"Solid independent hotel"
Solid hotel for downtown Atlanta. F&B and style not as strong as it could be but good alternative to other limited service hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"3 Star Hotel at 4 Star Price"
This hotel is over-rated and over priced. Quality of hotel and services was about average and what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Hotel maintenance was just ok, and the air conditioner in my room was very loud. This hotel is not worth the extra money I paid in comparison to other nearby hotels. Skip the hotel restaurant as well: Poor service […] and mediocre food. I love staying in renovated historic buildings, but I expected way more from this hotel.. "Personnel take our stay up a notch"
Loved the hotel and our room. But we all expect a clean, comfy room so it's often up to the personnel to take a visit up a notch and the folks at this hotel certainly did that. Friendly and as helpful as they possibly could be. Kudos for the staff "that gets it."Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad experience all around."
Not important. Nothing more to add. Nothing more to add. Would never stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
I was looking for a ghost adventure but just enjoyed my quite weekend small but very nice will stay again but no ghost here read up on history of this hotel most deadly hotel fire in history!!!! 119 deathsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Easy walking to downtown area. One-way streets with limited turn around made it difficult to access hotel because we weren't familiar with area. Now we know the best way to arrive for check-in. Parking fees at adjacent garage are ridiculous but apply to all hotels in the area. Very nice remodel, friendly staff, no problems with elevators or room and […] reasonably priced breakfast options at the on-site restaurant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We generally stay at the Ellis at least once a year. The past years have been uniformly excellent. This year things in general were not up to past performances. Had to get lights and sink repaired when we first arrived. The room itself was minuscule and uncomfortable, compared to past rooms. Received incorrect information on breakfast hours. Difficult […] to get front desk phones to pick up. As always though, the staff was wonderful and the valet service impeccable. Would plan to stay there next year, hoping for the best. This year was not definitely up to usual Ellis standards.JPC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to MARTA station"
The Ellis Hotel is an excellent hotel, with nice rooms and good service. The only criticism I have is about the restaurant. The service was somewhat lacking at the morning breakfast buffett, which for the amount charged is very limited.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was great. The rooms were fantastic, the valet parking and guys who brought the car were great and on time for my husband and I. The only 1 little comment. The lady at the reception when we arrived wasn't that welcoming. She needs to clearly understand she is the "Face" of this business. Other than that little hicup. All other employees […] were fantastic and I will still go back to Ellis and recommend it to my friends and family. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel, lots of extra expenses."
I stayed here for one night because we were planning to do the aquarium the next morning. Although the hotel was nice I was a little surprised about the $25 mandatory valet cost for our car and that a continental breakfast is $10! The room was clean but their bathtubs seemed a little shallow, I'm a petite girl, but I could see anyone larger spilling […] out of it. The front desk told us some decent suggestions on what to do for a Sunday night when the city is basically closed but I don't plan on coming back to Atlanta. Good hotel for what I was looking for, but I got it for a deal too. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stay at the Ellis yearly when we visit our daughter...every thing is typically first rate...This time, room had trash, bathroom door had broken latch, shower faucet was wobbly, night valet not paying attention to cars arriving....Disappointed. My husband did lose his phone, and they found it & overnighted it back to us. Great !Genuine Expedia guest review
"Opt for the valet parking"
The hotel was historic and the architecture was beautiful. The interior was contemporary. Our room was tiny - we kept bumping into each other. Everything was updated - except the windows. The room had single sash windows that opened. Our window actually fell off its track and into my hands - we had to manually shove it back in place. We were on the […] third floor so no security issues, but it was surprising. There is no parking at the hotel - contrary to what I was told by Hotels.com. Valet parking is available and I would highly recommend it. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The hotel is close to everything in downtown Atlanta. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"I was excited to stay at this "nice" hotel"
This hotel is nice at first but our room needed to have been cleaned better. We found dark hairs on the comforter, a ketchup packet on the floor next to the bed, and skuff marks on the wall. The worst part was the shower. It needs some serious maintance. The drain did not drain properly. You had to take a very quick shower to not stand in backed up […] water. Didn't give you the luxury feel that you are paying for. I did enjoy the bathroom though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Romantic Weekend with Concert at Philips arena"
Perfect. Valorie made sure every detail was planned, she suggested adding the romance package which I did. It included rose petals on the bed, champagne, chocolate strawberries, valet parking fee, AND breakfast in bed. I called her 6 - 8 times with questions & confirming all was arranged & she seemed as excited as me, she was never irritated and was […] always available. She even offered to arrange limo service to the concert, but I ended up winning the service from a local company. We ate lunch across the street at Atlanta Grill very good lobster sandwich and best hamburger ever. Based on other reviews we asked for a high room facing the city; the room was simple, elegant perfect for us. Valet was easy, pull up to the sign and the doorman took our bag & arranged valet. Valorie even called me on her day off to make sure our arrival was smooth and as we wanted! I would highly recommend and we will stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Ellis Hotel March 2014"
As always, the staff at The Ellis Hotel makes the stay there memorable. They are so friendly, professional and personable. It is the case that they go over and above to make the guests feel welcome and part of their family. When we pulled up to the hotel no one was there to assist with valet parking, so we parked in a parking deck which cost us 32.00 for 9 hours, we walked in the cold/rain to the hotel. Even though I booked though Expedia I was still required to put down a 50 deposit "hold" on my credit card. We had to use our room key to work the elevator which took 2 […] trips up and down to get to the 3rd floor. The remote to the TV did not work. There was no complementary breakfast only a buffet at 14 or menu options for $6.00 for 2 strips of bacon...with a $2.00 charge for bottled water in the rooms. Was also told that vending was on the 11th floor, got there and there was a drink machine and the sign said snack vending was on the 3rd floor, got there and the sign said look for the machine in the business ctr, looked and no machine. Very disappointed and will not ever visit again! Wish I could get my money back!!!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Stay somewhere else!!"
