First off, when I had first walked in the the front desk to check in, I was not immediately acknowledged. The lady at the desk was talking to one of the cleaning ladies and did not even mention that she will be with me in just a few moments. I had to literally ask her where do I check in as if I might have been in the wrong location. As in the other reviews, this is an older hotel but I loved that it was in walking distance of the main casino and was QUIET. We had pets and they were comfortable as well. The rooms were very clean, well-kept and everything worked. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We actually booked only 1 night and had to extend at the last minute. […] The hotel staff made it happen and we were able to stay in our original room. Courtyard at John Ascuagas Nugget is the old, old probably original building where "Nugget" started. It's located on the north side of the freeway while the new "towers" are on the south side. My BF & I booked this hotel based on the price, casino, and pets friendly. We (includes two doggies) really had a comfortable stay in here. Like other reviews, hotel is outdated, but with this price, it is acceptable. Three contacts with hotel were done prior to arrival requesting room area for our stay. Upon arrival a completely different area was given. Finally, we were uprooted and moved to the requested area, however now there was an additional charge. We stayed in the requested area last year and there had not been an additional fee. When inquiring about the […] extra fee I was told I should have been charged last year, too. The run around and hassle with the rooms definitely added frustration to our "getaway". The supplies in the rooms were not good quality. The towels were like sandpaper, bed worn out and very uncomfortable, bedspread worn out and old, pillows were flat and hard, room had no ice bucket--when asked I was told no more available and was given a bag to put ice in, hair dryer in the bathroom had been yanked out of the wall. Had a mother and her 4 kids next door and they were up and noisy until almost midnight. I think the hotel should put those with children together on the same floor or wing and those without elsewhere. Very nice and clean room but very tired the next day.

WE DID NOT HAVE ROOMS AT THE COURTYARD. I made several reservations for family for a wedding. When we arrived at the hotel (tower) to check in, we were told that theCOURTYARD WAS CLOSED and we were up-graded to the west tower at no extra charge. I have never stayed at the courtyard so I don't know what the accommodations are like there but the west […] tower was very nice. The rooms were as ordered. Non smoking rooms were just that. I have stayed in non smoking rooms on non smoking floors that smelled very much like smoke. The rooms were as requested, were clean and well appointed. One of our party up-graded to the east tower. That room was newer looking but actually smaller. Our rooms had the beds as requested, a small couch with coffee table, a small table with two chairs, a desk with chair and a dressing table with mirror and chair. The closet was small but adequate.Wi-fi was available if wanted. All of us were very pleased with our accommodations at the Nugget. Rosie's Restaurant had great food and they stored our homemade wedding cake for a day until the time of the wedding reception at another location. Thank you, Nugget, for a very pleasant stay!! The room was pleasing and quiet. The only thing about staying in hotels these days, the other people staying there are not quiet when coming in in the middle of the night. No consideration these days. Maybe post a sign at the elevator to please be quiet in hallways.

Upon arriving at the Courtyard a sign at the door informed us that the Courtyard was closed and to see the Main Desk at the Nugget for more information. Upon doing this I was informed that we would be upgraded to a very nice room on the 24th floor of the West Tower. It was a spacious room with updated furniture and fixtures. Everything about our non smoking room was extrememley old, worn out and smelled of stale smoke. It was hot and muggy and they took two hours to come up and fix the air conditioner after we called to complain. This hotel was closed for several months last year and it opened mysteriously recently. They did not refurbish it while it was closed in any way […] that I could see. They charged a $7.00 Resort Fee. I inquired why as there was no valet, no restaurant, no gym and the outdoor pool was closed. Although this hotel has falsly advertised there is an indoor pool. Mike at the counter refused to give me an explanation. I assumed it was because across a parking lot and a street you can go visit the main Nugget Hotel, however, anyone else can too. Overall, it is a horribly maintained old hotel not worthy of Expedia Customers. Read more

Our stay was AMAZING due to the staff upgrading our room to a suite because our reservations were cancelled by hotels.com.. Luckily I had my print out of our confirmations and the Nugget took very good care of us out of kindness and it was very appreciated.. We will be staying there again in the future with our kids..

Mine was a over night stay but I couldn't be there for more than 6 hrs. It is 2 star clean. Has few amenities except you can't lock your restroom door (same for any room in that hotel!). Staff were fast and helpful though, not sure if it matters in this case.

That concrete swimming hole was first rate. They even had bicycles to ride but they didn't go anywhere. Everybody was so nice to me and made me feel right at home, but that home isn't near as fancy. They were going to put me up in the courtyard but they didn't have room down there so they put me in this big tall fancy hotel.

The hotel staff wasn't competent, tv remote didn't work, pay per view wouldn't work, phone barely worked. Maintenance guy was over subscribed, likely because the rest of the rooms had similar problems to ours. JA Nugget should be embarrassed of this property, and the "C Team" that run it. The hotel is old and run-down. Rooms were reasonably clean. No free wi-fi, no continental breakfast, no blowdryer in the bathrooms, no fans in the bathrooms, mattresses were hard as a rock, no restaurants in the hotel. Housecleaning service was non-existent. When they cleaned the room they took all the used towels and wash cloths, but left no replacements. […] I called housekeeping and asked for towels and they said they bring them right up. No one ever showed. I had to track-down the cleaning cart to get new ones. I ran out of toilet paper, told housekeeping, and they said it would right up. No one ever showed.
