Hotel has upgraded rooms that are very very nice. The ones that are not are ok but prefer the upgraded. Ask for upgraded rooms!!. Service at the hotel is excellent. It is not good for a penson on wheelchair because to get the elevator or go to your room you need to climb 10 steps. People at the hotel are very nice and help you with the strollers and […] go to your room. They are always looking forward to help you. You can call to have somebody help you bring strollers down. Pool for kids is great. food is overpriced but good. Breakfast is included and very good. Beach is not beautifull but it is clean and best in cartagena which has always had dark sand. hotel gives you a place to stay with shadow and 2 chairs. We had excellent time there in Cartagena and at the Dann . Stayed with 9 month old and 3 year old in swite ocean view. We will go back to Dann. I will give 5 stars for service but 4 because of the stairs and not good for strollers or wheelchair. Read more

I just re-read some of the reviews that others had posted, and I think we stayed at different hotels. The rooms were large with nice tile floors, comfortable beds and wonderful views. The travel person was particularly helpful. I think this hotel is the only one in Cartagena with a private beach, but the beach is not that nice. Also the beach vendors are simply obnoxious. The worst hotel I ever stayed at. I got a room next to house keeping and every ten minutes the doors where slammed. All night making noise and talking. It was in possible to sleep. Then they charged me extra person in the room. When the hotel was aware it was 2 people. They ended charging me an additional 40dollars per day in order for my wife to be […] in the same bed as me. The Dann far exceeded my expectations. It was beautiful, exceptionally clean, had a great breakfast , lovely pool and its own beach access. The security was top rate and the staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. My deluxe room had a large balcony and panoramic view of the Caribbean all the way to the walled city. Very romantic . I am not sure how this didn't get mentioned in any previous reviews but essentially besides the front desk no one, not any of the hotel staff speak English. It was an effort to get any service to my room with my limited Spanish skills. Also for the price I paid I expected some more service and a good feel but I felt as though I was alienated for not […] speaking Spanish. Very disappointed in service overall- just a note- there is no massage or spa here- that is bogus. Nor is there a private beach area. The hotel has one "activity" which was a ridiculously overpriced trip to the isla Rosario islands. The restaurant was also horrible- after two tries I just ate outside the hotel, luckily it's in a good area. Also the "breakfast" is literally three things- some fruit, cold cuts, and coffee- barely enough for a decent meal. The only saving grace was the room had a balcony and overlooked the beach. If not for that I believe I would have left the hotel after the first night for the Hilton. Read more

This is a really nice hotel. I would rate it a 4 if it wasn't for the location and pool. The good: The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay and both were clean, airy, comfortable and the showers have hot water, which is considered a luxury in Cartagena. The king suite with ocean views have amazing ocean […] views (worth the extra bucks). The bad: The pool. Do not stay here if you want to get a tan. The pool barely gets any sun (you will literally chase the sun the entire day moving back and forth-it's annoying-and you will not be able to get sun for more than a few minutes at a time). Additionally, the pool is not well maintained. The water was cloudy and needed cleaning. Also, the location is not the greatest. It's not in a clean part of the city. Walking around you will notice a lot of garbage and walking around the beach is impossible without being bothered by vendors. Stay in the walled city if you want a cleaner environment (but expect to pay a lot for that). Next time we will save our pennies and stay in the walled city. There's much more to do and see there. The only comment I have is that the hotel is under renovation but the room they assign to me was already finish. When I open the room door I found a very nice bedroom but the bathroom was not in good condition, there were many parts with an advance oxidize process.

We booked a Suite with sea view. great location, great food, very friendly staff. we had three bedrooms, two bathrooms with shower, hot water and a huge living room. All in all there were 4 TV's. It's really worth to spend a couple of USD more for that hotel

Small problem with renovations going on, but clean and very helpful staff. I use the internet a lot when travelling and the Wifi was broken. The reception however provided me with a 3G mobile data connection until the following day so I could carry on work. Nice pool and good facilities in general.

During the whole stay the air conditionning did not work (Cartagena!!!!!). The shower only produced drops (and I mean drops!!) of water. Breakfast was ideal for someone on a severe diet!!

I thought for what I paid was a bit overpriced considering the fixtures in the bathrooms needed some updating but the view from our suite made up for it! We're right on the beach and were pretty close to the old city...service was excellent and ppl were helpful. The rooms just need to be upgraded.

I went on a combined family/friends trip during low-season (early May), so it was pretty quiet and we got upgraded to a bigger room (we had booked a junior suite thinking that ocean views were an option, and when we arrived and inquired they told us that there were no junior suites with ocean views, but that they […] would gladly upgrade us to a king suite with an ocean view). The staff was so accommodating and friendly and really made us feel welcome and at ease. the pool was HEAVEN. the other benefit of this hotel is that it has direct beach access/a little area with day beds on the beach right outside the pool, but truthfully you won't be spending too much time on the beach--the water isn't that nice and the vendors are very aggressive. Breakfast was great! Lots of options and truly delicious. Didn't eat at the restaurant other than that but got some poolside drinks which were very good. Rooms are very LARGE and the views on the beach side are breath taking... The staff are all very friendly and the food is DELICIOUS.(I had the fish) The pool area is very nice and they have direct access to the beach thry a very nice bar and beach bed area...

This hotel has a great location on the beach. We have stayed here once before and like the hotel and its friendly and helpful staff. However, a couple of things could be improved. Our room #1305 oceanfront didn't have a desk which makes it difficult to use a laptop, etc. The breakfast buffet is very limited and gets boring after a couple of days. One […] last thing...upon check-in, the front desk person said we're obligated to pay for a daily "insurance policy"...20,000 pesos, about $10.50 per day. If you stay here be prepared to pay for internet usage and don't use the hotel phone under any circumstances--the "security" fee should be disclosed up front or included in the price of the room as in every other hotel I've ever stayed in.
