"DO NOT RENT HERE"
I booked a queen studio...the assumption was that I would have a queen bed and a fully functioning room. What I GOT was 2 very old very dilapitated twin beds shoved together with a sheet set holding them together. I also got a coat closet sized shower that drained so slowly that by the time you got done with your shower you were standing in ankle deep […] dirty water that took 15 minutes to drain. They stated that the maids came in daily and freshened up, did light cleaning...the only thing they did was change out the towels. Had this room not been pre-paid I would have checked out the minute I saw the room but unfortunately I was stuck in this awful room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"We loved the location. Very accessible to all."
We loved the condo. We were confused as we thought we had reserved a room at the Outrigger on the Reef. It was confusing that Waikiki Shores couldn't give us towels or anything because we were actually dealing with office support a block away. We would definitely book a stay at the Shores again. We had a couple of flying cockroaches the first day, but […] didn't see any after that. The bath tub backed up one afternoon. It drained in a few minutes but was gross. We did not like that housekeeping would just come into room with out announcing themselves and cleaned while we were on the balcony. Just not used to that type of housekeeping service. Condo had a wonderful view of the beach and sunsets. Walk out the door and onto the beach. Not too close to Waikiki, so less crowded. Easy walk or bus ride to everything . Loved the convenience. Would certainly return.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is the second time we have stayed here. I almost hate to give the hotel a glorious review, I want to be able to get a reservation when I want it! The location is terrific, right on the beach, with a great view of Fort Derussey park next door, and a great view of the fireworks on friday nights at Hilton Hawaiin Village. Easy to get to from the airport, […] and easy to exit to go explore the island. Lots to walk to, clean comfortable room. All you need at a reasonable price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
When I booked our trip to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, I thought, based on history, the Outrigger name would give me a great experience. Boy, I was wrong! When I checked in at the Outrigger on the Reef, I was told I was at the wrong hotel, but a bellman would be over shortly. We walked through the lobby of the Reef, to a service exit and […] made our way to the Outrigger Waikiki Shore...let's just say it's like going from a Nordstrom into a Kmart. Once we got to our room, I was MORTIFIED. The room smelled like old cheese and feet, the carpet was older than I am, and the bathtub...well, it's the size of my kitchen sink! I decided to let all of that go, and TRY to enjoy our stay. When I attempted to park my car myself, I was told self parking was no longer available for the week and I will have to pay the 35 dollar valet price. After the first night in the hotel, sleeping on a cement mattress and cinder block pillows, I decided I'd had enough. Nevermind the room I originally booked was supposed to be "Oceanside". Well, no. I had a "partial ocean view. I got to see a sliver of the ocean. I will NEVER book here, or any Outrigger property. I cancelled my reservation and moved to a different hotel for the remainder of our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great condo on the beach with amenities!"
We spent just 2 nights at this condo. It is a but confusing when you check in, because the Outrigger Reef is next to Waikiki Shore and neither is actually called the Outrigger Waikiki Shore. You check in at the Waikiki Shore and the bellman checks you in in the room. The location is excellent! Right on Waikiki Beach! We didn't rent a car in Waikiki […] and were glad we didn't have the hassle or extra cost. The rooms have everything you'd need with a full kitchen & personal washer/dryer. The walls are quite thin and the water pipes rattle when you or the neighbor showers, so it isn't a quiet place to stay (plus parties on the beach.) The pool, hot tub and fitness center are next door at the Outrigger Reef, which also has some good restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We shared this apartment on the 15th floor there were 5 of us - it is conveniently located right on a beach. It was very clean although a bit tired and could do with a bit of a spruce up i.e. new carpet and a coat of paint. Shower area also could do with a makeover. But for 5 of us to be together it was great (although sharing a bathroom with 5 isn't […] ideal!) It was lovely to watch the sunset and sit on the balcony with everyone. Staff replaced towels daily and collected rubbish bins daily also. The linen was changed once in the 6 days we were there which was fine. It was an ideal size for a family - although you would need to keep an eye on them with balcony. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good location. Bathroom a bit old style but clean and tidy as one would expect from a 3* hotel. Nice to have amenities like stove and washing machine when you are on a longer trip. The Outrigger Reef next door - they are supposed to be working along with the waikiki shore to - would not even answer simple questions without defering for us to call the other location. When we wanted to store suitcases - we were first told it was not possible by the Reef then instead of walking away with our dejected tails between our legs we pushed […] further to discover(as we were told by the Outrigger wiakiki shore) that we could store our suitcases.... Possibly the arrangement should be reviewed and the staff refreshed on the arrangement. It would have made us feel more welcome. As well the lady that was on staff in the lobby at the Waikiki shore was terrible. Before she even knew who we were she made us wait for her to get off the phone (an OBVIOUS personal call) with laughing and eating as she spoke. We were standing right in front of her. she made us wait ...... 15 min! Then after waving us in the direction of the phone we needed to use to call the Outrigger waikiki shore she called up someone else and started complaining about a staff memeber in front of us. She, although not staffed by the waikiki shore, does (unfortunately) give a guest thier first impression of the vacation. Her employer should know she has NO proffesionalism. BUT as far as the Outrigger Waikiki shore - AWESOME SERVICE - OVER THE PHONE, THE STAFF MEMBER THAT GREETED US - THE MAID SERVICE ETC. - might need to make the stove more presentable though.... "Staying in Waikiki - no better view !"
