"Absolutely beautiful setting"
This was a perfect place to stay for a family reunion happening at the neighboring camp ground. Gorgeous setting and very comfortable space. "An Ideal Place to Experience Fall"
In late September this year, my wife and I spent one night in a spacious well-furnished studio with a queen bed at the Sundance Resort. The guest rooms are located at a privately secluded area and grouped in separate buildings. The building housing our studio is surrounded by trees and a creek is nearby. It was fall – the walking path was covered with […] golden yellow and pinkish red fallen leaves. At night, the chirping of crickets echoed in the valley bringing back a lot of my childhood fond memory. In the morning, wild turkeys roamed around outside our window. It was a great night for both of us. By the way, food offered at the Grill was very good. Peter. 10/11/2013 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing and fun."
This was our second year at Sundance. We love the outdoors and the art facilities available for the family. Meeting local artists, and exploring different creative avenues in the Art Shack is so great! Hiking, exploring, horseback riding, and now fitness in the yoga yurt; there is something for everyone. Our whole family loved it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall great stay. Absolutely no complaints!"
Staff was exceptional. Facilities very clean. A very relaxing and tranquil location. Everything was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Can't give this hotel enough positives. Some mistakes made like room service sending the wrong food but was refunded and given free dessert! Rooms were private cabins with full service kitchens. Would have liked a rail in shower as it was difficult for me given my balance problemsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I am a big Redford fan so always wanted to go to the Sundance Festival but of course, could not afford it. The next best thing is staying at the Sundance Resort. Rates are still high but affordable, especially since we stayed there for our 30th wedding anniversary. Our suite was rustic but very comfortable. I loved the little patio where was saw wild […] turkeys grazing right in front of us. We stopped off at the grocery store on the way to get snacks and breakfast stuff. Our dinner at the Foundry Grill was great (my husband had wild boar!). The hike to Stewart Falls was memorable since parts of it was used in the movie Jeremiah Johnson. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. Rooms are large and very clean. The resort goes out of its way to be eco friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Mountain suites were very spacious. A nice change from the traditional. Rooms included a well stocked kitchen, well appointed furniture and amenities. We really enjoyed the relaxing deck overlooking the slopes. Only downside was 5-7 minute walk down to main area. Beautiful walkway, but not something to attempt with ski equipment. We had to drive down […] each morning to ski. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Sundance Resort Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay at Sundance Resort. Our lodging units are uniquely appointed as are our luxury mountain homes. We are so glad you liked the spaciousness of your accommodations and had an opportunity to spend some time relaxing on the deck. Your review is very much appreciated and we hope that we can welcome you back soon.
I had a wonderful stay at Sundance. Our room was big, yet very comfortable. Although, I was surprised for the price we paid, that the room wasn't more updated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Geared mostly for active young adults"
Our "Standard" room was disappointingly tiny, and ridiculously so for the price. We had to edge around the bed to move across the room, and there was only one chair. The bijou nature of the room was starkly evident one day of heavy rains when we discovered that Sundance has no common area, lounge, or other place capable of seating more than three or […] four people at a time, and that we had no option for a place to sit and read except our room. Our room was decorated nicely and had a pleasant, small patio, but the bathroom fixtures were terrible (sink fixtures so undersized that the water from the spigot ran down the back of the basin, making it hard to wash one's hands; the shower fixtures were floppy and loose, and seemingly incapable of calibrating a pleasant shower temperature). The sounds of plumbing, footfalls and voices from adjoining units were highly audible and borderline annoying. The room was in a building that required an outdoor, downhill walk from the parking area and a further descent of 20 steps, and we (seniors; bad knees) were not apprised of this fact before being escorted to the room. The mountain location is scenic and wonderful, and the grill restaurant served delicious food. But the lodging was underwhelming, and the whole resort seemed dated in size and amenities (again, for the price). All in all, the target demographic for this hotel is very young, vigorous and inclined to be outdoors most of the time. Others might find it a bit lacking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Could be almost perfect....."
The location is superb, the staff and hotel grounds are superb. The bed was VERY comfortable, the Foundry Restaurant on sight was wonderful. I stayed in Mandan #7 a cottage suite with mini kitchen. My few complaints are: the plumbing fixtures are old and the shower dripped, the shower knobs knocked and were poorly planned, need replacing. The bathroom […] tile work and fixtures need replacing desperately, they are no where near a 4 or 5 star resort. The furniture isn't comfortable. I struggled to know where to sit comfortably. The 2 chairs at the foot of the bed are not comfortable. The skylight above bed is nice in the day and horrible in the morning. You have an automatic alarm clock whether you want it or not. This is a great place to go if you are looking to get out of the city and relax yet there is still alot to do so you don't get bored. There are classes to take in the art studio, trails to hike, bikes to rent, and spa. The bar is cool as well as the fine dining food was excellent. The service in the property was very good. The tree room restaurant was amazing. Service was great, food wonderful. We booked a cabin suite, but the room was very small and only had a single chair - not an ideal cabin for a couple.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A great Colorado experience"
The short stay in Sundance resort met all our expectations. The surroundings and the hotel decor were special and fascinating in comparison of the other ski resort in Colorado. A very rusty genuine feeling of living an experience of the past. The accommodation, the hotel facilitiies, the ski complex blended with the remoteness of the mountains.

