Overall an enjoyable experience. The staff is very helpful. Just know that there is nothing surrounding to walk to and you are in the resort if you don't have a car. The hotel will arrange tuk tuk's, taxi's, or private boats but there is nothing in walking distance. Room is comfortable, wish there had been slippers offered for the cold floor. Restaurant […] has good food and good service. And the pool is heated which is great for the chilly afternoons. I asked for a massage one night and in less than an hour someone was available. I do wish the spa setting had been more comfortable with dim lighting and music. It was a good massage, but with bright lights. Overall a nice stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are going anywhere in Guatemala this hotel necessitates at least a one night stay. The views are breath taking, the gardens gorgeous. It is a walk or $3 ride into Pana. The nature preserve is right there. The staff was very very nice, the rooms clean, the bar area beautiful with a huge fireplace and the restaurant lovely. The food was good in […] general and very good for Guatemala. We also stayed at the sister hotel in Antigua which is right in town and equally lovely settings. I can't rave enough about this place and hope I have an opportunity to go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nature preserve right next door"
Don't miss the nature preserve 1/4 mile away. Great views of spider monkeys. Location is a a short 3 minute/ $3 tuk tuk ride away from Pana. The hotel will even arrange the ride for you.Great hotel. Very fine breakfast buffet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Most beautiful home away from home."
The grounds are a botanical paradise and the service is excellent. The dining experience is first class. The view splendid and the room accommodation is old world meets new world comfort. I highly recommended Hotel Atitlan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Gorgeous setting - couldn't be nicer. Very quiet. Good service, too, both in the hotel and it's restaurant.
"Stunning, uplifting location"

Extraordinary location and views, truly uplifting for the soul to sit and watch the dawn over the lake and see two volcanos emerge and silhouette across the emerald green/blue lake. Hotel is nice also, very authentic and rustic rooms, no air con though. Restaurant and service lets it down somewhat but not enough to complain.

The experience of our stay in the hotel was ruined because the service was poor. The lines at the breafast were long. Could not get a refill for the coffee glass. Room sevice was not available. There is no coffee maker or kettle in the room so it is practically impossible to get hot water without visiting the restaurant which opens only at seven a.m. The hotel is far from town. We also had a security problem - The balcony door could not be locked. When we indicated this to the reception they promised to fix it which they did not. The Hotel is located in a beautiful lake shore in the midth of an exquisit garden. But because the service is poor I do not recommend this hotel.
"A splendid experience"

The hotel is on the shore of beautiful Lake Atitlan and surrounded by luxurious gardens which are very well maintained. I understand that all rooms overlook the lake but the view may be partially obscured by the equally attractive gardens. My room had a very comfortable king sized bed with a spacious bathroom including a shower with plenty of space. At the back of my room in the garden there was a man made babbling stream which was an ideal accompaniment for going to sleep. The restaurant which has both inside and outside areas offers a buffet with a wide choice of offerings of good quality. I stayed two nights and was very comfortable.
"A beautiful place."

I stayed for one night last week and really enjoyed my stay. I had lunch with friends at the pool upon arrival. The food is good - nothing spectacular - but good. The pool area is beautiful so we used the pool at hot tub for a few hours before dinner. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was helpful and multilingual. Beautiful view of the lake and gardens. My only complaint was the peacock making noise at 4:00am. I would visit again.
A lovely character hotel, reflecting Guatemala in it's colourful decor, but.... No tea/coffee making in room, No iron or board/trouser press (asked for iron at desk and got one that reminded me of the 60's - no board), No air-con or fan! No water!. Have to pay for everything. Oh, and no ice!! Did ask nice man at bar one night and got cup full to take to my room. Clean room. Hard beds which many older visitors complained about to each other. Pool not cleaned - lots of debris floating about. Nice hot pool, but both closed from 6pm, when guests actually wanted to use them! Breakfast really not worth the Q110 (about £8.50). And charged this if only had toast! Drinks at bar expensive.Staff not overly helpful or friendly. There is a basic gym (didn't use). We stayed for 3 nights for a wedding, and was a lovely venue for the event as the gardens are beautiful and there are views over the lake.Birds are kept largely caged in the grounds for all to see (Peacocks, Toucans, Parrots and Love birds). There is a jetty so that you can have a boat pull up to the grounds of the Hotel (as we did one night for a boat party, and had a sight-seeing boat dock there one day). So, lovely outside, but 5 stars it isn't!! Wouldn't stay again.

Hotel with great view of the lake and wonderful gardens but with a terrible service... Rooms are small and beds uncomfortable... The service staff is not friendly and overall way over priced... There are much better options around the lake..

Recommended in 100% for a wonderful time to spend in Atitlan lake. the garden with thousands of rare plants and flowers, parrots and tukans, peacocks and ducks... every thing by the amazing lake and the 3 volcanoes. it's must to stay in this hotel

My husband and I stayed in a suit and it was absolutely lovely. We had the best service and view. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Will most definitely recommend and will come back and stay here.

Its hard to tell if this is a beautiful botanic garden with a great hotel or a great hotel with a beautiful botanic garden! The hotel is off a small landscaped courtyard. After checking in to our wonderfully decorated room, we couldn't wait to go outside and explore the grounds. We were told that the hotel employs 6 full-time gardeners - and their love of what they do is evident on every path and around every turn! The gardens are spectacular, and so is the view from the hotel, restaurant and pool area. Looking out over lake Atitlan, you can see three volcanos. What a setting! Meals were served buffet style and most were typical and average (nothing as memorable as the views). The staff and service were excellent. A cruise across the lake to Santiago for shopping (sharpen your negotiation skills before you go!) was very enjoyable. We have wonderful memories of our stay at Hotel Atitlan.

The garden is the nicest part. If you are unlucky, they put you in a rather oldfashioned, dark room - e.g. without depositbox. The Restaurant is disapointing for vegetarians. We had the worst French onion soup ever and this in a country where wonderful onions are grown. The other vegetarian dish had a nice Name - which we forgot - for a type of Hamburger. We could not finish it. After this we have not eaten cheese for more than a week. On Weekends you may have local events, like marriages, with loud music longer than midnight.
