"Winter escape destination extraordinaire!"
Fabulous spot for a winter getaway! Great views and weather. Whales breaching a half mile off shore! Clean contemporary facilities, plenty of dining options and sufficient liquor to drown away memories of northern climates!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"First time I've rebooked a hotel before leaving it"
We don't normally go to the same place twice but I've already booked this hotel again for another long weekend. Cannot say enough good things about it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay very much. This hotel was in great condition. Completely recovered from the hurricane. The food was exceptionally good for an all inclusive. Staff were friendly and helpful. We definitely would go back to the Riu Santa Fe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice resort but crowded"
We stayed three nights in building 7. We asked for this building as it's ideally situated nearest the beach and swim-up bar pools. Our room was on the second floor near the lobby and very loud. We didn't get a whole lot of sleep all week. The food in the main restaurant was hit or miss. I loved the fresh pasta and sea bass. The resort was full. Forget […] about getting a reservation in one of the nice restaurants as they were booked for the week when we arrived. Forget about getting a lounge chair if you're not down at the pool by seven. The beach was nice but the surf was too rough to swim. The pools were nice but crowded with drunks late in the afternoon. Overall a nice resort but we prefer smaller - less crowded ones. We have stayed at the RIU Santa Fe for the past several years at Christmas. This resort is overall wonderful, and the service is great. We love the location close to the beach and activities. The food was very good and something for everyone. Our room was very clean and the maid service was great everyday. The beds are a bit uncomfortable. This year […] the entertainment shows at night left alot to be desired. It is mostly the same shows that they have had for the past eight years. They did the Grease show twice during our stay. Christmas Eve was a HUGE disappointment. The show consisted of one person pretending to get drunk and that was it. Overall we had another great stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Riu? No thanks."
No more Riu for me. Staying at the Riu Santa Fe was one of my worst all inclusive experiences since the last time I stayed at a Riu. I was hoping that this time would be better but I guess all Rius are the same. The food was barely edible and the drinks were not drinkable. This place is great if you want to lose weight on a vacation and/or dry out. […] Made several trips into Cabo San Lucas just for a decent meal and a decent margarita. Although the hotel itself is well kept and very picturesque, the walk to anywhere on the property was exhausting. The lobby (only place for free wi-fi) and beach pool are about a 1/2 mile apart. The hotel staff could have cared less whether or not you were having a good time. In fact, they made it rather difficult to have a good time. One had to wait in line only to find out that you were in the wrong line and the wait started over. I'm back to Iberostar for my next all-inclusive. Adios Riu, no matter where you are. "poor smelling room"
The room smelled bad the whole time I was there. It smelled like a combination of pesticides and mold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will not be returning"
Beautiful location with great pools and wonderful staff. However, this is a resort for people looking to party far more than it is for families. As of 11 am, very loud music was played in the main pool. Activities seemed to encourage the atmosphere of drunkenness, as one of the activities was a beer guzzling competition in the center of the main pool […] area. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, and the kids club was tiny and virtually non-existent. So, if you are looking to go on a vacation to let loose and party, this is the place. If you are looking for a family resort, than despite its marketing, this is not the resort I would choose. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

pillows were a bit hard, food was a 3 star, wine in the food courts - do not drink it - tastes horrible ! hard liquor in the bars - good choices! great location. 1/2 hr walk on the beach to Marina area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great value. Getting reservations at the restaurants was a little challenging as most options were unavailable or only available at late hours (which didn't work well for a family trip). That said, overall it was a very enjoyable stay and we'd go again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay for the price."
We have stayed here several times, some of the "freebie" services that were super convenient are not available any longer. Overall though, it's a great place to go with a group of friends that like to party it up. Rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and polite. "Very clean hotel, close to the beach"
The hotel was very well maintained. Our only complaint was that it was little far away from downtown Cabo San Lucas. Otherwise the pools and beach access were very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant stay, on beach, close to town."
