Friendly staff, nice hotel and ameneties. Not a snooty high-end place, but definitely very nice and all you really need if you want to relax on the beach, around the pool etc. The rooms were good, but the beds were a little uncomfortable. WE had an ocean view, but it was limited because of the floor we were on. Building 7 is definitely the place to stay if you choose the Riu Sante Fe.

Beautiful resort with lots of dining choices. The food was ok and the beds were hard, but lots to do. Entertainment staff did a great job and the bars were great. Close to fishing, bars, and good eats and drinks. Overall a solid 4 and a great value for the price.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 days. Great stay , room was wonderful clean, our view outside the room was great . Staff extremely friendly and helpful. George at the front desk was pleasant and helped us throw out our stay . Food is ok. Entertainment was great . Would love to go again soon .

All inclusive might be good for families w children if cost of paying for food is a concern. We are not big drinkers so the endless supply of booze was also annoying. The bed was AWFUL-way to hard for my taste. Funky moldy smell in the room-no beuno-that could not be dispelled via the over head fan. The staff were incredibly polite and over the top amazing! They were the best part of our stay

The Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Access to the beach was great, pools were beautiful as well as views of the Ocean. The only complaint I have is the food was below average. You had to make reservations 2 days ahead, when you arrived there were so many vacant tables that were never used. We never made it to the Italian restaurant because of reservations. The food that was readily available was stuff you would not buy from a vending machine. I can live with below average food so that didn't ruin it for me, plenty of bars with a great variety of drinks.

Hotel Santa Fe is fantastic. Greeted with a drink, bell hop Julio showed us the different locations inside hotel on the way to room, we could have switched the room for another one , if we wanted. Our room was just perfect. Ocean view, balcony, lots of space, very clean. Everybody so friendly, always smiling.

We have been going to Cabo San Lucas annually for over 13 years. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and liked the all inclusive aspect of the hotel offering. The drinks were great!! NOT watered down at all. In fact, they had several bars throughout the hotel and we took FULL advantage of that. They even had a bar at the pool. The pool was first class, there are actually four pools on the property. It would rival of any top strip hotel 's pool in Las Vegas. An extra perk was that tipping was included. Huge! There was one area where they need to SIGNIFICANTLY improve.....The food. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being excellent, I would give them an overall food rating of 5 at best. We ate at 2 different buffets, one night at the Italian restaurant, and one night at the Asian restaurant. The restaurants were a little better quality. In fairness, we never got to eat at the "Steak House" which is supposed to be good. We arrived on a Monday and immediately made all of our dining reservations on that day. The only reservation that was available to us was for Saturday which conflicted with our plans.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the RIU Santa Fe. There's a little something for everyone - party goers and those wanting to relax and soak up the sun (that was us). The pools, the beach, and the view are fantastic and the staff was amazing and very attentive! Here's answers to a few things I wanted to know before I went: 1) There's plenty of bottled water provided in the mini bar. The hotel clearly states the tap water is not drinkable. 2) Pool towels are provided 3) The pillows are flat and you're provided 3, you may want to ask for more. 4) Get an airport transfer, it's cheaper than a taxi. I highly recommend Cabo Transfers 5) Tour operators are located on-site to book excursions. Yes, they're more expensive than haggling at a stand but they often times include transportation from/to the resort and they use reputable tour companies 6) The evening shows are so-so; the Michael Jackson and Mexican show were the best 7) The fitness center is not bad and offers bottled water and towels on-site 8) You can walk along to the beach to downtown; it's about 2 miles from the Marina but you can cut down the distance walking in the sand by walking along street and finding beach access closer to the resort 9) There's a local bus (white school bus) stop across the street from the resort that costs $1 to get downtown. 10) The dress on the resort is fairly casual; t-shirts and bathing wear during the day and summer dresses and polos in the evening

Resort was ginormous, but beautiful. We paid to upgrade to a jacuzzi suite and it was well worth it. We most likely had the best view at the resort. Food was sub-par and the same thing everyday so by the end of the week we were a little sick of it. Once we were there Expedia worked with a company called grayline where we met Sebastian. He was awesome and so knowledgable about everything there was to do and about the culture there, but we got lucky meeting him because all the reps for grayline weren't as friendly. My only complaint was how long the walk was from our building to the main restaurant. We were in building 7, which is by far the best building, but the distance to the front of the resort was a little far and that there is definitely a rowdy crowd there. Otherwise, a great place to stay in Cabo San Lucas.

the hotel is a excellent, hotel has all facilies, beautiful pools , bars in the pool are the best, they have to do better with the food at the 2 buffet, but all of the restaurant are great. i will recommend this hotel to all of my friend. also the hotel need to get a better deal with the taxis that they have outside, is too expensive they charge you 14 dollars even if you go around the block for less than a mile.

