Hotel was lovely and clean and a great location. The shower did not work properly. The customer service was poor, and the quality of food and service in the restaurant was very poor. This let the hotel down!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Well situated for all but the station."
I would recommend a stay here, particularly to enjoy the breakfast which is as good as it gets for a buffet.Parking is easy, and all facilities are up to standard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Value for money is key"
Very good value for money. We have stayed at the Imperial on several occasions and would have to say that the food appears to have taken a turn for the better. Rooms are always spacious and clean and this time was no exeption. Thank you ImperialGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were lucky enough to be offered an upgrade when we got to the hotel. For this we got one of their suites, with a huge balcony overlooking the sea. Absolutely amazing roomS !!! We were very close to the two places we had come to Torquay for, The opening of the Bed Bar, and the restaurant mad Fridays, both were excellent, and both were near to the […] hotel !!!! "Can't believe it's not a 5*"
Hotel absolutely superb. Only slight negative is evening entertainment, lack of. However, Hotel is situated very near to town centre and easy walking distance to restaurants and clubs. Cant beat waking up in the morning to a beautiful sea view. Breakfast was totally awesome. Free WiFi tricky to use at times, but at least it was usable. Would not hesitate […] to return or recommend to friends and family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great hotel. Great location. Great breakfast. Hotel was too warm; room was rediculouly hot. Couldn't sleep because of it. Was the same when I stayed last time - bring a radiator spanner!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relaxing Break at The Imperial"
From our arrival until departure we found the staff pleasant and helpful. The location of the hotel in relation to both views and local facilities was most pleasing. We found the dining facilities extremely good with a very good choice of food, particularly at breakfast. All of this contributed to a most pleasant and relaxing experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel stay was really enjoyable, the only down side was the £7 per night car parkingGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A perfect spot to stay"
The weather was foul - so what a joy to come back to a very warm palatial room. Sadly only there for one night on a theatre break but made a fantastic get away, and made use of the pool and jacuzzi - bliss - felt like a real break away.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant hotel, with good food and lovely viewsF"
Breakfast is very good, served in a dining room overlooking the bay. selection of food very good and staff pleasant. Two hours free Internet daily, very useful. Steep walk up to hotel from the harbour, but if you don't find this a problem, then the hotel is in a good position.Genuine Expedia guest review

Lovely hotel ruined by poor customer service and lack of modernisation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to sights"
Our stay was marred by finding an empty condom wrapper on the floor in our room. The staff were very apologetic and offered us a room upgrade but we had a complimentary breakfast instead. The facilities and sea front location were fantastic.Very friendly staff .The prices at the bar were slightly steep and we would of had a few more drinks there if […] cheaper. "Imperial still ticks all the boxes!"
I love this hotel. Previous visits were when it was a Barcelo and it was top notch. Lost a bit of its plushness now and could do with a refurb - especially the room allocated. Cannot fault the breakfast but the sit down dinner the previous evening was only lukewarm - very disappointing for a Christmas function, since it was only a small group. Will […] definitely return making sure of the room allocation! A jewel in Pumas crown - well worth them investing the money in a quality make-over - the hotel is too imperial to house the current DIY styled pictures now hanging around! Cleanliness location and staff are five star! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

very pleasant stay, nice pool, nice decor, nice room. The only thing we did,nt like was having to pay £6 to park the car.The hotel is very close to the harbour, easy walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel with great views. However the shower in my room was appauling, no pressure, just a little dribble!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
No investment in a once gorgeous building. Not enough staff and those that are there try hard but are under-trained. Only survives because this describes far too many hotels in Torbay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very good but would have preferred a sea view, when requested was informed not possible due to being full. A good excuse to come back again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"R & R"
Pleasant time spent at this hotel recuperating from minor surgery. The hotel catered for my needs spendidly and we had a great room with a view of the bay Shame parking is charged buit guess you can't have everything.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very helpful and friendly staff, hotel overall was very clean, room was excellent with wonderful view of sea . breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Would stay again and would recommend to friends and family.Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to atractions"
Our room was very dark and dismal, needs a good decoratate, was not like any of the example rooms shown on line, we thought the curtains were closed when first going in the room, they weren't, that shows how dark it was.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There were lots of noisy children at the hotel, but it was half-term so it was only to be expected, I suppose.Genuine Expedia guest review
"perfect for a winter break"

