Pedras de Rainha - Tavira

We stayed in Decemeber and it was predictably quiet - most of Cabanas was closed but still a beautiful place and worth a visit. The room was very well equipped and very well located - although we did have to shift a fair bit of furniture to get a double bed together.

Just returned from a wonderful week at Pedras de Rainha. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The whole complex is very clean and the pool is great. The rooms are a little basic and dark but the terrace/balcony is quite spacious. We were originally given a tiny room which had a kitchen but didn't really have a bed! However, for 10 euro a night they upgraded us to a much bigger room which had a separate bedroom, lounge, bathroom, kitchen and balcony overlooking the pool. I think I read that someone else had the same experience, so maybe this is their standard approach - allocate […] a tiny room then charge for an upgrade? Easy walk to Cabanas village. Bus stop right outside so you can go to Tavira. Train station only a 10 minute walk away so you could travel anywhere along the coast. The place is, if you are picky, a little tired, but the staff were very friendly and when we had a problem with the hot water cylinder at 5.30 pm they had a technician attending at 8.15 am the next day and he took 15 minutes to replace the thermostat. Going in late October meant that the resort was very quiet, but most bars restaurants were still open […] and the weather was still good. Cabanas is a nice resort and the ferry across to the beach ran, when you turned up; there is no cost if you are staying at PdR as you get a pass for the ferry. We arrived at the hotel after a long day of walking around in sunny Tavira. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff spoke English. They were wonderfully accomodating and made us feel very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the hotel has its own private boat to take you to Tavira Island, so as soon as we put our belongings […] in our room, we walked into town (Cabanas) and waited at the dock for the boat. The island was beautiful, and definitely a great perk of staying at the hotel! Our room was clean, and contained everything we needed for our stay (utensils, pillows, blankets, toiletries, etc). We purchased our own food from the market down the street and ate at La Brassarie restaurant in town for dinner. The food and service were phenomenal! After dinner, we went back to our apartment for bed. The beds were very sparce, but so comfortable after walking around all day. All in all, I'd say that if you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not the place for you... But if you are going to take advantage of the many amenities that the hotel has to offer and you are wanting to get out and enjoy yourself, I'd highly recommend Pedras da Rainha. We spent the majority of our time out of the apartment, but our vehicle was safe in the parking area and we really enjoyed exploring the town of Cabanas and the Island. Read more

Ons viel dit appartement erg tegen. De kastjes en deuren leken in geen jaar schoongemaakt. Op de handvatten en daaromheen zat een dikke laag vet waardoor je een plakkerig gevoel aan je hand had als je een deur of kastje opende. Ook de tafels kan je beter niet aanraken. Ik vroeg de schoonmaakster of ik misschien een spray kon lenen maar die had ze niet. […] Wel was ze zo creatief om een handdoek in een reep te scheuren en die om het handvat van het meest vieze kastje te winden. Ik dacht dat ze dat stuk stof ging gebruiken om het kastje schoon te maken omdat ze alleen maar een dweil en schonen handdoeken bij zich had. Ook kwam er meer water uit de doucheslang dan uit de douchekop. De appartementen zien er leuk uit maar de handgemaakte houten kastjes, lades en deuren vergen wel extra onderhoud. Read more

Mi estancia fue en uno de los T1, unos apartamentitos aislados muy coquetos, muy cuidados y muy completos en todo a lo que útiles de cocina se refiere. El cuarto de baño tiene una bañera, que para los q nos gusta pegarnos un bañito, es excelente!! Luego, estos apartamentitos tienen un pequeño patio trasero bien sombreado con su juego de mesas y sillas. […] La piscina es relativamente grande. El personal del hotel es muy atento y colaborador. De eerste week was erg rustig. We hadden geen auto gehuurd en daarom afhankelijk van de supermarkt in het dorp. Deze werd niet goed bevoorraad. de ene keer was er geen vlees of vis en de andere keer geen groenten Verder waren de bedden van beton, niet verplaatsbaar dus wat een teleurstelling was voor mijn dochter die met haar vriendje mee was op vakantie. […] Ook de matrassen waren erg hard. Vi hadde det helt topp, familie på 5, besteforeldrer som også var med i eget hus. Stort koseligt hus med egen liten hage og uteplass. Alt du trengte tom oppvaskmaskin. Masse aktiviteter ved bassengområdet, fotball, vollyboll mm. Litet tog som tok oss til byen og stranden. Toppen! Trenger ikke bil her men det gjorde vistelsen enda bedre.

Het is een smaakvol aangelegd park met micro-villaatjes en appartementen en diverse formaten, soms twee boven elkaar, soms ook rug aan rug.Onze driepersooons studio had aan inventaris van alles drie (stoelen, borden, glazen, enz),een stel pannen, drie bedden (van redelijke kwaliteit) maar alles ziet er een beetje 'scharrig' uit. De verlichting is zeer […] matig, de badkamer is schoon maar heeft gebarsten tegels, Alles is wat somber en eigenlijk aan renovatie toe. Er is een aardig restaurant, een mooi zwembad en in de receptie is men attent. Nos ha encantado este complejpo de casitas blancas. Tiene su propio servicio gratuito de taxi-lancha que te lleva a la playa de Cabanas. Es maravillosa: arena fina, virgen, poca gente, muy limpia y cuidada, de hecho tiene bandera azul. Si vais a Tavira no dejéis de comer en el restaurante o CICLISTA. Una carta extensima y cada plato que probamos mejor […] y super económico, qué más se puede pedir? Respecto al alojamiento el único pero las señoras de la limpieza, qué parecían un poco cochinas...barrían y dejaban el montoncito como escondido al lado de la chimenea. Al conjunto le faltaria una pequeña mejora en las instalaciones y en el mantenimiento, ya tiene su añitos y se nota. Sin embargo la impresion en general es buena. Los jardines y los alrededores son fantasticos. Los bungalovs tienen un buen tamaño y estan bien equipados aunque un poco "gastado" el inmobiliario. En terminos generales bien.

Bonitos jardines, un mantenimiento aceptable del mobiliario anticuado y una playa bonita y tranquila. Sólo echaría en falta para un alojamiento de 3 estrellas unos colchones más ergonómicos o un vale para un par de sesiones de osteópata tras una semana de estancia en el hotel.

Et større bebyggelse i 1-2 plan med god beplantning (palmer,græs blomster) der giver en landsbyagtig stemning. Lejlighederne er rustikt indrettet, nogle med pejs, og med gode køkken og badefaciliteter. Udvendigt kunne husene godt trænge til lidt maling, men inde var der pænt og vi fik gjort rent og redt senge dagligt.
