A former Embassy Suite now a time share condo. They try aggressively right at check-in to get you to go to a 4 hour sales pitch and are pretty snippy if you don't comply. Since not really a hotel, no room service and the one restaurant is really a glorified bar and grill with limited menu. As a time share for a family it's probably a great bargain. […] Just bring a can of Febreeze to frequently spray the carpet and furniture as the musty smells are thick and persistent. Also, this location is technically north of Kaanapalli and there is really no beach front except a few yards wide at lowest tide. I expected an ocean view an paid for the upgrade. It was a peakaboo view. Our Lanai was45 degree angle to the next one. No privacy whatsoever. I thought we would have an ocean view. Instead we a great view of a hotel that has an ocean view. The infuriating fact is the hotel was not full up...however this is a timeshare property... Our stay started out rocky-- we booked 2 deluxe ocean view suites and upon checking in were handed breakfast vouchers and told that all the ocean view suites were booked and we'd get "scenic" rooms overlooking the shopping center. My husband insisted on speaking to management. After an hour of waiting we got 2nd floor suites on the side of the hotel […] with a partial view of the beach. My brother had the same issue. They were moved to a 12th floor suite with 180 degree ocean views on their second day. So while all ended up okay, it was a frustrating start to the trip. The rooms are grea-- updated with nice furniture and appliances. The kitchen has a coffee maker, toaster, blender, and plenty of dishes. The bathrooms are huge. Everything worked well and we were very comfortable. The pool was perfect for our family. There were tons of comfy loungers. Our older kids had tons of room to play. The water was warm and comfortable for our little ones. The only thing I wish they had was a shallow pool for little kids-- the minimum water depth is 3.5 feet. We liked that you could walk right from the pool to the beach, but it's not the best swimming beach. Not much sand. There are lots of big rocks. The waves and undertow are strong there. We just assumed from photos that it would be better and more family-friendly. Bonuses-- parking is easy. Laundry is FREE. Staff was friendly. It's a quick walk to the grocery store. Beautiful & confortable suite. Greeted whem we arrived. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only negative is the beach behind the hotel was quite rocky. We went down the street and it was sandy. Could be an issue if you planned to swim in the ocean daily. Nice pool, but we went to Hawaii for the beaches.

Our one bedroom suite was very spacios and clean. The bath room is huge. Has 2 sinks and a shoeer and a bath tub. Living room, dinning room and a good size kitchen. Just be aware that there is no stove, but a microwave and electric skilette and coffemaker All essential dishes and coockware are there too. Eaver other floor has a laundry room which is […] free. Room provides detergents for free. The other plus was that beach towels were also provided. Pool area is very clean and eady to access. Nice activity centre for kids, with PingPong table, bowling lane and minuature gulf. The higher floors are renovated and have newer furnture, but overall i think there is not a huge difference. Just make sure if you are in lower lavels, you are not facing the parking. That won't have a nice view! Our friends got that but hotel agreed to move them to higher floor with ocean . We had 3 rooms in total, and we pleasently enjoyed our stay. The beach is not too busy but has rocks at some area. So you should have beach footware. Generally the Kaanapali beach is windy, great for surffing and snorkling, but for swimming in the ocean it is better to go to south side of Maui, like Kihei. Location is good too. There is a shooping plazza just 10 mins walk and 10 mins drive to beautiful Lahina harbour, and 5 mins drive to whalers village, which is great for dinning and shopping. Read more

Overall great setting, but very expensive. Now that we have been there, we have seen other places right on the beach nearby that are cheaper with rooms facing directly on the ocean. When we first checked in, we were required to attend a face to face meeting with a person who pressured us to sign up for various activities that they had connections with […] such as snorkel tours, helicopter tours, guided trips around to Hana, luaus, etc.. Then she told us we needed to attend a 90 min. seminar to learn about buying into the Diamond Resort timeshare program and would receive a free breakfast. We kept insisting we wanted to find our own way around the island and didn't want to buy into a timeshare. She then became less friendly and let us go. I have stayed in this hotel twice in 2012. Both times the hotel was beautiful, the staff friendly and very helpful, and the location and amenities very convenient. Stayed here in 2008 and was wonderful and wife wanted to return. We rebooked for honeymoon this year. Overall property is very nice and maintained. The issue we had upon check in was our first room smelled so bad of mildew and mold we had to switch rooms. The second was better but even running the air full at 69 all week when ever you would enter the […] room it would have a mildew musty smell. Being in the industry of hotels I think the carpets need to be changed as the rooms seem to hold dampness. I would stay here again but would want to be ensured this issue is addressed. Great Location and ease to Kaanapali and Lahaina. Avoid the time share scam and you will have a great time there. Also furnture is showing wear but this is very easily corrected with a good handyman. Smell of the room is what this time is leaving the impression. Went to Oahu for 4 days after 8 here and when entered the room first thing my wife said was wow it smells clean and fresh. A little rough start. We ordered an ocean view and we were originally assigned a room with barely an ocean view (low and over valet pkg view). Manager did not help us get a different room but a staff finally person did. Manager was very "fake friendly, very annoying". This was the only bad part of the stay, the rest was. We will never go back to this hotel for sure. First, we asked for a king bed but they gave us 2 standard bed instead. We had to move our stuff in the middle of the night since we got there late. Second, discrimination of guests. We were next in line at the front desk then instead of calling us next, the receptionist called for the older caucasian couple […] who were not even in line instead. How rude! At the restaurant, they had us waiting for 10 mins then a caucasian family arrived. One of the waiters attended to them right away. Ah hello - we were there first. When I told them, they weren't event apologetic. Lastly, after we checked out, I realized that they've taken $250 from my credit card without explanation. I called them and they said, it was for a some sort of"holding fee." Whatever that means. I had to escalate it to the receptionist manager's manager for them to clear that from my account and what did I get? They asked me to call my bank. Unbelievable! The KBC was quite clean. It may not be the most modern, but my wife and I enjoyed the friendly staff. Valet, parking, and internet is $25 per day which is the norm at many other places minus the valet. They do not have wirless internet in the rooms, but only in the lobby. I would recommend walking to Duke's to eat as the atmosphere and food is marvelous!!! […] Prices were awesome for the quality and taste of food. Duke's is located 3 hotels south of KBC at the beach behind Honua Kai Resort. The hotel is family friendly and as for honeymooners like ourselves, a great little place. Very peaceful and I believe the best bang for the buck. Every room comes with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, plates, cups, etc. (no stove though). The pool is gigantic and not too crowded, but the spa is way too small. I would definitely suggest a rental car as it's a necessity to travel to various activities. This is a time share hotel so they would like to give you a presentation and we took it up as it helped us save on our activities such as our luau, snorkeling to Molokini, the sunrise at Haleakala and the bike ride down the volcano. They take about 40 to 50% off these activities if you sign up and attend the presentation. We did so, but did not sign up for the time share. But we did save about $250 by attending the presentation and we even got some free souvenirs! My wife and I were extremely please with KCB. Read more