Genuine Expedia guest review
"Don't be swayed because it is owned by Robert Redford!"
06/27/14 Fiona240 Epsom, United Kingdom
This resort is very pretty, in a perfect location for skiing, mountain biking and hiking. However, we chose it because it is owned by Robert Redford and looked very nice on their website. It is very nice but we were not impressed. You stay in lodges/cabins in the mountains. It is very expensive to stay there, eat there, spa treatments and hire the equipment for all outdoor sports available. The cabin we stayed in was very small, no view at all from the verander, only of the very overgrown shrubs that had not been attended to for months. The cleanliness was very average. Only the bare basics was done each day, toiletries were not replenished, hairs left in the bath from the previous occupier, etc. Food in the restaurants was very good but very expensive in both restaurants. If you just want to use the lodge/cabin to sleep and shower in and you can afford it, then it's fine but not if you were looking for something slightly outside Salt Lake City for beauty, luxury and service. Didn't tick any of those boxes for us I'm afraid. Great location if you are into winter and summer outdoor sports though.
"Came down from PC for daytrip of hiking"
06/25/14 Cards17 Dallas, Texas
Only came for a daytrip of hiking. We took the family (grandparents, wife and I, and toddler) up the chairlift and hiked to Stuart Falls and back down to resort. Grounds are beautiful and the scenery in the area is amazing. I would definitely look into staying here for a few days. It seemed very quiet and peaceful.
""I never want to leave this beautiful place!""
06/22/14 Karen B San Francisco, California
I had read about Sundance Resort, but one must experience Sundance Resort. The grounds are beautiful, the food is delicious and the staff very friendly. My husband and I took advantage of the art classes offered in photography, pottery and jewelry. We hiked to Stewart Falls and enjoyed a relaxing couples message. Most importantly, there is a spirit here that captures your soul and makes it hard to leave. I know we will return.
"A huge disappointment"
06/21/14 In_search_of_sleep Durham,uk
We had been planning and trying to get to Sundance for some years. Eventually we got there this year. What a huge disappointment... Huge being an understatement. A lot is lost in the details, and it feels like a place trading on a name and a famous patron/ owner, rather than somewhere that I would expect to be world class. As we arrived, it wasn't hugely busy. We had driven down from Jackson in Wyoming , and as such were somewhat weary. The welcome at reception was nice enough, and we were given the rules of the resort. NO NOISE after 10:30... Quiet time.... Awesome we thought. We venture up to the cabin, with the young bellboy who helped us settle in. All good so far. After going out for dinner, we relax back at the cabin. Firstly the blinds failed... We had to get creative to get some privacy. 10:30 comes and goes, and our neighbours are still making an unholy noise. We leave it until 11, and then called down... Oh, we will send security up sir... ( great! )... Until no security comes, and the racket still goes on until midnight or beyond. Next morning .. Down at reception, we make a point of asking what failed.. It has to be said, the receptionist was plain confrontational at first... Until the truth about Sundance comes out.... THEY SIMPLY CANT STOP the noise, from "owners"... What? What owners? Well the dirty secret that at the time of booking is, this is a vacation ownership resort. Only renters get the noise rules it seems... Owners, have no such restrictions. Huffed we go out for the day. Upon return, after gettin a bit of shopping to cook in that night... We find the fridge totally broken...so iced up, that I could get a fist between the door and the frame! No good to store fresh food. Back to reception for another frosty confrontation. Without going into detail, we got moved... A larger cabin, but what a hike to get to it. From nearest carpark to room was up a lot of steps ( at altitude ). This place would be utterly unsuitable for anybody not so good on their feet. After moving rooms, we report that my wife's phone charger was in the first room. We ask the concierge if they can retrieve it. The night came and went without incident after that... Still no phone charger. To this day... Still no phone charger... A few emails later... Before and after getting home, no response. Sundance is not cheap, nor is it good, luxurious, or truly represented. We won't be going back, that's for sure. Highly disappointed.
"The place to be during the festival"
06/19/14 PreityIndia Pathankot, India
This is simply the place to be during the festival. Great staff, great food, great fun. If you want it for the festival, book early early early. This one takes planning and its all worth it . As an Indian visiting America, I had to have all my plans in order well in advance. I may only get to do this once in this lifetime, but it was worth it both in terms of money and in terms of experience. Thank you Sundance
"The place where I can live forever happy"
06/11/14 Barzu R Bucharest, Romania
Sundance resort was founded by Robert Redfort in 1969. It is the one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I have been in America!! If you, my dear tourist has this luck to visit Utah please o and spend one night there. You will never forget it. I am recommending this place as the place of fresh air, fresh green, cold water-flow, wild animals, good wine and food, luxury apartments and outdoor cinema!!