"great hotel for a short break"
We enjoyed our short stay at the imperial. breakfast really good, our only complaint is that we do not expect to pay extra for car park at a hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
The view across the bay was wonderful to wake up to. The room was very clean but required a bit of repair and TIC to complete a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast tended to be on the cold side. surprised had to pay for parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was are fifth stay at this hotel and its still as good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lots of things about this hotel were good, reception service was brilliant as were the bar staff. Dinner waiters were not so good. Good deals on room prices mean the room you get will be small and overlooking the car park, which didn't matter, the bed linen was lovely and fresh, as were the towels, but the bathroom was shabby the shower was ok till […] someone else used theirs then all pressure went and the grouting on bathroom tiles was grubby. There was only one bedside table but there was room for two and the carpet had not been vacuumed properly as I found the last persons hair clips on it. Lastly residents have to pay between £7 and £15 per night car parking in the hotels own car park which I must say surprised me for a hotel if this stature, and I think it should be pointed out when you book if you are in a budget it really increases it. "Wonderful Views from room"
Wonderful view from our premium room with french doors to private terrace. Good breakfast from dining room again with breathtaking view, but the one dinner we had was a little disappointing with very undercooked vegetables. "Very nice hotel overlooking Torbay"
From the moment we entered our room and saw two armchairs in front of the french windows overlooking our balcony and the wonderful views we knew we had chosen the right hotel. This was confirmed by the variety of breakfast food on offer the following morning. The hotel is very convenient for the harbour and town. The outside grounds and the rest of the […] hotel facilities were vere good. One slight down side is that the hotel has a car parking charge of £7 a day which I feel is a bit excessive. "Relaxing - no need to use the car at all."
So close to the harbour and beach. Had read a few less than complimentary reviews so was worried but I have no idea what they were looking at. The hotel was impressive from entering the building and the staff all friendly. The rooms were clean with large bathrooms. Breakfast was included, varied and very good. Lovely grounds and the bottom floor snooker […] room/table tennis area a real bonus. We had a great stay. Thank you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice river views if you could get one."
The hotels interior was ok but overall the outside was very disappointing and needs an uplift. The inside was clean and tidy but was dated and needs modern furnishing. The inside of the pool was slippery and needs some cleaning because my husband slipped off but am glad he wasn't injured. "Great location, shame about the facilities."
Hotel is fabulously located but is in desperate need of some TLC. Room had very few facilities; no air con, no mini bar, no hairdryer, no ironing board - not what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Good as a base for the town centre, but wouldnt have wanted to stay in the room or the hotel for any length of time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable, friendly & great views, but expensive"
We had a sea-view room with a small balcony, from which the view was stunning. The room itself was very clean & well presented. TV had many channels to choose from & all the normal facilities you would expect were available (although you did have to put the kettle on the floor as the lead did not reach any sockets from the surface of the unit). The […] outside of the hotel is rather tired & weathered, especially the balcony/terrace areas facing the sea, they could do with a little TLC. The wife enjoyed the spa & came away feeling refreshed. Breakfast was superb, with the exception of the fried eggs which were like rubber - everything else tasted fine. The overall cost is much more than we'd usually pay & with the exception of the view, we didn't think we got much more for our money, but that said, in all honesty, we would be tempted to return for a special occasion. The service & hotel was very good & the breakfasts were fantastic. I did think that £7 a night car park charge was a bit steep , £5 would be about right. Also there was no night entertainment which was a bit of a let down for a 4 star hotel. I was in a standard room which was ok but very dull , with being on the wrong side of the hotel butit was ok […] , very clean. If you can afford a sea view its worth doing. Overall a very nice clean hotel with nice views of the sea in an ideal loacation nr the town but far enough away to have piece & quiet & privacy with some nice coastal walks. room itself was very good but let down by 2 large fans outside single glazed window . considering the price of drinks in hotel you would expect hotel to be able to afford double glazing . outside pool was very nice when allowed to use it , although changing rooms a bit ropey.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel has fantastic views of the water surrounding Torquay and the local coastline. Clean and classy however we did find the hotel very quiet and the bar closed at midnight regardless of the number of residents in the bar at the time. Dinner is pricey but the food is good, average £6 for starters and desserts with £17 for mains. Parking is extra […] though, not something I would expect to pay for in a quality hotel. "5 minutes walk to hustle and bustle but quiet road"
We were very pleased with the accomodation, expected a room and had a suit. Very comfortable with a lovely view of the bay and very peaceful. Sadly we couldn't use the balcony due to work being carried out. The breakfast was all you could want and more, huge selection of cold and cooked food. Very friendly and effecient staff. Bit disappointed in car […] park charge. Didn't get to use leisure facilities, small pool but looked clean and tidy. Excellent value for money. Would deffinately return or recommend. "Good hotel, just watch out for the hidden costs"
Excellent Wedding venue and good Hotel. It's disappointing that anything extra incurs a cost. What i wasn't too pleased about is the hidden car park cost that they didn't tell us about.. It was £21 for 3 nights which is ok but i just wanted to BE TOLD! Annoying but a good stay. Good breakfast!Genuine Expedia guest review