The Riu Santa Fe is quite large. It has six buildings around a large pool area and then there is building 7 which overlooks the beach with the activity pool. We were in building 7. It is a walk to the larger restaurants, but just for a quick breakfast of lunch, there is a restaurant right there. The room was nice with basic amenities. I wore socks in […] there and they were rather dirty by the end of the stay, however everything was well maintained and clean. Maid service gave us ample towels daily. The hallways in the building were dark at night, and some did not have lights on. The food was average for a large resort. Mexican dishes were quite good, the American dishes weren't. Everything was kept hot and cold and enclosed so insects didn't get in. Beverages were good, plenty of water and pop in our room. Entertainment at night was just mediocre. I've seen better at other hotels, but it's still a nice distraction and something to do at night if you don't want to go out on the town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice, clean, and impeccable service."
They opened just one day before we got there and the place was beautiful. Swim up bars were hopping and tons of fun. Food was great; some of the best buffets I've ever eaten. Only complaint is lack off AC in the room. However, stocking the mini bar every day sort of made up for it. :) Definitely recommend as long as you don't care about swimming/snorkeling […] in the ocean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
resort in good condition after storm damage, still a few hickups, such as cable kept going out for 8 days, enjoyed stay none the less, only real negative resort did not help with any room requests such as room in middle of property as to shorten walks to pools and entertainment [we are in late 60's with health issues, also rooms close together. we were […] put in blbg #7n/e corner farthest point from everything, rooms were about 40 rooms apart, and were on ground floor which was flooded and had a severe mildue smell, after long debate we were moved on second day. p.s. we made our reservations with room requests 10 months in advance! "Very nice all-inclusive."
My cousin and I stayed here in mid-November 2014 (a couple months after a devastating hurricane hit the area.) The hotel had been re-opened for only a couple weeks and several buildings of rooms seemed to be empty, however, all of the facilities that were open were great. It was all very clean and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more friendly. There's […] a relaxing pool and a much larger party pool(s) area. It was all very fun. For those who care, it's a very hetero-normative resort. Mostly straight couples and a few families. Everyone assumed my cousin and I were on our honeymoon. This isn't a bad thing, just something to know if you're not a straight couple/ family heading to the resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed the competitions at the pool and water aerobics, very entertaining. The food was very delicious, definitely would go there again. the service was very good and plenty of alcohol for those that like to relax and not worry about paying for an extra drink.Genuine Expedia guest review
"November 2014. Five Day Stay."
We found the staff at the resort to be exceptional. The dinning facilities provided enough choices that anyone could find something they would enjoy. Our room was clean and nicely furnished but we did not go to spend a lot of time in the room. Outside areas around the pools and grounds were remarkably considering there had been a hurricane only two […] months before. The only complaint is that the entertainment (live shows) had the sound volume so high that it was overpowering and distorted. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The people who work at Riu made the difference."
We were a tad skeptical after reading some of the reviews and there are some things about Riu Santa Fe that will not be a positive for a mature couple like ourselves. This is a party spot- more like a drunk fest that if that's what you're looking for- you'll love this place. The beach front pools were a gross mix of old and young. mostly young drunks. […] There were ample spots to find some respite and the activities the hotel offered was decent. I get that it's Mexico and the benefit of pushing local products but Dos Equis and Tecate are not for everyone. Small plastic cups also don't help. For those into hard liquor- again no problem but for those like ourselves, a cold refreshing beer was lacking. The food was ok, enough options to satisfy and everything was clean and well prepared. This leads me to the best thing about the trip and that was all the people that worked at Riu. From the moment we arrived they weer so pleasant and helpful. Everyone from the front desk, all the restaurant and bar staff to the grounds personnel were awesome. You could tell they genuinely cared to make our stay as good as possible. "Very Nice After the Hurricane!"
