usually we book hotels by the airport when we go to Calgary but this hotel was priced unusually low for the rates that day so we decided to book it on a whim..I am so glad we took that leap of faith..beautiful room - very spacious..and what luxury to have such a nice balcony..wall mounted Screen (not those old bulky tv's) and nice king sized bed...room was clean and hotel had nice treats like apples in a bowl and coffee available in the front lobby. Plenty of parking...worth every penny and the drive. Will definitely stay again!

I stayed at the hotel because I needed to catch a flight the next morning and it had a shuttle to the airport that was free and on time . Contenential break fast was pretty good room was clean, big and had every thing I needed staff was great I would stay there again !

"Calgary 5"
The front office girl was the most rude and unprofessional person I've met ,in her position. The general manager was aggressive and rude,didn't listen and used threatening behavior. Housekeeping were helpful and efficient,restaurant was ok.Fitness centre/sauna closed. "Poor time"
No heat in my room. Was -30 outside. Horrible beds. I had a suite and even wouldnt even work.
This hotel is correct, convenient location, clean, good bed. I stayed there a couple of time. this time I didn't like the fact that housekeeping kept waked me up (8.30am, 10am - I was very tired and needed to sleep) especially when check out is at 11am.
"5Calgary-World Jr Hockey"
The hotel is convieniently located downtown and close to C train and buses. The rooms were clean. They could use better lighting in the rooms. The kitchen was clean and stocked with the essentials for cooking. the fridge was full size, thanks. The staff was always courteous. The TVs could be upgraded sometime. We would stay here again.

"Good Value, but not fancy"
Five has a great location, a small but adequate kitchen and has complimentary parking, but is dated. If you are looking for something plain Jane, but pleasant, this may be it.
"Five Calgary Downtown Hotel"
Location is Downtown...but the heater in our room we couldnt adjust and it vibrated and made noises all night. The TV signal was horrific and the movies to rent were 16.99!!!! The restaurant downstairs had a water line that broke so it stunk like mold and water in the lobby. This hotel was like being in an Alfred Hitchcock movie!!!

"two nights"
Stayed two nights at this hotel. This hotel is in need of a serious upgrade. Most of the furniture, tv's etc are at least 20 years old. The kitchen fridge and stove probably date back to the 1960's. "Needs updating very badly"
This hotel needs updating very badly. The rooms are very outdated. The ventilation is terrible. The room was very very stuffy. It was not worth the price.

"Good location and good kitchen"
The room was spacious. Kitchen had glasses, plates, some cooking wears - it was decent. The bed cover was white, and it looked and felt clean. But the carpet was worn out and didn't look or feel clean. The washroom also looked rather dated (although clean and functional). Overall, if you are going to stay long and don't care so much about comfort […] but only function, it's good. We were there for a vacation, and for that, it wasn't the best hotel you can stay. Older hotel and rooms are older, but clean & comfortable. Parking is a bit awkward because you have to come down a narrow and dark staircase and you wonder if you're going to be mugged. Hotel should clean that up and repaint so it doesnt look so grubby. Otherwise, the stay at the hotel was fine. Be prepared for an older room with older TV. Room was very clean. Having a seperate room was nice. The beds were old and not very comfortable. Hotel staff was very nice. Food in the restaurant was okay, but overpriced and slow.

