Our room was well appointed and clean, but the much-needed air conditioner in our room was malfunctioning and had to be left off. We had a nice lap pool outside of our back terrace and there is a full-size pool near the large on-site restaurant. There is a new hotel wing being constructed, which has eliminated much-needed parking space and is causing some noise and inconvenience.

The staff were helpful, polite and professional, but the hotel suffers from poor maintenance. There is a new wing under construction.

We want to share how happy we have been for the two weeks we decided spend in the beautiful quiet town of Manuel Antonio at the Best Western Villas Lirio. The team at the hotel from every position are quite genuine with their kindness. They knew more English than we did Spanish and whether we need a light bulb changed or how to catch the bus back to San Jose, the staff here made sure we were always traveling with information and resolving and request we needed within minutes. We arrived here at 9 PM with little idea (other than online research and a call to the hotel) on what to expect the hotel to look like. After a 17 hour journey from Toronto (from locking our front back in Canada) were were thrilled at the beauty of the hotel. The room was to perfection. All the maple wood ceilings were polished regularly as well as the floors washed daily, the entire property always smelling fresh! A dream patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean as well as two swimming pools on the hotel property, and we got the package that included breakfast in the gorgeous restaurant that looked as though it was buried in its own private rainforest. We had dinner in the restaurant and perfection was the minimal standard in presentation, flavor, and service far better than anything I've had back home in Toronto! The bus stop (only 75 cents US a on average a ride per person to the beach or the city of Qurpos!) and two grocery stores just footstep

"Unusual hotel configuration"
06/29/15 TOM-LINDAS Danville, Illinois
The hotel was built on a slope with a lot of steps and plants once you entered the area. It was a beautiful setting with 2 nice pools. There was an odor problem when we were there due to some construction or maintenance. This was not noticeable in the rooms once the windows were closed and the air conditioning turned on. Wifi in our room was good. Our room was large with 2 beds but there was a table in the way by the door, making the bed on that side of the room difficult to negotiate. The bathroom was nice with 2 sinks and a nice shower. Breakfast was OK but the fruit was not as fresh as it had been at the previous hotels that we had stayed in Costa Rica. There is a market nearby but it wasn't easy to walk in the area outside the hotel due to the lack of sidewalks in some areas. It is very close to the Manuel Antonio National Park.

"The Staff made our stay extra pleasant"

We found the staff at Villa Lirio very accommodating and super friendly. Our reservation was for 2 day with 2 open days and we decided to spend the extra days there because of the location and really loved the hotel. Looking forward going back there soon.

"Hotel has an amazing design built on a hill and close to Manuel Antonio National Park"
06/20/15 Judi L Denver, Colorado
Great location and very close to the park. The hotel has a lot of winding steps, two pools. Food was excellent. Wi-Fi in the rooms, but we were up high and had to use the lobby or pool. In room safe. Food was excellent, the staff very nice, and there was a great happy hour in the bar. We were upgraded and our room was huge. Two sinks, a very large shower, and modern design. Rooms were extremely clean. The hotel provided free beach towels for the beach inside the national park. I thought this was a nice touch.

"Great service"

Good location near the park. Two pools. Hot tub, but it didn't have any water in it when I was there. Restaurant & bar area. Nice sized rooms. If you are there during the day, can be a little noisy as they are doing some maintenance in a couple areas. Staff were very pleasant. Happy hour deals in the bar.

"Amazing staff & great breakfast!"
05/27/15 Kaitlin M
We were greeted by Andre who was professional and amicable, very friendly guy who went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect for us. The room itself was beautiful & clean. The breakfast that was included was wonderful, you had the option of the continental breakfast (toast w. jam, butter & fruits) or tico (rice with beans & plantain with eggs). Great way to start off your day, fresh good tasting food and wonderful waiter. Loved the hotel and it's staff. Wifi was a bit spotty in our room but nothing too serious. The location is also excellent!

"Medum size rooms"
05/25/15 SEPROTUR C Heredia, Heredia, Costa Rica
Small hotel with two swimming pools and small restaurant, parking area is very small and sometimes cars must stay outside the hotel overnight because there is not room enough. Too noisy, they are building inside their garden seems like more rooms and there is no stop all the way to late in the afternoon sometimes around 6:00 pm or more. Got to be careful with the laundry service, tend to loose items sometimes and not resolving complaints. Food at the restaurant/bar is good, as long you order a la cart, included breakfast is terrible, not many choices. Conveniently located near Manuel Antonio National park and Manuel Antonio public beach. Many activities can be arranged from here, fishing, canopy, nature tours, etc.

"ok...I guess, can't really get much better for that price range"
05/25/15 Karen B Sudbury, Canada
Pros: Hotel rooms were clean, our room was great, it had an excellent view and was quite large. The staff were very very nice, and always accommodating. The food was ok at the restaurant (a bit on the expensive side). It was very easy to get to the beach using the bus for only 320 colones. Cons: The air conditioner didn't work very well once it got to early in the morning, I guess it tired out after a few hrs of use. The internet was slow at best, but it was free. We could only have one key for a room with three people in it it. Every time we tried to activate a new one, the previous one would be deactivated.. it was very annoying. No hot water at 7:00 am... shower at times when not everyone would be showering and you should be fine. Overall this place is quite average, maybe a little run down, but I doubt you could find much better for the price on the strip to manuel, and the staff are very friendly, and I would say the best part of staying there.

"Comfortable hotel, good location"
04/12/15 jethro11 Owensboro,KY
We stayed here for 1 day during our trip to Manuel Antonio in April 2015. We requested a room with 2 beds and management accommodated our request which doesn't always happen. The hotel has free parking which is limited and on extremely steep slope. Free internet and a complimentary breakfast is provided which is delicious. The swimming pool just outside the rooms was beautiful and a pleasant respite from the heat and humidity. The rooms itself were comfortable with TV, coffee maker, fridge and microwave The breakfast in the restaurant in the morning was nice (fresh fruit, eggs, rice and beans, fruit juices, coffee, baked goods, oatmeal etc). The restarant had nice views of the hotel and we enjoyed the ambience which almost felt like we were in a tree house!

"Nice hotel with amazing staff."
04/07/15 Alvaro C Cartago, Costa Rica
I stayed in this hotel for one night with some friends. The hotel is very nice, with a lot of paintings and sculptures in the rooms and hallways. The rooms were really comfortable, with a small fridge, A/C, TV, and safe box. There are two pools in the hotel and basically everything was nice enough. But what really impressed me was the staff, they were incredibly helpful and amicable. They did everything and beyond to answer our requests. Being that we are locals, staying only for one night, I found this level of attention extraordinary and admirable, and can't recommend enough this hotel.

"Nice place, well situated"
03/31/15 Yehuda70 Kokhav Yair
This is a nice hotel and very well situated for a visit of Manuael Antonio National Park or the shore of the Pacific Ocean and there is also a nice swimming pool available. Although not really modern, my room had a double bed (for one person) and did not lack any of the usual amenities, including flat screen TV, hair dryer, air conditioning, etc. Breakfast was good, but bread was scarce as in most hotels in Costa Rica. The staff was polite and helpful and the general athmosphere was friendly.
