"A magical place"
A beautiful resort nestled in the mountains. Robert Redford is quite the visionary. He developed tastefully while putting the environment first. Service is great and the Owl Bar with live music is a must. Not to mention, there is an outdoor Amphitheatre.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Absolutely beautiful setting"
This was a perfect place to stay for a family reunion happening at the neighboring camp ground. Gorgeous setting and very comfortable space. Enjoyed the restaurants and bar, and also enjoyed massages. Only issues were on service. "An Ideal Place to Experience Fall"
In late September this year, my wife and I spent one night in a spacious well-furnished studio with a queen bed at the Sundance Resort. The guest rooms are located at a privately secluded area and grouped in separate buildings. The building housing our studio is surrounded by trees and a creek is nearby. It was fall – the walking path was covered with […] golden yellow and pinkish red fallen leaves. At night, the chirping of crickets echoed in the valley bringing back a lot of my childhood fond memory. In the morning, wild turkeys roamed around outside our window. It was a great night for both of us. By the way, food offered at the Grill was very good. Peter. 10/11/2013 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing and fun."
This was our second year at Sundance. We love the outdoors and the art facilities available for the family. Meeting local artists, and exploring different creative avenues in the Art Shack is so great! Hiking, exploring, horseback riding, and now fitness in the yoga yurt; there is something for everyone. Our whole family loved it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall great stay. Absolutely no complaints!"
Staff was exceptional. Facilities very clean. A very relaxing and tranquil location. Everything was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Can't give this hotel enough positives. Some mistakes made like room service sending the wrong food but was refunded and given free dessert! Rooms were private cabins with full service kitchens. Would have liked a rail in shower as it was difficult for me given my balance problemsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I am a big Redford fan so always wanted to go to the Sundance Festival but of course, could not afford it. The next best thing is staying at the Sundance Resort. Rates are still high but affordable, especially since we stayed there for our 30th wedding anniversary. Our suite was rustic but very comfortable. I loved the little patio where was saw wild […] turkeys grazing right in front of us. We stopped off at the grocery store on the way to get snacks and breakfast stuff. Our dinner at the Foundry Grill was great (my husband had wild boar!). The hike to Stewart Falls was memorable since parts of it was used in the movie Jeremiah Johnson. I will always remember our stay at Sundance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Iwas very disappointed that they didn't clean my room one night. I also had to be changed rooms because they gave me the wrong one. I love Sundance though. they promised to upgrade me next time because of problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great getaway place for families. Thought it might be only a winter location, but there is a lot to do, hiking, riding the ski lift, very relaxing.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Fantastic Service and Location"
The staff was extremely helpful and professional. Rooms are large and very clean. The resort goes out of its way to be eco friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Mountain suites were very spacious. A nice change from the traditional. Rooms included a well stocked kitchen, well appointed furniture and amenities. We really enjoyed the relaxing deck overlooking the slopes. Only downside was 5-7 minute walk down to main area. Beautiful walkway, but not something to attempt with ski equipment. We had to drive down […] each morning to ski. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Sundance Resort Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay at Sundance Resort. Our lodging units are uniquely appointed as are our luxury mountain homes. We are so glad you liked the spaciousness of your accommodations and had an opportunity to spend some time relaxing on the deck. Your review is very much appreciated and we hope that we can welcome you back soon.
I had a wonderful stay at Sundance. Our room was big, yet very comfortable. Although, I was surprised for the price we paid, that the room wasn't more updated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