The reviews I saw on this hotel were misleading. I sincerely question the validity of those reviews. This is at best a tourist level hotel. The interior of the hotel is very dated. The rooms are dated, old coffer maker, inadequate work space, old cabinets, etc. The lobby is cramped. Old elevators. The WORSE is that the wireless internet is basically […] non-functional. One out of every 10 searches would go thru. Otherwise the internet would just lock up. IT'S INEXCUSABLE THAT THIS HOTEL HAS NOT INSTALLED A BETTER SYSTEM AS MANY PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF RELY UPON ACCESSIBLE INTERNTET SERVICES. For the price charged at this hotel, I could have stayed at one of the neighboring Hiltons, Hyatt, Marriott, etc. and had a much better experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth the price"
Valet never showed up to park our car. We had to keep circling the block waiting for them to show. Ended up paying $32 for over night parking. Went to the restaurant for a drink, decided to share an order of truffle fries with "hair". And our floor had trash overflowing in the hallway.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Graduation one night stay..."
Hotel was easy to find, but a lot of construction around it. The staff was more than friendly and very professional. Bistro looked nice, but I arrived so late i did not partake. Room was smallish, but large enough for just me. Bed felt great and lots of pillows. However, I was on the 9th floor and was woken by police and ambulances 3 times that night. […] Given I do live in a country-ish area and am not use to these noises so they might not bother others. Overall it was a great place. Would stay there again if I have to go back. Nice hotel with a nice room and a good downtown location. The only downside is that each floor is so small you can hear everything. We were woken up twice during the middle of night once by someone knocking on the room next door and the second time by tons of voices in the hallway--- probably just from people getting off the elevator.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was small and I would not likely book a room there in the future if I had to a longer stay in the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not quite what I expected."
This is a pretty decent hotel, but was MUCH smaller than I thought. The staff was a bit informal, and I wasn't initially impressed with their customer service. Our room was tiny, even for a single-bed room and the parking is in a garage one block away. When we departed in the early morning, there was no parking attendant or working machine to let us […] out of the garage. I had to enlist the help of three strangers to help get my four-door pick up over the curb and around the automated gate. Huge pain-in-the-butt! I have stayed at the Lowes Hotel and Hyatt Regency nearby and would stay at either one instead. Nothing particularly outstanding about this hotel (in my experience). Hotel is very conveniently located near the peachtree marta station. So if you are looking for a night's stay close to the airport, this is perfect. Staff is friendly, some good eating places close by but not alot. World of Coca Cola is close by as well. As with many other down towns, this one has loads of homeless folks roaming around which is probably […] the only down point. Rooms are fairly standard but bathrooms were done recently and were in stark contrast to the rooms (in a good way). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Valet Parking Only"
When we called to ask about parking was told they had valet parking for $25, or we could park in deck behind building. Deck is actually about 2 blocks away. Not a big deal, but it cost $40 overnight. I wish someone from The Ellis would have told us this. They have bottled water in the room sitting on desk. There is a small sign behind water stating […] they inventory it daily and it cost $2 plus tax. I hate getting nickle and dimed to death when I have already spent a lot for the room. Room was ok, but not worth the money at any stretch. I would look elsewhere first. A lot of construction around hotel for Atlanta streetcar project. It really was a hassle getting in and out of the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"new years eve"
Parking was terrible due to all the detours. Room was really small and they charged for everything. Bottled water, robes, etc. Not impressed for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed at the Ellis several times and always had a great experience. Stayed here with my wife for a New Years Eve getaway to enjoy a concert at Philips arena. I used to live at the Twelve hotel and I am very familiar with the area. We picked the Ellis because of the smaller feel to it, which we like a lot. My problem during this trip was with […] the front desk. Our lock on our door never would register our keys. The desk, instead of getting us a new room, or a maintenance person, would just keep registering new keys. NONE of the keys ever worked. We had to be escorted to our room each time we entered. I continuously asked for the lock to be repaired and it never did. This was a major problem as we would come and go many times over our stay. The desk would just print us new keys every time we entered and they would never open the door. So frustrating when having to wait for the slow elevators due to the capacity of the hotel. By the end of our stay, they had made a total of 15 keys for our room. None of them ever worked. For $275 a night I could have walked across the street to the Ritz and had a much better experience. Upon checkout I asked to speak to the manager and was never able to contact him/her. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
