The hotel appears as if it was recently renovated. Modern, clean rooms and facilities. Nice extras like free coffee, cappucino, espresso 24 hrs/day, adequate free breakfast, small pleasant lounge, free computer, pleasant staff. Near everything. Parking limited - request when you book. .

Very well appointed with many amenities. I felt a bit being "cheap" to charge an extra $5.00 for a code for internet connection. Their offer for free internet service, means a single terminal in the main lobby with internet connection. Long line up, and inconvenience. For a daily $5.00 guest can obtain their personal code to use their own equipment in privacy.Other than that, it was a pleasant stay

Our double room was small but we live in NYC so we didn’t feel cramped. The furnishings were clean and comfortable. The roof of the Chateau Frontenac was visible from our window. The location in the heart of the historic district and within walking distance of the newer sections is perfect for tourists. We were very happy here, and I doubt you could do much better for the price. Two cautions: (1) you need to check-in at another hotel across the street and a few doors down, as they will tell you when you ring the bell; and (2) avoid the hotel’s breakfast at a neighboring restaurant--it costs $10 Canadian and consists of powdered eggs and such. There is an excellent brunch spot just down the street from the hotel where you can eat well for not much more--it's on the left side as you walk down Rue St Ursule.

Amazing location, almost every other building on the street was restaurant with any type of ambiance from Italian to Indian and beyond!

"in a nut shell"
Summary; this is a fine hotel if you don't mind staying in an area that is commuter/industrial based. pros; the staff were fantastic, the hotel is nice, very clean (they allow dogs and there was no evidence of this.......odor/hair/etc) , affordable if you're on a budget, easy to find, easy /free parking cons; it's out of the way with no walkable surrounding […] area, noise levels were annoying (bus load of school kids running in the corridors and construction vehicles working nearby through the night.........both may just have been bad timing on our behalf) Read more

Welcoming, hospitable hotel that is accommodating to the needs of guests. I am a frequent traveler and have high expectations for comfort and cleanliness. Bamboo floors gave my guest room a very clean feeling, as did the pristine bedding. Mattress was firm and comfortable. "Good for dogs, nice rooms and services"
While this hotel is not as cute or convenient to the walled city as some other hotels in Quebec City, the staff are very nice, and the rooms are great. They have free coffee and hot cocoa whenever, a pretty good breakfast, and they brought our dog treats and a water and food dish set on a mat. The room had a fridge, a nice shower (with a detachable […] shower head) and a microwave, as well as a nice sitting area, and with our dog we got a room next to the door to the lawn and un-carpeted floors (so no funky odor like other even supposedly nice places we have stayed with the dog). Over all it was worth the extra of driving into town, though if you were really committed you might be able to catch a bus or walk. There is a pretty good garage near the walled old town so parking was not an issue other than having to pay a little extra. Read more

"Great Hotel"
I stayed two nights at Dauphin Hotel the last time I visited Quebec. The free breakfast is really good; all people at the hotel are courteous and speak english. My next visit to Quebec I will stay at Dauphin Hotel.

"Good price. Many extras. Very comfortable"
I expect comfort, courtesy, and ease of use for any hotel I reserve. I got this and more. The extras include free use of the in room computer, free use laundry facility, a wonderful lobby sitting area with a gas fire place and free use of the coffee machine (includes hot chocolate, tea and specialty coffee), The guest room we had was a standard 2 bed […] room but it was very large, had a desk, refrigerator, and a lot of room to store our luggage and to move around freely. The staff is professional, courteous and friendly. They all speak French but also speak English. Many of them were fluent in English. Those who were not fluent either got someone else to help or worked it out with me. They gave me driving directions and even some ideas of what to see in Quebec. The continental breakfast is included in the price and it is more than ample. Toast, bagels, croissants, etc with juices, coffees, yogurts. They even have small containers of spiced ground pork (I am told it is a specialty of the area) that you spread on bagel or toast. Michelle was in charge of the Breakfast and she did a wonderful job of keeping the food replenished and the area spotlessly clean. Also she was very friendly. We were only a short drive from the port and old city or if we did not want to take our car the taxi's were affordable. Dunkin Donuts is next door for a more American coffee. Read more