What made this outstanding was the view from our cabin, otherwise it was pleasing. Definitely not a 5 star stay but I got such a great deal on Expedia that I was not upset with "Pleasing".Genuine Expedia guest review
"Geared mostly for active young adults"
Our "Standard" room was disappointingly tiny, and ridiculously so for the price. We had to edge around the bed to move across the room, and there was only one chair. The bijou nature of the room was starkly evident one day of heavy rains when we discovered that Sundance has no common area, lounge, or other place capable of seating more than three or […] four people at a time, and that we had no option for a place to sit and read except our room. Our room was decorated nicely and had a pleasant, small patio, but the bathroom fixtures were terrible (sink fixtures so undersized that the water from the spigot ran down the back of the basin, making it hard to wash one's hands; the shower fixtures were floppy and loose, and seemingly incapable of calibrating a pleasant shower temperature). The sounds of plumbing, footfalls and voices from adjoining units were highly audible and borderline annoying. The room was in a building that required an outdoor, downhill walk from the parking area and a further descent of 20 steps, and we (seniors; bad knees) were not apprised of this fact before being escorted to the room. The mountain location is scenic and wonderful, and the grill restaurant served delicious food. But the lodging was underwhelming, and the whole resort seemed dated in size and amenities (again, for the price). All in all, the target demographic for this hotel is very young, vigorous and inclined to be outdoors most of the time. Others might find it a bit lacking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Could be almost perfect....."
The location is superb, the staff and hotel grounds are superb. The bed was VERY comfortable, the Foundry Restaurant on sight was wonderful. I stayed in Mandan #7 a cottage suite with mini kitchen. My few complaints are: the plumbing fixtures are old and the shower dripped, the shower knobs knocked and were poorly planned, need replacing. The bathroom […] tile work and fixtures need replacing desperately, they are no where near a 4 or 5 star resort. The furniture isn't comfortable. I struggled to know where to sit comfortably. The 2 chairs at the foot of the bed are not comfortable. The skylight above bed is nice in the day and horrible in the morning. You have an automatic alarm clock whether you want it or not. Our stay at Sundance was perfect !! Traci at the front desk was very helpful she got us dinner reservations & enrolled in pottery classes with very little notice ! Also Josh the bellman was very informative.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The tree room restaurant was amazing. Service was great, food wonderful. We booked a cabin suite, but the room was very small and only had a single chair - not an ideal cabin for a couple.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A great Colorado experience"
The short stay in Sundance resort met all our expectations. The surroundings and the hotel decor were special and fascinating in comparison of the other ski resort in Colorado. A very rusty genuine feeling of living an experience of the past. The accommodation, the hotel facilitiies, the ski complex blended with the remoteness of the mountains.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely in the Fall"
09/17/14 Lisadavetravel18 Akron, Ohio
Spent three nights at Sundance in a Mandan Suite, after visiting national parks in southern Utah. Lovely place- can't really compare it to any other hotel, since the rooms are really like little cabins in the woods. Rustic chic. Everything was fine, clean and cozy. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful if needed. Ate breakfast at the Foundry grill- don't miss that! The Tree Room was a wonderful anniversary dinner. It really is a unique experience to stay there. We went on the moonlight chair lift ride that was fun- take a blanket though like the local young people do! The grounds are beautiful- stream running through it, woodsy, well kept but rustic too. The leaves were just starting to fall and it felt like fall, nice and cool. Five star stay! Only thing to be aware of, is that the walk from the Mandan area is not flat, since it is a ski resort. If needed they will give you a ride back to your room if you walk down and it gets dark. They even give you a key with a little flashlight to get around if needed.

A simply wonderful place even without the snow. The people and atmosphere here are special - it feels like everyone believes the place to be special. The location is stunning - we were there in June, but I can imagine the snow would be a winter wonderland - even so it was captivating even without. We up graded to a cabin which was gorgeous and wonderfully fitted.
"Cabin in the woods"
09/07/14 TimeAway2012 Portland, Oregon, USA
We booked a suite online after studying the posts on Tripadvisor and we delighted by our experience. First, the suite was a duplex unit that was laid out to feel like our own cabin in the woods. The rustic decor was also luxurious, as we had a sleeping loft, kitchen, full bath, and a small deck ... the overall affect was serenity. We were sorry to leave! Sundance Resort is an interesting place in a beautiful setting ... it caters to outdoor enthusiasts and foodies alike. The Foundry Grill was excellent, but after a day of hiking we ended up preferring the Owl Bar, which has similar food but a more rustic atmosphere with good music (live, later in the evening). Be sure and look at the bar menu and study Robert Redford's quote on the bottom. It poetically describes the perseverance, vision, and history behind the resort.