I was in Cabo for 4 days planning my wedding and needed a place to stay that had All-Inclusive. This was the perfect fit! I was there by myself and the staff was very accomodating. My only negative comment would be that I wasn't able to eat at any of the restaurants because I didn't make a reservation. I feel like the Concierge didn't really make an […] effort to get a single in for dinner. I was able to eat the buffet each day though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Our reservation was for the riu Santa Fe, but because of the damage odile caused, the hotel wasn't up and running upon our arrival and everyone with existing reservations was upgraded to the palace! "Great Resort & Great Location"
My overall experience at your resort was AMAZING, I'm sure that I will return in the near future. The staff was SAAB (Service Above And Beyond) and the choice options of meals was Excellent. However, the rooms could use some upgrades...the beds were too hard, the water in bathroom sink never really got hot, the televisions could use a MAJOR upgrade […] as well as the channel selections. I would like to see MORE options of food in the sports bar for late night serving, I would like to see more healthier options of food choices for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. "What you get at an All Inclusive property"
Not a fan of all inclusive hotels. Having disclosed that I dont think you can get quality food and drinks in this type of hotels. If you stick to basics you can get by with the food and if you stick to bottled beer you should be ok. Room decor is TERRIBLE this guys use same materials and style for a motel, gas station, furniture shop and "luxury" hotel. […] Rooms are a but rundown despite of the hotel not being that old. "Good hotel but still under some renovation"
I had booked a double room at the Riu Santa Fe, but found out upon arrival that the Santa Fe was still closed for renovation and we had been moved to the Palace instead. It was a nice upgrade to be able to use the Palace's pool and facilities, but the info would have been nice ahead of the trip especially since I called several times to find out about […] the status of the hotel. This was my first all-inclusive stay and it was pretty much what I expected. The staff was very friendly, and the pool area was fantastic. Food was very average, but the unlimited drinks were great. The room was pretty average for a higher end resort but since we paid for the Santa Fe (which is cheaper), this was fine. There were a few things that weren't working in the room (toilet didn't flush properly, the sliding door handle was broken, it smelled like mold at first but we aired it out after the first day and it was fine) but it's easily forgiven since they just went through Hurricane Odile and all the staff looked like they were working their butts off to help get things in order. Overall, it was a great time! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cabo Vacation at Riu Palace"
We were really impressed with how nice and beautiful the resort was, especially considering we were there just a few weeks after the big hurricane hit. The staff was super friendly overall and very enthusiastic when it came to the fun activities at the resort. Just make sure to make reservations to the restaurants early in the morning the day you wish […] to dine at them (unless you want to gorge on the buffet everyday, which isn't too shabby either). We learned that lesson the hard way and weren't able to try all of them. If you've never been, I definitely recommend a glass bottom boat tour out to the arch. It's fairly quick (doesn't take up your entire day), easy to make a reservation (they're offering tours practically every hour), cheap, and provides some really cool views of the beaches, arch, and fish. The hotel was great when it came to reserving any type of adventure or activity we wanted to arrange. Definitely an enjoyable/relaxing experience overall at Riu Palace. "RIU PALACE- not the Santa Fe"
It was so amazing and a great resort. We ended up staying at the RIU Palace because the hurricane damaged the Santa Fe. I recommend the Palace over the Santa Fe though, it seemed like a much better place and was closer to the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel to stay at"
We were booked at the Santa Fe but were given our rooms at the Palace right nexrt door since the Santa Fe had some damages from the hurricane the previous month. As soon as you arrive they greet you with drinks, the hotel was immaculate, high ceilings, antique chandeliers, a courtyard in the middle, it makes you feel like you are back in the late 1800's. […] You feel relaxed as soon as you walk in and the personnel, amazing, Specially Mercedes and Dolores from the buffet They always made sure we were well taken care of and gave us some local tips for transportations and places to go. The fridge is the room is full with water, soda and beer you also have a bar with tequila, vodka and rum, you can drink it all at no additional cost. The bartenders and waiters make sure you always have a drink, please don't forget to tip them, they work real hard to make sure you are happy while you stay there.
