Only thing I could find to complain about was they have no safe in the room and theses days I feel it a necessary evil also very small old tv, otherwise a good overall central hotel.

Owned by a company called ‘Modern Hotels’ the Metropole was a far cry from our expectations, with bedrooms as outdated as their marketing. The Metropole was your stereotypical elderly hotel from flowery wall paper and rose scented shampoo to on hand mobility scooters. Not however so appropriate for a young couple over to interview acts at the local […] festival. Our first disappointment came from the fact the hotel looked very different to the images on the site and although our room was a reasonable size, was filled with hideous décor that instantly aged you by 40 years. The lack of attention to detail was clearly apparent with a view of discarded paint pots out the window and a kettle that couldn’t fit under the tap. Highly unsuitable for anyone wanting the treat of a lie in with breakfast finishing at 9:30am. However, although the bedrooms could do with some major restyling it was all kept very clean with helpful staff. It was also in a great location - only a 5 minute walk into the St. Helier high street. To sum up it was the perfect accommodation for anyone over 65 who’s idea of entertainment is lounging and bingo. Read more

I would say that this hotel has seen better days, but I'm not at all sure that it has. At a guess, the hotel was designed in the 1970s and judging by the threadbare state of the sheets on my bed, practically transparent with wear, not a great deal has changed. The decor is ancient and faded throughout the hotel, with aged carpets on the floors and worn […] wallpaper. The bathroom in my room was new, however, and spotlessly clean. The biggest surprise was at breakfast. When I entered the dining room, there didn't seem to be any staff about, so I seated myself at the least repellent table, next to a window covered with a film of grease. As I was eating my cold croissant, I was approached by a waiter with a clipboard who informed me that I was sitting at someone else's table. It turns out that there is pre-assigned seating at breakfast - utterly bizarre. The breakfast itself was disappointing: a pale, salty sausage, a flaccid hash brown, some anaemic bacon and the whole lot drenched in baked beans. I didn't get the chance to have dinner at the hotel on my first night, since I arrived from the airport at about 8.30pm and the kitchen had closed by then. But in any case, you're supposed to order your dinner by 4pm from reception (yes, really). The whole place was so terrible that I checked out after a single night. My Jersey friends told me that this is where all the old people stay, so if that's you, you will no doubt have a lovely time here. I did not. Read more

We found the hotel in a good location and a pleasnt walk to the town centre.The staff were all helpful and friendly. However the fitness centre equipment is very old and all needs to be replaced. The breakfast was average and we chose not have the evening meal.Would suggest elder people not to have a fourth floor room as there is a 5 minute walk up […] several staircases. I travelled to Jersey with my two children and for us, this hotel worked well. Being close to the town and beach but having the option of swimming or games room was convienient. There is a number of older guests and the evening entertainment is geared towards them (bingo, Rock n roll night) but this didn't really bother us as we just did our own thing […] and it being quiet and calm suited us. The lunch time menu is v adequent (sandwiches,burgers, salad) and the service good at the cafe. The food at dinner was disappointing so we only ate there on 2 nights. Again, breakfast abit disappointing. I don't think it is cooked fresh, my poached eggs were like hard-boiled eggs, I think they'd been sitting around awhile. The surroundings are lovely and the hotel was very clean. Staff looked happy and were polite. Room was nice although it got very hot. The children who are 14 and 11 really enjoyed it there and we would go back. Read more

Hotel very good, staff brilliant especially our waiter Manuel who was good fun, the only critisism was the entertainment was geared to the older generation and I think they should have a mixture of music from the 1970's and 1980's. Also should have a larger games room or better selection of games machines for the kids.

When we arrived the hotel the receptionist said we had to pay for our stay even though we had paid in full at time of booking to Expedia. She was adament even though I showed her the emails from you confirming full payment. It was very embarassing but when another receptionist appeared she confirmed that Expedia had an account with the hotel.

Large room and bathroom, clean and comfortable. Short walk from town, in nice quiet area. Good food places nearby. Breakfast is fine, coffee not the best but can't complain otherwise. Nice staff, friendly and helpful.

I stort sett ett bra hotell, vi sov gott och frukosten smakade bra, lite dålig service ibland där. Trevlig personal i övrigt, blev en miss när vi bokade transfer till flyget när vi skulle åka hem, Personen som jag pratade med vid bokningen verkade inte veta hur det fungerade. Sen en nackdel till, det stod att dom hade ett fungerande internet. Men det […] fungerade bara nere i Lobbyn och inte på rummet, ska man arbeta på sin resa är det bra att det informeras om sådant. Nous avons séjourné 3 jours à l'hôtel Métropole et cela a été un enchantement. Nous avons été très agréablement surpris par la qualité de cet hôtel (très bon rapport qualité/prix). Les chambres sont grandes, les salles de bains aussi et le tout d'une propreté irréprochable. Côté services, rien à redire non plus si ce n'est une certaines raideur de la […] part des serveurs en salle à manger. Par contre, la nourriture est très bonne et copieuse. Côté installations, nous avons bien apprécié la piscine (intérieure) le spa et le sauna. Nos enfants ont aussi aimé le fait de pouvoir utiliser les ordinateurs de l'hôtel (avec accès internet gratuit) Bref que du bonheur. Nous conseillons vivement cet hôtel. Read more
