"Good Locaton, Good Price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel was adequate and the location convenient for the event I attended. The price was reasonable. I appreciated the free continental breakfast. The breakfast room--an interior room without windows--is small and was crowded both days I was there. Alternate seating is in the more pleasant lobby with windows! Also at this Best Western, unlike at other BWs where I've stayed, the towels noticeably scratchy, not soft, are either old or require different laundering.
"Good food around the hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
They were very friendly and close to everthing, walked all weekend, loved it
"The Best Hotel on Ocean Beach"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This might be the nicest hotel based right on the ocean at Ocean Beach. The staff was very helpful, the room immaculate, and the location second to none. I've stayed at a number of hotels in the area, but I won't stay anywhere but here in the future. You can't go wrong with an ocean front suite!

San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.

A good place to stay, but the beds are hard.
Our room overlooked the pool (the awesomest pool in San Diego). The beds were hard. The cleaning staff left pillow covers in our room on the last day of our stay. We were close to tons of shops and resturants. The zoo was five minutes away, seaworld was fifteen, and legoland was thirty. The resturant in the lobby called Mary Jane had a great breakf […] ast. "Loved the Hard Rock in downtown San Diego"
Great Location! Extremely friendly & accommodating staff Beautiful Hotel and Rooms
"Awesome Getaway"
Hard Rock was in a great location with tons of stuff to see and do in walking distance. Also the hotel hthe probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

"Hard Rock Hotel San Diego - sad reality TV-like"
I stay in numerous hotels around the world and the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego comes the closest to being a reality TV show - it was really that bad. Biggest issue was the incompetence of the staff - as one example, they cleaned my room BEFORE I had even left, threw out numerous important and valuable items and then could only recover some of my items […] from the trash. Management was useless and very little help - could not get a good reason as to why this happened. However there is one good feature of the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego - there are LOTS of hotels nearby and so you actually do not have to stay there. If ALL of the hotels are fully booked and you must, just interact with the staff as little as possible, put out the do not disturb sign all the time and clean your own room - only way to stop becoming an unwilling member of a reality TV-like organization. Impecable service and the rooms were very big and modern. We will be staying there again!

"Just as expected"
I feel silly giving all 5s to this place but I cannot think of any area that was disappointing. It is certainly a little pricey, but if you are looking for a high quality hotel in the heart of a nice, urban entertainment district you are going to pay for it...don't forget about the 35 dollar parking fee when you are budgeting. I suppose you could try […] to find parking somewhere nearby, but I wasn't familiar with the area. The hotel was spotless, the furnishings were ultra modern and comfortable, and the grilled cheese at 1am was worth the twenty bucks. We had breakfast at Mary Jane's and it was very good, too. We almost missed it on the menu, but the will make you a cappuccino or mocha with your breakfast instead of regular coffee...if that is your thing. Overall, perfect spot if you don't mind spending a bit for a nice night or two in the gaslight district. Read more
"Cool for cool sake"
Hip. Very hip. And if that's what ur looking for, go all in. They give you VIP passes to there clubs, rooms are gussied up, and staff is very nice. I wish the location was three blocks north toward the bulk of the fun in the gaslamp, but that's a very small gripe. Overall if you can get a good deal on a room snag it.

"Very Happy"
My husband and I stayed at the Hard Rock in San Diego over the New Years weekend and were very happy. There is a train that goes through there so if your a light sleeper, it might not be for you but this was my only complaint so I think it was an enjoyable stay.

"Hard Rock Downtown San Diego"
Beautiful hotel! I had the king suite and couldn't imagine a better room for the price. However it was discounted for that particular night. If you like night life this place is for you. Many different restaurants and clubs on site. Great location if you want to venture out and walk around too! Downfall is that it is pretty loud and a lot of people […] friday and saturday nights but that's hard rock for ya! Read more
"Up all night"
I typically enjoy HR Hotels. On this night in San Diego, the hotel's fire alarm went off about every ten minutes. All were false alarms and the staff seemed unfazed. I had a busy day that day and a really busy day following. I got next to no sleep because of that alarm...and never got so much as an apology from the staff.
"Hard Rock Hotel"
Overall a good place to stay. Easy stroll to nearby restaurants and the fire pits at the fourth floor bar are nice. The bar employees were a little wrapped up in their own world and not paying attention but that's the nature of 20 somethings. The front door staff and valet employees were very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I'd give the 4th floor […] bar employees 3/5 and the everyone else 5/5 stars. The room was nice. The bed was comfortable and the AC unit quiet. You can hear the music thumping until early morning so if you're a light sleeper then probably not the place for you. The shower was nice and big but a late AM shower had only luck warm water. I'd stay there again and recommend the hotel to others. Read more
"Design takes away comfort and design"
Ok so if you are going to a Bachelor party or having an all male party that does not care about service or price the Hard Rock would be a great place. Service is horrible and all high pricing from the Hotel casual burger joint to the hidden on call staffed SPA is way OVER rated. But the modern new design is nice to look at but nothing about the hotel […] is comfortable. The limo/taxi drivers were very friendly, helpful and affordable. Read more
our tv was broken and there was dirty clothes left in the room from the previous guests.

Great location - My room overlooked the pool!