There was no elevator and they put us on the 3rd floor. The grounds are nice but huge. There is an area up by the beach with a pool bar and it was nice but a long walk from where we were put. The pool bars close at 6. It was a nice place but we couldn't get reservations for any of the restaurants for any of the 4 nights we were there. The shows were okay but its certainly more family oriented. We had more fun downtown and ended up there 3 of the 4 evenings. with the other evening filling a trash can full of beer and ice (no bar on the beach for new years) new years to sit on the beach and watch fireworks. If your coming with a family and dont mind stairs and being far from the beach its not a bad place.

Had a great New Years experience at the Riu Santa Fe. Our room was very clean, well stocked and the staff was very attentive to any needs you might have. If you want a good view you will have to pay a bit more as the room we had was a standard and we had a view of the wild life refugee next door. Although we had a great view of downtown Cabo at night. Food and drinks were good-could use a bit more variety in the wine & beer column but everything else was good. They put on an awesome New Years Eve seafood buffet-no complaints here and we watched the fireworks from the hotel beach. All in all it was a great trip and I would recommend this hotel.

Nice facility, Great staff, food wasn't bad and they were very free and easy with the booze ("top shelf" was Jim Beam, Jose Cuervo, Smirnoff). Big drawback was the range in quality of the rooms. If you get "garden view", could be third story overlooking the pool, or could be the room we had (bottom story looking out over access road). Because of the free booze, if your on bottom floor be prepared for lots of loud drunks walking past your room on way to theirs at all hours of the night. Rooms are very well insulated on sides and above, but noise seems to come through the doors like their not even closed. They really need to classify the garden view rooms further so you have a better idea of what your getting. We'd have been more than happy to pay another $50-100 a night to have had something higher up and facing an actual garden instead of road/fence/vacant lot. The amount of activities the hotel offers was also a little lacking - for beach entertainment they had boogie boards and that was it. Two ping pong tables for 2K people, and they packed them up and put them away at 4:00 when the poolside staff had to go get ready for dinner service. Other drawback - if you wanted a lounge chair at the nice pool by the ocean, you literally had to get up at 5:00 in the morning and lay a towel out to reserve your chairs - all gone by 7:00 AM. They officially charge $30 for the towels, so you have to hope someone doesn't grab it as happened to us.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for relaxing on the beach, fishing, shopping, or checking out the local restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly. Our only complaint was the food. Buffets were mediocre and the specialty restaurants difficult to get reservations. Riu Sante Fe is the "party zone". If your looking for something a little quieter, try the Riu Palace next door.

We stayed three nights in building 7. We asked for this building as it's ideally situated nearest the beach and swim-up bar pools. Our room was on the second floor near the lobby and very loud. We didn't get a whole lot of sleep all week. The food in the main restaurant was hit or miss. I loved the fresh pasta and sea bass. The resort was full. Forget about getting a reservation in one of the nice restaurants as they were booked for the week when we arrived. Forget about getting a lounge chair if you're not down at the pool by seven. The beach was nice but the surf was too rough to swim. The pools were nice but crowded with drunks late in the afternoon. Overall a nice resort but we prefer smaller - less crowded ones.

We have stayed at the RIU Santa Fe for the past several years at Christmas. This resort is overall wonderful, and the service is great. We love the location close to the beach and activities. The food was very good and something for everyone. Our room was very clean and the maid service was great everyday. The beds are a bit uncomfortable. This year the entertainment shows at night left alot to be desired. It is mostly the same shows that they have had for the past eight years. They did the Grease show twice during our stay. Christmas Eve was a HUGE disappointment. The show consisted of one person pretending to get drunk and that was it. Overall we had another great stay here.

