"Nice place to stay for the weekend"
Hotel staff were excellent - the walls were a little thin, could hear the neighbor's pretty easily, Located close to the beachGenuine Hotels.com guest review
All the staff were very pleasant and hekpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff"
We will definitely return to Inn by the Harbor on our next trip, the grounds were beautiful. The staff were friendly, nice, helpful. The hotel was warm, inviting, comfortable, clean, well maintained. The amenities were great. Loved breakfast. Wish we could have joined them for wine, cheese and cookies- great idea.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice but expensive"
Vintage 1950s style room with big kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful courtyard with excellent continental breakfast. However, the pillows were shredded foam and the hair dryer didn't work. For the price I expected a bit more elegance.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved the front desk staff. Such a nice, quaint hotel. The only miss was that we were to have a room with a queen bed and was given one with doubles.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice people....dated room"
The personnel were very pleasant but the rooms were out of the 60's. Didn't expect it to be a hot, hip hotel but although clean, the wallpaper, bedspread, drapes, furnishings really were from the last century....and not in a mid-century modern sort of way. Nice variety offered in lobby for breakfast. If it were in flyover land, the room would not be […] unexpected. But in Santa Barbara? Time to re-do, people...especially for the price. "Well Maintained Hotel with Lovely Courtyard"
The hotel has been beautifully maintained and is a small hotel by the usual standards. The courtyard is lush and tropical with vines trained along the outside stair and walkway railings. I don't know when the hotel was built, but the small kitchen and bathroom reminded me of the Madmen era and both have been well kept up and are quite clean. This gave […] the room a sense of history different from a newer somewhat sterile space. The table and chairs in the room could be used for meals or for setting up one's laptop. Beach cruiser bicycles are complimentary and are fun to ride along the waterfront which is about two blocks away. Walking to State St., the Pier, and local shops and restaurants is quite easy. Though the hotel has a few businesses near it, nice homes and other attractive hotels make for a nice neighborhood to walk through to get to where one wants to go. Yanonali St. off State St. near the water has a popular brewery and wine tasting rooms. There are also cafes and restaurants in this area. It makes a great area to explore. Kayak rentals are nearby in the harbor. A morning paddle is a great way to start the day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel staff, facility getting old."
The hotel itself is getting old, you can see attempts to update and paint, but overall for the price I paid this time of year it was possibly slightly over priced IMHO. The staff was great!!! Rooms were clean. I would stay here again if I get a better price next time!Genuine Expedia guest review
"All the warmth of Santa Barbara!"
We always have a great time here - the extra's like the wine and cheese in the afternoon and warm cookies at night, bikes to ride, heated pool and spa, movies for free - make this a real vacation highlight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy Room by the harbor"
I absolutely loved this place and have told all of my friends to stay here. It was warm and inviting, the staff is incredible. It was perfect for the weekend, so close to everything. The room was like a small studio with a kitchen and view of the pool. The best part of this place is the staff, second only to the free parking, cookies & milk, wine & […] cheese, and deluxe continental breakfast. Don't hesitate to book this place, its very cute. This place was great. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, and we enjoyed our stay. They offer wine and cheese in the afternoon and milk and cookies at night...very charming. Price was a tiny bit high as it was not as close to the beach as I thought it would be, but it is in walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cute little place"
This was a great little hotel for our stay. It was close enough to the beach and State Street that walking was no problem. We found a great rate and they upgraded us to a suite room. The place was definitely an old apartment complex at one point, but who cares? It was clean and convenient. Really comfy bed, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Inn by the Harbor"
It was a quick stop. Convenient location for my purpose. Friendly and nice enough. Not a destination place for me but not bad overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Right near the harbor and beach. Great continental breakfast and wine and cheese reception at night. Don't forget the milk and cookies!Genuine Expedia guest review

"business trip to SBC so glad close to campus."
