We stay in unit # 7 with 2 bed rooms and 4 queen beds with only 1 bath room. Beds are soft. One small closet with no hangers or hooks. Good size and number of beds/bedrooms. Not enough bath room. Just enough hot water for 2-3 quick showers in a row. Full very small kitchen is convenient though appliances are really old but work. Minimal equipped and […] stocked. No dish washer, a big surprise that you have to wash by hand. However we appreciated the stocked Corelle dinnerware. Block heater in each bed rooms and living room keep the hut warm. The bath room is colder than the rest. Carpet and furniture are old and does not look very clean. The bath room needs good clean-up. That is the big disappointment. We even saw a mouse running around! Staff (Fendi) is from 8:30AM-4:30PM so you might miss him any skiing day! Very helpful, professional and will provide any missing stock (toilet paper, coffee, ...) if asked. Daily maid service if request: a plus. Real fireplace with wood provided (additional nominal charge) is a nice touch. However you have to know how to light a fire! Just get plenty of newspaper from the office. Well, I read a review beforehand stating it was very dirty... but there were also some good reviews so I thought 1 person had had a bad experience. Unfortunately, the cabin we rented was extremely off-putting - so much so that my husband and I decided to leave (which has never happened). When we first walked in I noticed 4 large windows in the cabin. […] I quickly realized that none of the blinds shut - I'm talking huge gaping gaps where anyone who was outside could see in. Both my husband and I tried to fix them, and eventually went to ask the owner to move us. He came to the room and "fixed" them (they were much better), but my husband still had to wedge newspapers into the gaps for privacy. Then, I went to take a shower... there was a paper on the toilet saying it had been sanitized, but I lifted the lid to use it and to say it politely, no, it had not been cleaned. There were also enormous amounts of dust in the TV area. I just felt gross and as if the cabin was contaminated with germs. To be fair, the cabin was spacious, there was a large fireplace, and the owner was kind. But that wasn't enough to entice us to stay. We preferred to drive 3 hours home and sleep in our own beds. Wouldn't recommend this cabin based on our experience. Read more

Surprised at the size. Great for two people. The cabin could have been a bit cleaner, but hey... it's a cabin in the woods. Had plenty of hot water and place was very warm inside.

Our stay at Timberline Lodge was pleasant. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and gave us discount tickets for ski equipment rental. The cabins were nice but the cleanliness left something to be desired. There was a sock left on the floor from a previous occupant. And I am not sure when the cabin was last vacuumed and dusted. Stayed in cabin 9. Liked: full kitchen (but terrible dish soap provided), fireplace, friendly staff Disliked: radiator not able to heat bedrooms or bathroom adequately (therefore uncomfortably cold), relatively dirty overall (e.g. hair on blankets)

We scored a mid week deal, and had an amazing time. The woman who works at the front desk was so nice. She gave us toothpaste and a nice razor upon check-in, and we could even take movies from their collection to watch in our cabins. Everytime I interacted with her, she was just the nicest woman. The beds were not the most comfortable. We had a king […] sized bed, and it felt more like a trampoline. If y husband moved, I moved like it was a waterbed. And the pillows were not very comfortable, but they did their job. The fireplace was awesome, and made up for both the bed and pillow cases. They sell logs in the room, and we had a fridge in our room we could put food in. The cabin was just so cozy and quaint. I really loved it. And the location was awesome. We were right by everything, including Alpine Slides, which have really fun tubing. My only gripe would have to be the lack of a blowdryer in the room. Not much fun to have to go out in the snow and cold weather with wet hair. But who knows, maybe if I asked the nice lady at the front desk, she would have given me one! It was a wonderful place. We stayed in Cabin 1 which had room enough for eight people. The bedrooms were spacious and so was the kitchen and living room. The bathroom was small but we didn't care about that. The outside deck overlooking the pool was a great area to hang out. We were very close to the lake. Fendi the owner was really nice and even gave […] us a goodie bag with snacks and toiletry items. He was very accomodating regarding our late check-in and even called ahead of time to make sure we were still coming up. Of course it snowed while we were there so that even made it extra special. The manager, Fendi, greeted me warmly and got me to a very clean and comfortable, wonderful cabin in a grove of trees with bbq's and picnic tables. Really nice surroundings and a short walk to a market and to the Village of Big Bear. The staff and management are so nice and helpful here. I liked it so much that i extended for another 5 nights. There […] is a fridge and microwave in all cabins and some have full kitchens and more. They have full channel line-up on tv, so you have almost 100 channels when it is not outdoor weather. Good restaurants and a great brewery are within a short walk or drive. Many hiking trails for all levels of exertion are just behind the property and all around the lake. The autumn colors were abundant and beautiful. There is a seasonal pool and they have dvd/vcr's in all rooms and they have hundreds of movies to lend. It is rustic but well kept and just what i wanted for some relaxation and quiet. I recommend this place and the area highly for a ski or fishing or hiking adventure. Just spectacular surroundings. i stayed in a single cabin with a king bed, fireplace, wall heater, microwave, fridge, expanded cable tv, floor fan, desk and chair. it was rustic but comfortable and a good value in the off-season. the owner was very nice and helpful. the pines in the evening smelled great.

