"RIU Santa Fe was very nice"
Stayed at many all-inclusives. We were a little worried by the bad reviews but I have found that every time someone gives a bad review I usually have a great time there, works with bad movie reviews also :) We stayed in bld 7 w/partial ocean view which meant you needed to look left or right from your balcony. The pools were awesome and the staff was […] always friendly and helpful. My only complaint was there were no waiters/waitresses by the pool to bring you drinks. They walked around collecting your empties but you had to walk up and get it yourself, which was fine. We tipped everyone and were treated great and the drinks were stronger :) We heard many complain complain complain and didn't tip a time and acted like everyone who worked there was their servant. we used Impala for our transfers it was 120 RT for 3 people. Private vehicle, gave us a driving history lesson on the way to hotel, stopped at various points of interest and took pictures of us and really made it fun.... food was good, we never ate at steak house etc as we never made it down to lobby at 8 to make reservations. The hotel is not connected it is spread out so if you don't like walking or have problems walking this isn't for you. I would stay at the palace which is next door. we would return in a NY minute Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel was very clean. Staff was fantastic. Food was great. The beach was just behind one Of many pools. The only problem I had was the Bed and TV. It was not like home but then again... we didn't spend much time in the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel : clean, courteous staff."
We had a wonderful stay in August. Good food, wonderful room, friendly staff. Pools were nice. I would have liked to have been able to go to a pool that didn't allow children. With five pools, surely one of them with a bar could have been adults only. The pools by the beach would have been better without the same thumping music all day long. Catered […] more to the younger (20-30) crowd. Also, the night life was catered more towards the children in the evenings. Not much night life for the adults for dancing and getting involved with adult themed entertainment. Drove to San Jose 1 day and Todo Santos on another. Both are very friendly. Enjoyed interacting with the people in the towns. Todo Santos has some good beaches but the best on is at marker 65km. Nice bar on the beach and nice for swimming or skim boarding. They also have a "Hotel California" with tributes to the Eagles. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The resort itself is very nice and very clean. The grounds are maticulously landscaped and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a worker cleaning something; floors, tables, trash cans... They're always sweeping, mopping, wiping something. The resort is pretty big, but there is direct access to the beach. The beach is fun, but don't expect to be […] able to lounge and let the waves lap upon you. The beach is roughly a 20-30 degree grade down to the water and the waves crash hard. Also, beware the peddlers. If you're after a relaxing time by the water, the main pool is the way to go (the pool by the beach is more of a party scene). The food is a disappointment overall. It's less than cruise-quality (for those of you that have cruised), although it is included in the price of the resort. It's edible, but thats about it. You have to make reservations to eat in the restaurants (the food is better there vs. the buffet). Do it early because tables go fast. The drinks are included and the barkeep will pour just about anything you want. The only beer on tap is Dos XX, which was fine for us. The wine was awful, though. The service was sub-par as well. Our room wasn't serviced for 2 days after we arrived, and we asked 4 times over a 2 day period for extra pillows. Most of the staff speaks very limited English and communication can be a slight problem. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Short weekend trip"
We brought a friend down for a few days for her birthday. The hotel was ok and the food was ok. The mixed drinks were made to strong with cheap liquor so we ended up drinking beer. Compared to other places I have stayed I can only say this hotel was ok and couldn't see myself staying more than a few days. It is also our first trip to Cabo, so I didn't […] know what to expect. It is a family hotel, so expect a lot of kids in the pool splashing you and running around. The girls went to the beach where the seals were, but were wore out because the beach is so hard to walk on and had to go down a few hundred yards to catch the water taxi. The people at the front desk were not very helpful. They didn't tell us about the "Towel Cards", so when we checked out I was charged $80 for the pool towels we left in the room because we didn't turn in our "Towel Cards", that we didn't know we had to turn in. "Amazing time. Lots to do."