"Funnest hotel in the world"
The Hard Rock Hotel San Diego is an adventure every time I stay there. The design is spectacular, and the hotel turns into party central every weekend night. If you want peace and tranquility, this is not for you. If you like the night life, and appreciate forward thinking design, you've found it. My only minor complaint is that my room was not available […] when promised. I've been all over the world, and this is still my favorite hotel. Read more

"Rock Star Hotel"
I booked a studio king for a Friday night in October, 2011. This place just exudes cool. You feel cool staying there, or just hanging out in any of the hotel's public spaces. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The rain shower was huge. The staff was very nice, very attentive, and made me feel like my every request was their top priority, […] even if it was just a pitcher of ice water at 3am (WARNING - this hotel might make you need a pitcher of ice water at 3am). This is not a place for peace and quiet, it's not a place for families or small childeren. This is a place for you to go and party like a rockstar. Float (the poolbar) was hip and sexy, and you get a VIP entrance if you are staying at the hotel. The location is perfect, and everything in the Gaslamp Quarter is just steps from you. If you want to feel hip and sexy, stay here. Read more

"Great location"
Hard Rock is in a great location and transforms into a night club/bar scene at night with the option of bottle service. Some rooms can be a bit noisy at night depending on where your room is. Mine was fine but I can sleep through anything. The cushions in the downstairs bar were in need of replacement as they were cracked. This surprised me because […] I consider this to be a little more upscale than that but I guess since it is a bar and people may be harder on them, they aren't too concerned with how they look. I didn't love the shower only room. The showers did have 2 shower heads but not the best water pressure and not a lot of storage for shower items. I heard some rooms have frosted glass bathroom doors so if you like a lot of privacy then you might ask about that when booking. Mine did not but a friend's did and we both booked on hotels.com. Overall my stay was pleasant and I would stay here again. Read more
"San Diego HRH"
Great location, a bit pricey but if you want the night life and not have to walk too far, its great.
"Trendy Hotel"
The Hard Rock is a fun and young place to stay. It's not a hotel for family's with kids. All of the hotel staff was outstanding!! We had a room with a view of the pool area. They had intervention going on, so we didn't even need a ticket to partake. Just open the window! To park at the hotel is $35. They have a mini bar and fridge in the room. The rooms […] are stylish and the beds are sooo comfortable! The location is perfect to walk to shopping, resturants/bars and petco park. I would stay here again and again!! Read more
"Cool but annoying"
So it was a cool hotel and the staff and rooms were great but it was so noisy! We could hear every word of the music playing in the club downstairs until it closed down past 2. Not a problem if you are up which we were one night, but it is when you need to catch a flight the next day. They need to better insulate the rooms. For a Sunday night much past […] midnight the noise was ridiculously. Overall nice hotel with a party atmosphere but your chances of getting any sleep before 2am are slim to none. Read more
"Hard Rock !"
This Hotel ROCKS.
"Read the fine print"
We paid the extra money for the rock star suite. Hotels.com room description is the same for many of the rooms, so i looked at the hard rocks room descriptions before I decided to pay the extra cash. We checked into our room. What the hotel was saying was a rock star suite was more like their hard rock suite to the T by its room description on their […] site. We would have been better paying less for the woodstock suite and had a nice balcony with a view. The hotel tried to switch or room but had nothing else available. The hotel is nice and the atmosphere is awesome. I just wish that hotels.com and the hard rock had better communication a so the guest get what they believe they are paying for. Read more

"Rockin' place to stay!"
Continually impressed with the quality of the finishes throughout the hotel. No expense was spared. The roof top bar, Float, is a must day or night. Will not think twice about staying here again...and any other HR hotel for that matter. Highly recommended.

"Good location, some issues"
There were a few nuisance items (i.e. Shower leak needed two towels in front of door each time to minimize water from shower to floor; also it is bit difficult to enter/exit the hotel at night since the hotel turns itself into a night club and lines trying to get into the clubs seem to trump guests) Also, the add-ons seemed to be a bit extreme (i.e. […] no parking except valet and this was a daily charge of $35 where you could self park across the street for less than $15 for entire night) All in all the location and activity options plus reasonably friendly staff made it a worthwhile hotel choice. The items are worth mentioning as they could have a much more satisfying business if a few items were addressed. Read more
"AWESOME LOCATION"
I was mainly there for work at the convention center, which is right across the street (literally). Location was great because it had a lot of nice restaurants and bars all around. The Hard Rock employees were all so friendly and wonderful, especially the valet people, door man and escorts/helpers. I attended their complimentary party to the lounge […] right on the 1st floor and it was a lot of fun. The rooms are very comfortable and service is great. The only thing I would not recommend is, if you're going with a family or you're looking for a quiet nice hotel, don't go here. The weekends are full of parties and loud/drunk people. Not family/kid friendly at all but great for young party people. :) The pool is also nice with a bar outdoors with plenty of outdoor seats. Overall, it was all great~. Read more

"Great, but noisy on Saturday Night"
This is my second time staying at this hotel. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is great and the rooms are really comfortable. The only drawback is trying to get an uninterrupted night of sleep on Saturday night. But, then at a hotel called the "Hard Rock," what do you expect? I'll definitely stay again as long as its not over the weekend!
"conflicted"
The hotel is clean and trendy and fun on party weekends. The location is great. We parked across the street at the Ace parking lot because it was much cheaper than the hotel parking. But, the pool totally sucks. It's small, shallow and the water was a little murky. The bathroom looks nice, but is not private since the door is a sliding door.
