"First year anniversary"
We spent 3 nights in the Helena room and our stay was fantastic. The Helena room has a 2 person jacuzzi and a rain shower!!! There are even fresh cookies and a bottle of Sherry on one of the nightstands. Breakfast is server 830 - 9 and is amazing. The selection of food was excellent and it was probably the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B.Genuine Expedia guest review
Gillian was a wonderful host, and the Inn did not disappoint! The Calistoga area is so adorable and laid back in contrast to Napa. We only wish we had more time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great little inn"
This was a lovely historic property near all the amenities of downtown Calistoga. Wonderful spaces to relax both indoors (a main living room area open to all) and outdoors on various patios. We appreciated that breakfast was served family style, so you could choose what (and more importantly how much) you eat. Only comfort-related issue we had is that […] the floorboards of the Howell Room were a bit squeaky - we viewed it as part of the the charm of an older property, but if you're noise-sensitive you might consider aiming for an upstairs room. Loved the flexibility of the innkeepers - we were grateful when we were able to book this stay a few hours before arrival, and they were very accommodating in leaving us instructions on how to access our room after hours (I am glad we called after making the online reservation.) Definitely recommend this as a base for the hiking, biking, and sightseeing options on the northern edge of the Napa Valley. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
a beautiful bed and breakfast, a real treat but no sidewwalk outside and two gas stations across the street. It was easy to walk into the little town of calistogaGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay at Calistoga"
Very pleasant, comfortable, better ventilation in the room would have made it even better! Short stroll to town restaurants makes the location good. Hosts very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Central to Calistoga and wine country"
What a wonderful surprise! Large room, quiet, great amenities and fabulous breakfast. Greeted with sherry and cookies in the evening, woken with delicious aromas of coffee and great homecooked food. We will be back.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Wine Country Value"
I'm not the biggest fan of B&Bs but this one is cozy and offers more privacy than most. The owners are gracious, thoughtful hosts. The only issue with the room was a noisy air conditioner unit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"first bed and breakfast"
Had a wonderful time. The couple that run the B&B were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. The only issue is the noise from the street was a little loud at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great B & B"
We enjoyed the B and B, the owners were very nice, the place was very quaint. Upon arrival there were cookies in the room with Sherry and in the sitting room there were two wines, chocolates and more. Breakfast was awesome, that woman can cook! Interesting talking to the other guests.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Love the Craftsman Inn!!"
I highly recommend this Inn! The staff was very friendly and helpful and it was a very cool, laid back atmosphere. At first there was no one there to even let us in but once we found the number to call, they were great and upgraded our room for free!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would stay again"
Everyone was lovely to me, I truly felt like a guest in their home. I was allowed to get my keys early which was a huge help with my plans for check-in day. Breakfast each day was very good. My room was quite large, comfortable and clean. The only small issue with it was a little hole in the window that had cardboard and duct tape over it which looked […] as if it had been there for years. However, I would definitely stay there again and also recommend it to friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice B&B, but roadnoise and noise from other rooms"
This is a nice place and we enjoyed our stay, but for the price, I am sure you can find locations that have more isolation between the rooms than this old houseGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms a little small, breakfast was epic!"

We stayed here one night, it was fine. It is right on the highway, so if you are a light sleeper might be an issue. We were fine. Very clean and comfortable, but a little small. the breakfast in the morning was one of the best B&B breakfasts I have ever had...really great and gourmet. The hosts were very nice....calling us to make sure we knew he way and that we could check in early...

Although frequent travelers, this was our first B&B. Gillian created a very welcoming environment from the moment we stepped foot on the property. The breakfasts were amazing! The location is fantastic as it's right around the corner from downtown Calistoga. The lively conversations at breakfast were great...so fun to meet new people! We enjoyed a quiet, cozy stay and would definitely return!
"The Craftsman Inn - fabulous!"

A fabulous Bed and Breakfast!!! We had 5 couples from all over the world reunite here for a weekend and it felt like home! Great porch space to hang out as a group. The breakfasts, made by Jillian, were truly out of this world ... everything homemade and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place and would love to stay here again!!!
"Disappointing Accommodations, Fabulous Breakfast"
06/20/14 Zonkers1971 Boston, Massachusetts
The room we had here was very disappointing. I would describe it as dumpy. It was very small and crowded with very large furniture, and was devoid of charm. I didn't expect it to be fancy, but given the price and the reviews, I thought it would be nice and even perhaps a bit charming. The furniture appeared to have been cobbled together from various Craigslist purchases, but not in a shabby chic way (which would have been fine), more in a desperate-grad-student-budget kind of way. The "closet" consisted of a recessed area with a shower rod and lace curtain hung in front of it. Also, the room had an air conditioner, but it was in the wall and blew right on your face while you were sleeping. We preferred windows and the fan, but most of the windows didn't open. The bathroom was clean and the jacuzzi worked, but it was nothing special. My other complaint is that there was really no pleasant area to sit outside on the property. They have a small deck-like area by the parking lot with a few chairs. It was outside, but not particularly lovely or scenic, which is a shame for Napa. It would be unfair though, not to mention the breakfast. It was truly fantastic. Each day, our host put out a wonderful spread, with hot entrees, lots of fruit, homemade scones or muffins, granola and yogurt, coffee and tea. The quality of the food was excellent. The place is an easy walk to the main street of Calistoga. We found Calistoga to be a little honky tonk for Napa/Sonoma, but still cute. We also were able to find good restaurants there.
"Gem in Calistoga."
06/18/14 Judy1120 Downey, California
Nice and clean rooms. Delicious breakfasts. What else can you ask for? We had reserved Palisades Room for three people for weekend getaway for three moms. The room was big enough and the room had a queen size bed and a sofabed. The sofabed didn't have the most comfortable mattress but it was doable for two nights. It was located at the end of the town however everything was within walking distance. The only flaw we found was nothing really was open after 10 PM in Calistoga and we really wanted to go out for some midnight snack. Anything that was open was about 10 miles away.
"You'll love it!"

