"Great Hotel for your vacation"
Me and my husband stayed 6 nights at Hotel RIU Santa Fe at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was perfect vacation. Room was big and very clean, fridge stuffed with free drinks and we had mini bar at room. Bathroom so clean. All hotel has 5 stars from me for cleanest hotel I stayed! Night Show Entertainment and all day activities at pool 5 stars. Just couple […] feet from nice beach. (Sand is sharp but we can complain at nature) We swim in the warm sea every day from 7AM-4PM. Restaurants and food 5 stars. Great place for you and your family. "For College Students"
The food was terrible and the hotel staff is friendly but take advantage of drunk college students. All they have in the hotel mini bar is cheap tequilaGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great experience considering the size of the hotel"
For the most part everything was as expected. Enrique the bartender at the tequila bar was amazing, and the excursion staff was great. Only part i found disappointing was that our hotel safe did not work, and they did not fix it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel and outstanding service !!!"
The food in the speciality restaurants really needs improvement, especially the Italian Restaurant !!!!!! We heard nothing but great comments about the food at the Palace . Why ?????Genuine Expedia guest review
"Awesome place for a bachelor party!!!"
We had a group of 9 bachelors and had an awesome time. Pool bar was awesome right above the beach. Food isn't great, but we came to party, which this place made very easy.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed with our kids during spring break. The resort did a great job of separating the college spring breakers from the family guests. Very clean resort & exceptionally friendly staff. On one of the few swimmable beaches at Cabo.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice resort, great staff, food mediocre."
Lovely resort with a great staff - very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Close to beach with very pretty pool areas, too. Bed was hard and mini-bar wasn't stocked every 2 days as promised. However, immediately got what we asked for when we asked. Food was ok -- seemed to be the same everyday and wasn't the best tasting. Went over spring break -- […] wouldn't do that again. "Great room in the junior suite."
Don't go during spring break if you want to relax. The room was amazing and had a huge jacuzzi tub and huge tiled walk in shower. Drinks and dinner were more than adequate. Take a bubba mug so you don't have to wait in line all day. Relatively close to downtown Cabo. If you're going to be in Cabo go to Cabo Wabo. Great live music but drinks are NYC […] prices. Watch out for the kids on the street pickpockets galore. Will definitely return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent Value, staff & stay. WILL DO AGAIN!"
Been here 5 times and this was by far the best weather and overall experience. It was early spring break but the campus is so large and offers such a variety, it was for the most part easy to avoid most of that kind of nonsense. The staff was great and although tipping is not required, be generous and friendly, and you'll appreciate the welcome assitance […] when (if) needed. "First Time in Cabo"
My bf & I went to Riu to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. We'd never been to Cabo before or an all-inclusive. The food was very good and the restaurants were the cleanest for a buffet that I had ever seen. We ate at the specialty restaurants that you had to make reservations for (at like 7am in the morning). We had the Asian, Italian and Steakhouse. […] All the dinner restaurants forbid tank tops so make sure you bring something with sleeves. There isn't much to do at the Resort. They do show movies sometimes and there is a Club open from eleven till two am. We didn't go exploring although next time we will! The pools and Bars around the pools all close at 6p. The staff is soooo nice!! CON: 1. My body specifically my throat, doesn't like cheap booze and despite getting 4 bottles of alcohol complementary in our room , we didn't drink it. The only beer they serve is Dos Equis which I find to be flat but if you like it, then you get unlimited. The mixed drinks are pre-made (at least the margaritas were) and overly sweet. I coudn't even taste the alcohol. There is a Costco less than a mile away so you could get booze from there. (We should have). 2. The bed was a little hard and the nights were breezy and there is really only a bedspread in addition to the top sheet. But we found a blanket in the closet. Lastly, we just went last week thinking that Spring Break hadn't started..it had.. But at least there is the side of resort that had a pool that was a little quieter. "Great hotel right on the beach"
We had such an amazing vacation at the Riu Santa Fe. Very clean, friendly staff, beautiful landscaping, assortment of pools and really good food. I would definitely go to this hotel again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel on the beach"
Great location on the beach. Relaxing pool inside the resort and then an infinity pool on the beach that has a beautiful view of the ocean. Organization was poor at times however. Checking in was a nightmare, messed up my name and almost wasn't able to check in. Besides check-in everything else went smoothly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cand wait for the next trip back!!!!!!!"
