There were some minor details with some bar tenders, maybe because the hotel was crowded. Lots of party. Great view to the sea and "El Arco"

Fantastic view and good location. Facility is nicer than I expected for the price, but not luxury (would say very good). As with most all-inclusives, the food was only okay (acceptable, but never had a great meal). Seemed much less family-oriented and more younger couples, which was a good thing for us (but increases noise at night).

My wife and I just returned from a four day stay at the Riu Santa Fe and were very pleased on most fronts. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Service was great and all the hotel staff we met and interacted with were friendly, extremely courteous, and speak highly about the management of the Riu. Unlike others who've commented in less than […] positive ways about the food, we found it great and well prepared. We had breakfast every morning at El Torote and dinner buffet style with more than sufficient choices. One suggestion we made to one of the hotel staff was for the bartenders to place a tip jar at each bar. Perhaps I am oversensitive to this issue but too often I saw people order drink after drink after drink and never leave even a single dollar. I suspect that the hotel staff earn very little and tips go a long way plus, they also ensure even better service. A tip jar may be a bit tacky but perhaps there are other ways of hinting that tips are appreciated even if it is an all-inclusive resort. We definitely plan on returning to the Riu and bringing friends from NM along with us. Read more

The place was truly amazing for the price. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the Asian and Italian restuarants the best. We had no problem getting reservations. The room with one king bed would have been more than adequate for a couple to stay. Beds are hard and pillows are not the best. This was our second time staying at the Riu Sante Fe and it was just as enjoyable as it was 2 years ago. Food was excellent, buffet as well as the Italian Restaurant. Weather was ok, 3 days of cool temperatures and clouds : ( Did not see whales like we did the first trip. Do NOT recommend Fajita Cruise.... food so-so, and did not leave the bay area. […] Were expecting to see whales, but only had a view of our resort from the ocean! There was a wide range of ages at the resort. Many people under 30, but also a lot of middle age to retired people, which made it interesting. Beds are not too comfortable, but most of the time was spent on the beach or at the pool. Recommend walking down the beach to the Mango Bar, very fun and they served buckets of Coors Light - your only chance at domestic beer. Looking at staying at the Riu in Aruba for our next trip. We had a very nice two weeks January 2013. Our room was centraly located in building #3 overlooking one of the hotel pools. The staff at the resort are very accomodating and friendly. This is an excellent hotel and we had a wonderful experience. The staff does try hard to make sure everything is going well. The reason I did not give it five stars was due to it was noisy at times and our room had a musty smell for a couple of days. Food - The buffet are horrible. The restaurants are average at best. The taco and burrito stand was really good, but they were not there everyday. I really wanted to like this hotel. When we first arrived we were greeted at the front desk with margaritas. When we entered our room I was impressed. However my experience got worse from that point on. From the room we walked down to the pools, and while they were very nice looking, they all were too cold. The weather outside was around 80F and it […] was difficult to stay in the pool for more than 5 minutes. On top of that, not one jacuzzi in the entire resort was working. Even though the jets were on the temperature was the same as the pools. It's unfortunate because the pool on the beach has a wonderful view but we couldn't stay in long enough to enjoy it. The worst part of this hotel is the food. Being all inclusive I didn't expect the food to be amazing, but the food was barely edible. Everything was cold, dry and tasteless. Especially the outdoor cafeteria style restaurant near the center pool. The food looks as bad as it tastes. Also you can't get a decent cup of coffee anywhere in the resort. I recommend bringing Starbucks Vias, and use their hot water to make your own cup of coffee. 24 hour food at the sports bar is a joke. It's a refrigerator filled with terrible hamburgers and hot dogs, and a microwave next to it to heat it up. Perhaps we came at a bad time of year because I've read lots of good reviews which is why we stayed here in the first place. My wife and I had a great 5 days at the resort. We upgraded the room to a suite and were very very impressed, well worth it. The music started about 11am and stopped at about 4pm at the beach front pools, never bothered us. The front desk staff needs some work but everyone else was superb. We were never once approched by timeshare sellsmen at the resort, […] which is unbeliveable in Cabo. Water taxis and cabs can add up if you goto town often. We walked from town to the resort on the beach once.... its a long walk in the sand. The food was what I expected from an all-exclusive, not great but not bad. There were quite a few young people at the resort which wasn't bad, a lot of eye candy. The resort is big and it takes about 10mins to get from the beach to the front lobby. Huge bonus was the frigerator was stocked daily with soda, water, beer, and booze at no extra charge. Didn't seem like there was a lot to do for young kids but we left ours at home so I never really looked into it. The 9pm shows were typical of these kind of resorts, kinda cheeze, but entertaining at that. All in all we had a great time and would return. Read more

While it was the all-inclusive aspect of the hotel that attracted us to it, it turned out to be the reason we'll never go to another all inclusive resort. The primary reason being the quality of the food. I've been on a many cruises where food is readily available and plentiful. However, the difference was in the quality. For example, we made reservations for the Asian restaurant expecting a "finer" dining experience. We were shocked to learn that everything except the main dish was buffet style. Even this would have been acceptable if the food was good and tasty. The fact of the matter is that they food was stale, cold, and tasteless. When I asked for hot chili oil to spice it up, I was presented with a sriracha style condiment which did not help. All in all, the resort, I think, tries to make it a pleasant stay for visitors, but I the food leaves a lot to be desired...like any type of fast food even. Read more

Downsides: they only carry ONE kind of beer, all mixed drinks seem to be made with an extra cup of sugar and the non-reservation buffet left much to be desired. We were able to make dinner reservations at the Mexican resturant and the food there had flavor and resembled what I have seen at other all inclusives in their respective buffet restaurants. Me and my girlfriend stayed here the first week of December 2012. The RIU is a world class resort in a beautiful city. Rooms and premises are impeccably clean and maintained. The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. One small issue that arose for us was that smoking is allowed in the rooms but even so the room did not smell the least bit of smoke. […] The food is also very good for a buffet. There is plenty of variety and everything's well prepared. One more thing, do not lose your towel card or pool toweI! I was not aware that the towel card (or pool towel) must be turned in at check out. We made the mistake of leaving our pool towels by the pools on the last day. The location, hotel and staff are all very nice. The food on the buffett is very strange, one in 5 items tasted normal, HORRIBLE coffee, breakfast buffett is the best one. They make it really hard to make reservations for the restaurants, you have to get up at 7 am and walk to main desk. They also don't have enough chairs or umbrellas by the pool or […] on the beach. People come down super early and put towels on them to "reserve" them, then don't return for hours, we just eventially started jacking seats that didn't have personal items other than hotel issue towel.
