"llikai at the Marina"
Three girl friends spent 3 days in Honolulu, all for the first time. There is a separate hotel wing that is a true hotel with a lobby and around the clock staff, this part that we were in is operated by the timeshare operator, hotel staff only present during office hour, which is not a problem; many of the units you can probably find even better deals […] by going to the "for rent by owner" of various website. The unit has a full kitchen which makes it convenient for having breakfast and storing cold drinks, with a pull out sofa bed it was sufficient for 3 people, there is a balcony for all units, however we got the two streets view so it was a bit noisy. The location is at the very end of the Waikiki strip, but it is definitely convenient enough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I am so glad that we achieved our goal of delivering a great vacation experience. We look forward to your next visit. Best Regards, Barrett Winning Resort Manager
The room was very dated. The upholstery on the foot stool was completely shredded. There is house-keeping only oce a week. No room service of any kind. Will definitely not stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai Mahalo for your review. We apologize for providing you with what you consider to be dated furnishings and a footstool in less than perfect condition. The property is being renovated in 2015 and we perform an extensive preventative maintenance program. Being an eco-conscious vacation ownership resort we do not provide daily housekeeping service, unless requested. Instead we preserve resources by providing service every 4th day. Please advise our Guest Services staff what your cleaning needs are during your next stay with us. This will ensure that we better meet and exceed your expectations. "Great Place for Vacation!"
It was everything I needed. I loved having a full kitchen. Although I didn't cook while there I did have the option. I was able to stock my fridge with beverages and snacks. Also having a living room made it even better not having to always be "in bed" to watch a movie or just read. At check in, I was greeted warmly and felt the Aloha Spirit from all […] involved. Being there on a Friday night was a bonus, Hawaiian music and fireworks! Being a female staying alone I at no time felt concerned for my safety. All staff that I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and will stay here again soon. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Tough to Rate - Good Price"
This hotel is on the edge of Waikiki Beach next to the Marina, an excellent location. The hotel was built in the 1960's and it isn't hard to tell. The Marina Resort is a timeshare company holding rooms at the Ilikai Hotel (Shell Vacation Group). I liked the hotel, the hotel staff, and it appeared that the hotel management was really trying to breath […] new life into the place. The condo owners and timeshare staff seemed more interested in just keeping the place booked. The rooms (managed by the Marina Resort) are outdated and poorly maintained. On the surface they seemed clean. Deep down the cleaning was unacceptable. The Resort staff were very helpful in making reservations and assisting me with my trip; however, they recommended many activities that had horrible online reviews insisting they were the best. In all accounts, the online reviews were right. Additionally, they made many mistakes in my bookings which were costly to me. I did not choose to attend the timeshare presentation which provides you with activity credit. Also no housekeeping, just towel and trash service. If you are looking for a low-cost room, no frills room, at the center of the action and beach, this is a great choice. If you want an actual Resort or a real hotel experience, book through the actual Hotel Ilikai or another Resort. The Ilikai is not a good family location, it is better for mature travelers or parents with small kids. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you did not have a fantastic overall experience as most of our guests do. I have shared your comments with our Concierge partners as well as our third party hotel-managed Housekeeping team. We are looking forward to an upcoming rooms remodel. I am glad to hear that you recognized our superior value as we are a near beach suite-only property with full kitchens and no resort fees. The 50 year old mixed use Ilikai building is a legendary tower consisting mostly of private condos. Housekeeping for our units is provided every 4th day unless otherwise requested as part of our company's greening efforts. Your candid comments are beneficial and we look forward to serving you again. Best Wishes, Barrett Winning Resort Manager
"Like the easy access to the beach and pool"
This was a Honeymoon and a badly needed vacation away. Good walks to the beach, downtown, to the parks and just plain sleep if we wanted. For a couple of 60 year olds it was Great!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel near the Marina."
