Maintenance of the hotel seems to be a problem. Carpets are dirty in the corridors and the room. There is no porter nor anybody to carry your luggage. Rooms need to be refurbished, overall impression of a hotel that there is not enough Staff to run the hotel and that there is no control over the staff. Our room was cleaned by 2 pm. We stayed at Hospes Amerigo during the summer solstice event, Juan Hogueres. It was an amazing time. The staff was helpful and polite. I would stay at the hotel again because of its location and its comfort. Nice rooftop restaurant. Carpet in hotel needs to be pulled up and have flooring put down. The atrium over the pool needs work.

I was really thrilled with this choice of hotel. My friend and I stayed at the apartments. The apartment is a great choice and we found the place clean, spacious, and at the perfect location near the beach. My only complaint is that despite having a third floor space, at night I could hear the people below on the streets (this is Spain and a beach destination […] so partying happens all night long). If you are a sensitive sleeper and need it quiet to sleep, then you may struggle. But if you're also partying until the early morning you may not notice... This is a charming hotel just a block back from the Esplanade and a short walk to the beach, shops, parks and several cathedrals and sights. The room was clean and well-appointed, but it was a bit noisy due to revelers in the streets below. The restaurant was superb and the terrace dining area that connects the restaurant with the hotel is a lovely […] spot for a meal. The rooftop pool was a major decision factor in staying here with my nine-year old son. Unfortunately, at the end of a long day walking around town, we arrived back to the hotel to see a sign that the pool was closed for maintenance for the remainder of our stay. I was very disappointed but the hotel manager found another nearby hotel for us with a functioning pool and took care of the reservation, paid for our taxi and picked up our room service tab. Like other reviewers I found the place to be in a convenient location and clean. Believe it or not I was in Alicante on business. Coming in the from the US and not being aware of it, I was surprised to see all the UK people in Alicante on vacation and that the place is basically a resort for working class Brits. Anyway, needless to say the place and […] this hotel is not really set up for a working trip. As a resort hotel it is probably one of the nicer ones. Close to the beach and tourist eateries. Don't expect a well appointed fitness center and amenities for business travelers there. The staff are very helpful though and its nice enough that you can make it work for work if you have to. My boyfriend and I were doing a roadtrip along the coast of Spain and we came across this hotel. We rented the apartment for a night and we enjoyed it so much we decided to stay another night. It was very clean and it had everything you could possibly need. There were even plenty of dishes and utensils to cook a nice dinner in. Staff were extremely welcoming on arrival. We booked apartment which was lovely and had everything we needed. The room was noisy at night though and we asked to move to hotel in the morning. They were very helpful and immediately changed our room to a lovely hotel room. Staff were brilliant and hotel is lovely. Inc. sushi bar and the mojitos were good […] too! The long weekend break was lovely. The harbour was very close by a couple of mins walk with a great selection of restaurants ( don't go in little Italy though as it was awful). Amerigo is well located within easy reach of the beach, marina, old town, museums and market. We also walked to the railway station and castle from there and could easily have managed the out-of-town shopping centre (if that had been our thing). My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay. On arrival the two reception ladies were particularly helpful, as were the rest of the staff, later. All the major sights were within easy walking distance. The stop for the airport shuttle bus was ~400yds from the hotel.

The hotel is generally a bit tired. It is definitely not 5 star. The carpets in the corridors and our room were filthy and stained. The room could do with an overhaul. The swimming pool is tiny and the area surrounding the pool is not very clean. We had to queue to get into breakfast and when we finally had a table we had to wait ages for a coffee, […] which was cold when it arrived, as was the cooked breakfast (which we had to pay extra for). I think the problems at breakfast were probably due to the fact that it was really busy over the Christmas period, but it was not the service we expected from what was reported to be a 5 star hotel. Clearly not a five star hotel. It has no restaurant and no tea making facilities in the rooms. The room was comfortable and we were upgraded on arrival. We had to change rooms due to an issue with the glass bathroom door, the ONLY issue with both of the rooms was the heat! The air-conditioning didn't appear to work effectively in either room and it was very noisy outside when the windows are open. Nice hotel for a quick getaway. Good location 5 mins from beach, marina and many restaurants. Highly recommend the Tribeca music bar across the St. Hotel had very good breakfast selection with amazing mini pastries. Wouldn't recommend the pool area, spa or restaurant as didn't use them.

The Amerigo is a very well-appointed hotel with good sized rooms conveniently located between Alicante old town and the sea front. Our room was right in the centre of the hotel and even had a glimpse of the harbour and out to see from the small balcony. I am not entirely sure it deserved a 5 star rating - our room lacked such luxuries as bathrobes and […] the TV was very small and had a relatively limited range of satellite channels - however the price was not that of a 5 star hotel either so you can't really complain. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful. Only downside of a room on the front was the bar opposite was very busy into the early hours - we weren't sorry to be checking out before the weekend. We were really looking forward to staying at this hotel in 5* luxury but were very disappointed by the room as it certainly didn't seem 5* standard. We book an "apartment" which was basically a small living-room, kitchenette, bedroom and ensuite. It wasn't much bigger than a double room hotel room. Booked hotel because of the 5 star rating but didnt feel it was 5 star. Pool on roof was very small and shallow and area not very inviting. I wanted a massage so asked at the desk for a menu of services, I was told it was in the room, I told them I'd looked and didnt see one and they said they didnt have one at reception. I went to a nearby salon instead. […] The salon/spa is not manned and there was a sign advising to see reception. The room was nice but not 5 star. The double bed was two singles together, made separately. The couch was dirty. TV had limited English speaking channels and pretty much nothing other than repetitive news. DVDs were available. In short I booked the hotel because after 8 months in hostels I wanted to relax and unwind by the pool and the beach and it really didnt live up to my expectations. A very central hotel in a nice town. The hotel was modern, stylshly designed and cool (in both senses!) and our attic room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The price per night was fine but 29 eurosper night for the car park was pretty steep... I suppose we could have parked more cheaply elsewhere but chose to pay for the convenience of […] parking beneath the hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and extraordinarily helpful . The only small downsides were that although the pool was nice on a hot day it was just a shallow 'dip pool' and was a little bit past it's best.