We have become caboholics(7 trips, so far) and we couldnt think of any other hotel to spend our days in Cabo. Everybody at the hotel is always so helpfull and friendly. Location is excellent, right in front of the arc and the grounds are beautiful and very well kept.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close in location but staff sucked"
I was there on Spring Break with friends. I understand that there are a lot of other Spring Breakers however the staff was not supportive in getting dinner reservations, switching rooms or even when the toliet was clogged. It was poor customer service. For example, you could never get to the front desk or to get to housekeeping.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice clean resort with great food and location. Very close to downtown and Walmart, in case you forgot something. Staff was also very friendly! Good for family and couples alike. Very relaxing experience indeed!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Huge Hotel, well taken care of."
We went mid-March 2014. Staff was outstanding in all aspects. They were so willing to please, calls for anything was sent right up, security answered calls about late night partying (4am) and quickly shut it down. We stayed in Tower 7 (tower closest to the ocean). Great views, the best pools. There were 2 swim up bars and a huge infinity pool. Tower […] 7 is the best place to stay in the hotel. Bar staff was excellent! These people work so hard. Roberto at the main bar was terrific, kept drinks coming all night. Buffet restaurant was where we ate every night and for breakfast. Great food. Lunch was a little bland- not many choices. It is a HUGE hotel, so plan on walking a lot, but the grounds are so clean and well taken care of. I would return again. Also, don't spend tons of $$$$ trying to get to Lovers Cove and Pelican Beach. Below infinity pool is a little shop where you can catch a ride on a water taxi for $15/per person. They take you out to the cove, take pictures of arch, have glass bottom boat, drop you off at beach and pick you up when you want. IN the lobby, they tried to charge $69-109/per person for same thing. Also, jet skiing $50 for 30 minutes. (rent at beach). Really fun! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not impressed with dining and found rooms to smell"
This "All-Inclusive" has 4 restaurants you can have dinner in with menu service as opposed to just a buffet but you need reservations. We arrived on a Sunday and attempted to make reservations within an hour of our arrival. All the restaurants were full until Wednesday evening and we were leaving Wednesday morning. Needless to say, after eating at the […] dinner buffet Sunday night, we chose to take a taxi to town ($30 round trip) and purchase our dinner there instead the remainder of the trip. While it is nice for those staying an entire week to be able to make dinner reservations in advance, they should have something in place (save spots) for those who are only there a few nights as well. Frustrating. While very clean, we found our room to smell (I think it was the water used to mop the floor) and our clothes reeked when we came home. I wouldn't stay there again. "Spend your money elsewhere"
The staff was overall very friendly, but that doesn't make up for the hotels other problems. The food is terrible! Butter tastes like rubber, everything is cold, and all the liquor is cheep tequila. They even fill the vodka bottles with tequila and pretend it's vodka. As far as the room goes, it would be more comfterable sleeping on a rock. And there […] is only one plug in the bathroom, kinda inconvenient if you are a girl. I requested 2 queen beds and they gave me 1 king, when I asked for a different room they said it couldn't be done because they overbooked the hotel. I paid almost a grand for 5 nights, worst mistake of my life. Go stay at the ME hotel insted it's way better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with hard bed"
The resort it's self was nice and big. There is two different pool areas, one for relaxing the other more of a party feel. Hands down the best place to eat is at the Baja California. Nice place for families. On the downside I felt that the staff in the reception area didn't give enough info on the resort, they threw you out with the sharks to fen for […] yourself. We also called in for several items for the room and did not receive any of them from the reception staff. The A/C in the room didn't cool to great. My biggest complaint was the beds are way to hard, made it hard to sleep. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fun hotel! Great scene"
We stayed here for my 30th birthday which coincided with college spring break. The spring breakers were all at a separate pool but the whole place is a big party. "Absolutely amazing location & huge grounds"