My son just got back from a trip with his fiance. Just raved about how great it was. Food, staff, location. Couldn't say enough good things. Said there is always something to do so the rarely left the resort. One thing to know. His girlfriend was looking at the weather and it was forecast to be partly cloudy everyday so she was worried. There were […] about 2 clouds a day for minutes. That's what they consider partly cloudy. LOL Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Hotel But would not reccomend"
This is a nice hotel but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend because I am sure there are much better ones out there. Food: The food at the buffet, I would say is better than the food at the restaurants. The service at the Buffet is also way better than at the restaurants. I would have to say that our best meal was when we ate at a restaurant in town. Staff: The […] Staff was very nice. They always seem to want to help and get you anything you needed. The only time we didn't like the staff was at the restaurants. Rooms: The rooms look nice but since everything is tile you can hear everything that is going on. If you are a light sleep plan on getting very little sleep. Also the hotel staff doesn't seems to care if people make a lot of noise at 2:00 in the morning so be ready to get woken up be a bunch of people screaming because they are totally wasted and care. The staff made is feel welcome and provided us with all the info we needed about the hotel. Pools are huge and the views of the beach is amazing. Rooms were clean and comfortable! "Riu Santa Fe Review"
The food was terrible. The buffet was loaded with greasy salty foods. It was dirty. My 13 year old son would not eat anything. The drinks are watered down. I paid for wi-fi that did not work half the time. The rooms with an ocean view are a hike to get to the hotel lobby and restaurants.... seriously far away. I don't normally use room service, however […] if you need anything, it will take over an hour for help. I would only recommend this place for college kids looking for a cheap place to party. "Not for relaxing"
It was our first stay in Riu and it was very disappointing. It is about 20 minutes from the airport and the hotel does not provide a shuttle. Checking in was prompt even though it was very crowded. We asked for a room from a quieter side of the hotel and we were provided a room right next to storage where they constantly making noise. Also the next […] room to ours was set up an employee infirmary! When we were trying to get in our room we had to scoot pass the hotels cooks and mates crowding in front of the room and watching the people taking blood pressure... When we entered our room it was dusty, smelly and dark, furnished with old and outdated furniture. Although the bed was comfortable, the pillows were stuffed with cheap foam which made you sweat and so uncomfortable. The room was facing the back side of the hotel where there was a noisy parade with employees back and forward with their squeaky carts from the early morning to late in the night. In order to make a reservation to the restaurants, you needed to go to early in the morning, wait in line and -if lucky- pick the date and choose the restaurant. We made a reservation for the Asian restaurant which was very disappointing as well. They don't serve saki, only white and red wine and beer which they serve everywhere in the resort and it is horrible by the way, Hibachi part is behind the counter and a pitiful buffet in front of it. The servers seems to rush all the time because there is not enough of them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was a great stay in Cabo! I had a great time and the food was great, especially the breakfast! I'm not too sold on wearing bracelets and making reservations for the restaurants but overall it was a good stay! "Good value for money but lacking"
Firstly we booked an 'ocean view room'. When we arrived and went to the room, there was no ocean view. Went back and complained about this and they changed the room, but still annoying as we then had to move all bags etc. Food was average. Rooms were clean but appeared outdated. Was surprised to find out the hotel opened in the early 2000's. Entertainment […] at night was mediocre. However, the Michael Jackson show was great. Absolutely ridiculous system to book a table at one of the restaurants that are not buffet. You need to line up at 8am to put in your request! We saw one man trying to check out, probably had to be at airport to catch a plane and he had to line up behind people who were wanting to put their name down for a restaurant. Out of 6 nights, we got to eat at one of the 'special restaurants' once! Beds in the room were as hard as a rock! Not what we expected from a hotel of this rate. Pillows were not comfortable. "Not what I expected."
I have been to Cabo about 7 times, usually staying at the Finesterra. However this time I opted for an All Inclusive. It was not what I expected. While it was all inclusive, to include alcohol, the food and service was less than desirable. Security at the facility, though, was good. The cleaning staff, bar tenders, and food servers were nice and the […] grounds were nice. But that's where it ends. As for the room, I had requested two beds as there were two guests, however I was told they didn't have any. In addition to that, our room AC went off every night around midnight, which led to some hot and uncomfortable nights. We advised the staff about the AC issue and they stated that there was no problem with it. However it remained inactive during the nights. And the front desk, the manager was just ok, but her staff wasn't. At one point in time I had left a note for another guest, along with their room number, advising the staff that they would come pick it up. The next day, my friends advised me that they were told there was no note. So I returned to the front desk to ask and was told the same, however I recognized the note (paper) behind a picture frame, it can only be described as hidden. They didn't seem to care, which was evident. So basically if you are looking to drink your days away, with no care and minimal comfort, then by all means have at it. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in every way except front desk staff"
This "all inclusive" place really was all inclusive. Great selection of food, drinks etc. Most staff members (maids, waiters, pool workers etc.) were awesome. Not so awesome were the folks working the front desk. They looked stressed as if they were being over-worked (which I am sure they were) and were borderline rude and apathetic most of the time […] when you went to them for an issue or a special request. "If you're a Latino, this is not the hotel for you."
