2-2.5 seems right. Economical. I didn't wipe the all handles with alcohol, but I've heard it's a good idea. No phones in the rooms. I'd try another economical motel before returning to see how Motel Blu measured up. Friendly people.

Well, it does not look like the pictures they posted on the website. First of all, the lobby area stank, it didn't look clean at all. there was no lighted area where my room was located, we had to play with the door to find the place to insert the key. Once inside the room, it was another mess. There were holes in the bedsheets, the matresses were more […] like cardboard, the closet was missing a glass door, there was a hole on the side of the air conditioner was and they tried to cover it with aluminum foil, there was a bed lamp with no lightbuld and no place to plug it in. the bathroom was a nightmare. There was a leak under the sink, the bathtub didn't look sanitary at all. the shades were all slash and messed up. Our room didn't even have a phone or alarm clock. The pool area was full of beer bottles and cigarette buds, and we asked for extra towels at the front desk and to this day 02/26/2013, we are still waiting for those extra towels. And they offered a continental breakfast . . . . . They lied!!! There was no "Continental Breakfast", what they had was two vending machines and a microwave. So no, I wouldn't recommend this place at all, not even to my worst enemy (and that's a lot to say). It was a complete and total nightmare! I paid less than $135.00 for hotels that offered excellent service and were in A LOT better condition than this place. So think before you book this place, THINK REALLY HARD!!! Read more

The service of the staff is terrible, we were 4 people and we only had 1 towel, I ask 3 towels more, but never were brought. When I arrive, they give me one room that was occupied, full of clothes, they they answer me "Sorry". The location is terrible, I don't recomed this Motel for nobody.

The hotel is a garbage dump! The room was filthy, the carpet was disgusting, the bathroom wall had a hole the size of a fist, the cabinet was coming off the wall, and the bath tub was nasty. My friend and I had to buy sheets for out beds because the linens were stained. We also bought towels for the same reason. The hangers in the closet (the closet […] only had one half of the sliding door and the glass mirror was broken) were mismatched. This hotel for some bizarre reason is down by expedia as a 3 star hotel. It is a one star hotel with a swimming pool. Noisy people out in the pool when trying to sleep. It is a local motel. Besides the pool the next best thing of this motel was the cooperation of the staff. They were very helpful. In my entire 5 night stay I noticed not even one insect. From what I was told from a local, this motel has greatly improved. With the current renovations it only gets better.

The motel was disgusting. There were cigarette burns in the comforters and blood stains on the wall and the sheets. As soon as I got into the room, I checked the bed and there was hair on the pillows. They give you two pillows per bed and they were stained yellow. No hot water in shower. Front desk said I had to take my showers in the middle of the day since everyone else was using the hot water in the mornings and evenings. BUT...the sink had hot water at ALL times, while the shower NEVER had hot water. The room smelled. The sheets had something all over them, not sure what it was, but it looked like makeup. […] There were no parking spaces and I had to sleep in my car one night until 5am when I was told someone would be leaving for work. There were 15 spaces in the lot...that is all. The refrigerator was broken and I was told they would trade it out from another room (which also they told me they had none to switch me to when I had no hot water) but they never showed up. The curtains were sheers, so there was absolutely no privacy and if the lights in my room were on during the evening, you could see in my room as if there were no curtains at all. The coffee bar was OLD coffee...no creamer and sugar had ants crawling on it. The breakfast was stale donuts that came from a package. At 3am on the morning after I arrived, there were 2 police cars in the parking lot for quite a while with 2 people handcuffed and lying on the hood of the car. Since I had SHEERS for curtains, I was privy to every light as well as the noise coming from the parking lot. The last night I was there, a man was screaming at a woman for 45 minutes. the toilet is always backed up. even maintenance confirms that the motel has a problem with the sewage system. one switch controls both light and ceiling fan. so, they are either both off or both on and the room is lit up if you like the fan, but it is also warm when you want the light off.

There were bugs in the bathroom (I have no idea what they were, but they looked like winged ants), so I had to go on a hunting mission before I was able to take a shower, as they were all over the place. The bathroom floor didn't look clean, so we had to use flip- flops inside the shower. The rooms were OK, but the music in the swimming pool area was […] really loud and therefore stayed awake until they turned them off (like at 12 am). They offer continental breakfast, but there isn't a toaster for the cold bread and bagels. The coffee was also undrinkable. Motel was in class of M_tel 6. Rated 2 stars. I agree. I called ahead to make sure pool was filled and working (It was, I never used it). Several people told me it was in a "Bad neighborhood". It probably was. we used it to sleep in and we slept through the night. The "Breakfast" was nothing more than brewed coffee, thawed coffee cake. I drank the coffee. […] Room had no iron/board, or other amenities. For the price, it was fine. I paid forty dollars more for our final night and stayed closer to South beach. Wasn't much happier there. Suggesstion is stay close to the action so you can rest in the room and then back to the beach, bar or whatever you fancy. The Blu Motel is in an excellent location to reach downtown venues via public transportation. Access to the beaches was within Walking distances via Public Transportation. I felt my possessions were safe and the staff was engaged enough to be visible and cognizant of their surroundings. The Owner Chris was on the property and accessible. As this hotel is an older hotel, I was prepared for everything to be of an older quality but was pleasantly surprised at the bathrooms which had been recently redone. Since we were in the area for my wedding, all of my family stayed in this hotel. There was nothing consistant in the rooms. Some had small refrigerators, some had a small table and chairs. […] others had only the bed and a bureau. The pool was beautiful and large, although not heated and since it is February, it was a little cold for me. My stepson had a wonderful time playing in the pool. I booked through a company online, and was told I would receive a breakfast buffet if I paid 10 extra dollars. There was no buffet, barely a continental breakfast. If you consider coffee and a banana continental. Pulling into the parking lot you can tell its a run down motel and it is in a bad part of town, We found out later there was a strip club […] next door. Our air conditioner was taped to the wall in our room so clearly we sweated all night. For a one night stay it was okay for us, but any longer would have been torture. Our cab driver was hesitant to take us to this location. He said itwas an unsafe neighborhood. There wasn't anyone in the office when we arrived. Our room was bare except for a TV that only worked on one station, two beds and a table with the TV on it. No lamps, no chair, only 2 thin towels and a torn thin curtain on the window.
