"La jolla getaway"
This place was simple and cozy. a walk to the restrauants, shopping, parks, beaches, coves, and sea lions viewing. After reading other people feedback on La Jolla Inn, I choose this particular hotel based on location and price. (a bit concern of the negative feedback). The ocean view room we got was a little outdated but that didn't bothered us. Our […] room were clean and receptionist was far more than helpful. We had access to coffee and tea anytime on the main floor. Don't forget the bed and breakfast as you awake. They offered a roof top sun deck w/ BBQ grill, heat lamps, and lounger chair for the R&R folks. tips: Park along the street in permitted area. save $$ and it's free. "Close to sights in La Jolla"
The La Jolla Inn is a good location for shops, restaurants, and viewing the seals at La Jolla Cove. Be sure to see the rooftop patio view. There was a $6 charge for parking the car in a lot a block away that I wasn't expecting. Breakfast can be served on the rooftop or in your room. "Good location, but bad execution"
So, the most financially trying part of our stay is that the hotel CLOSES THE OFFICE AT MIDNIGHT. If you arrive after that time, you are out of luck. Is this even legal in the US? Have you heard of a hotel this side of Ho Chi Minh City that closes at midnight? The location of the hotel is great -- right in the center of La Jolla with plenty of shopping, […] dining, bars and beaches within five minutes walk. But this hotel is resting on its laurels. It needs an upgrade and it needs management worthy of the 21st century. We could hear each word that the guy in the next room sang to his toddlers. The clerk at the front desk was well used to this kind of complaint because she immediately asked which side it was on. When we indicated which side, she pointed out that they were checking out that same day, and a single guy was taking the room. That information proved to be correct, but I won't be taking my chances again. To paraphrase Reagan, "Mr. La Jolla, tear down this inn!" Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"small but great"
The hotel is well located, clean and staff is very friendly. My room was small, but had everything you might need, granted that snacks, bottle water and some toiletries were charged separately, but easy to identified in order to avoid unnecessary expenses. "Bad parking, very loud!"
Wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. Parking was two blocks away! The are was so loud we were woken up at five am, very disappointing when all you want from a vacation is to sleep in! I most likely will never go back! Room phone didn't work and one our lights was burnt out.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice location"
The location was very beautiful. It's right by the ocean, and there are plenty of places to walk to around the hotel. Parking is pretty difficult, but that's not the hotel's fault. It is a tourist location, after all. The people at the front desk are very nice, and one of the girls even waited 20 minutes for us to get there because we were late. However, […] we were put in room 4 and our toilet wasn't working. The pipes were corroded so we couldn't fix it and there wasn't anyone we could contact to resolve this issue. The next day we told them and they were very understanding and just gave us a different room. The second room was in much better condition Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older hotel, well taken care of."
This is an older hotel that is well taken care of. Very small, only 23? rooms, it had room "keys" not a key card...thought that was cool. Very nice neighborhood, in my opinion upscale. Parking was free along the street, but hard to get at times. They have a somewhat inconveniently located parking garage, but we never even attempted to find it. Walking […] distance to the beach, shopping, food, rentals (bikes, kayaks, etc.). We will stay here again, enjoyed the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"La Jolla Inn Jan 2013"
Nice quaint hotel. If you are looking for a place with spacious rooms and lots of glitz, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a comfortable, extra clean, well-maintained, older hotel, located in central La Jolla, then this is the place for you. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Sub-standard size, noisy rooms, problem breakfast"
Great location, tiny rooms, extremely noisy (inter-room noise), offer a very breakfast menu but always out of items. Only 19 rooms. Maintenance poor in some respects. Overcharge for drinks, snacks and toiletries in rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was extremely noisey in the early morning - could not sleep past 6:00 am because of all the traffic and delivery noise, as well as leaf blowers, etc. Thermastat in room did not work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"PLEASANTLY SURPRISED after reading other reviews !"
Awesome !~ Ok, I have to say that I booked it before reading any reviews... THEN got super scared after reading everyone's reviews. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a really cute room. Had a little kitchen and a nice balcony. Not sure about the other rooms, but ours was perfect ! YES, it's noisy as the walls are super thin. Actually […] can hear other's TV's next door and all the street noise... but that was really the only complaint we had. The front desk was super nice and glad to help with anything you like. The bed was perfect. The AC was awesome. What else... OH, yeah, definitely make sure you're there in time to check in because they do close down the front desk at I think 9 pm ? It's a b&b.. so, you can expect that I guess. GREAT sushi places 1/2 a block away. GREAT beaches just 1/2 a block away as well. AWESOME stay ! Erik Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Was a cute hotel but small room with very thin walls. Neighboring people were smoking marijuana in their room that could be smelled coming down the hallway. Then up all night making noise along with upstairs room banging all night. Nice place but would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint for couples"
They asked if we wanted to upgrade for an ocean view and a king bed. When we arrived in our upgraded $20 a night extra fee room, we found that we had stepped back in time for a Lucy and Ricky Ricardo set of twin beds. They promised to put them together the next day which they never complied.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I paid double this price for 1 very, very bad stay"
Do not believe their pix or their marketing about being a B&B! A quilt on the bed does NOT qualify them as Bed & Breakfast. Neither does Rice Krispies delivered to your door (no hot food or protein), just muffins and cold cereal. H.Johnson's does THAT. The closet could not even accoommodate enough room to hang my full length dress. The halls and stairs […] to rooms are NOT A/C. This is an old decaying apt house with a college kid at the desk who is want to look up from her book that is being marketed as an upscale B&B in La Jolla! When I tried to move to another hotel on Day 2 and cancel this one BEFORE CHECK OUT TIME, she cheerfully said, "Sure. But you will be charged for tonight. Our policy." Smile. Smile. Oh, and every available surface in the room is covered with baskets of things to buy like a $4 bottle of water or playing cards or QTips. Not to mention the large snack shop through a door in their lobby! I came to sleep, not buy all their overpriced incidentals. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I will never go back"
