Seashell Beach Resort - Marathon

I really liked this place! Very nice room- the bed is not comfortable but having your own little patio and beach area make up for it! There are two piers outside one takes you out to the middle of the ocean. Very beautiful scenery.

My party didn't spend much time here but as a home base it did a very good job. The bedding was nice the furniture basic but in good repair and the provided very basic kitchen and cook wear. I really enjoyed staying there. We were accidentally booked in 2 hotels the same 2 nights. The manager at the Seashell graciously cancelled one of our nights. I would have preferred to stay at the Seashell but cash was an issue for us. This hotel could be so much more. The view could be breath-taking just by cleaning up the garbage at the waters edge. Kayaks were available but have to wade through ankle deep gunk to launch it. Needs lots of updating.

Was ok as a stop off for a couple of nights, but the bed/mattress was not very comfortable;well past its best and requiring replacement. The room was reasonably clean on the surface, although it would benefit from a proper deep clean and some refurbishment, decoration. Furnishings basic and old. Seashell Beach resort was just as most of the reviews described. It is a quaint little place to stay. Our room did have a fairly strong smell of mildew. But for the price and amount of time we spent there (less than 12 hours) it was ok

Hotel room was spacious and very nice, incredible view. Great location midway in the keys. the water here is very shallow and calm, unfortunately this means lots of seaweed and debris get washed on shore. Hotel does provide two piers to get out passed most of it, but not really a swimming beach. Otherwise a great spot

This place was small for the price but that’s no doubt due to its location. It had basically everything one would need but all of it well past its prime. The pots and pans had certainly seen better days as had the appliances and the rest of the dishware. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, and dents and dings and chips here and there. I liked where the property was located on the bay with 2 docks. Beautiful sunrises and access to a kayak was great too. It is next to the highway but it's hard to get away from this in the Keys. The management was very accomodating and the room was very clean. It's an older 'Keyse' property but I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is an old facility that has been upgraded. We were in a room that it's only entrance was a sliding glass door. The lock was very poor. We were concerned about security all night. The view and docks were very nice. Coffee on the beach in the morning was a nice touch. A good place for an overnight stay in the Keys.

The hotel seems like it hasn't had any maintenance done in the last 15-20 years. The sliding glass door in our room was covered with huge scratches and the rest of the room had dirt in the corners and didn't look well maintained. The bed was also pretty poor, my girlfriend and I kept rolling into the middle of the bed and both woke up with sore backs. […] The only table/chairs in the room were plastic and we weren't allowed to use anything in the kitchen. The one upside to this hotel is that it is right on the beach. There is a nice dock and table at the end of the dock where you could each lunch. Room we were in was old. Needs a lot of updating. One window screen torn. Sheets were small for bed. Bedspread old. Gap under entrance door. Windows dirty. Cleaning staff were pleasant. No lamps, light on wall had no type of cover. Outside light did not work. Not sure if a lot of places in any of the keys were any better for 100-150 a night.

A really good stay. The cottage was very clean and the staff were great, however, the only problem was that we arrived during an extremely cold spell and as there was no heating in the cottage, I felt really cold and miserable and I just coudn't warm up!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't really call this a resort-more of a quaint little place to stay. Views were awesome, though-wish it had been warmer so we could have enjoyed them more. Bed was very comfortable-we have slept in a dozen different beds during this vacation, and this one was probably the best. Really just stayed there for a night between two days in Key West.

Seashell Beach Resort is more of a Quaint older Beach Cottage than a resort. We had a two bedroom condo, with a separate hotel room that could be connected- Rooms 10 and 10A. This was perfect for our extended family of 7. The beds were King size and comfortable with very fluffy pillows. The kitchen was sufficient, as was our living area. Each bedroom […] had a separate window air conditioner, plus a fan over the bed. The view from the front facing bedroom was amazing, and all the rooms had large windows. They had plenty of beach chairs for everyone, a dock, kayaks to use free of charge, and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. Overall it was ok. Staff is friendly enough. Room wasn't as expected though, it was clean, needs some updating overall. A/C units were noisy and tried to keep up with tempurature demands...filters need to be cleaned, maybe this would help. Beach area and hammock were wonderful.

We were VERY disappointed in this hotel! The room smelled. The bedspread was stained. The bed was uncomfortable and caving in the center. We had a plastic table and two plastic lawn chairs in the room for us to sit at which were dirty. We were so disgusted with the conditions that we had to purchase a quilt to cover the bed in order to sleep in it. […] I booked two nights but left after one night. Could not take staying there another night. When we got home, our clothes and bags smelled like the room. When I went to turn in the key, still having another night, all the desk clerk said was "o.k.". I would NEVER stay there again. This hotel is not EXPEDIA caliber. The hotel is just ok. The rooms were clean, although the bathroom looks really old and not inviting at all. There is a huge problem with the wifi, the signal is very low. When we found this out, we went to the office, but there no one was there. We've tried to call the office to the phone that they are giving in their website, bit again no one answered. So […] mainly, if you have any problem, you have to wait till the morning when they reach the office to talk about it. This place reminded me of travelling Florida 45+ years ago with my family--before all the chains. Quiet, directly on the water, it was the perfect place to stay for stellar sunrises over the Atlantic. No beach, but two piers to take you out over the water. Hammocks strung between palm trees...sweet! The room was clean and furnished with a large refrigerator/freezer, […] stove, microwave, toaster, and all the things one needs to prepare and eat a few meals in. Could easily spend a week here. Due to the age of the place, the bathrooms are small, but good pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower. Bahaia Honda State park just a few miles south with the best beach in the keys. Key West about an hour away, depending on traffic. Lots of restaurants, stores, and things to do nearby in Marathon. Nice enough place...met our needs, but would not call it a "resort." Read more

If this is a 2 1/2 star rating I' m never staying in a 3 star again! It may have been a clean room but "Signature" bedding must have been straight from goodwill to the bed, pillows old flat and smelled like my grandparents. It's a small place which is fine. There was stuff that had washed up to the shore and that looked sorta trashy. We had gotten the efficiency type room it was ok. Bed was totally uncomfortable. But all in all it was ok.
