Hot water didn't work in the AM and because there is only one person checking in its a little timely. But the people are wonderful and the breakfast was great. Definitely go back.

The hotel is a couple of blocks off the strip. Virginia City is a desert town with a cowboy attitude. The main strip has three or four saloons with live music and.... well, they're saloons, with loud, mostly country/western music, and people with a bit too much to drink. If you're looking to go have fun in a Western town and still have a quiet place to stay within walking distance of the small downtown, this hotel is it. I was very happy staying at this hotel. It has its own history. Marilyn Monroe stayed here when she was filming the misfits, and the cast from Bonanza used to visit when they were filming locally. I did have a little bit of a hard time finding this well-preserved, beautiful, old historical building, but then I arrived after a long trip, tired and hungry. I checked in at the hotel to find a very friendly hostess who was very helpful & eager to assist with a wonderful stay. She directed me to a place near by for dinner. Dinner was great, staff […] was friendly. The room was large, modern decor, comfy bed, windows over looking the city. After retiring to bed it was very quiet and I slept well. One thing I didn't see was a clock but the hostess did supply one. No phone, that was ok, I had my cell. Over all my stay was memorable, and I do hope that if I go back to that area again I will definately make my stay longer at this hotel & in this little city that leaves me with ancient feelings of the past that intruigued me to know more about the history. Exterior of the property had peeling paint or completely absent trim. Front door key did not work. It was replaced. Air-conditioner was not affixed into upper wall mount. One kitchen light out. Windows were very dirty with desert dust preventing a clear view in what is billed as a view room. Crack running the length of right window pane. Sofa-sleeper […] is dangerous. When pulled out, three of the coils are broken/missing in the center of the bed. These are not visable to the geust..As I sat on the edge, I fell thru to the floor. As I was seated towards the top of the bed, the bed sandwiched on me with the couch portion lifting off the ground as well as the lower bed portion. When I pointed out that the bed needed work, the innkeeper told me 'this was because people shouldn't sit on the edge'. I replied, "that is where people are most likely to sit". On the favorable side, the room was clean and well-stocked. It was ready before the 4:00 check-in. It's pleasant location was walking distance to most of Virginia city. Attention to the working order of this room is in order. A helpful geust oriented outlook would greatly benefit this establishment. Read more

Made for a great change to the motel normality of a big road trip. An Historic, lovely and comforting bed and breakfast hotel. The owner is a wonderful person who gave us personalized service, directed us to a close by restaurant which was also fantastic. Breakfast in the morning was unbeatable! Delicious wraps, bacon, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Will definitely be back soon!

We stayed Saturday night. The location is above the main road which runs through Virginia City which is nice, no traffic. It's about a 5 minute walk to downtown with shops and food. The view from our room to the East with views of valley and mountains. At night the sky was full of stars and I saw a shooting star. The room was very nice. I've stayed […] in a lot of modern hotels but this time I wanted to stay in a room resembling the old west. The room had a ceiling fan, small tv (we did not use), bathroom & shower. The furniture, walls, and ceiling were all what I would expect from an old Western room. The bed was very comfortable. After we checked into the room, we went to the downtown area and walked around looking in shops. Then at sunset we drove down 341 towards Carson City and stopped to view Wild Horses! Sooo many, soo beautiful. We parked there watching wild horses and the sun setting. Very romantic! The breakfast the next morning was excellent. I never had Eggs Benedict served that way - highly recommend! I wish we could stay another night. I'm planning to return with my parents and friends. Read more

Like a small apartment with a seperate bedroom and kitchen off of the living room. We reserved the Jim Fair room and just fell in love with this B&B and the owner. Super sweet, attentive to our questions, and explained everything we needed to know about our stay. Its great to stay in same place Marilyn Monroe stayed when she was filming the Misfits. :) Our room was comfortable and very clean with a great view of the little garden […] outside. Edith Palmer Country Inn is located on a quiet street a few blocks away from downtown Virginia City, a preserved old west town from the Comstock Lode mining days. Lots of interesting things to do within walking distance, and great views of the valley below. The Inn is located in several older buildings and decorated in Victorian style, but the facilities […] are up to date. (One exception: the small window a/c had a little trouble keeping up with the August heat.) A tasty breakfast is served on an outdoor patio. Virginia City is a great historical place that is worth an overnight stay because there is so much to see and do here. This bed and breakfast adds to that historical atmosphere as there is so much history to it. The owner is a very friendly, charming and hospitable person. Our room was small, but very clean, cozy, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent; 3 mornings, 3 different breakfasts. There is a "parlor" for all guests to enjoy for reading, playing games, etc. The hostess is very friendly and extremely knowledgable about the history of the Inn and Virginia City. We'll be back.

This was a lovely inn in Virginia City. The rooms were small, but cozy and clean and the home-made breakfasts in the morning were absolutely delicious.