I only stayed overnight but very quiet. great touch to have refreshments upon arrival, nice continental breakfast. Hotel clerk was slow noticing that I was waiting to be serviced, but very accommodating when it came to changing my room to first floor because there was not elevator.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff were very friendly and it was great to have a glass of wine and cheese and crackers awaiting us upon arrival. The rooms were pleasant, clean and comfortable. Older tiles were chipped but to be expected due to the age of the facilities. We were upgraded and each room had a kitchenette which we were not expecting. The hotel was convenient […] enough though on a very busy street that was difficult to access during rush hour. It was also a bit more like a standard motel than a bed and breakfast. Pricey too even with the discount. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall our stay was comfortable. The front desk staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The grounds were clean and gardens nicely kept.Genuine Expedia guest review
"ok for just 1 night"
The front desk women that checked us in was not friendly at all, that was the night of 11/5. We did not feel welcomed by her or felt that she was helpful. The room had a strange odor and the windows were so thin we could hear every car door, car alarm, people walking by. There were also loud crickets or some other bug chirping loudly in our room which […] made it difficult to sleep as well. Room did not feel clean. We were traveling with our toddler and preschool age children. I would not stay here again if we decide to stop through this area. Besides its location to Main st and the beach, I do not see any other reason to recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Two days in Santa Barbara"
This old style is well located near the beach The staff are very friendly knowledgeable about the area and helpfull The pool is a great facility free bike hire free car parking wine reception each evening very adequate breakfast included Overall great value for money Woul stay againGenuine Expedia guest review
"nice hotel close to harbor"
the three best things about the hotel was 1.) that we got a kitchen with it which was great for eating after dinner snacks or left overs, storing our own groceries in the very nice full sized refrigerator: 2.) the sliding door opened out to a very nice garden, patio area: 3.) great happy hour with wine and ordevors. The staff was friendly and easy going. […] The hotel does need some up dating. The cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen were old style wood in need of paint with a more modern flair. The wall paper was too busy and dated and should be replaced. The rest of the furniture and decor was good. I would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I was disappointed in the hotel."
The Inn was old and could have used some updating. It smelled old in the room as well. Our room was at the back of the parking lot. No view. At the prices they charge it was not all worth the money. Sorry. In the kitchen there was a slot for a bread board but that was missing. In one of the cabinet doors in the kitchen there was a hole . The liner paper […] that was in the cabinets looked as old as I can remember that as a child in my parents house in the 60's. They put a towel rack up in the bathroom and left the plaster around the holes and never painted it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay!"
We had a great stay at the Inn By The Harbor. Room was comfortable and clean. The property is well landscaped with private room entrances. Staff is friendly and knowledgable of the area. "Comfortable, convenient and quaint hotel"
close to Amtrak, beach, and state street. Friendly helpful staff. loved the wine and cheese, cookies and breakfast selections. room was clean and quiet with comfortable bed and furniture.Genuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed our stay near the beach in this easy to find, close to everything, hotel. The staff were responsive and engaging, offering cheese and crackers (and fruit) along with wine, and later milk and warm cookies. The room was a little dated but was clean and well decorated. It was quiet and our stay was peaceful. We would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Santa Barbara Visit"
Nice room - lots of space, plus was the kitchen with full size refrigerator and a 4 burner gas stove. Nice breakfast - and wine/cheese in afternoon. Missed the evening cookies so can't commentGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice, clean, little place to stay (included a kitchenette) not far from the harbor but a good walk to State street. Location is on a busy street next to a college so be aware of lots of traffic. The breakfast, afternoon wine/cheese, and evening cookies were nice. Wish we had known about the free bike usage before hand. We would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very clean. It's older and has older furniture and fixtures, but it's one of the cleanest places I've stayed in. The staff are very professional too. Also, the housekeeping doesn't come around too early either.Genuine Expedia guest review
"well taken care of...love all the plants & gardens"
very nice hotel.....loved using their bikes....,but ..the work out gym needs to be larger...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice refurbished hotel, great staff, clean"
Nice, clean, comfortable, and quite. Helpful staff, recommended a place for dinnerGenuine Expedia guest review
"Off the beaten path"
The hotel is very nice but a hike from State Street and the heart of Santa Barbara. Once we got our bearings, we found a decent route to walk, but when we went to dinner we drove because the walk was long and not very hospitable. Now I understand the less than stellar rating, even though the hotel itself is fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"At Least It Was in Santa Barbara"
Noisy, cheaply renovated, small room. Motel 6 would have been a better room. We won't be back...Genuine Expedia guest review
"garden view was great"
enjoyed the hotel; spacious room with kitchenette; helpful staff; fresh fruit at breakfastGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to harbor and 101 freeway for easy travel"
Pretty nice for an older hotel. Morning breakfast and wine and cheese offering in the afternoon were very good. Front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable... and recommended two excellent restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Did not work for us!"
When I booked the hotel on the basis of to picture of the front of the hotel (which looked quaint), for me it did not accurately represent the neighborhood and room - the neighborhood was not great (on main street, hotel next to it was run down, it was relatively far from State Street; the room was very basic and felt like a cheap room). Although the […] staff was helpful and the breakfast was acceptable, the experience was definitely not worth the price we paid!!!!!!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Courteous and excellent staffs okay hotel."
