellent and it was probably the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B.

This was a lovely historic property near all the amenities of downtown Calistoga. Wonderful spaces to relax both indoors (a main living room area open to all) and outdoors on various patios. We appreciated that breakfast was served family style, so you could choose what (and more importantly how much) you eat. Only comfort-related issue we had is that the floorboards of the Howell Room were a bit squeaky - we viewed it as part of the the charm of an older property, but if you're noise-sensitive you might consider aiming for an upstairs room. Loved the flexibility of the innkeepers - we were grateful when we were able to book this stay a few hours before arrival, and they were very accommodating in leaving us instructions on how to access our room after hours (I am glad we called after making the online reservation.) Definitely recommend this as a base for the hiking, biking, and sightseeing options on the northern edge of the Napa Valley.

I'm not the biggest fan of B&Bs but this one is cozy and offers more privacy than most. The owners are gracious, thoughtful hosts. The only issue with the room was a noisy air conditioner unit.

Small hotel with a restaurant less than 4 miles from SFO. Comfortable room. Continental breakfast (basic choices ordered from menu the night before) delivered to the room. Pleasant location -- sits on the water overlooking a local marina and the Bay. Easy access to airport. Excellent choice for late flight arrival or a night before morning departure.

"Nice Inside But...."
06/27/15 james c San Jose, California
Very nice interior but the location is a problem right in front of very busy intersection that never seems to quite down. Breakfasts are very good. Unfortunately not worth the price even with a Living Social + we paid for an upgrade putting the stay above over $200/nt.

"A Couples First Visit to the Napa Valley"
06/20/15 NikkiH512 Lakeway, Texas
My husband and I stayed at The Craftsman Inn a few days ago. We actually were guests at the same time as a previous reviewer, his wife, and son. The interim innkeepers, Connie and Carl, were very nice and always made sure we had everything we needed. Carl even contacted us the morning of our arrival to check on our arrival time and to see if we had any food requirements or allergies. We stayed in the back of the inn in the Spring Room. The Spring room had french doors that opened to its own little patio. I was concerned that it would be too noisy due to some of the previous reviews but we weren't bothered by any noise at all. The bed was comfortable and I slept well every night. We were there for four nights. Coffee started brewing at 7 each morning which was perfect for me as I am an early riser. The mornings were beautiful and coffee on the private patio was a perfect start to the day. Connie cooked fabulous breakfasts from Gillian's cookbook which were served with champagne and orange juice every morning. Breakfast was served at one dining room table so all the guests met and chatted each morning. Not being a morning person, I didn't think I would like this but I loved it! Hearing about the wineries or the restaurants the other guests visited the previous day was not only fun and interesting, it also gave us great recommendations of places to go. My only negatives are that there was no coffee in the evening and that the place was a little dated. Hot tea was available if you didn't mind your water more warm than hot. Of course, the wine was always available in the evenings and that was nice. The place could do with some sprucing up but it does have a warm atmosphere and the innkeepers were fantastic. Calistoga - a very laid back and very casual part of the Napa Valley. It is in the northern part of the valley which gives you a whole range of wineries that people staying in Napa won't usually take the time to visit. This means you will not have to fight crowds at these wineries! Napa is not far from Calistoga in miles but with all the traffic, it can take a while to drive. For those wanting restaurants to dress up for dinner or a place that is a little more sophisticated, Yountville is the place to be. However, the trade off is more crowds and more difficult to get dinner reservations. You can stay in Calistoga and go to Yountville for dinner - just make sure you make your reservations several days in advance! Would I stay at The Craftsman Inn again? Absolutely. BTW - my husband loved it!

"Great experience"
06/16/15 Mark K
We had a great time staying at the Craftsman Inn a few days ago. The manager, Carl and his lovely wife, Connie were the most gracious hosts while the owners were away on a European vacation. We were treated each morning to a delicious, gourmet breakfast which was cooked fresh by Carl's wife. The room was nice, comfortable and clean and had a pull out couch for our son to sleep on in addition to the king size bed for us. The inn is within a five minute walk from downtown Calistoga next to all the cafes, restaurants and spas. The price was reasonable compared to the downtown Calistoga hotels. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend the Craftsman Inn if you are looking for a cozy, comfortable accommodation near down town in Calistoga.