Requested 2nd floor. All got 1st floor. Too Loud...paper thin walls. Sleep was not an option. No beach/pool towel cards on ck in had to argue at ck out or pay $20/towel. Had to have door lock changed and then only one key for that room of two guests. Two safes not working waited hours in room for staff. No daily restocking of bath towels and drinks in a couple rooms. Restaraunt reservations fill up fast so you are stuck with buffet. Which is fair. Pool chairs are hard to get and staff moves your towels if another guest has paid them for front row seats and then confronts you why you are sitting there because the towels are dirty ones that staff placed there so dealt with agrument with staff and other guest. Facility should offer free transport downtown due to distance too far to walk and taxi is minimum $14 one way plus extra $ per person. Some of the staff we're excellent with customer service in restaraunts and buffet.

No more Riu for me. Staying at the Riu Santa Fe was one of my worst all inclusive experiences since the last time I stayed at a Riu. I was hoping that this time would be better but I guess all Rius are the same. The food was barely edible and the drinks were not drinkable. This place is great if you want to lose weight on a vacation and/or dry out. Made several trips into Cabo San Lucas just for a decent meal and a decent margarita. Although the hotel itself is well kept and very picturesque, the walk to anywhere on the property was exhausting. The lobby (only place for free wi-fi) and beach pool are about a 1/2 mile apart. The hotel staff could have cared less whether or not you were having a good time. In fact, they made it rather difficult to have a good time. One had to wait in line only to find out that you were in the wrong line and the wait started over. I'm back to Iberostar for my next all-inclusive. Adios Riu, no matter where you are.

Beautiful pools and beachfront access. Staff is friendly and responsive. Great meal selections. Get to the concierge early in the morning to book for specialty restaurants.

We enjoyed our week at the Riu Santa Fe. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even though the hotel was full, we seldom noticed crowds. We had never stayed at an all-inclusive hotel before, and we were very happy with all we were offered. The food and beverages were generous and very good; we had no trouble getting reservations at the specialty restaurants. The food at the buffet was also good, especially for Christmas Eve dinner. Our room wasn't anything special, but it was adequate. The wet bar was a nice feature. One thing I want to stress is the importance of arranging for transportation to and from the airport before a visit. The airport arrival area is very chaotic.

Staff, pools, and beach access was great. Food was decent. However, it lacks in comfort in the room. We did book on a budget and did not upgrade to anything nicer. Our room had two full beds pushed together at an attempt at a king size. The room had a damp smell we could not get rid of and we had to kill many Mosquitos. Beds were not very comfortable, even the blankets were not comforting, older style tv with not very many channels, no bags in garbage cans. I felt like we got what we paid for on a budget but if you booked an ocean front room etc it would increase the value of your experience.

Great view and near the ocean, although most people stay in the pool area since the sand is rough and the ocean gets deep fast. Its very loud in the main pool area, and has lots of activities going on throughout the day. There is also a quiet pool area in the center of the resort. But the staff was cleaning the pool in the mornings while people were swimming, which wasn't very sanitary. But the staff is very pleasant! although our cleaning lady did throw away my makeup remover soap and ray ban cloth, which was quite annoying.

Overall resort- it is a very large resort, walking distances is a must. Half of the resort is not on the beach so a 5-10 minute walk is necessary. Beach- the beach in front of the hotel is nice but not only for experienced swimmers, the surf was rough when we where there and gets very deep very quick, watch for the colored flags on the beach. Pools- large beautiful pools, one by the ocean and the other on the non-beach part of the resort. Water was a little cold in December. Guests place towels on the pool chairs early and leave them there all day, by 9:30 (or earlier) they are all taken. Food- buffets were good, large variety of food. Drinks/bars- quick sevice, drinks varied depending on the bartender. Rooms- clean and comfortable. Room service- if they come and don't clean your room, they will not be back until the next day, even if they say they will be back later. Overall staff- fine, not overly friendly.

We paid extra for the oceanview room but it had a view of dirt mountain... We had asked to change the room w/ view and they had us check out @ 11am and re-check in @ 3pm instead of having the room ready and have us move. we tried to be patient and asked to be checked in as early as possible since I was w/ 3 seniors which 1 was on a wheel chair (i had to pay $20/day to use wheel chair by the way). they agreed. But the rooms were not ready till 4pm and I had to literally spend the whole day going back & forth from front desk to the rooms that were supposed to be ready. Everything was just tooooo difficult to get anything done. Flies were everywhere and on the food... they didn't cover the food well for the flies to not come in~ Drinks were things that we never heard of... oceanview rooms had XX beers only for the first night and then only one brand. Last night, we were offered to move to Riu Palace and we accepted. Once we got there, services were a little better and drinks were better but by the time we got there, it was pretty much a sleep and go home. =( Doctor's office experience HELL too...