A very nice hotel near the beach. The room was clean, a little out of date but was very accommodating. We were busy every day exploring that this room was nice to come back to. We had the Jr. Lanai suite with a mini kitchen so we were able to cook our breakfast everyday. Close walk to the main strip and even took "The Bus" to Leonard's Bakery for their […] famous malasadas. We were right next door to the Hilton's Hawaiian Village to enjoy their fireworks on Tuesdays and Fridays. Lots of shops close by. We enjoyed this hotel very much. We would go back again. Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai Mahalo for your review! It is rewarding to hear that you had a delightful stay and found your suite to be clean and convenient. Our access to the bus, the shops, and all the wonders of Waikiki comes in handy. The complimentary fireworks extravaganza is just another perk for our guests every Friday night as they no longer do a Tuesday night show. See you next time. "close to the beach"
hotel was good but the room upgrade policy is horrible. I've stayed at hotels that would offer complimentary upgrade but this one was not one of them and also they strictly want you to be out at exactly 10am even when I asked them for extra 1 hour. parking was so expensive ib paid $28 a day for the parking which was more than a rent of the car by 5 […] 0%. Response by Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai While we appreciated hearing your beneficial feedback, I am disappointed to discover that we did not fully exceed your expectations. Your comment about being a “good hotel close to the beach” is noted. Kindly accept our apologies for not being able to provide you with a complimentary suite upgrade or free late checkout. Thankfully our 123-unit Waikiki vacation ownership resort runs at a very high occupancy year round. Unfortunately this prevents us from operating like a lower occupancy hotel which offers much flexibility with inventory not needed to be cleaned on a daily basis. Our Elite Shell Vacations owners occupy the majority of our partial ocean view studios based upon their timeshare loyalty. Typically, overnight valet parking costs in Waikiki range from $25-$40/day. The fact that we do not charge a mandatory resort fee like many comparable properties is a significant savings for our guests as well. It was a pleasure having you as our guests and we hope to serve you again. Respectfully, Barrett Winning Resort Manager
"Nice Hotel for Families"
Nice hotel for families. We loved that it had a full kitchenette in the room. It really helped keep the price of food more reasonable. Nice older hotel in good shape. If we had it to do over again we would have stayed further up Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Room 1911 was below expectation"
Location-wise, it was good - right on the beach, and relatively close to things, and a few blocks from the vibrant main Waikiki district. The most turned off for me is that door opens to the balcony is molded (see photos), and the toaster wasn't working - you have to hold down the knob. The TV was small which would've being OK if it was constrained […] inside an armor/TV box which limits you from where you can watch TV. It has one small pool which I didn't bother to use . I ended up checking out after 2 nights and went to rent a condo instead. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Please accept our sincere apologies for providing a suite in less than perfect condition and therefore failing to exceed your expectations. I have personally followed up with our Operations staff to ensure prompt correction of the discrepancies you mentioned. "Great value for Waikiki."
Great value for a last minute booking. Location and convenience in beautiful Waikiki at a beautiful landmark hotel. We had a wonderful stay and we definitely want to return. "Close to the beach and lagoon"
Overall this was an excellent hotel very clean, close proximity to the beach and lagoon. Never left the room without hearing a "mahalo" or "aloha" from the exquisite staff. Always cabbies ready to give you a lift right outside the doors. Multiple entrances from any side of the hotel. The kitchenette was also a great amenity and we put it to good use […] which added to the great value of the overall stay. Car rentals and good bar directly across the street. The only issue I had with this hotel is the housekeeping service, nothing against the job that was done when they did manage to visit the room. I don't know if this is done in every hotel in Hawaii or only specifically to this hotel. The sheets in the suite are only changed one day a week. Not only are sheets not changed the bed is not made for you, your required to make you own bed. Don't get me wrong this isn't a huge task but it is a big deal. A vacation in my eyes is made for pampering and picking up my room is not something I expected to be doing.... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"The location is good the rest will need some work"
Most of the studios in the building are sold for timeshare... Those few left are offered on Expedia as a "hotel". My wife and I found this hotel online at the last minute and could not be happier with our choice. "Great place for families in Waikiki"
We had to be in Waikiki for a wedding. As 50 something year olds, this was not our choice destination, but we made the best of it. We enjoyed our time at the pool and the beach which is just a short walk outside beyond the lagoon. The place was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. It's not fancy but certainly has all the amenities necessary. Note […] to families: the kitchen is fully stocked with necessary things. Go to Costco (10 minute drive away) and get easy dinner/snack/beverage stuff. The price at Costco is the same everywhere so food/drink is reasonable. We bought some easy meals that just required baking/heating. Nice to eat out on the lanai, warm and relaxing. Love that there are bins under sink for recycling cans, bottles, etc. Happy to be on the 3rd floor so didn't feel we were constantly in the elevator. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very limited Partial ocean view"