As soon as you arrive at the .Sundance Resort you know you are where you always want to be. It is serene, yet rugged. The scenery cannot be beat. On arrival I was greeted by Paul, the bell person who was the total representative of Sundance. He was friendly, accommodating and thorough. Then dinner in the Foundry Grill was made totally perfect by Anthony our Wait person. He loves his job and that made it perfect. He recommended the Steelhead trout and he was so right. Then after dinner he suggested items for breakfast and again hit a perfect Bullseye. The setting, cabin and meals were superb. Can't wait to go back and enjoy it even more.

I just returned from a long weekend retreat from Sundance. Everything about the weekend was perfect. The first night we experienced the last night of the Bluebird Cafe concert. What a treat. Every staff member was friendly and professional. The weekend was designed for R & R so one of the days we relaxed in the home watching movies and of course had to watch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That is a classic with two of the best looking movie stars who have made a lasting impact on the universe!! It should be on everyone's bucket list to experience at least once but I will go back several times more!!

"Very disappointed, night and day"

I don't usually comment or complain about a hotel stay; this is an exception. Where to start? My wife and I booked two consecutive four-days stays, the first at the Sundance, second at the Waldorf in Park City. It was night and day. We are still at the Waldorf and it has saved our vacation. But this is about the Sundance. On the good side: the Sundance staff and common facilities are friendly and welcoming. That's the good, now the not so good: We decided to stay here based on reviews calling this resort "rustic elegance" But our accommodations were anything but. We stayed in a mountain view suite in the Mandan area.. In a nutshell it was dated and in serious need of repair. I can't begin to list all the problems: balcony falling apart and with wasp nests, no air conditioning (it was 87 degrees a couple of days), old appliances (and yes), a VHS player, uncomfortable and old furniture, phone didn't work. We had to keep the windows open at night, but our bedroom was about five feet from a public walkway so anyone walking by could look right in. Our bill was wrong and we were twice overcharged by a total of about $900, requiring four phone calls to correct. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. We were not happy. Luckily, we are now at the Waldorf and loving it! It has truly saved our vacation!.
"As Close to Perfect as We've Found Anywhere in the World"

This place is magical. Even after several visits, I'm still awed by the sheer grace and serenity of these mountains. The energy is transcendent, and you see the same appreciation and respect in the eyes of everyone you meet. The lodges are wonderful, strong and composed, and perfectly fitted to the woodlands they reside within. The people who work here have an infectious joy that's hard to ignore, from Brenda at the concierge desk to Brian at check-in to Skyler in the restaurant. The guys in the gear/bike/ski shop are knowledgeable and helpful and seemingly delighted to be where they are. On the other hand, I do regret that there are some serious issues with the reservations system online, and that their rate structure is confusing, to say the least. Also, one concierge (not Brenda, who is terrific) lamented that they receive far too many emails to handle them properly. Be warned: it takes days to receive a response to simple requests. And sadly, their retail shop has severely declined. They are overstocked with thick, heavy sweatshirts in August, and the only t-shirts they offer for hot days have SUNDANCE in large, tacky letters printed upon them. I was deeply saddened not to be able to buy 1/2 dozen of the tasteful soft-cotton t-shirts with Sundance in small letters that I had purchased before. And there is no help to be found in the shop, only giggling young girls engaged in gossip and blissfully unaware of customers in their midst. All in all, the problems with the reservation system, the concierge desk, and the shop can be easily fixed. That's why I still rate Sundance 5 stars, and why I'll keep coming back, as often as I can.

This is a beautiful location to visit when you are nearby in Utah. The resort is meticulously maintained and there are some delicious restaurants. It is hard to tell it is a place to stay for the night because it is cleverly hidden in its natural setting. Walk the grounds and have lunch. Take the ski lift up to the trails and see Stuart Falls. Beautiful! Sundance is a nice place to spend the day even if you are not staying the night.