"Mom's Weekend Heaven"

My twins and Husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to Sundance for Mothers Day. Just what I needed. :) The SPA was relaxing and peaceful. Chloe gave me one of the Best facials with massage I've ever had! And of course the Tree Room was a 10 like Always! My favorite restaurant in Summit County. If you need a getaway from your busy, cell phone, work, kid life, this is definitely The place to go. The stream going thru Sundance is my favorite sound to relax next to and read a book, take a nap. And if you want to get a hike in, definitely ride the chairlift up and hike to the waterfall! Thank you Sundance for a memorable weekend! 10's all around!! Tania- Very happy wife/mom :)

This is the second time my wife and I stayed in the cabins at Sundance, and much like the first it was everything we hoped for. The private hot tube was awesome, we were able to have some cheese and fruit as we watched the snow cover the resort all from the comfort of the hot tube. The fireplace was great along with the bed, the staff was very helpful and polite and made us feel like we were the only ones on the mountain. Can't wait to go back, if you wondering if Sundance is worth the trip, stop, and do it. Redford hit a home run with this spot.
"A unique experience"
04/16/14 RobertWCC Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Stayed here for two nights with a few friends during mid February. The food is great, especially the breakfast. The staff are also exceptionally good. And the rooms, you get the feeling like you are in a cabin in the woods. Real cozy and comfortable, just like the bed. I enjoyed my stay here. Only complaint was that the room service was not prompt. The view out here is also great. Even more so after we went to the bar and knocked back a few cold ones. Would recommend.
"It doesn't get much better than this"
04/09/14 StrangeTripper Chicago
This review is for Sundance as a whole, so it includes the resort, ski hill and resto. In a nutshell, the Sundance Resort exceeded our expectations on every account: from the reception office, to the ski instructor dude, to our suite, to the lift operator dudes, to the rental shop dudes (and dudettes) to the restaurant staff (and food), tot the maintenance staff, o the ski slope itself and the views it provided, and the resort as a whole…. Our rustic loft suite had a full, albeit small, kitchen with all the basics to prepare just about every meal during our week stay. A stop (and return trip upon seeing that we actually had a full kitchen) at Winfoods, about 20 minutes away was all we needed to stock up for the week…. Our suite had a pull-out couch/bed for our 2 young boys…. It was fine for them, but for adults, it would have made for some uncomfortable sleeping. Plus, i could see it getting a bit tight with older kids, but for a family of 4, with little kids, it's perfect..... Our unit also had a washer/dryer, which was unexpected. Glad we had it! The unit was cleaned and tidied each day. The only complaint i have is the loft, where the master bed was, got hot each night. We opened the skylight and that helped some, but not as much as you might think. Since it appears these suites don't have AC, i would imagine it would murderously hot in the summer. Also, it's worth noting, each suite is privately owned, so they're likely to be furnished differently. The resort as a whole, including the ski hill, was low key. Mid-week, we took a break and went to Park City (our first visit) and honestly, after driving thru for a few minutes, we agreed we were glad we were staying at Sundance, and not at over-commercialized Park City….. That said, if you're looking for a ski holiday with a Disneyland-type experience with the shopping, nightlife and all the bling that goes with it, then Sundance is probably not for you. Then again, if you'd like some of that experience, but would prefer a quiet stay, Park City is only 30 minutes from Sundance……. I'm not a downhiller, but an avid XC skier, so my mini review of the ski hill is from the perspective of a beginner….. The ski hill has about 2100 feet of vertical, which i'm guessing is on the low side for a western ski resort…. But there was plenty of green skiing for beginners like me. My boys snowboarded and found themselves on some blues after awhile. The lift attendants were on the ball and were cool about slowing the chairs for us each time we got on….. When you got to the top of the first ski lift, the views were INCREDIBLE, and i was told, the top of the back hill was even more stunning, but everything back there is blue and black, so we didn't go….. The snow was your typical spring conditions, which is fine by me---anything is better than brown ground! The crowds were next to nothing--Spring skiing ROCKS! The lower trails were groomed each night. The ski rental shop was a good experience. My wife took a snowboard lesson and she thought the instructor was great. The only disappointment was they closed the Nordic Center just before we got there, so i schlepped our XC skis out there for nothing!! For our anniversary, we ate the Foundry Grill. Everything was fresh and delicious. My chicken pesto pizza was great, and that's coming from a pizza foodie from Chicago! The rustic atmosphere was the best. And the waiting area just outside the restaurant was a great place to take a break from skiing and to hang…. My wife got some work done there, along with a few others…… From what i can tell, the lodging costs seem to be on the higher side, the mid-range resto (Foundry Grill) was fairly reasonable, and the skiing costs (lift tix and rentals) were literally only a few bucks more per day than the local ski hills in the Midwest…. That said, overall, Sundance works out to be a bit pricey for a lengthly stay, but if you prepare most/all of your meals, and bring your own gear, you'll save a ton of $$$…. So, in conclusion, we absolutely LOVED Sundance, so much so, we extended our stay an extra night. TA will only let me give it a 5, but if i could give it a 10, i would……………