The property is a wonderfully restored and updated Craftsman style property. We were nicely welcomed and taken care off by Gillian who owns the property with her husband. Our room was large and nicely furnished, the bathroom everything you could want including a two person Jacuzzi tub. Gillian prepared a great breakfast, in fact, my wife purchased her cook book which included some of Gillian's own recipes. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back!!
"IN THE TOP 5 OF FOOD AT AN INN"
05/30/14 carol p San Francisco, California
We always love a little getaway at an inn and the sleepy town of Calistoga is perfect for this. The town is just beyond the crowds but still darling enough for good shops and excellent food. The Craftsman Inn is run by an English couple, Nick and Gillian, and the name tells the story of this old Craftsman type inn. It is very authentic, well decorated, clean and walking distance to town. The thing that makes this stand our from others, though, is the owner, Gilliane. Up front and center int the living room is a copy of her beautiful cookbook. I hadn't known this about her when we booked the inn but was delighted and knew that I was in for a treat for breakfast. She knew I wasn't a big carbohydrate person, so she adjusted the meal for that day to accommodate me, I am sure, We joined other guests at the table and on the side table were fresh, sweet strawberries, homemade yogurt and homemade granola. Coffee and tea were an option. The main breakfast was one of the best fatatas I have had. It was filled with cheese, spinach, bacon and cherry tomatoes of exact proportion. There was homemade red and green salsa to add, as an option. There were also cooked apples and I spooned the green salsa on them, which gave a sweet, spicy taste. It was delightful. She also had a cake stand with homemade blueberry muffins. A large pitcher of orange juice was available on the table. If you are looking for good food, a clean and pleasant place to stay, The Craftsman Inn is for you.
"Nice Location, Splendid and Personable Service"
05/06/14 Austin M
The Craftsman Inn is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast in Calistoga, near the upper tip of Napa Valley. Nick and Gillian run the B&B, along with a few helpful staff, and could not have been more fantastic. We have been to Napa and Sonoma a few times before and stayed in either Napa or Sonoma hotels but wanted to try something different upon this return trip. Rooms: The rooms are surprisingly spacious. We stayed in the Diamond Room (one of the jacuzzi rooms listed on the website). I would recommend staying in one of these larger rooms, though the others at the B&B do not appear to be sized particularly small. We had a balcony to sit outside, a jacuzzi in the room, and a separate shower. The only catch is the bathroom does not have a door into the main bedroom, so if you prefer more privacy, this could be a consideration. The queen size bed was very comfortable and the personal AC unit in the room was nice, meaning we could control the temperature of our individual room instead of relying on the overall AC in the house. Even the toiletries were of great quality, sourced from L'Occitane. Nightly cookies and port are kept in your room as a night cap (definitely try the cookies - they are excellent!). Service: We arrived later that when Nick and Gillian would be at the Inn, but Gillian left written instructions to our room, freshly baked cookies, and directed us to a welcome glass of wine. In the morning, Gillian and the Inn staff prepare a champagne breakfast that is wonderful (much better than many places we have eaten in Napa). Homemade scones are served with frittatas, homemade yogurt and granola, coffee, tea, champagne, orange juice, etc. We enjoyed talking with some of the other couples staying at the Inn and were able to get some great restaurant recommendations and other wineries to try. For some that do not like the smaller atmosphere, this could be a consideration in where to stay, but we appreciated the change from the environment of some of the Napa area hotels. Location: The Inn sits at the top of Napa Valley. When we first looked on a map, this seemed to be a good drive from most of the wineries we were interested in visiting, but, in reality, the drive is about 15 minutes and posed no problem. Additionally, many wineries are located nearby within a 5 minute drive and even one or two within walking distance. Being near the top of the Valley also means less traffic passes through at night, giving a quiet night's rest. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at The Craftsman Inn. We appreciated the cozy hospitality, fresh cookies, and advice from Gillian and Nick about restaurants, their favorite wineries, and the convenient location. We will definitely be returning again.
"Fantastic place to stay"
04/02/14 Daveythenib London, United Kingdom
Brits Gill and Nick run this terrific B&B in Napa Valley with English aplomb and humour. Great spot for dropping off while wine tasting or just moseying around. The breakfasts and packed lunches are different, interesting and healthy. The rooms are very comfortable and overall the Craftsman has a most welcoming vibe
"Perfect location and quaint too"
03/22/14 Kelly R Belmont, California
This place is located at one end of downtown. It's right on the main highway which made it really easy to find. They have several rooms and we stayed in the Helena room which was upstairs. Very quaint, lovely room. We chose this one for the spa tub! Breakfast is terrific! Our host Gillian greeted us on the first day and made us a delicious breakfast the next day! Very friendly and accommodating!