On checking, we were greeted by a courteous and very informative check in staff. The room is bigger than we expected but the sheets feels dirty and used. The shower goes from too cold to too hot. The location is excellent. It's within walking distance to the pier. The breakfast spread is excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beware of a name"
This is an older hotel that is about 4 blocks from the harbor. I expected the hotel to be newer and closer to the harbor. The staff were very accomodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Inn By The Harbor Greetings from Santa Barbara, I am terribly sorry to hear that our hotel did not meet your expectations. As you can see from previous reviews, many of our guests appreciate our close proximity to the Santa Barbara Harbor and downtown area, so it is quite disappointing to here you were less than satisfied. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our hotel team. I will be sure to share your compliments to everyone. Warmly, Greg Broussard
"rested and relaxed"
We had a lovely stay able to get to the harbor and to downtown State Street easily. we enjoyed the free bicycles that they let us use to ride around Santa Barbara. Breakfast was great and the staff was very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on the beach, free cheese and wine"
Nice place to stay, but was quite expensive on July 4th weekend. Breakfast was included and pretty good. The free cheese and wine in the evening was a nice touchGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Convenient: close to 7-11 and freeway; Nice to have benches outside rooms for reading or just relaxing watching over the pool and garden; The only point to be deducted is both bath towels have dirt marks that can't be washed away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What A Misleading Place"
When you look at the picture on the website you think this place will be great. It's a great example of how having great pictures can suck people in to believing the place is nicer than it is. What a dump! The location is good, but the pool is tiny, the rooms are dated, and the whole place has the feel of a converted apartment complex. That may be fine […] for long term cheap stays, but not for $231 bucks a night. Now I wish we had paid more and stayed at a legitimate resort. This place was not worth it. Response by Inn By The Harbor Greetings George, I am terribly sorry to hear you felt our online photos were misleading. It is never our intention to mislead guests about our hotel appearance or the many amenities we offer. Your comments are very important to us so please know that we are quite disappointed we did not live up to the exceptional standards that many Expedia guests share. "Nice hotel, not that far to the beach"
Clean room, full kitchen, great continental breakfast. Afternoon drinks and snacks were a nice treat! Pool and Jacuzzi were small but nice. Did not borrow the bikes that were free but loved that we could have.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not worth the money"
The room was very small. The queen bed was soft and lumpy. The shower head was so low you had to squat to wash your hair. No drawers for your clothes. Ha d to leave the noisy air conditioner on all night cause the only alternative would be to leave the patio sliding door open which people can walk by and is a safety issue.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Inn By The Harbor Greetings Greg, Let me begin by apologizing for our hotel not meeting your expectations. Having a good night’s rest is important so I am very sorry to hear you found our bed to be uncomfortable. We have received many compliments regarding our World Class Beauty Rest mattresses so your comments are quite uncharacteristic. Please know that our hotel team will inspect each mattress to ensure a restful sleep for our all guests. Per AAA requirements, guestrooms fixtures are located at the standard level for guest comfort and usability. Fortunately our location adjacent to the beach and year round climate allows for little use of an air conditioner. However, our maintenance team will be sure to inspect each unit for proper maintenance. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention and helping us to better serve all our guests. Sincerely, Greg Broussard – General Manager
Nice walk to the harbor, excellent staff and service, our mattresses were worn out and need replacing, we would definitely stay againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Felt like a luxurious home"
Loved it! Definitely worth the price. Staff was amazingly helpful and accomodating. we got there really early and they didn't have a room for us, but gave us a parking permit, a map and some suggestions of what to do until the room was ready. Ended up letting us check in about 90 min early. LOVED the wine and cheese hour and cookies and milk hour. The […] whole place is so warm and homey - room was quite comfortable and had a very nice kitchen. The ONLY thing I could find wrong with the room was that the water pressure in the shower was a little low. w Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Arriving at the Inn by the Harbor after a long, traffic-riddled drive, we were greeted by Liz at the front desk, who was informative and very friendly. The room was spacious and had a full kitchen, as well as a comfortable couch--all of which made our stay feel like a home away from home. The bed was incredibly soft. We slept soundly, especially after […] long walks by the beach as the hotel is only a couple of blocks away from the shoreline. The complimentary wine and cheese made for a relaxing, continental afternoon; the cookies and milk that followed were a comforting, uber-delicious way to unwind. The next day, after a short walk to State Street, we enjoyed a relaxing time sitting on the patio to our room, which overlooked the hotel's clean and inviting pool and jacuzzi. We had a great stay at this hotel and definitely plan to go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