The pools and beach really steal the show at this resort. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is probably the best I've had at an all inclusive resort. I was really pleased with our experience here.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a good time but the resort could update their beds. We had two rooms with sopposedly queen beds. The were more like something between a full and twin and hard as a rock.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Families and Spring Breakers BOTH should STAY AWAY"
Spend your money elsewhere. The "all-inclusive" appeal to this hotel is not worth it. The hotel staff were rude, unhelpful, and often condescending. From the moment we walked in the unkempt lobby to the two hours we waited to check-in (they were fixing their many booking mistakes), our gut told us to leave and never look back. We should have trusted […] this feeling. The buffet food was terrible and reservations at the "restaurants" were always "booked" by the time we went to the front desk in the AM (even when we got there at 9am...nothing was available). We ate off the resort out of necessity (so much for "all-inclusive"). The in-room bar is stocked with only tequila (in other bottles of course, but a simple taste test confirmed that the all four dispensaries were filled with tequila). Honestly, you name it and it tasted like tequila - the mojitos, the vodka-tonics, even my turkey sandwich had a vague hint of tequila. The beach was nice, crowded, but then again it is pretty difficult to mess up a view that beautiful. College-aged students beware - this is not a welcoming place for you. The police were called to cart off numerous students (they may have deserved it, but they were not refunded) from the rooms and from the beach. An angry manager marched the beach with SCISSORS looking to snip wristbands. They had such a low tolerance for any noise that, while my small children had the TV on in their room, a manager called to threaten to throw out our little "partiers"... "Great all-inclusive hotel but pools weren't heated"
Great food and liquor, employees were wonderful, gorgeous grounds and pools. Only bad thing is pools were about 75 degrees, too cold for us. So only 5% of guests used the water which is a shame. Otherwise a terrific place. It would be a 5 rating if they heated the pools.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We went for our senior spring break and had a blast. It was beyond beautiful and affordable for what we received. Even if you aren't there for spring break, the resort is so large the rowdy college students wouldn't even be noticed. They had to drag me out of there on the last day because I was refusing to leave.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel close to the beach"
I travelled with about 30 of my friends on spring break to the Riu. We were pleasantly surprised by the luxury of the rooms and entertainment provided by the staff. "Really - The Mgmt is totally inept"
We stayed a year ago at the Rui, and thought the place was GREAT for the price. Staying there a year later has completely changed our mind....It's almost like the place is starting to go bankrupt....everything was much less appealing. The first day we were there, I called at 7am to let the front desk know there was no shower curtain, the fridge was […] empty and the toilet was running... 8 hours later... still no shower curtain, the fridge was empty and now the toilet wasn't just running, it it was also stopping up. House cleaning was coming around and they took care of the first 2 requests. I called again to the front desk about the toilet and was told someone would come up to fix it. We waited around an hour, then went into Cabo. Three hours later, we come back and as we are walking down our hall - it's flooded... and the water is coming out of our room. Best we can tell from the broke language, was that maintenance attempted to fix the toilet, left and while they were gone Housekeeping saw the flooding. I am not positive, but it looked like the water must have been at least an inch or two high before they got it to stop flooding. Every towel, bedspread, sheet, piece of clothing in sight was used to mop it up. After it was all said and done, 3 pairs of shoes had been saturated. Several items of clothing, including a pair of men's Rock Revival jeans that were on the bed had been saturated. I tried getting hold of a Manager, but was told they were too busy. "Very nice resort"
We have stayed at all-inclusive resorts numerous times throughout Mexico and the Carribean and this is one of the nicer ones. Like most of the all-inclusive resorts the food gets a little bland after a while so we went into town and to the marina for a few meals. We booked a Cabo and San Jose city tour that included a glass bottom boat ride and lunch. […] The shopping mall and the restaurants at the marina are a must to visit. I was impressed that there was a Ruth's Chris restaurant at the marina, and my wife and I celebrated her birthday by having dinner there. The staff at Riu Santa Fe are among the friendliest and hard working that I have experienced. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice accommodations close to downtown Cabo"