When I read "all inclusive," I expected more. In terms of food, it was horrible. The beef was questionable. The cockroach in the restaurant and the child running after it to smash it in front of people eating was the last straw for me. The bartenders and some of the staff were more courteous and went out of their way to please non Latino hotel guests. […] The bad part was that they weren't even trying to hide their favoritism. They were very obvious about it. I thought I was the only one who noticed it at first, until others in my group noticed it as well. The people in front of me would get all smiles and friendly small talk. But when I was up to either get my food or drink, it was a dry "what do you want" or "here's your drink or food" - no smiles, no friendly small talk. The activities that the hotel held...well, there weren't any. Every time we walked to the main stage, there were a bunch of children running around. We didn't see any dancing, singing, or shows AT ALL. Once off the resort, we encountered the friendly people of Cabo, better food, and much better entertainment. The bed was extremely hard. If you like sleeping on rocks, then you'll love this bed. On one day, we had no cold water - just hot boiling water. I kept calling to the main office to get it fixed. They kept telling me it would be fixed within 30 minutes. Four hours letter, after washing my teeth and face with bottled water, we finally got a small stream of cold water. Not staying there again. "Exactly what I expected."
I recently returned from a week long vacation in Cabo; it was my first time there. The hotel was exactly as what was presented and as I expected. For the price, you couldn't ask for much more. The room was very clean and because I paid for an ocean view I was in building 7. The building was a bit far compared to the other units but I knew that going […] into it - you obviously have to walk to get to the beach. The AC worked fine and the room was very comfortable. The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't bad either. For an all-inclusive, it was good and there was a nice selection. I will say that it is difficult to make reservations at the specialty restaurants and that they are overrated. You can just go down there at dinner time and they will sit you as long as you are dressed right. I woke up early 3 days straight to make reservations to be told they were booked. When I finally got into the Italian restaurant and the steak house, I was disappointed at the quality of the food. The drinks were a bit weak but the bartenders made them stronger whenever I asked. There was always someone cleaning something in the resort and the staff was very nice. Overall I enjoyed staying there and I would recommend it and would certainly stay there again. "Great mid priced mid facility hotel for leisure"
night was the preferred breakfast spot because of the view of the arch. Drinks are definitely watered down, but the bar staff do their best within their resources. In summary, I would call this hotel a Carnival cruise on land. For the price, and for someone who wants to experience Mexico through a comfortable padding, I guess this is not a bad option. […] I would encourage folks to step out and spend time on Medano beach and Pelican beach, away from the pasta and pizza and pina coladas. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a rather large place, however, it is very easy to go to the pools and the restaurants, everything is central. We are a Family of four and there were several criteria that needed to be satisfied for all of us. Beachfront with a swimable beach, comfort, good food, cleanliness and nightly entertainment. This resort met all of our expectations and […] exceeded in some areas. Food in the buffet was good to great. a la cart restaurant foods were average. we tried the Asian and the Steakhouse. Don't expect steakhouse cuts of meat, more like diner quality steaks. Making reservations for the restaurants is awkward and not very friendly. You have to be in the reservation line in the lobby by 8:00 AM and it can take up to one hour to make reservations. afternoon snacks are tasty. there are plenty of fruits and veggies at the buffet. Their Gym was good with view of the pool. We did not use the spa. Taxi ride to Cabo is about $12 USD. If you are going to just buy souvenirs, buy them from the shop at the hotel, prices are reasonable. We had to bargain with the merchants in town and it was the same price as the shop at hotel. Plan your trip Accordingly. Food is not that great at this hotel. Be prepare to walk lot. This hotel is not a vacation spot, it is place to loose weight. the rooms are very far from reception and Cafeteria. Yes it is located very well location, but you can never go in a sea water because two seas are meeting near by and waves very dangerous. First time in Cabo San Lucas. Wanted the convenience of an all-inclusive and the RIU Santa Fe seemed reasonably close to downtown. Hotel is very clean, well manicured, clean pools and good staff with a few standouts in the entertainment area. Stayed in Bldg 7 with an ocean view/balcony on the 4th floor (Sprung for the extra $300 to get this). Really […] nice! There is a lunchtime cafe right downstairs open until 5:30 at which point it converts to the "steak house" restaurant. Good AC in the room, stocked fridge and bottles of rum/tequila/vodka/gin above the fridge. I only used the pools closest to the ocean. There were two swim-up bars. A bit crowded on Friday and Saturday (predictably) but never waited an unreasonable amount of time for service. The big pool area has lots of social activities during the day but it was not obnoxious. Very nice. Overall the food was okay---varied, well presented but bland in flavor. There was an occasional dish or two that stood out, but basically solid fill your belly stuff. The mexican food in the small shops back from the main streets in Cabo downtown were much better and pretty inexpensive. The beer was too warm---always too much foam in the glass and never super refreshing the way you would hope in a tropical atmosphere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not for young kids"