We could not get partial ocean view till the last night, but the city view side even higher floor (16th), we heard noise from the street, as the glass window might be very old and not good for sound proof. "Ok for a place to sleep"
It was not clear when we booked the stay that we would be in the Ilikai Hotel but that the Waikiki Marina Resort is separate and seeks time share owners. They tried to talk us into acquiring certificates that could be used as money during our stay if we listened to a sales pitch. Ugh. The toaster did not work. The "free internet connection" was the […] worst of any hotel anywhere in the world either my wife and I have stayed (together or separately). We had to call a special number to talk to the front desk that had limited hours and located on the 2nd floor of the Ilikai. At checkin we were told that the room would be cleaned only on Wednesday (and when we checked out, of course) and towels supplied any any time. "Great place for a family or extended stay"
We loved staying at the Ilikai. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen so we did not have to eat out every meal. The hotel is located at the start of Waikiki so you are not in the heart of the action but you are close to the beach […] and there is a pool so for our family we had all we needed. There is a huge mall about 15 - 20 minute walk from the hotel and a grocery store called Don Quixote which is less expensive than the ABC store across the street. Our room was on the street side so no wonderful view but it was pretty quiet and not a lot of street noise. Everyone in Hawaii is friendly and the staff at the hotel were no exception. "Hotel is timeshare"
This hotel is also a timeshare. Soon after our arrival, we were contacted by the concierge desk. We were invited to come pick-up some coupons for the local shops, restaurants, etc. The "quick" pick-up ended up turning into a long while. We ended up getting roped into a 90 min presentation on the timeshare if we wanted all these special discounts on […] things such as the rental car, luau, & so forth. Anyway, we ended up wasting half a day. If you are interested in a timeshare, it is a nice one. We use to belong to one years ago. We will buy again, but not at this time. Rollie was excellent!!! Reggie was excellent. Me and my family arrived earlier than check in, and our room was already cleaned and ready to receive us! The room was clean and we loved having the full kitchen. They gave us a room with a roll out bed(good quality) for my daughter, since there was only a pull out bed in addition to our king size bed..... […] Made the drama easy between the two kids.... The only draw back is that you have a 5 minute walk to the lagoon, and coming back you have to walk UP the ramp.... Besides this minor draw back, I have nothing to complain about. "Waikiki Rooms and Views"
The stay at the Waikiki Marina was well work the price. The employees were very helpful with any questions we had about tours and getting around. The pool was not very big and there was no hot tub, however, we had no use for it since were in the ocean or lagoon! We had the City view and mountain views. It was very pretty to see the rain clouds in the […] mornings come over with light rains. Very tropical! At night, the city view was nicer to look at than a dark ocean. The dinner meal at Sarentos (top of the hotel) was fantastic. The meal and service was very nice as it should for the price you are paying. For the three of us, wife and daughter, was around $200 (including desert, cocktails, tip). We managed to get arounf the area in taxis, bus, and shuttles. We rented a mid-size car for one day to go around the entire island. The Toyota Corolla only used less than 3 gallons! We took the eastern roads to get to North Shore and then south west to Waikiki. Snorkeling was one of the best things you can do in Hawaii especially if you have teenage kids or older. It was time well spent. Be aware that the shading at some areas is coveted like gold! Haunama Bay was not too crowded and we had shading but it was not quite peak season yet (1st Half of June). Overall, we had a great time. Look forward to going to Maui net year! Cheers! "Nice Hotel Close to Beach"
First of all, when getting a taxi from the airport, just say Ilikai Hotel! It's been around for 50 years, and cabbies know the location. If you say, Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai, you will likely be dropped off at the wrong location, as we were! The Ilikai is a nice older hotel that has been updated and is very comfortable. It is located several […] blocks from the heavy bustle of downtown, but less than a block from the beach. We had a lovely room with full kitchen, which made it great, and more cost effective for meals, and snacks. Foodland is a large supermarket only 3 to 4 blocks away, and the hotel has an adequate small store for incidentals. Getting around the city is pretty easy, with all the buses, and trolleys running from nearly the front of the hotel, and booking tours, and packages for shows, etc., was made quite painless as well! The rooms are older, but it is clean and very comfortable. And, if your like us, you wont be spending much time in the room anyway! Check out the lagoon, located at the Hilton, next door. Looked like a terrific place for families with small children! And for shopping, the mall is located in the same structure as the supermarket, just blocks away. We enjoyed our time at the Ilikai, but just a tip.... If your flying in from the eastern part of the US, make sure your stay is longer than a week! There is a six hour time difference, and the flights are l o n g, and it's tough to acclamate in just a week! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, not too pricy, good for family w/ toddler."
