Excellent all over hotel. The room is huge and beautiful, very private. We were upgraded to patio suite as Expedia Elite. We also checked Laguna and Cenotes rooms, also beautiful and even larger than patio suite. The service is impeccable, everybody was calling us by our first names, this feels very special. The staff is amazing. All of them! The property […] is big, but don't worry. We never waited more than 2 minutes for the golf cart when were lazy to walk along very nice grounds. The food is very good, they accommodate your any wish if you want to combine some ingridients from different dishes, especially at breakfast. Service a little bit slow, but it's a vacation and you really feel soooooo relaxed that you don't even care about it. And it comes from a New Yorker, who is always in a rush. This hotel is THE PLACE to relax and forget about everything. I locked my office blackberry in the room's safe and forgot about it! Never happen to me before. International calls are FREE! Excellent internet reception everywhere. Snorkel trip is free. The spa is amazing. If you looking for fun and party scene, it is not for you. But if you want to relax, forget about everything, get away from stress, and feel luxury and true care, go! I will come back at a heartbeat. It's an elegant resort with every amenity you could want. The rooms are beautifully appointed and well maintained. The staff is extremely responsive and accommodating. The food is very good. There is just enough activity if you want to participate -- like three-times a week yoga-- and it is quiet.

We just returned from a 10-day stay at the Blue Diamond and it is a wonderful all-inclusive hotel. We stayed in the palafito rooftop suite, which I highly recommend as you have your own private sundeck and its located not far from the beach (with a view of the ocean from the rooftop, though not the room itself). The staff are very attentive and will […] meet your every need --- very concierge-oriented. The rooms are well-appointed and clean. Lovely turn-down service at night (usually while you are at dinner) that is essentially a second cleaning of the day. Two small points on the rooms: (1) they should invest in a full size ironing board and better irons; and (2) while the mini-bar is well stocked (especially with free alcohol), I would have appreciated more snacks rather than the one bag of M&Ms and two bags of nuts. Very small points. The spa and work-out room are nice and the property itself is lovely. It is a large property, so prepare to walk (or to order the golf cart service). We had bikes provided by the hotel since we were in the palafito suites. I loved the daily ride (about a mile) to the gym and lobby area. We thought the food was good -- though be prepared for few vegetarian options and lots of meat/fish choices. There are no buffets here (expect for the cafe option for breakfast), so be prepared for sit down service for your meals. Overall, great property --- may be not the best in the Riveria Maya, but near the top. Read more

The design of the resort is really pleasing in a very elegant but unobtrusive way. Not a resort that is over-the-top with ostentatious decor and grounds (which is why we picked it). Even at capacity it never felt crowded, anywhere. Our room was perhaps the best and most luxurious room we have ever stayed in. Beware that if you want any sort of visual/aural […] connection with the ocean from your room you need to stay at Palafitos or the even more expensive rooms on the beach. All other rooms are a long walk or golf cart or bike ride away from the beach. You can hear the ocean from Palafitos, but only see it from the roof deck of the upper rooms (view is of a beautiful lagoon). BUT, at Palafitos you must like listening to live music at night from the pool bar (probably the reason we wouldn't go back). The staff across the board is exceptionally friendly and helpful, but leave you alone if that's what you want. Beach is superb. Spa is lovely. Food felt like it was produced by formula; usually very good, sometimes exceptional, occasionally poor. Welcome champagne a nice touch, but it was wretched. Other minor issues with hot-water and electrical/lighting maintenance things did not seriously affect our experience. For a low-key elegant tropical, no-kids, all-inclusive vacation Blue Diamond is a great choice. It's painfully close to perfect, but many small things need to be improved. If they work on food and facilites improvement, future reviewers may call them the perfect resort. Read more

The staff is the best!!!! I would give this resort 4 stars! The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because of the food!! I stayed at the resort for a week, and the menu was the same every day. This is an absolutely beautiful resort. This is perfect for the low key couples. From the front desk to your room you are transported by golf cart through what feels like the jungle. I had a massage that was the best I ever had it took the therapist a couple of times to get me off the table I was so perfectly relaxed. The place where the resort needs improvement is with preventative maintenance. When we got to our room the air conditioner did not work so after 30 minutes or so they took us to a different room. This room was just as beautiful but the refrigerator did not work so they fixed it in about 30 minutes. On our last day the volume went out on the television in the room but they changed it out and fixed the problem pretty fast. If the resort checked everything in the room before we checked in than everything would have worked and I would not have anything negative to say. Read more

The Blue DIamond is a superb resort. It has very intimate rooms with great views. You are surrounded by exotic plants and canals and ponds everywhere and you won't feel like you drew the short straw even if you don't get a beach view. Because it's intimate I would highly recommend it for a romantic getaway. It's not oriented towards a lot of activities […] but more on comfort and style. Service on the beach could be a little better compared to other resorts but still good. Room service fee of $20 is also high compared to other resorts. As a plus you get free unlimited wi-fi all over the resort as opposed to other resorts that charge for wi-fi. Read more

Previously owned and managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group (MOHG). The other guests we spoke to agreed that the hotel was fabulous but the service was hit and miss. It's obviously going throught the early stages of new management and it shows but it is so beautiful here you don't really care. Needs minor improvements to grounds, bars, pool area to […] freshen it up as some areas look tired with broken lights, broken toilet locks etc. 128 rooms but was only half full when we stayed but the staff struggled especially in the dining areas. Room service was painfully slow and food was tepid. Breakfast was the best and quickest but dinner, boy oh boy!!!!! Dinners alternated between the restaurant at the pool and Ambar set halfway through the hotel. Despite what they say I would strongly recommend a reservation as otherwise you can wait up to an hour for a table. The food was overall nice to good with a Mexican influence on the breakfast and lunch menus but dinner tended to have a slight international theme. Aiming to be something that they did not achieve despite the use of foams & banana sand!!!! Just trying too hard. AI wine was awful! No poolside service as such, glasses not cleared during the day, have to get your own drinks and we waited an hour and a half for an umbrella. Concierge was very nice but not efficient, repeated requests for information and bookings. Spa lovely but busy. Book early. Improve service and this will be 10/10 review. Read more
