"Location + in-room kitchen = great spot"
This is the second time I stayed here, love it. I like going to Ala Moana beach because it is not as crowded as Waikiki, and it is a short walk. Love the kitchen in the room, for people who don't want all the fat and salt served at restaurants, for every meal, the kitchen is a huge plus. The Ilikai will be the first place I look on a return trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai We are fortunate to offer our guests and owners with a fully equipped kitchen. Dining out in Waikiki takes a toll on your budget. Ala Moana beach access is an incredible asset as well. See you next time. Mahalo, Barrett Winning Resort Manager
"Great hotel convenient to nearly everything."
Beautiful entryway with cheerful attentive bellman who greeted us immediately upon our arrival! We were delighted to find that locating the office and getting to our room was quickly done. Our room was on the 13th floor with a city view that delighted! We had a balcony that faced the east. There were room darkening draperies to use if we'd wanted to, […] but we allowed some of the delightful morning sun to gently awaken us each morning. We enjoyed our freshly made coffee on the balcony each morning while we planned our day. Our bed was very comfortable. Our kitchen was fully equipped: microwave, oven, cooktop, silverware, cups and even dish soap! There were even ice cube trays in freezer of fridge! Iron board and iron and blowdryer were provided as well. Extra complimentary coffee available in office. Be sure to get a list of the buses that serve the Waikiki area; it was useful. We would definitely return, and although I'd like to see other islands, I might want to just come back here! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel was terrific. Friendly staff and great location. Room was nice and big. Bonus to have the sleeper sofa. Only drawback was the air conditioner. Room was always a little on the warm side. Would have liked the air conditioner to get the room a little cooler, especially for sleeping.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai Awesome to hear we provided you with a great stay. Disappointing to hear your AC was not cooling properly as they are designed to go as low as 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Perhaps there was an issue with the energy saving device that requires a key card activation. Aloha, Barrett Winning Resort Manager
I realize that paying just over 200 hundred dollars a night for a room on waikiki beach is not a lot I suppose, but I still expect some basic amenities like hot water. We did not have hot water 3 out of our 7 days at this hotel. The hotel did nothing to compensate us or expedite the situation. Good location descent rooms no daily room service as we […] were in the time share portion of hotel. Would have been a better time with a consistent ability to have a hot shower. Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai We're sorry to hear you experienced some difficulties with water temperatures during your stay. "Very Pleasant Stay"
This is a huge three wings facility managed by different companies. The facility is also part of timeshare resort, so you do get solicited for that sales pitch, but you don’t have to go to it. The Junior Suite is great, large room with a sofa bed, that is perfect for a family without feeling crowded. The kitchen is nice with a lot of dishes and cups […] for a week long stay. Although the cleaning is only done once every 4 days, they provided extra towels and sheets and you can always ask for additional shampoo if needed. The free WIFI is definitely a great thing. The lobby and the lounge/bar back along the marina is pleasant to spend time. Location is great, you can walk to the mall, and the famous Hilton Village, which is the stop for a lot of pick ups or sailing pier, is right next door. We rented a car and parked at the next door parking lot for $20 per day, cheaper than the valet parking at the hotel. We didn’t know parking would be so expensive in Honolulu. Overall we enjoyed Honolulu and the hotel very much. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

All the people at the hotel were very friendly. Don't get stuck listening to time share people, they aren't so nice when you say no. Handy to have small kitchen and the rooms were good size. Very noisy on the city side. Overall was good.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect Family Stay, Amazing Staff"
I traveled with my 62 y/o disabled father & my 2 toddlers. The Waikiki Marina Resort was PERFECT for our stay. The staff was more than pleasant, they were always helpful and very nice, even standing up every time we entered the Front Desk suite, and even the Housekeeping staff would say hello to us in the halls if we walked by and ask us if we needed […] anything. The room was comfortable, the TV outdated but given that we were in Hawaii, we didn't really use the TV much anyway. The hotel itself was perfectly situated at the West end of the busy Waikiki area and great for families (not too hectic with party-goers or drinkers) and right next to the Hilton's Lagoon and shopping village. If we're lucky enough to go to Honolulu again, we will definitely stay at the Waikiki Marina for sure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Mixing Buisness & Travel"
I have stayed here 5 times in the past decade because of the small suite setup works great for preparing in-room breakfest and lunches and its easy access in my number one factor in selection. Most room have nice views and walking distance to all in Waikiki. No need to drive thru Waikiki and add another half hour to your commute, if you have buisness […] elsewhere. They no longer have their large pool, I think they sold it to the adjacent "Modern Hotel" which used to be part of the Ilikai complex. They still have the small pool but it is crowded and more typical of a motel pool. The rooms are keep in overall good condition, one exception being the mattress for the pullout couch is in such poor shape that you would be better off sleeping on the floor. We placed the rooms extra blankets between the matress pad and matress for the kids to tollerate the coil springs. Hotel staff are always excellent and our package included tip for bellman both ways - a pleasent surprise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"llikai at the Marina"
Three girl friends spent 3 days in Honolulu, all for the first time. There is a separate hotel wing that is a true hotel with a lobby and around the clock staff, this part that we were in is operated by the timeshare operator, hotel staff only present during office hour, which is not a problem; many of the units you can probably find even better deals […] by going to the "for rent by owner" of various website. The unit has a full kitchen which makes it convenient for having breakfast and storing cold drinks, with a pull out sofa bed it was sufficient for 3 people, there is a balcony for all units, however we got the two streets view so it was a bit noisy. The location is at the very end of the Waikiki strip, but it is definitely convenient enough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Place for Vacation!"