"5 Inn & Suites right downtown"
Hotel is older and in need of some upgrades. Rooms were clean; hotel staff was friendly. Restaurant food was good but a bit pricey.
"Great value for a family stay in downtown Calgary!"
We were very pleased with everything in the hotel and our suite, given the daily rate. Our only problem was unclean sheets on the sofa bed. The Manager did not return our first phone call, but when the cleaning staff came in, they did change the sheets when we asked.
"A tired hotel but at a resasonable price."
For the price, the hotel was reasonably clean, and service was reasonable, but this hotel did not shine in any area. - Got a 2 BR suite which was really a 1BR with a bed in the living room too. - The Airconditioning was so loud it was unrelaxing being in the room when it run. - The doors to the bed room, bathroom, and closet were all no longer fitting […] right and would stick on the frame meaning you had to give them a good shove to open or close, and it was noisy. - TV sets are from the 80s I think -Pots and pans in the cupboard were dirty! (mold on one) - The air vent in the bathroom was caked with dust - There were a few notable signs of wear on the walls and edges of carpet. - Kitchenette was very dated - Bathroom had a wooden cover above the shower head (to fix a leak I assume from the floor above) - visible damage was very minimal but there none the less. - I had to get a new parking pass almost every day for one reason or another (lake of communication the first couple days, then an early expiry another day) - Elevators are tiny The price was fair, the location decent, the bed comforatable and the service ok so despite all the above, I would consider this place in the future if I was tying to save money - otherwise I would spend an extra $20-30/night and gat far far better elsewhere nearby. I was quite surprised by the room, since it was basically a fully furnished and stocked apartment with an extra bed instead of a couch. Have he full kitchen was pretty neat and having the closed off bedroom was a nice touch. All the staff I dealt with were pleasant and helpful. The location was very good since I was just walking or using public transport, […] we were only a few blocks from the train to the zoo and other things, and there was a bus that left right outside the hotel that got us to the airport. parking is not FREE at calgary maybe if i had known this i would have stayed at different hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room comfortable but dated. Suited our needs perfectly.
Unfortunatly our stay with the five was not so good. We stayed on the smoking floor, and it was the last one to be renovated, so looked nothing like the pictures online, more like a 70's apartment right out of the bad part of town. Light bulbs were burnt out, and when called to ask for them fixed, a man came up and handed me new bulbs for me to change […] myself. The front deskman recomended 2 resturants and guarenteed then would be open that late on a sunday, after walking to one it was closed, and the other one was the worst chineese i have ever eaten. It is a good hotel for the price. The carpet are little old, but are OK. Linens are very clean. Staffs are very friendly. Location is really good , but signage (name ofd hotel) has to be visible. Overall it is a verygood hotel with price.

"High 5 for 5 Calgary"
If youre wanting a nice, clean, reasonable suite style Hotel in the Downtown area, than this is it. Its a short walk to all that Calgary has to offer in its hub, as well to the C train platform for an easy commute to the outer areas. My room had a comfy Queen bed and a kitchenette, which would have been useful had i been there for Stampede Week and […] wanted to make some of my own meals. The only drawback I saw was that the Pool didnt open until 10 am on Sunday, which for me meant no early morning swim before checking out and hitting the road back home. The FItness Room had some modern equipment, including a treadmill and some free weights. All in all, a great hotel in a beautiful city at an affordable cost too which for most people including me is very important these days. I would stay here again on another visit to Calgary. Read more
Our bedroom was quite small and had no air conditioning in the room. There was an AC in another room but it had little effect on the bedroom area. The sheets did not fit the bed. The bed was not that comfortable. We would not stay here again.

"Great Value"
Older hotel, but in good shape and perfectly clean. This hotel was GREAT value. We were able to stay in downtown Calgary during Stampede weekend, for a VERY reasonable price. We were super happy with the place.
"Good deal"
Not a deluxe hotel, but a comfortable and very reasonably priced one. It was nice that parking was included. The staff was very accommodating, the breakfast buffet had a good selection of fresh fruit, and the suite itself, while somewhat dated, had everything that was needed. My only complaint was that the pool and fitness room did not open until 10 […] am - about three hours too late. Also the TV remote didn't work. Otherwise: highly recommended. Read more

The staff was very plesant and was very nice to hear the front desk people say good morning I never had that kind of expereience with any hotels i stayed in the past and when we checked in they greet us with a smile and are stay very comfortable. Housekeeping was great aswell if you didn't want your room clean rightaway they come back a later time for […] your convenice and they a great job and they make sure everything is well stocked I definatly would recommend this hotel to my friends whoever goes to Calgary. Although the condition of the hotel is out dated, we enjoyed our room very much. The suite was spacious, included a full kitchen and was so very nicely located near to the C-Train. We had forgotten some medication at home and were able to easily find the Shoppers Drug Mart near by to refill our perscription.