The view is just something you won't find anywhere else - particularly from the higher floors. Having a washing machine / dryer in the room with a small kitchen was a godsend, having just travelled across the mainland and needing to get some clean clothes organised. Coming home with a 'clean' suitcase was great too. As they always say ... location, […] location, location ... and my wife just loved the view!! Genuine Expedia guest review
Genuine Expedia guest review
Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Genuine Expedia guest review

Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My friend has two condos in the building and invited me to stay free in #908, the view, the location, the staff (special shout out to Steve) was perfect. The building is right on Waikiki beach not more than 50 ft from the water, many restuarants and shopping options within walking distance. Watched the Friday night fireworks from the room. Very helpful to have a washer and dryer in the unit, nice flat screen tv for late night and early morning. Shops on ground floor, also different food options on ground floor. Could not have asked for a more convient and perfect location. Highly recommend. Stayed from Feb 12 to Feb 27 and wish it was longer. Thanks again to Dan and Jeannie for being such gracious and generous hosts!!
"Waikiki Shore #1212"
03/01/15 John M Ballarat, Australia
This review is about room 1212 at Castle Shore or Waikiki Shore. We stayed in this room from Feb 21 to Feb 28 through Captain Cook Resort Rentals. The room is excellent, being recently renovated it is very clean and very easy to keep it that way during a stay. It has a full kitchen with all the amenities that you could expect plus a large washing machine and dryer in the bathroom. These amenities allow you to bring less clothing (you can wash daily) and have breakfast, lunch or dinner on the balcony in a more leisurely fashion which offsets the cost of the room. Staying on the 12th floor did shelter us from any noise below and the building fronts onto the beach and a park on the side. The photos are an accurate indication of what you get. The king bed was reasonably comfortable and the linen clean although I think that it could be a higher grade. Good quality towels and beach towels were provided. It is a studio apartment, so there is no wall between the bed and the living area, it looks spacious with the only drawback being the morning light shining through the kitchen window. There are no blinds on these, only opaque glass, so don't expect a dark room to have a sleep-in! The hotel is typical of the 60's era and it has direct access to the beach. Overall a very nice room with very good amenities.
"Waikiki Shore #918 - Nicely Renovated"
02/28/15 Erica B
We stayed in this room shortly after it had been renovated and benefited from all the new furniture and appliances. The room is very comfortable and feels quite luxurious - quite a treat after being cooped up in several hotels during our previous couple of weeks holidaying in the US. The room is high enough to be quiet and has a great view, even though it is at the city end of the building. It still has a great beach and ocean outlook. If you are looking for some comfort and space while in Waikiki, stay here.
"Not worth the cost."
