Hotel de la Paix, just OK. Clean room, very small. Only stayed 2 nights and had to move to the Citadel Hotel around the corner. Now that was great. Huge room, Cable TV with tons of channels, great breakfast. If I ever went back to Lyon, I would stay at the Citadel.

This hotel is 3 star, and so one should not expect more than that. The location is truly excellent - much good shopping, close to both riverfronts, night-life and restaurants of good quality abound. Plus, very close to public transportation. it is not air-conditioned which, most of year, is probably of no issue. There are two Grand Hotels in Lyon. I think I mixed them up when booking. This hotel was not up to standards. Room was small. The foot of the bed was about 6 in. from the wall, making it difficult to walk around. Plastic chair had wholes in it. Bathroom sink didn't drain. We told desk about that, and were told to reach under the sink to pull the stopper […] to get it to drain! That is not acceptable with me. We were on the 5th floor and 3 times in the 3 nights we were there, the elevator was not working. All the people at the desk spoke English, and were friendly. Read more

overall we were pleased with this hotel. The location is perfect-close to the metro,shopping and sightseeing options. The staff was very friendly if a bit inexperienced and great food is nearby. The rooms are small and they could use a bit more ventilation but they are acceptable.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Paris and Lyon and found this the best of all the hotels we stayed at. There are 2 very nice restaurants in the same building on the ground floor. The staff was extremely helpful. One significant negative was that there is no laundry service at this hotel though there is a laundromat nearby.

The location is superb. In the morning breakfast is served and even a welcome drink and sandwitch is offered upon your arrival. At the reception desk, people are very helpful especially Guillaume, who has excellent communication skills and is very professional. I surely will recommend this hotel to friends.

I enjoyed my stay in the Grand Hotel de la Paix. The room and bathroom had to be the biggest ones I've ever stayed while in France. The hotel is a traditional French hotel (older building) but some of the ammenities were better then what I've had before. The bathroom as I said was huge. Could have put a couch in there. The shower was great with a partal […] glass wall to keep the floor from getting soaked. The water pressure was great. The bed was firm (foam bed I think) but comfortable. WiFi was excellent. I turned on the TV only once but it was a flat screen mounted on the wall. The window looked out onto the busy street but when closed you couldn't hear a thing. Only draw back, there is no air conditioning and no fan was available for use. It was a hot night and because my room was on the street side it was too noisy to leave the window open. A fan would have been perfect. Breakfast was traditional continental for France. Pastries, jams, yogurts, some meat/cheese, and coffee. Nothing special but perfect to get the day going. Nutella would have made it perfect for me. They offer a box lunch which I only took my last day on the way to the airport. Perfect for this, pre-made sadwich, chips, apple sauce and a bottle of water. Thank you for offering this. The staff was very helpful. Relatively spacious and clean room. Free wi-fi. Nice location, but the street was a bit noisy. Tea facilty. No air conditioner and no safe box (values can be stored at the reception). One door of the shower cubicle was broken. Breakfast was standard, not worth to eat if you could spend some money elsewhere.

Small room with no closet space for two people. Sabastian was wonderful. Ceiling had holes with peeling paint over bed. Updated shower was wonderful except it was difficult to regulate the temperature and it would turn from hot to scalding without warning.

Grand Hotel de la Paix may not be everybodies cup of tea, especially if you need american standard ammenities, but it sure was mine. I loved the feel of the place, the incredibly nice & informative staff, the breakfast room & the breakfast, the floor to ceiling window opening out to a tiny balcony overlooking one of Lyon's most posh streets. They even […] pack you a bagged lunch which we ate in the museum garden before entering. The location made walking a breeze. Instead of using the lift, use the stairs which are very pretty & make you feel like you live there. Just be forewarned that if you are driving in, finding a parking place on the street to register & then driving to a car park is a bit difficult. I feel it's well worth that hassle. Read more

American hotels are into multiple pillows, tall mattresses with pillowtops and other cultural differences in creature comforts. The French have a different cultural standard. Their beds are lower to the floor. Their pillows are different than ours. Their bath tubs have much higher sides and narrower overall. This small hotel's greatest asset is the central location, you can walk to almost all sites of interest in ten to fifteen minutes. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. This is in the perfect location for exploring Lyon. You can get anywhere in the city very easily on foot. The rooms are small and cramped for 2 people, but well maintained. The guys at the Front Desk were very helpful.

Very friendly and helpful service. Very central location - walk to everywhere in the city plus a metro station just around the corner. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants. Only problem is lack of air conditioning - therefore need windows open when warm at night, making it very noisy and sometimes difficult to sleep. Good value apart from this.

This was an extremely comfortable and well appointed hotel for its rating and price-point. Room was spacious and generally clean, although floor vacuuming could have been more thorough. A slight mix up on arrival as I was given the key to the wrong room but the friendly reception soon sorted this out. The hallways are a little tired but the rooms are quiet and well decorated, though the beds are hard. The breakfast room is located on the mezzanine with a very low ceiling and as I am 6' 4" I had to stoop to enter. The hotel is in the heart of Lyon close to the metro and buses. It can easily be reached from Part Dieu station on the C3 or metro.. The location is excellent. The main tourist sites cafes restaurants shops and museums of Presque Isle are very close and Vieux Lyon only a 10 minute walk. This hotel was by far the best during our recent stay in France. While only 3 star, the service eclipsed the 4 star we later stayed in by far. Everyone was helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The position was unbelievable, right in the centre of Lyon within minutes walk of everyone. Definitely going back.