Very nice hotel, not the nicest. We enjoyed it's convenient location right next to the lagoon and the beach. We went to other places to eat for dinner, but having the full kitchen in the room was nice. We picked up some frozen meals and other groceries at walmart down the road and made them for lunches and breakfast. Plus we could pack lunches and take […] them while out sightseeing. More affordable and convenient than going out every meal. We have a 15 month old. This hotel does not provide a crib, but pack 'n plays are free to check at the airport, as it is a baby-related item. The bathroom was big enough to set up the pack n play in so he could nap and sleep in a separate room while we enjoyed eachother's company in the main room. We left it set up the whole time. Didn't have to break it down to use the restroom, sink or shower. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The Ilikai Hotel/Condo was perfect for us. Centrally located, it's within walking distance to all the stores and restaurants (as long as you don't mind doing a little walking) and having your own kitchen is always a plus. "Perfect location close to everything!"
Wonderful staff. Very clean. I would reccommend this hotel to anyoneGenuine Expedia guest review
I chose this hotel as I did not want to be right in the hustle & bustle of Waikiki. The fact that the $2.00 trolley tram stopped right outside was great, easy access to everywhere. The room we had faced the main road but the sliding door was quite heavy and managed to keep out a lot of the noise. One thing that we did find annoying was the fridge was […] extremely noisy when the motor kicked in to the point of waking us up sometimes. Also a minor point was the TV is fairly old, a flat screen larger one would be nice (noticed some in other rooms so may be a cost factor of the room0 not that there was much to watch on TV anyway, mostly for late evening. House keeping the first time was great but on another occasion the bed was left unmade and no refills of soap etc, again a minor point but being a 4**** hotel you expect a bit more. After staying on Maui and finding the resort staff very helpful, friendly and personal, The Waikiki seemed less personal as there is no front desk that you continually pass having said that the staff on the desk on the second floor were really helpful and nice if you had a problem. The pool again not as nice as Maui, a bit dated but still enjoyed lazing around it. Would have been nice to be able to get poolside service for food & drinks. Being set amongst the Marina was really nice, the downstairs Bar & Grill was pleasant for meals and drinks and was also a short walk to the beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Three hotels in one building. Very confusing, not knowing where to go for check-in. Do not go to the main desk, for Hotels. com. Concierge desks for at least 2 different businesses. Pass the buck here,... One sent me to the other and the other sent me to Valet for arrangements to the Airport. Not sure exactly how the bell man works for all 3. BUT..... […] other than all the confusion, with exactly who we were under..... The hotel was great, beautiful rooms. clean and the location was fantastic! On the beach, downtown shopping, Mall was close all kinds of Restaurants. The pool was lovely, however public smoking was just on the other side of the shrubs...... Don't sit next to shrubs. Valet parking was nice, but on the spendy side. There is other parking close unless you need curbside for handicap. Wonderful having a kitchen to cook in also.