02/24/15 Jules26Edmonton Edmonton
We stayed here from Feb 3-17/2015. We were travelling with our 7 and 9 year old children. I'm very conflicted about this hotel. I'll start with the good... the location. The location is second to none. You're not going to get a better location on Waikiki beach. It's on the nicest party of the beach. It's right across from the Beachwalk. It's close to everything. But it's on the quieter nicest part of Waikiki beach. The view from our room was unreal. The staff at the hotel were good too. Very nice and helpful. Housekeeping was ok but not great. It was great having a full kitchen. It was a decent size and really useful. A washer and dryer in unit was awesome as well. The room was a decent size and the four of us were fairly comfortable there. And the view for the Friday night fireworks was fantastic. The bad was the cost. For the kind of money we paid for this hotel I'd expect more. The room itself was very dated and just blah. The bedding was scratchy and not very nice. Now, I'm no princess. I happily stay at discount places and enjoy myself but for the kind of money we paid for this hotel I'd expect a bit more luxury. Now, this will sound completely silly but it was an issue. There are floor to ceiling windows and during they day they are great. You can open them way up and you really feel like you're bringing the outdoors indoors. But these blinds are old horrible plastic vertical blinds. Opening and closing them in a hassle. And at night if you want some dark you need to close them. But every single teeny tiny draft makes them clack against each other. So all freaking night every night they were noisy. If you open them you can see all the city lights which is fine. Unless you need dark to sleep. And unless you don't mind being woke up early by the sun rising. And honestly... for the money you pay I'd expect higher end finishings in the condo. Then every morning at around five am you'd hear the bus stop near the hotel. Beep beep beep. Aloha. Every 10-15 minutes from 5am onwards. Even with the windows closed. And we were on the 11th floor. However, during the day if you aren't renting a car the close bus stop is certainly an advantage. So it's sort of a double edged sword. I didn't sleep well the entire time we stayed there though. We travel to Honolulu once or twice every year. This was about our 21st visit. This was our first time at this hotel. Unless we could get some kind of massive deal I don't think we'll be back. For the money we paid we could have stayed somewhere a bit more luxurious and done without the kitchen and just ate out more. And we still probably would have spent less than we spent on this hotel. We could have gotten a better deal at the Outrigger next door and been right on the same beach and just not have had a kitchen. And saved money. Which really would not have been a big deal. There are lots of affordable dining options in Waikiki. If you are absolutely firm on needing a full kitchen I'd stay at the Waikiki sunset. It's about a block off the beach near the zoo. The rooms are the same size. The kitchens are the same size. The finishing is nicer and it's about 1/3 of the price. If you book an ocean view room you are super high up and have amazing views too. I think we'll be going back there next time. The Waikiki Shore just wasn't worth the money we paid.
"Good location, uncomfortable, LOUD"
02/08/15 Bart L
For the price, it wasn't worth it. We rented through Castle Resorts (2nd Floor, 1 bedroom unit). The unit was clean and the location is good. That's it for the good news. Extremely uncomfortable, noisy bed. Yes, the bed is noisy. None of the windows fully close so you will hear endless noise all night. You won't hear partying.... You will hear conversations, trash and recycling carts banging up and down the passageway behind the hotel - even at 4:30 in the morning. A very uncomfortable place to stay. Management onsite is helpful and understanding, which is great. This place just isn't for me.
"Waikiki Shore - Outrigger"
01/24/15 Kristina S New Zealand
We stayed here January 2015 in room 518. The room was great! The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and there is1 king bedroom with ensuite and 1 room with 2 twin beds. There is also a sofa bed. It is very clean and comfortable with a great view. It faces the Fort DeRussy military museum on one side and Trump tower on the other. You can see the ocean, palm trees, city skyline and the hills beyond. If you stay with the Outrigger units, you have use of the pool at the Outrigger Reef (which we stayed at previously) and is great. You have access to the beach through the hotel and there are activities that you can sign up for right there. My kids did parasailing and water tricycles. The only drawback was the noise. There is street noise most of the time, so bring ear plugs! I thought a higher room might make a difference, but spoke to a lady on the 10th floor and it was the same. Also, they were renovating the apartment above ours and it was quite loud at times and woke us up a few days. The rest was so great that we ignored the noise. It is very conveniently located to shops and restaurants, the beach and the bus stop is across the street.
"Second week-long stay and it just gets better!"

