"Outside beautiful. Inside disappointing. Food yuck"
Very disappointed. Room smelled. First room the slider did not lock. Scary! Second room little better many things broken. No variety with the food hard to find something edible at meal time. Beach and pools were beautiful and the outside grounds were well maintained. I definitely would not return to this resort nor would I suggest this place to any of my friends There was absolutely nothing to do at this resort except to swim.. It really left a bad taste for me and I may never again return to Punta Cana or any other part of the Dominican Republic.

"Ok hotel,waves at beach a little rough!"
The food was mediocre,the staff was nice,you have to pay for room service not included although supposed to be all inclusive.Beware at airport;people offering deals for a "down payment".

"Nice hotel but horrible experience"
Don't go to the Dominican republic.go somewhere else this country isn't worth visiting unless you want to get sick and be bothered the whole time even at the resort the food got everyone we met sick

"BAD EXPERIENCE"
The service of reception was very slow.Took like 30 minutes to get me the room key. At the moment I took the truck to take me to room the driver notice me that he already has taken someone else to the same room.Thanks God he told me, (is about 10 minute ride to get to the room) so he went to front desk and solve the problem. The drive save my night and his services was excellent . After I got to the room the door did not want to open it took me several times to get in,it looks like it should be change. After couple of hours on the room I heard a loud noise and started looking from were was coming. It was the precondition it had some kind of malfunction and was making this noise. I went to the thermostat and turn it off and on and started working ok,until the morning when it stated again. The bathroom condition is deteriorated and food on the buffet was not good. Something else is the housekeeper open the door without knocking. Also the building were the room is located is kind of old and the painting is coming off. My suggestion is not rent this type of room and reconditioned them.

"Great pools and easy access to beach"
For the price this was definitely a great pick. The rooms weren't super fancy but were just fine. Pools, drinks, and staff were great . The buffet wasn't any good but I read the reviews before I booked and knew that going in. Overall I'd stay again!

"Horrible experience"
It was the worst hotel and service I've experienced. The fronts desk was horrible waited two hours to check in, the room was dirty and no AC, the staff wasn't as friendly and every time I asked to speak to a manager they gave me different names and said he wasn't available. I've been to many resorts in the Dominican Republic and this was the most horrible experience. Will never go back there.

It was not good they charge u 5 dollars a night for wifi and than they charge u 4 dollars a night for a safe lock than there's bugs in the room the ac wasn't even working the food was just a buffet that we all got sick of and for other food places they need a reservation or u can go to a different food places that charge you 11 dollars a person that's terrible plus the hotel is about half a mile away from the lobby we wanted to leave they had activities but they charge u 70 dollars per person for 1 and that's just for the cheap activities I do not recommend this hotel

"Where are the towels"
1- Check in staff did not advise of any activites for kids. Did not advise us of why the bellhop had to take our bags. Where the restaurants are located. did not adivse us that we had to make reservations two days in advance for certain restaurants. Wait in line between 8am and 11am to make those reservations. Where do we get the beach towels, what time the towel hut opens and closes..( dont lose your towel its a $30 fee) and ( they close the towel hut at 4... So end your day at the beach and pool early). Everyone in the lobby wants a tip.. Bring cash! 2- there is a mini club for kids... Not once did the club reps come around to the pool areas and ask kids to come play or tell anyone about the disco at night for kids... Hence only 5 kids on stage out of at least 50. There was a french tour operator that had there own mini club and were wonderful soliciting activities for both adults and children. 3- pools were cleaned by a few men scrubbing the side tiles with bleach and rinsing the brushes in the pool water. The water was cloudy everyday. 4- staff at the bar and restaurants were not friendly.. No smiles no welcome no engaging the customer.

"Great resort for a reasonable price-on the beach"
The resort itself (location and cleanliness) was amazing but the reservations for dinner options were extremely difficult to make. Buffets ended up being the only inclusive meals that we could get regular access to except for two reservations we were able to get on our 8 night stay. There were a lot of bars and they lived up to the all inclusive status as long as you don't need fancy liquor or beer. Presidente tap beer and well liquor is what u get, and as much as u can drink. Most bars also serve several coffee drinks which were excellent. The rooms were comfortable, but the doors separating rooms did not keep out any noise from their occupants. Privacy and noise were an issue. There's plenty of activity options but few that are included in the price. One very big plus was the beautiful beach. There was plenty of access no matter which room you were staying in and the warm caribbean water was just about 50 feet from the resort. Overall had a great time and would probably stay at the tropical princess again!