"Great Stay"
Hotel was clean, in a good location, and had a nice continental breakfast in the morning. The only downside is that there are no nonsmoking rooms and our room had a strong smell of smoke.
We had a very pleasant experience. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfasts were wonderful, and even though the hotel is very close to a major highway, we could not hear the traffic at all. The staff members were all very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located very convienently to two highways. It is ten minutes from the city center and they offer a complimentary shuttle to and from the hotel to the city center every day. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. There are two great resturants in the neighborhood that are not filled with tourists. Would stay there again.

I was pleasantly suprised by the hotel as I was expecting a lot less for the price I paid. Rooms were clean & modern. Breakfast was included. The location was fine for me as it was only a very short drive into the city & the staff were friendly.

"Small Hotel has much to offer."
This hotel surprised me in it's quality. The staff were absolutely superb. They wanted to go the extra yard to satify the guest. My room had some pleasurable items usually not found elsewhere. It had a compact PC in each room, refrigerator, 48" plasma TV, granite sink counter, self regulated thermostat on wall. Quiet hotel (I was on the opposite side of the freeway) with hardwood floors, computer with high speed internet, tv with VCR and DVD player,fridge. Free parking, easy access to freeways. Continental breakfast. I stayed at Hotel le Dauphin 14 days for business and I am very satisfied of the value, very comfortable hotel with nice large and well equiped […] rooms. Employees are really commited to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and one of them (Jennifer) went beyond my expectations to assist me. "well located for my purpose"
only complaint/suggestion would be to add black out drapes (thank god they gave eye mask as the light really shines through the windows in the morning) but also a lot of light through the bathroom. Had to sleep with the bathroom door closed. OTher than that very friendly service both at check in and at breakfast and clean room with lots of pillows.

"Hotel Dauphin Quebec - Worth the Price"
The hotel was clean and very well maintained. Unfortunately the hotel was under renovations which should have been brought to my attention at time of booking. Either the hotel or hotels.com should have informed me that there were no carpets in the hallways and that workers would begin work at 7am. When I checked in I had to sign a waiver that I knew […] about the work going on from 8am - 4 pm. I did not arrive in Quebec until after 7pm so my room was going to be billed to my CC either way so I signed the waiver. Then work began at 7am, not 8am. That was not particularly pleasant. The staff were intelligent enough to cancel work for the Friday after the Thursday 7am work issues and numerous complaints I suspect. During my entire stay, Thursday - Sunday, the hotel staff asked that all guests wear shoes wherever I went due to possible sharp debris in the halls. My daughter did not enjoy that requirement. On a positive note, the breakfast was very good and full of choices. the staff were very freindly and polite. If you subtract the carpet/reno issues the stay would have been great. Read more

When visited Quebec this summer, me and my family felt very comfortable and home like feeling when we stepped into our room. Spacious , very well thought and well maintainted room. But I must say the appoarch floor to our room was smelly, may be it was the fresh paint. That should have been avoided.

"Very smart choice for dog owners"
It was not in the beautiful old town (fast food commercial suburb area) but very convenient to highway, and very handy for us to use with our dog. Dog bowls, treats and provided pet blanket were a nice touch. Loved the complimentary hot beverages and juice available in the lobby and the breakfast was great! We'll be back whenever we're in the area!

The only problem with this hotel was that it is right on the highway and noisy because of it. Our room did not have a bathtub, just a shower, but it was nice enough for our purposes. It is outside of Quebec City.

"Pleasant stay"
Nice, clean, neat rooms with modernized bathroom and a PC for your convenience. The room floor is some weird laminate and the room color isn't that warmy, but overall the rooms are still very good.