Our stay was horrible! When we checked into our room the front desk gave us our key and we walked to our room. My husband tried opening the door but there was a table blockin the door. We opened it up and there was a ladies bag and some drinks on the table. We went back and told the lady so she went to check it out. About 20 min later she comes back […] as says " Our room is ready". She explained to us that the room next door had a conjoining door and was using the room for the day. However the hotel was sold out because of an event in town we had no choice but to stay. Not to mention it was 11pm and we had out 5 year old with us. We get to the room and the bed was a mess. We had to ask for clean sheets and when we did the front desk said "looks lik no one slept in the bed" . 4 am rolls around and we "neighbors" start knocking at the conjoining door and party all night. The bath room floor was full of sand and the next morning when I went to take a shower all the the others peoples stuff was in the shower, along with a bunch more sand. We of course let the desk know what happened and they said they would make a note to have a manager call us. Four hours later we called and left a message. Day later, another message. By day 3 got to talk to a manager and was told we need to talk to the owner. Left a message 2 times and still not call. This hotel has HORRIBLE customer service and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone. Poor customer service and an embarrassment to the online service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good place to stay... not great"
The hotel is cozy and quaint for couples looking to get away to the beaches of La Jolla. The room resembles a small beach-cottage feel, kind of thrown together. Although it's pleasant, don't expect an overly-romantic experience due to the ambiance. The place is great for a place to stay but not quite bed and breakfast appeal as they like to make it […] seem. "poverty with a view?"
I stayed in a smaller room since I was travelling alone. The room was just large enough for a bed and tv. I had to side step to get past the tv to the restroom. The threshold hardware going into the bathroom had an exposed nail that I nearly cut my foot on when I stepped down. The coffee maker disn't work and neither did the air conditioning unit. The […] window wouldn't stay open on it's own so I propped it up with the amenities binder. Lastly, the door had to be slammed in order to latch completely. I'm sure the neighboring guests were not happy about that. Oh...and there is no onsite parking. There is a parking garage 2 blocks away that they will charge you daily to use. Located a block away from beach, perfect! As for the hotel.. It sucks the beds are hard, paper thin walls. Woke up by a women crying on the roof and a couple in the room next to us fighting.. La Lolla Inn is within walking distance of all the great restaurants and shops and also the beach. The sun deck has an awesome view. The location of the hotel is nice, you're by the beach, close to food, and you're right on the strip. "STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHABBY NOISY PLACE"
AVOID THIS PLACE. Spend a few dollars more and book someplace where you can sleep! The bar next door plays boom box music till wee hours at night. The "ocean views" are pathetic window-doors with tiny balconets that give you at best what an ambitious realtor would call a peekaboo view. For my money, this is the worst booking I have ever done on Expedia […] in seven years online and 80 or more properties.! Never again will I return, and I suggest you try any other place within ten miles -- even the humble Best Western 4 blocks away, which is near where you have to park for this join, btw because they do not have any adjacent parking which forces you to walk several blocks to their underground community parking lot, to add insult to injury. The desk person is nice enough, but it's really shabby at the counter and in the halls. Continental breakfast was a C minus packaged stuff you could have bought at the run-down convenience store in the same building. Read the other reviews at Trip Advisor if you are still not convinced. the location is near the Valencia which of course is pricier, and frankly I don't think any of them on Prospect Street is worth it anymore because of the noise factor. La Jolla is no longer a charming little place to sleep unless you're in one of the more modern properties. And this place is the worst. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We Love LaJolla, spent many weekends there with family or just the 2 of us. The hotel was small and pricey. Yet there was no true accomidations to brag of. The hotel was located in a perfect area and the staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay there and we plan to go back and stay at same location. "La Jolla Inn so conveniently located"
This lovely European style hotel is located in the heart of the seaside village of La Jolla. "almost but not quite"
Over all the hotel is quite nice. The room was small but well appointed and comfortable, the deck is small and not very private from your neighbor but it has a lovely view of the water. The morning meal was not quite what I expected from the promotion the hotel gave, bagels and such bought from Costo and rewarped in plastic wrap. "Pity- needs upgrade!"
This hotel has an amazing location. It's European style- meaning the room is small, it's not well kept and the staff is minimally attentive. Our room had a bad odor and the drape was too small to block the light so we were awoken with the light of morning. The mattress is past due to be replaced. No in-room safe for valuables. We happily paid extra […] at check-in to upgrade our room to "ocean view" (really partial only)- not for the view but because the standard room we booked had entry on the street- not very private or intimate. Bathroom was very clean. Breakfast on the roof patio is very pleasant. They also have a nice library for borrowing books and a tea and coffee station with cookies. Free internet. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the area and they offer some nice services but the room is pretty dumpy. Not very romantic. We got a thank you email from the hotel with request for feedback. When I wrote back, with my feedback, (since they asked), I never heard back from them. Next time, we'll stay more inland at a nicer hotel especially if we plan to sleep late. "No hot water..."
My mother and I stayed at the La Jolla Inn for a night. The location was wonderful...but the Inn was not. We had no hot water... in fact, it was barely warm, even thought we let it run for several minutes. This was the situation both at night and the next morning. We spoke with Michelle, the manager.
