Really enjoyed our stay. It was clean, quiet, close to the beach and comfortable. This is an older mom & pop motel. Nothing fancy, but the shower was good, the bed was nice, very large closet area, a two minute walk to the beach and everything was very clean.

Wonderful location in upscale neighborhood. Directly across the street from beach, pool, concessions. Old FL motel, shows pride in ownership. Lovely paintings on walls, but do not expect the Ritz. Nice clientele who visit in the courtyard and some who have been coming back for many years.

We had a quality apartment just across from the pool and beach, and only a few blocks from the shops and boutiques of St. Armand's Circle. The management was very friendly and accommodating; they even sent back an item over the mail which we forgot to pack! The benefit of having a refrigerator you can stock with supplies for day trips is invaluable, […] and the charming town of Sarasota is nearby where you can obtain food and groceries. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Gulfside Motel. We were a three minute walk from a quiet stretch of beach, and just a 10 minute walk from St. Armands Circle. We stayed in a studio apartment, and it had everything we needed. The full size refrigerator was a huge plus. We even grilled steaks on the gas grill in the courtyard on one of our nights. […] It is an older motel with an "old Florida" charm. This is not a resort. If you want to stay in a resort, the hotel across the street would suit you better for around $250 a night. Parking was a breeze, the manager was extremely helpful and polite, and the area is completely safe for walking at night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I cannot wait for our next stay. Please see my review on Tripadvisor. In summary, you get what you pay for, that's for certain. Good news it's cheap, with emphasis on cheap and it's close to the beach. We made the mistake of going here just to save a few $$ and lesson learned. The place has not seen upgrade in YEARS. If you want a restful night of sleep, don't go here!

Quiet place, No bugs, No mosquitoes, Good location. Linens are worn out but clean. The bed need's to be renewed .Conditioning is poor. Over all I would visit it again ( but not in Summer ). Pretty good for that the price !!!

There was a lot of deferred maintainence. It was dirty and all the furniture needed replacing. The courtyard needed attention. There is no manager on the premisis and no maid service. Although the location is great, my advice is to pay more money and stay in a decent place.

This motel is affordable but you get what you pay for. No room cleaning during your stay, towels had some stains, not enough toilet paper, sand all over the floor after a couple days at the beach. The location is excellent, just a block from the beach, but next time I will pay a little more to have better amenities!

Perfect for a single person /couple with other activities away from motel. No amenities available at this motel (excep free wifi). This place is a great place to sleep , and across the street from the gulf for that quick early morning or late evening swim . Good price and value on lido key.

My main goal was to sit on the beach, read and be able to walk to restaurants Gulfside Motel was ideal. I am a long distance runner, too, and the road the motel is on ends at a beachside park. Very safe area! I almost don't want this modest place to be too well known:)

While this Motel was old Florida with a great location, I would not stay there again. No one in office to give me key. Had to wait for Manager to return. The linens were so old and pilled it was like sleeping on pebbles, pillows flat and the matress springs in your back., completed the nightmare. Rusty refridgerator and stove, saggy couch. I understand it was inexpensive and across from the beach, but we have stayed in many other old Florida motels, in the same area for close to the same amount and were not displeased. This accomodation was great; if you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in a prime location with very clean linens, bathroom, & kitchenette, look no further. Never seen or heard from any motel employee our whole stay. No housekeeping service offered, we even had to take out our own trash as we left. Nice location to beach & eateries. Probably will not return.

Our stay at the Gulfside Motel was fine. We were in town for a weekend of recreation at the Myakka River State Park and needed a place with easy access to the car for all our gear and also wanted an efficiency unit for quick meals and re-heating our leftovers. We were able to park our bikes out front of our room and had no problem making the short walk […] to the beach as well. We also walked to St. Armands Circle to check out the shops and dine. The Gulfside is adequate if you just need a quiet place to sleep. Yes, the bed could have been more comfortable but that would be my only complaint. You really can't beat the price and if you plan on venturing out during the days then this is a fine place to use as home base. It reminded me a lot of the places we stayed as kids during summer travels with mom and dad. Read more

This is a small motel on a side street on Lido Key, just a block from the beach. The location can't be beat. The studio size room, which I had, is spacious. The impression is of a clean, well-lighted place, as my friend put it when she saw it. She preferred it to a small condo she was staying in. There were a few issues, though, mostly having to do […] with housekeeping, or lack thereof. Though the room was basically clean, I found some items from a previous occupant that hadn't been cleared out of a drawer; then there was no sign of any housekeeping at all for the week. Gulf side is a perfect, cute spot to spend time. The rooms have everything you need, the owner was very welcoming and was willing to answer all our questions that we had throughout our stay. As well, the ocean was literally a 3 minute walk. I would go back again :)

All the sinks had bad drainage, when using the shower we were standing in water all the time.The office was hardly ever manned & there wasn't a hairdryer or an iron & we contacted the owner who lived next door about this fact & he said he didn't supply these items because they would affect the electricity supply. What a dump! Dirty room, no maid service, the manager was unpleasant. I asked for more towels but they don't do that. I got one stained towel for the bath and two beach towels for 5 nights. You could see through the sheets they were that thread bare and pilled. The pillows and mattress were so old they must have dated back to the 70's.