I went to this hotel with my family and for the most part I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. It didn't look very clean at all and I had ants by the bed and by the toilet. My sister was at a separate room and didn't get towels until the third day. The food was ok, the Brazilian restaurant was actually very good. It's not far from the beach at all which was nice.

"Close to beach, poor food and service"
Food will get you sick. No two ways about it. And staff have is very little information about hotel activities or amenities when we arrived. We had to pretty much figure it out for ourselves.

"I love this place"
This hotel is excellent. This is my second time this year staying here and the same friendly staff that I met were still there to welcome me and make me feel right at home. The food is good and so are the drinks. Staff is very professional and easy access to the beach. I wanted to throw my passport into the ocean so I can intentional stay another day.

"Please don't waste your money on this resort..."
It was a very stressful week "vacation" at the Tropical Princess in Punta Cana. The ONLY thing worthwhile in the room was the air conditioning and at this, it stopped working a few hours before I checked out. And good luck with getting in room service, good possibility you won't get it until the next day. The bed was like sleeping on a piece of sheetrock and the pillows were like made out of little bits of sheetrock. Overall, the resort was rundown, seriously need to bring it into the 21st century! Don't count on your tv working as well. If you don't mind losing sleep and some amenities, this is the place for you! If your wifi is important to you....don't stay here. There are so many guests on the one spot that you'll never get anywhere. The inclusive is fair....the pool and beach really doesn't change anywhere you go. The buffet and theme restaurants are good but you really need to know your way around....especially the themed restaurants (not that you'll be directed and be told what's what!) A bit nerve wracking overall since not many on staff spoke English, thank goodness for my children who spoke Spanish. ALSO, be very careful the time of year you go, the week I went, there were Little League baseball teams from all over South America for tournaments, so the resort was inundated with players and families...they take over the pool areas! Also, the weekends are open with "specials" for the local. So, peace and quiet, you're not going to get....

"Not worth it"
I'm not very picky, but for a vacation this hotel was disappointing. The staff was ok not great. The room was terrible! We paid $180 for an upgrade and we didnt even get a hot tub or hot water and the AC didnt really cool too much. You had to stay in line forever to get a reservation and the shuttle was very limited; you'll wait for 15-20 mins waiting for a shuttle and whenever did come mostlikely was full of people. I tried getting WIFI to contact my family and there were no routers available. Overall didnt enjoy it

"Not bad for the price"
The rooms are fine. It's the old, moldy mops the cleaning staff use to clean the floors with!! Yuck! But we didn't spend much time in the room. There was always something to do! Not far from most excursions. Buffet wasn't bad either! I actually enjoyed it eating the different types of food. Overall, I would stay again. The staff are friendly and most speak very good English. But if you're going into the city, know some basic Spanish lol

"Outdated Rooms - Unfriendly Staff"
We did not receive a King Bed as we requested and paid for when we booked with Expedia. We slept in a twin bed which was very uncomfortable. The Safe was broken and they could not repair, the AC in one of the rooms was not working and they could not repair. Bath towels (not beach towels) are hard to get, we had to ask for them almost everyday because none were left at the room, always the excuse that there were none cleaned. The Staff is in Automatic mode they have no motivation to do their job, often rude and careless; one has to almost repeat everything you ask for, if you ask for 2 coffees you get one and then you have to say "another one please" frustrating at times since we tried speaking Spanish and English and the same results in any language, many guests felt the same way. Impossible to get thru the Guest line x5000 no one ever answers. Internet in the lobby is horrible practically no WiFi, to me it was important to stay connected to work. I believe the local people are sweet and friendly but the majority of the locals that stayed at the hotel were rude and have no concept of waiting patiently in line e.g. at the buffet, they will get in front of you, jump line practically no order, at times so chaotic that we waited until it quiet down before going to eat. The guest services try to help but everything seems to depend on the "one person that is not there right now" so it takes several trips to the Guest services to get anything done (Forget trying to call x5000)

"Island life resort"
Turquoise waters, fine white sand beach, tropical flowers, mangrove forest and shady coconut trees. All in one package but strong ocean waves carried mats of brown seaweed during our stay. A hard bed and small pillow were minuses. Tough grilled beef and bony fish steaks were small part of otherwise spectacular buffet. Loved the local pineapple, papaya, and mango. Friday night was a bit noisy from guests coming from the show and disco. School is out so local families flock to the resort. Just say no to timeshare agents.