It was everything I needed. I loved having a full kitchen. Although I didn't cook while there I did have the option. I was able to stock my fridge with beverages and snacks. Also having a living room made it even better not having to always be "in bed" to watch a movie or just read. At check in, I was greeted warmly and felt the Aloha Spirit from all […] involved. "Tough to Rate - Good Price"
This hotel is on the edge of Waikiki Beach next to the Marina, an excellent location. The hotel was built in the 1960's and it isn't hard to tell. The Marina Resort is a timeshare company holding rooms at the Ilikai Hotel (Shell Vacation Group). I liked the hotel, the hotel staff, and it appeared that the hotel management was really trying to breath […] new life into the place. The condo owners and timeshare staff seemed more interested in just keeping the place booked. The rooms (managed by the Marina Resort) are outdated and poorly maintained. On the surface they seemed clean. Deep down the cleaning was unacceptable. The Resort staff were very helpful in making reservations and assisting me with my trip; however, they recommended many activities that had horrible online reviews insisting they were the best. In all accounts, the online reviews were right. Additionally, they made many mistakes in my bookings which were costly to me. I did not choose to attend the timeshare presentation which provides you with activity credit. Also no housekeeping, just towel and trash service. If you are looking for a low-cost room, no frills room, at the center of the action and beach, this is a great choice. If you want an actual Resort or a real hotel experience, book through the actual Hotel Ilikai or another Resort. The Ilikai is not a good family location, it is better for mature travelers or parents with small kids. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel near the Marina."
A very nice hotel near the beach. The room was clean, a little out of date but was very accommodating. We were busy every day exploring that this room was nice to come back to. We had the Jr. Lanai suite with a mini kitchen so we were able to cook our breakfast everyday. Close walk to the main strip and even took "The Bus" to Leonard's Bakery for their […] famous malasadas. hotel was good but the room upgrade policy is horrible. I've stayed at hotels that would offer complimentary upgrade but this one was not one of them and also they strictly want you to be out at exactly 10am even when I asked them for extra 1 hour. parking was so expensive ib paid $28 a day for the parking which was more than a rent of the car by 5 […] 0%. Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai While we appreciated hearing your beneficial feedback, I am disappointed to discover that we did not fully exceed your expectations. Your comment about being a “good hotel close to the beach” is noted. Kindly accept our apologies for not being able to provide you with a complimentary suite upgrade or free late checkout. Thankfully our 123-unit Waikiki vacation ownership resort runs at a very high occupancy year round. Unfortunately this prevents us from operating like a lower occupancy hotel which offers much flexibility with inventory not needed to be cleaned on a daily basis. Our Elite Shell Vacations owners occupy the majority of our partial ocean view studios based upon their timeshare loyalty. Typically, overnight valet parking costs in Waikiki range from $25-$40/day. The fact that we do not charge a mandatory resort fee like many comparable properties is a significant savings for our guests as well. "Room 1911 was below expectation"
Location-wise, it was good - right on the beach, and relatively close to things, and a few blocks from the vibrant main Waikiki district. The most turned off for me is that door opens to the balcony is molded (see photos), and the toaster wasn't working - you have to hold down the knob. The TV was small which would've being OK if it was constrained […] inside an armor/TV box which limits you from where you can watch TV. It has one small pool which I didn't bother to use . "Close to the beach and lagoon"
Overall this was an excellent hotel very clean, close proximity to the beach and lagoon. Never left the room without hearing a "mahalo" or "aloha" from the exquisite staff. Always cabbies ready to give you a lift right outside the doors. Multiple entrances from any side of the hotel. The kitchenette was also a great amenity and we put it to good use […] which added to the great value of the overall stay. Car rentals and good bar directly across the street. The only issue I had with this hotel is the housekeeping service, nothing against the job that was done when they did manage to visit the room. I don't know if this is done in every hotel in Hawaii or only specifically to this hotel. The sheets in the suite are only changed one day a week. Not only are sheets not changed the bed is not made for you, your required to make you own bed. Don't get me wrong this isn't a huge task but it is a big deal. "Great place for families in Waikiki"
We had to be in Waikiki for a wedding. As 50 something year olds, this was not our choice destination, but we made the best of it. We enjoyed our time at the pool and the beach which is just a short walk outside beyond the lagoon. The place was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. It's not fancy but certainly has all the amenities necessary. Note […] to families: the kitchen is fully stocked with necessary things. Go to Costco (10 minute drive away) and get easy dinner/snack/beverage stuff. The price at Costco is the same everywhere so food/drink is reasonable. We bought some easy meals that just required baking/heating. Nice to eat out on the lanai, warm and relaxing.
