"Enjoyable visit with just a few drawbacks"
Comfortable stay and friendly service in a clean but slightly dated hotel. For the price, superior room disappointingly small in size, quite hot and stand alone fan had to be used to keep it cool. Excellent breakfast. Good location; ten minutes walk to town centre and station close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location, especially if using public transport. Great if you want spa, swimming pool sauna and the like. very friendly staff. Room could do with attention to detail, then it would probably gain another star.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We chose this hotel because we wanted a swimming pool and I could not find many decently priced hotels which could offer spa facilities. Overall the hotel is good, staff are friendly and helpful. We had booked two rooms , but we didnot like the location of one of the rooms as it was right in the corridors, so they upgraded us to a superior room for […] one night and moved us to a new room the next morning - which was great. They charged us for the newspapers - though only a small amount but I think the receptionist should have mentioned this while asking. Overall, hotel is located within 5-10 mins walk from the beach. "Very professional hotel"
We were greated by a friendly receptionist and received the same manner from all of the ther staff members. The room was as a normal hotel room would be.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A place to be if your looking for pampering Sauna couldn't be fixed in the time of 1 1/2 days. Can become over crowed in the swimming pool area. Massage girls are not experienced and are only new into their work.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Melville Hall Hotel"
Room and bed - great. Food - excellent. Service - great. Wish I had known beforehand that Utopia Spa is in-house, and available free to guests - would have taken my swimsuit. Room on 2d floor, no lift (healthy but a nuisance with suitcase). Really appreciated extra help from staff members e.g. help with bags; choosing wine with dinner. Wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Personnel de l'accueil excellent (rapide et efficace). C'est moins le cas pour celui du restaurant... Chambres correctes en taille. Cependant la salle d'eau aurait pu être plus petite et la chambre un peu plus grande.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Amazing break with my sister"
07/30/14 Monique T
My sister and I got an absolute bargain break! £89pp for lunch, 3 course dinner, breakfast, ferry crossing and £35 towards a spa treatment! We had a wonderful time. I upgraded my treatment to a full body hot stone massage which was wonderful, one slight muggle but resolved super quick by the management. The facilities where lovely, the indoor pool very refreshing and the outside area was very pretty. The food was delicious, drinks lovely and well priced for a hotel. Considering the cost of the break the value was incredible. All the staff are lovely, especially the lovely chap behind the bar. Very well trained waiting staff, everyone seemed very happy. I really can't praise this hotel enough, although somewhat old fashioned in appearance the treatments and facilitates are bang up to date and the menu is modern as well. Highly recommended and will certainly be returning!!!
"Valentines done & stay over priced"
We stayed her for valentines done & stay booked a superior room with sparkling wine chocolates rose petals Was very disappointed with the room size Jung size bed was 2 beds joined together , room was a normal double size right by main door way. Room upstairs could hear they're TV & they woke us up at 4am laughing & stomping around. Dinner was terrible 1 dry pork loin chop minute vegetables Cost me £189 for this stay. Bar drinks are way too expensive & the health dos very small. I have complained I was given just 15% off another stay , we feel £35 refund is better. I don't like leaving negative feedback but this valentine Dine & stay was not as advertised The chef needs to make sure good portions are bigger as they are child size & paying £189 for one night you expect a decent size room. Staff are helpful & it's clean that's the positives .

Excellent choice of food which was delicious. Very helpful and friendly staff (see photo). The room was spacious and the bed comfortable :) Used the fan constantly in the room because of the heat. The plunge pool in the leisure area was not to deep which will suit people who aren't confident swimmers -such as my wife. The outside pool was the same and the hot tub was very relaxing. My wife especially enjoyed the indoor Jacuzzi. The extra treatments ie the back massage I had were amazing. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable honeymoon. My wife and I felt really sad that we had to leave - we could have easily stayed another week here. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to such a wonderful and lovely experience Mr and Mrs Todd (Andrew and Suzanne)
"Service provided by staff at the spa hotel was excellent, kind, curtious and couldn't do enough for you."

Enjoyed a three night stay at Meville Hall. While parts of the hotel are a little old fashioned the spa facilities are modern and service provided by staff is excellent. The treatments provided by staff were excellent and service was to a high standard. Rooms were a little noisy from other guest but comfortable, so you could get a good nights sleep. Food at the hotel was part of a set dinner/lunch menu and it was to a good standard. All in all I had a very relaxing break and was very impressed with the service provided by staff at the hotel, specifically service provided by the beauty therapists and reception.
"Lovely break away"

My partner and I had a lovely stay at the Melville. The staff were always very friendly and welcoming. Our room was simple but all we needed, and the whirlpool bath very relaxing. We didn't eat so can not comment on food. The spa was perfect for us - never over crowded and open til late which was great - especially enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi on a chilly evening. Nice location - lovely views from out window and only a 5min walk to the beach front and shops. Would stay again!

"Lovely nights stay"

Stayed with my husband for a break away from home and work on the Island and have to say the hotel was lovely. Adults only gives it a relaxed and quiet feel. The spa is fabulous. Had 2 fabulous treatments. A jug of Pimms by the pool. Afternoon tea which was superb. And a wonderful breakfast. We were kindly upgraded to a four poster room which was a lovely touch. Few maintenance issues in the room which we reported...no hot water, no bulb in the dressing table lamp, marks on the wall, dusty table and in a general need of a bit of a dust round the edges, which if we'd paid full price for may have been a niggle but an upgrade we cannot complain. Breakfast was lovely, sitting alongside the pool area with the glass doors open on a sunny morning followed by a swim before home. What could be better. Staff really helpful and quiet, nothing is too much trouble. We left rebuilt and refreshed. Planning our next trip. Thank you team Melville Hall.
"Great place to stay in Sandown!"
Came across this little gem by chance... Fantastic staff and customer service. The food in the restaurant is to die for and the facilities surpass it's competition. Rooms are comfortable, well kitted and spacious with high ceilings, large en-suites and excellent showers. I didn't have chance to use the spa facilities but they looked amazing and all the guests were very much enjoying themselves. I would highly recommend this hotel and will revisit time and again.
"Just like the Med!"

A most welcoming prospect, the Melville Hall Hotel under blue skies. The welcome was also warm. Fabulous swims in the outdoor pool, comfortable room, lovely food and friendly staff. Great local walks and plenty to do on the Isle of Wight.
"Wonderful relaxing break"
07/09/14 Gemma B Freshwater, United Kingdom
My fiancé and I are islanders but needed a relaxing get away. We had a bargain stay as it was out of season time. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. The spa is small but don't let this put you off as it's wonderful we had treatments and had a four course meal and a nights stay with a 4 poster bed! Just what we needed.