"Poor customer service and cleanliness."
From my reservation from Expedia, customer service among other things I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff was checking in and at the same time checking out and this makes the lobby a mess and very unorganized process. Also I was not offered by the hotel staff to bring my luggage to the room. When I asked one of the room service ladies walking through the hall for extra towels she answered: " we don't have sorry"! I was very disappointed, this is 2 star hotel. Finally when I arrived to the room and checked the bathroom it was not as clean as a hotel room should be.

"Disappointing"
We didn't have a good experience. We felt like hotel staff didn't want us to be there. The room assigned to my parents was not in good conditions and I tried to deviate this matter from their mind. We waited for dinner to be able to eat after check-in at 3.30pm. Overall, my family didn't enjoy the hotel. we focused on passing a good time together.

"Large resort."
I would not recommend this hotel to any american tourists that are not fluent in Spanish. I was disappointed with this resort as very few staff members spoke English. I was ignored in dining room when I made a request for water. The lobby and buffet restaurant is all open air. There are no fans, birds are flying around when you are eating as well as flies. Also, if you go here do NOT FORGET bug spray. Mosquitoes are in abundance and the gift shop wanted $22.00 dollars for a small can of Off. Not a lot of activity going on and the internet is only available in the lobby, and I could rarely get on it. The rooms are o.k. but poorly lit. This would not be a destination I would ever choose to go to again.

"Nightmare"
I will be quick. Stay out! I went to Punta Cana last year for the first time and I am not going back soon. This property is VERY nice and the staff is also VERY good - however rooms are so outdated and the worse thing is: My family and I did not feel safe in this hotel. I was about to leave after 2 days but I spoke with the staff - and stayed until the last day. I strongly believe they need to invest in safety. And please this is NOT related to staff, as once again - this is actually one of the positive things in this "resort".

"Awesome place for a vacation!!"
The staff are wonderful and try extremely hard to please the guests. There is a large variety of food available for dining in multiple restaurants and it was great for me to take a break from cooking for my family. The resort is like a tropical paradise with wildlife in abundance including birds, ducks, turtles and peacocks. They are all very tame and gentle. The peacocks even ate out of my hand! Great opportunity for walking and exercise.

"Excellent resort, nice facilities. My room just OK"
My overall experience at this resort and spa was very good. The facilities, grounds, pools, landscaping, were all excellent and very comforting. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The buffet restaurant (El Higuero) was good. The food was plentiful with nice varieties. But I cannot say the "quality" of the food was so nice, it was just OK. There were many bars in the resort serving a variety of drinks, but the alcohol was of dubious quality! I only had a few problems with my room (#3031). It had a leaking bathroom ceiling. Whenever people took shower upstairs, my bathroom ceiling leaked and dripped water! The bathroom was fitted with fixtures for handicapped people which was nice but was not needed by me. The TV in my room was fit to go to Smithsonian museum as one the first TVs that were manufactured! First there was no remote for the TV and the power button on the body of the TV was missing! When I demanded, a remote was given to me, but still the TV did not work. Eventually, a repairman was summoned, he fiddled with it for sometime, and brought back some very fuzzy images to the TV. The repairman informed me all other rooms had newer, plasma TVs except my room!! So I did not watch TV at all during my stay. TV was not essential for me. If it is essential for you, don't stay in room # 3031. Also the safe deposit locker in my room (it costs $4 extra per day) was rusty.

"Beautiful resort, okay everything else."
Most of the staff was friendly, and the resort was beautiful and clean. The room was damp constantly, from the sheets to the towels, the floor, everything. The AC didn't work. Everything else was great, beautiful beaches and pools, fun activities. Food was pretty decent and had a good variety. Unfortunately my boyfriend and I both ended up with a GI bug, but it was transient and mild.

