After reading the reviews, I didn't think twice about booking the Pinckney, nor spending close to $400 a night. After traveling for 10 hours, we checked into the Pinckney. "Cool Place" I thought as we walked over to our room. We get into our room, and the girlfriend goes to use the restroom only to find that it wasn't clean...at all. Urine all over […] the toilet seat, hair all over the toilet, floor, and tub. Unacceptable. They did come up and clean the room while we went out for dinner, but I expect that to be done before we check in. Next, the worst part. Let me just warn any and all travelers here that if you do check into the Pinckney and they give you room 301, leave the hotel immediately. This room is not only directly next to the elevator, and next to where the maids like to park their carts, but it's also DIRECTLY below the 4th floor breakfast room. At 5am they begin setting up the room, dragging chairs and tables, banging all of the serving dishes around, walking back and forth (wood flooring everywhere) to the point that our room would shake. It was by far the noisiest hotel experience I've ever had. At least if it were a bunch of screaming kids, or other noisy guests, there would be someone I could yell at, but I felt helpless here. Just completely unacceptable for the price that I paid for this hotel. We loved Charleston (it was our first visit) and we will be coming back to the town, but I don't think there is any possible way we would stay at this hotel again. Read more

The location of the Inn is awesome! You are within walking distance of everything downtown. However, you won't want to spend any time in your room because the rooms are TINY. The toilet overflowed right when we checked in to our room. I reserved a room with a courtyard view and our window looked out at the indoor atrium.

The room was very nice, but the cleaner they used leaves a unplesant smell in the room. It is not over powering, but you can smell it. Our phone did not work. I looked on the stationary to get the hotel number and no one answered that phone. So my husband went down to tell them the phone did not work. We stayed there for three nights. Great location in Historical Charleston. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant recommended by the front desk staff, Fleeting Landing, is our favorite restaurant. Breakfast on the balcony is very romantic, with great harbor view. We would like to go back to the hotel.

This place was really awesome, we had a really good time here. The breakfast was on the roof and it was free. It was a continetal breakfast but they had a pretty good selection to choose from. Very Clean, Friendly Staff, good loaction, but if you are looking to relax and sleep in during your stay, I wouldn't recommend staying here. It was the nosiest hotel room we have ever stayed in and it didn't help that our room was right next to the Elevator.

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom could use an update. The 4th floor terrace is lovely for morning coffee and breakfast. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful, but I found that almost everyone in Charleston was. The room was a little crusty (especially the shower), but the bed was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again without hesitation, but never for full rate.

Shameful. As soon as they noticed my reservation was made thru Hotels.com gave me the 06 type of room whose area is not enough for an adult, less for two. The Andrew Pinckney is in a great location. There was a problem with the AC unit in our room which the staff tried unsuccessfully to fix. It was shooting soot onto my bed. They called in an HVAC expert. He also was unable to stop the soot. The hotel was booked so there was no other room, forcing me to stay there and have a bad night's sleep. This is the LOUDEST hotel I've ever stayed in. It is awful!! You can hear ever sneeze, footstep, and conversation that anyone is having in the surrounding rooms. After our first night and little sleep, they did move us, and that did help. We couldn't believe how you could hear everything. They were helpful at the front desk. The location can't be beat. My wire and I are in our late 50s, and we walked everywhere we went. Staff was extremely helpful. Our smoke detector started chirping for a battery change about 7am the first morning, but we were already awake so no big deal. But makes me wonder why they are changed at regular intervals. Note to self: historic inns have walls […] that are paper thin, very little insulation against noise,so don't book another one. Only two pillows per queen bed in our postage-stamp sized room. Bathroom was also quite small. Rowdy guests made for rude awakening at 2am and 3am on successive nights. Breakfast, while free, was not that good. Boiled eggs tasted as if they were boiled and refrigerated the night before. Cannot recommend based on our experience. Read more