If you are at all prone to Asthma, allergies or sensitive to dust, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL! The proprietor was very nice and helpful but was leaving right after we checked in. That was fine but upon entering our room we discovered it to be very dusty and musty smelling. We tried to open the windows to air it out and when I opened the curtains there […] was a wasp. Killed it, no others to speak of, it must have flown in and forgot how to get out. We dropped our bags on the bed and clouds of dust lifted into the air. We ditched the room in the hope that it would air out. We were sorely mistaken on our return. My best friend slept very poorly on account of the dust and allergies. VCR, no DVD. I can live with that, but not when the tape contastly gets stuck in the VCR when trying to eject. I was a Girl Scout for over 10 years. I'm used to roughing it, but this hotel was a big disappointment. Maid service everyday is EXTRA CHARGE! Read more

Timberline is a cool hotel option/alternative. We stayed in a cabin like building, our room was a free standing building so no shared walls with other guests = very quiet. We had planned on being outdoors the whole trip, so we only needed a place to rest up between adventures, and Timberline worked for us. Very affordable, and always ample hot water...which […] is very important to me when showering (bad experiences at other hotels around the country). I would recommend bringing your own pillow if you're picky about the comfort or softness of your pillow...and probably blanket too if it matters to you. Owner is very gracious and kind. We received free cranberry snacks, tooth paste, and had the opportunity to borrow movies if desired. The Lodge looked very nice from the outside, but I knew we were in trouble when the manager took us up a filthy stairwell to our "cabin". Very dirty and in disrepair........kitchen and bath had stuff splattered all over the walls, all the curtain rods were falling down with dirty curtains, holes in the wall had been repaired but not painted. The beds […] appeared to be clean (I checked for bed bugs!) but terribly uncomfortable. On the good side the manager was very friendly and helpful and the location was nice with a view of the lake across the street. This place is a little on the rustic side but we were just looking for a comfortable place to stay with a small kitchen so we could cook some meals. It did the job. Everything was clean. The manager went out of his way to help us and even let us borrow movies and sleds for the kids. We would definitely go back.

Our stay was very pleasant. The owner was friendly and very helpful (and gave us coupons for 1/2 off ski rentals). The cabin met our expectations, warm and cozy, with a table and chairs, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We plan on returning next time we stay in Big Bear.

The lodge was very clean and the staff was helpful. The room was so nice, for the price, that we ended up booking an additional night right on the spot. The bed was comfortable and I was glad to see the microwave and fridge. You can't do any better for these amenities for this price range. We would definitely come back!

The location is walking distance to the alpine mountain slide place, and a short drive to big bear village and snow summit, the room had a very nice fireplace with instructions and supplies in the room, using a bundle of wood only cost $6, I would definitely stay here again sometime […] soon, our cabin was clean with a rustic old feel. This hotel is in the edge of the town as you drive into Big Bear Lake. The lake is right across the road on a 2 minute walk. The Alpine slide is about 5 min walk only. Con: Nothing special, a bed to sleep in for the night. I chose this location because I had to stay a week for business, and knew the cabin had full kitchen. It is not the cleanest. Pro: it is located close to town and the lake.

During two nights stay, it was very comportable. The owener was very kind and he paid all attention to manange his cabin. Wireless Internet and cable TV services were availble so my children were enjoyed. Near neighborhood, they were very quiete and I couldn't hear any nosie because of separated cabins.

I can't begin to explain all I endured on my getaway here in Big Bear. The entire stay was the most memorable time I have ever had. I plan on making the Timberline Lodge my #1 place to stay from now on. The atmosphere, owner, housekeeping and the guests we talked with were all on my list of the best!

Overall the stay was good. The room was a stand alone unit which was nice. Dog friendly for not much more. Location was a bit eastward of where I would have preffered to stay, but it was a nice hotel. Would recommend.
