The hotel's own website seems to understate its excellent location, as it has an opening into the main street of Sorrento just a short walk from the main square. It is within walking distance of the scenic old mill, the train station, the marina (with its outstanding seafood restaurants) and its stunning views of the bay of Naples and the hillside villas and hotels of Sorrento. The staff was very accommodating to our special needs, allowing us to leave our luggage and to use its restroom facilities even after we had checked out. Also, the price of the rooms was reasonable. Our party did not take the advice of the female night clerk who recommended that we eat at the restaurant next door; instead, we ate at Ristorante Delfino at the marina (which I also highly recommend).

Very happy with Hotel Sorrento City. Staff spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. Room was very comfortable with the only drawback being the TV in the room had only one Engligh speaking channel (MTV...ugh). Excellent location and easy to find right on the main street near the train station. Very good breakfast and free Wi-Fi included which worked very well in the room. Highly recommend Hotel Sorrento City.

We were going back to Charlotte NC. From the moment tbat we steped into the lobby area, We were greeted, taken care of. The hotel management to the person that carried our baggage to our room I felt that I was coming back to friends. I will stay at this hotel when ever I am in Naples. It was an outstanding short stay. What a palace.

"Be Aware of standards at the Hotel Gigli"
Firstly there is no porter to help you with your luggage but there is a VERY small lift. Our room stank! It took me a few minutes to work out what the smell was, then I realised someone must have previously thrown up in it. We complained and were given another room. The room was adequate but not of a high standard, the front panel for the safe was hanging […] off and I wondered if I used it whether it would work for long enough to get my things back out again, the fridge didn't work properly and the air conditioning only stayed on while you were in the room and wasn't that effective. Our evening meal did nothing to improve our impression - my daughters' meals took an hour to arrive (they only had pasta) and mine arrived after they had finished their meals !! The details say that the hotel has been recently refurbished , the hotel may have had new carpet but generally it looks a bit tired particularly in the restaurant area. The level of English spoken here can cause problems for example when we asked about the air conditioning we were given two extra towels instead! There is a general whiff of bins in the air. The area in which the hotel is located is not one of poverty but nonetheless is poor, the area is generally rather dirty with lots of litter in the roads and streets, peeling paint and graffiti everywhere. There is a locked parking area for residents of the hotel and I would advise you to use it - there are no signs to indicate how to find the hotel from the parking area but it is only a few minutes walk but signs would help) so although the Hotel Gigli scores quite low compared with other hotels we stayed in (we stayed in 7 in total) you would be hard pushed to find something of better quality given the area. It is a reasonable location for accessing Vesuvio, Pompei and Naples etc but you will need a car, be prepared for winding narrow lanes in which Italian drivers appear to want to push you off or scrape your car - enjoy! "Snyggaste hotellet på fel ställe"
Synd att ett så fint hotel ska vaar placerat i ett så risigt område. Omgivningen gjorde mig dyster till sinnes. Men när man völ kom innanför dörrarna så blev det annat liv i blodomloppet. Snyggt, mycket snyggt i entren. Snyggt i lobbyn. Snygt i baren. Jättesnyggt i matsalen/frukostrummet. Och ett snyggt rum i en snygg korridor. Vänlig personal. Allt […] kunde ha blivit en femma om inte omgivningen hade varit så totalt nedgången. Vi hittade till slut en pizzeria med en av dom bästa pizzor jag ätit. Men det kunde inte på långa vägar väga upp resten av utomhusintrycket. Ät först och åk sedan till Gigli för övernattning. Då blir ni mer än nöjda. Read more