We decided to stay in this hotel because of the 4 star rating. I have to say this is not a family friendly hotel. My husband and I traveled with our two kids ages 3 and 4. The entire time we stayed here the elevators were not working. We were staying in the 3 floor which made it very hard to go up and down with our small children. Also, the restaurants […] in this hotel are so far away. We had to walk about 10 minutes one way just to get to the plaza. This was a lot of walking for our little ones. I can assume this would be too much for seniors as well. Staff members are ok, they will answer your questions but will not go above and beyond. pleasant resort staff, clean rooms, and the overall appearance of the resort earned a decent review on my list. The only negative thing I can talk about was the food and the drinks. The food at the buffet and at the ala carte restaurants is really bad, lacking flavor, poor quality, etc. At some times it was not even appetizing. Although there was quantity, […] the taste was worst than cafeteria food. The drinks were also made very week at every bar I went to. "Met my expectations for the money"
The hotel is what I expected for the price range. The facilities and condition were nice. Several large pools that managed to hold the large crowds well. Good location close to town. Very pretty beach but the water is too rough for swimming. That is not a big deal for me but might be for others. Service was a little slow and disappointing in the restaurants […] and bars. I would have expected quicker service and friendlier staff but again you are paying for a 3 star hotel. The rooms were spacious, beds were extremely hard, all rooms seem to have balconies. The resort is large so you have to walk a little to get from place to place. If you are traveling with a group of people and want to have a good time on a good budget. This is the place for you. If you want to have better service and be spoiled a little more... spend the extra money to stay somewhere that offers that. I was there for 6 days and was able to make reservation for only 3 of them and I had to be at the desk by 7:30am in order to be able […] to get a reservation and you can only make a reservation to one resturant at a time. "Decent hotel but can't make reservations to dine"
Came RIU Santa Fe with 10 other of my buddies for our friend's bachelor party. The resort was nice and close to the beach. Staff were friendly; especially the bartenders Monica and Elizabeth. Issues we encountered were when we tried making reservations to dine at restaurants in the resort. During our 4 nights stay there, we were only able to make 1 […] dinner reservation and we didn't even get to choose which restaurant we wanted to eat at. It seems as though they couldn't accommodate all of their guests whom wanted to dine at their restaurants. Unfortunately, we had to cab into downtown to eat. Further, when checking in, please check to see whether you received towel cards and make sure you return your towels to get your towel cards back. All 11 of us didn't bring our towels back to the towel station to retrieve our towel cards. When we checked out, they asked for our towel cards which we didn't have so they ended up charging us $20usd per towel card missing. We didn't know those were required during our check out. We just returned from the riu santa fe and we had a lot of fun. The hotel itself is a great resort but there were a few things that held us back from making it an overall rating of 5. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff is great and always keeping things clean. The fridges were always stocked and hotel is great. The problems that we encountered […] for this trip were that the drinks were watered down and all tasted the same, the food is very repetitive, and it was impossible to get reservations to the restraunts at night. our a/c in our room didn't work very well but we lived. The Beer that they served out of the kegs at the swim up bars and other bars were just plain gross. "Wonderful Summer Vacation!!!"
My husband and I had a wonderful time. This was our first time in Los Cabos. The hotel was great overall. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. We stayed in building 2 (garden view room) which was off to the corner of the resort. This is actually a plus since the rooms by the club or the pools may hear a lot […] of noise. We met up with other couples at the resort that paid for an ocean view room and they stated that they barely could see it. We didn't spend too much time in the rooms anyways so I wouldn't advise paying extra for the ocean view unless you are going to stay inside a lot. The only downfall to Building 2 is there is no elevator so we ended up having to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. However, there is someone available to assist you at the front desk but we chose not to pay for that. I was a little nervous about the food because of the reviews but overall on a scale from 1-10 I would rate it at a 7 (buffet) We made reservations once we first got there for Torte and the mexican restaurant. We were only able to go to the Mexican once due to our scheduled activities. The Mexican restaurant was actually pretty decent. I have had better Mexican food but for all inclusive it wasn't terrible. Also from speaking to others that went to all four restaurants they stated the Mexican one was the best. We tried to make reservations for the others but there was no availability. I would advise making all reservations on arrival. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