Booked an oceanfront room at the RIU Santa Fe last August for our February 2014 visit. Upon arrival, we were informed by the on duty manager @ the Santa Fe that they were upgrading us to the RIU Palace (they obviously overbooked the Santa Fe). We asked if we'd be getting the oceanfront that we booked and paid for over @ the Palace. The manager assured […] us that we would indeed; however, that was not the case. The first room the Palace put us in overlooked a dark corner with no view of the ocean. Went back to the front desk and complained that the room wasn't what we wanted, nor paid to have; we paid for an ocean view. The hotel desk clerk apologized and gave us another room; assuring us that this room was an ocean view room. Well, no such luck! After going back to the front desk a 2nd time, they decided to send us back to our original choice @ the Santa Fe. We ended up in a room located on the side of the hotel; not direct ocean view, however, you could see the ocean. By this point in time, my husband and I just wanted to have a room! We were glad too we were at our original choice hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We've stayed at the Riu in different parts of the Carribean - this is our 3rd one. The staff here were super friendly and hardworking. ALways wanted to please. The entertainment was great. They kept the clients entertained day and night (albeit I saw similar shows at other Rius). I am always amazed at the amount of energy they have and the moods they […] express- always good. "Excellent option for all types of activities"
Loved the experience of RIU all inclusive. Perfect combination of the resort amenities like pool etc which is pretty standard along with the friendly hangout outdoor areas with live entertainment. It gave a unique sense of community and partying with others. Great place to hangout and chat and for kids to play. Had different themed shows everyday. - […] Snorkel and beach activities- specially loved the accessibility to major snorkel sides including pelican rock that is across from the beach with water taxis available on demand. Chileno and santa maria beach were 10 mins drive by road/car. - Nightlife- Other than local disco,10 mins from downtown to go to clubs like Cabo Wabo (rock with live band), Squid Roe (mainstream pop w/good dance scene) and Mandala (techno and crowded at all times). - Food- Baja buffets for breakfast and lunch were awesome. Speciality restaurants were a little disappointing. Steak house overcooked the meat consistently so order rare only. Other foods were OK. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"beautiful resort with so much to do"
We really enjoyed our stay at the RIU Santa Fe. The pools were very nice and staff was extremely helpful. Our room was beautiful inside but our view was looking out the back at a horse farm with a braking dog every night. It was at times quite smelly as well. I would highly recommend a view of the pools or ocean. I was a little disappointed that they […] offered only one type of beer (Dos Equis), I prefer light beers and found many other options off the resort but that was not part of the all inclusive, of course. It was also hard to get reservations for the restaurants. We were there during a very busy time so that may explain the wait. Overall, we will definitely be back and we had a wonderful time. "Depends on your preference"
You get what you pay for. No top shelf liquor. No service on the beach. No good snorkeling at the hotel. We caught our own taxi from the airport $110 for six of us, about a 40 minute ride. Greeted with a drink, two rooms were not ready. Had porter take all bags to one room and we were off to check the place out. We were in buildings 3,6 and 7 each […] have benefits. Rooms: were clean, big and comfortable. We kept all valuables in the safe (iPad will fit). Food: Mexican food...chips, salsa, guacamole available all the time. We mainly ate the buffet. Tried the Italian place, the filet was good, tried the prime rib at the steak place and it was not as good but still ok. There are two buffets so check both of them out as they do have different foods. Entertainment: sound system needs improvement, the shows need work. Michael was neat and the kid can dance. But the shows were not good enough to entertain me. FUN pool staff had activities daily such as yoga. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. At the beach there is no food or bar service, only a shower and water activity desk. You can't see the pool from the beach. The angle of the beach is such that it's difficult to walk the shoreline. Had red flags all but one day we were there. Nothing but sand to see if you snorkel at the hotel. We toured the Palace which is higher with a better view. Had the same liquors on their list.