Here's everything you ever wanted or needed to know about Waikiki Shores. First of all location, location, location. Both visits we stayed on the Penthouse floor with views off our balcony to the west toward the Hilton (fireworks display on Friday nights) and out the front door to the east with the sweeping view of Waikiki beach toward Diamond Head. We are Stand-up paddle board surfers, so every morning at 7:00 am we headed down the back elevator, picked up a breakfast sandwich at the Subway on the ground floor, and straight out to the beach with some of the best surf breaks in Waikiki-- Pop's,Three's and Four's. If you don't have boards, Clarence at Waikiki Beach Boys right on the beach at the condo exit can rent you equipment by the hour, day, or week. Take advantage of exploring the water because you'll see coral, colorful fish and sea turtles. The snorkeling boats anchor straight out from Waikiki Shore so you know it must be good. Secondly, everything you want to do in Waikiki is right outside this condo building. It's right at the beach end of the Beach Walk, the most upscale area of Waikiki with not only the fancy stores like Gucci, Ferragamo, and Prada but also many interesting local shops. Don't miss the biggest and best ABC store right on the corner where they will make custom fabulously fresh and delicious salads and sandwiches for you. We like to pop next door to Waikiki Shore, through a side entrance that takes you directly into the lobby of the Outrigger Reef Hotel and enjoy the early bird special at the Shorebird casual dining restaurant that opens onto the beach. The dinner has a great salad bar with hot pasta and homemade chili and you cook your own steak or seafood on the outdoor grill. How more Hawaiian can that be! Stay and have a drink at the beautiful bar and listen to live music every night. Also in just a two minute walk, you'll find a P.F Changs, Cheescake Factory, Yard House, and Ruth Chris Steak House. Finally a special thanks to a wonderful staff that kept our room immaculate and addressed our special needs. Issac at the front desk was not only polite but made us feel like welcome quests. He provided us with the perfect parking spot just outside the door so we could conveniently store our paddle boards. Kenny Ching, the general manager, was receptive to our needs and met our requests that made our stay perfect. We will be back for a week again next January--or maybe even sooner. Mahalo
"Would NEVER stay here again"
01/21/15 kiki070973 Washington DC, District of Columbia
I stayed here because the others in my group were staying here. There were things I knew before hand from the website - no pool, no restaurant, no amenities, etc. It took 2 days for them to fix my WiFi and AC. The room was ugly and boring. There were drywall fixes partially made. The bathtub/shower was like a 1/2 of a tub. The water closet wall didn't go to the ceiling. But my biggest complaint is the noise. At around 1am daily, the neighboring hotel staff was rolling noisy carts for a good 30 minutes - hour. Any noise outside seemed to echo between the buildings. On the other side, people are up at all hours (not partying per se but just up because of time changes). I could hear every footstep, every conversation, every cough on the park/beach side. I wasn't able to sleep. This isn't really something the property can change easily. I didn't sleep well all week. I had to close the windows and turn on music to help drown out the outdoor sound. If you don't care what your room is like, need a kitchen, don't want a pool, and sleep like a rock, it's probably fine.
"Location, View and Space"
01/21/15 RamblinRancher66 Houston, Texas
I have stayed at many hotels in Waikiki- Embassy Suites, The Hale Koa, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Regency on Beach Walk and few that I can't remember, thankfully, and this is the best place I have stayed. They are each different units so I can only speak for the one that we stayed it and I loved it. We were there for almost 2 weeks and it was so easy to relax in the room. We have food allergies so having a kitchen made a huge difference. The second sleeping area was the pull out couch so if that's not your thing you won't be happy. The decor was Hawaiian meets Japanese and while not new, it was nice. There was even a little library full of books to borrow in the corner room. We left one to add to the collection. Update to grocery shopping for the area from my previous reviews-Foodland at Ala Moana is GONE! If you don't have a car plan to walk or take a taxi to find a grocery store. We had one and went to the Whole Foods in the Kahala Mall. Don't bother looking for GF items at Don Quijote. We found that Orchids next door had GF pancakes but that did not go well. There was free wifi in our room and it worked well for all 4 of us. The view was exactly what you hope you'd have in Hawaii-seriously, look at these pictures. I'm scared of heights so I didn't go on the lanai often but my family did. What a great place to have some tea and welcome the day or watch the sunset. Everything worked as it should have but we didn't figure out the AC until the last day. That was our fault. You have access to The Reef pool, hot tub and the towels for the beach. Walter is your man for getting the booking and save the number for him as that's where you call for anything you need. Others have mentioned that you get maid service every three days and that was fine by me. Any supplies you need-toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, towels come every day. Having the washer/dryer combo in the room was the icing on the cake. I hope that I can always afford to stay here when I come back to Waikiki.

Stayed here for the first time after always staying in the heart of Waikiki. This condo unit is away from the center of waikiki which I definitely appreciated. It was very quiet on the beach, not nearly as crowded, and lots of activities to do. The unit we stayed in was also extremely quiet, clean, and had an amazing view from the 11th floor. Our wifi worked great, and the beds were very comfortable. Would rent here again!