"Amazing breakfast!"
06/01/15 Jane W Ann Arbor, Michigan
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which was our first experience with a bed and breakfast format. We missed the owners who were away on a trip of their own, but the caretakers and staff were excellent, and we had fun talking with other guests over breakfast in the morning. The location was perfect for exploring the Napa Valley and the great restaurants and shops in Calistoga are a short walk away.

"Best Breakfast in Nappa!"
05/25/15 BenPB Boston, Massachusetts
First of all these are the best host and breakfast in Nappa. The is so cute and well maintained. The bed was so comfortable. Beautiful clean bathrooms. The location is great, you can walk into Calistoga for shopping and dinning. They have brandy in your room! I stayed with my 21 year old who just graduated college. She loved the Inn even more than I did. We had the Howell Room, which had a very comfortable pull out.

"Perfect in every way!"
05/10/15 tamale74 Houston
We did a quick trip through the Napa valley prior to business meetings in San Jose. We found the Craftsman Inn online. The pictures do not do it justice. The property is very well kept, has its period charms but all of the modern amenities. The rooms were beautiful and quiet. The cookies and wine welcome in the room were perfect for the end of a long day of touring. Breakfast was exceptional, with a wide variety from poached eggs to oatmeal to a "cowboy casserole" to homemade yogurt. The mimosa's were delicious and it was great to visit with the other guests. All of us agreed that we will return to the Craftsman. It is a couple of blocks from downtown Calistoga, so easily within walking distance. When booking we mentioned that two friends were sharing one room, so the fold-out couch was already made when we arrived, which was a nice touch as well.

We have stayed at the Wineway Inn and it's sister b and b The Craftsman before. Not only is it comfortable but the owners and staff are lovely people. They provide some excellent room choices with queen beds and great bedding. The breakfasts are delicious with unique dishes and an array of fabulous dishes. Though the operation keeps growing, they try to keep prices down. I missed seeing Nick and his wife but they are plenty busy. With nice owners, the guests were nice too. The afternoon wine and evening cookies kept the guests in good humor too.The living room and dining room were very inviting for sitting and meeting other guests. Overall it was pretty, fun and great food.

"Family Wine Trip"
04/03/15 Jen S Rancho Cordova, California
We booked our room at The Craftsman and two rooms for our In laws at the Wine Way Inn. We called ahead of time to coordinate early check in and Gillian was very accommodating! Our keys and coupons were waiting for us in the room. The Spring room was very nice and we felt at home. Nice size bathroom with jetted tub was great after a long day wine tasting. We booked the room thinking we would hang out on private deck with in laws, but we ended up at the fire pit at the Wine Way Inn. The expansive decking there was perfect for hanging out. There is a door in the Spring room that connects to the neighboring rooms bathroom and we did here some potty time at 4am, but we understand that there is no control over the design of the house. The best part is the breakfast! So delicious! Gillian is an amazing cook and we purchased cook book for my mother. Sher has already baked three of the recipes in three weeks! Overall very lovely and accommodating B&B with gracious hosts!

We stayed in the Helena room that was very well done. I think I would have requested a room on the opposite side of the house since this room is next to a BBQ place next door. The breakfasts were amazing. Gillian is a great English cook. Wine every night in the parlor and coffee waiting very early before breakfast. I highly recommend.

Our visit started with David who greeted us and escorted us to our lovely room which was spacious and had a full bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. We enjoyed the complimentary wine on our private balcony. The location of the inn was so close to the main drag of Calistoga that we could easily walk to all of the wining, dining and shopping. Breakfast by David was so delicious and abundant. Overall an amazing stay at a fabulous B&B!!!