"OK for a cheap weekend trip"
We got a great deal booking this trip 5 months in advance and during shoulder season. This is NOT a 4 star resort as rated when we booked. The grounds are kept up nicely, the lobby is open air, inviting and the only place with wifi, but a good 10 minute hike from any of the rooms no matter if you're Tropical ($ as we were) or Caribe ($$=top shelf liquor). Our room was in the 5000 block next to one of the three quieter pools. Our a/c and phone did not work but were both quickly fixed within an hour. I had read reviews over the months and most complained about the beds being very hard. I like a firm bed so wasn't expecting the rock we slept on and felt bad for thinking other reviewers were just whiners missing their pillowtops. These beds are miserable and I think the ceramic tile floor may have been softer. Other reviewers raved about the buffet and I am at a loss as to why. There were a few dishes served every night that were good, but for the most part offerings were not very tasty, if you're an adventurous eater you may be willing to try some of the "meat" dishes which my husband did, but I was vegan for the entire trip. All the staff were very friendly and despite knowing no usable Spanish my husband and I had no problem getting by. The beach is amazing and we had no problem finding loungers under the thatch umbrellas (towels on the lounger means taken, an unwritten rule that some people abuse!). A couple of days we had tolerable seaweed and rough waters.

"A whole lot of nothing"
Because my Expeida reservation wasn't honored, I was also not allowed onto the grounds. Princess check-in/securuty staff therefore wasted several valuable weekend hours of my time, while I tried to get in the hotel, and then re-booked and traveled to alternate hotel. The staff is very inconsiderate and/or or incompetant.

"Gorgeous location; subpar accommodations"
The grounds of the resort are amazing. Beautiful beach, sparkling pools, plenty of chairs, accessible bars, lush palm trees and foliage. Now, for the other part. The generic liquor, the less than fresh food, outdated rooms, slow and limited wifi, and very pushy staff that try to sell you excursions. The AC broke in our first room so we had to switch rooms half way through our stay; pack everything up and relocate. The second room was an improvement, which made me realize the first room was the shottiest one there. The staff wasn't very accommodating. When I asked questions it was either they didn't know or they passed the buck and sent me to ask someone else. Lying on the beach my relaxation was interrupted, with no exaggeration, every 5 mins by peddlers trying to sell you hats, purses or jewelry. so overall, I can find another resort with an equally amazing beach.

We had a great time! The hotel workers work hard and are there to please you with whatever you need very polite and friendly! Hotel is beautiful, The food is good the only problem was the air in our room and that was taken care of, and the other is the Internet service which sometimes works and others doesn't but overall our experience was great! The food is ok, not great. It was repetitious. Sometimes they didn't have enough soap bars or room towels. They should do something about the placing of towels on the recliners by the pool and the beach. Some people leave these towels overnight or more, monopolizing the recliners. The evening shows are second rate. The grounds are nice and the beach is great. The personnel, with some exceptions, are courteous and helpful. There are too many aggressive sales people harassing you to sell you excursions and attractions.

The room was OK, beds were really comfortable. The AC wasn't cool enough and TV was old. The liquor in the drinks felt cheap and was not good; the beer was good though. The night entertainment was good, the Lobby and Areito Distotec were the best places to be.

"Great property, poor management, mediocre service"
The resort is laid out very nicely, on a great property. It has all the necessary makings of a wonderful place. What is lacking is some clear management of staff and direction towards excellent customer service. It is not acceptable to wait 15 minutes for you coffee to arrive at breakfast because they've run out of cups or to have to wait a while for a table to be cleared. No clean beach towels at 11 am - also not acceptable. There is an abundanace of staff, but poor management, no clear systems in place and ineffective planning and no oversight result in low efficienties all across the resort.

Overall my stay was Great! Majority of the employees were amazing! Especially the buffet supervisor and his staff! They were amazing! Cleaning staff as well! The place was safe and I had a great time! Great Food and pools! Beach on Resort was great as well! The only thing that needs to be addressed are the lobby check in counter employees. Sometimes do not explain much or are undertrained! Also a few of the staff let me know they had drugs for sale! I think they were cooks, but it happened on several occasions! Very shady! Overall great place to get away and had everything I needed! Would def use this resort again!

"Wonderful 7 day vacation after a hard winter!"
I enjoyed very much my vacation at Tropical Princess! The hotel is excellent situated in an amazing tropical park with beautiful plants, flowers, birds and animals. Stuff is very friendly and buffet has a nice variety of food. They have also entertainment on the beach, in the pool and evening programs. I hope I will go back in the future!
