Edenia had beautiful views of the lake, all around gorgeous location. The staff was very helpful, opening breakfast early for us, packing up medialunas, calling tour companies, etc. Rooms were nice and comfortable. After days of hiking and glaciers, it would have been great to have a hot tub or some other comfortable area to hang out, relax, and enjoy some wine, but the lobby area was nice and the rooms were spacious enough that we didn't mind hanging out in there. The hotel is a bit far from town...10-15 min / ~$8 cab ride. There's a shuttle, but not first thing in the morning, and many tour groups won't pick up here.

Could have been the best hotel in town, but not. The hotel has the best view of calafate and the best building in town. Unfortunately it is completlly secluded from town and there is nothing to do around, unless you jog in which case this place has the most beautifull views and dirt roads to do so. The restaurant within the hotel and the only option of food in the surrounding neighborhood is uneatable. Some of the restaurant staff is unwelcoming and at sometimes even rude. The beds and pillows are hard, not very rest full after long day trips.

Great service (Cecilia was very helpful), nice rooms, fabulous views of Lago Argentino. Four miles from El Calafate but hourly shuttle from 10 to 10 helps. The main issue is the thin walls so make sure you get a room with no adjacent room on the "bed" side of the room.

Nice place to stay but it's pretty far out from the center of town. The hotel offers hourly shuttles to town, but they don't let you take luggage on the shuttle. So if you were planning to take the shuttle to town before going to the bus station... you can't. Cab to the center of town can be booked thru front desk. Otherwise, the staff is super friendly and very helpful with answering questions, helping to book cabs, and even exchanging small amount of USD to pesos. Wifi worked throughout hotel.

Edenia is located outside of the main El Calafate town, but it is in a great location on top of a hillside with a beautiful view of Lake Argentina. They have a shuttle that runs from 11 am or so until 10:30 pm to the center of town, which we found to be convenient. You could also walk to town, which is about a 30 min walk. We personally enjoyed staying outside of the main town, which is full of tourists and very busy. We loved our view of the lake, and slept with our windows open every night. If you want to stay here, be sure to request a lakeview room.

Great place to stay in El Calafate. Nice Hotel. Excellent Service. The staff made you feel at home. The manager helped us in many ways. She was really the best ! She helped us with our tour problems. She secured a car for us when everywhere we tried there we none available. She made sure every detail of our stay was taken care of. The hotel is situated on a hill a short distance from town overlooking the lake. It has a spectacular view. We will stay here again when in El Calafate.

Over-all, a good hotel to stay at if you have a car since it is located about 9kms from the center of El Calafate. The hotel has amazing views of the lake and the town. Check in was easy although very long since they almost insist on taking you to the bar area, serve you a drink and tell you all about the hotel and the area. Staff are very friendly and courteous, and know about the area really well. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of, although relatively old style. A couple of notes about the rooms, first, not a lot of “counter” space, i.e. a place to put your little stuff, a desk would have been nice. Second, the sound insulation is not very good, and we could hear things happening in the next room. On our second stay (we stayed on two different occasions), the room had a musky smell and it was obvious that they sprayed it with air freshner to try and remove the smell. it only went away after leaving the window open for a few hours. There is wifi in the hotel which is relatively stable and reliable with decent speed for the location. Breakfast is ok, nothing special, a continental style with some scrambled eggs as a hot dish, but there is no shortage of food, and the opening times are very generous, from 6:30am to 11am.

Beautifull, romantic, comfortable place to stay, amazing nature with a shuttle bus to city El Calafate, never seen such a great sunset.Rooms were very large and clean, bathroom also.Breakfast was serving early before daily excursion, and the stuff was very nice and professional. It wasnt a problem the hotel was a little bit away from town because it had a best wiev from that hill.

"Insane views, Wonderful service but far from town"
03/30/15 Lbrad3 New York City, New York
I stayed at this hotel in mid-March for 3 nights with 3 other friends. We chose this hotel because of the high reviews and unobstructed views of Lago Argentina. The staff was super friendly and made sure that breakfast was prepared early enough for us to eat before our daily excursions and always there to welcome us back from a long day. Also, the views are spectacular! However, we did struggle with getting tours to pick us up from here because it is outside of the main town of El Calafate and we had to order cabs to pick us up for our early morning tour departures. The hotel does run a free shuttle which we used a few times to get back after dinner at night.

I spent three nights there while visiting Calafate. The personel there is awesome and very professional. Rooms are really good and views from the hotel are amazing. It is a bit far away from downtown, and that is why it has these exclusive views. There is a regular shuttle service ride by Pancho, the best one for directions and restaurant recommendations, a really nice person to spend some time talking to. The only thing to improve would be the restaurant, there are better choices downtown.

"Wonderful service!!"
03/17/15 Nancy E Elmira, New York
What a wonderful hotel in a beautiful place! The service was freaking amazing -- from Roman at the front desk to Pancho the shuttle driver and everyone in between! The room was large, clean, modern, and comfy. While the distance from the city center was daunting at first blush, the free shuttle was easy, convenient, and fast. It's as if you're in your own little world with terrific views of the area. It is a gem in a sea of typical tourist offerings. Loved it!

"The best hotel I have stayed in El Calafate!"
02/20/15 Tiemileal Sao Paulo, SP
I have stayed at this hotel for one night with my family, we booked two king bed rooms for the four of us. We rented a car so we went there by ourselves. The hotel's location at first was very tricky, the GPS could not find its location and even the locals were having a hard time to identify the address (we only found the hotel after asking the local guards that were near the Lago Argentino, who even called the hotel for us). The hotel isn't exactly close to the city centre, which was a bit of a disadvantage, it is about a 7km drive, the way out of the hotel to the city centre was easy but we would always struggle on the way back. But the hotel however is halfway (if not less) from the Glaciarium museum and to the Perito Moreno, so if you plan to go to these places this hotel's location could be an advantage. The hotel also has a free shuttle that takes the guests from the hotel to the city centre and the other way around during certain times of the day, we did not need the service but it sure looked appealing! The staff do speak both english and spanish and they gave us the necessary information about the hotel, however I personally thought that they lacked a bit of charisma, we also were not informed about all the hotel's facilities (the hotel apparently has a gym and a sauna), we only found out about it recently haha. The room was amazing, better than expected! Our room had a massive king size bed that could probably fit 5 people, a mini bar, a TV and a very nice bathroom, in addition I found the room very well cleaned. Overall I was very pleased with the room! The wi fi worked extremely well! I was warned that the El Calafate region has a natural poor wi fi signal before I even got there, so I was already conformed with the facts, however this hotel had a surprisingly good wi fi signal, I think they have a router for every two or three rooms! That was extremely thoughtful of them and terrific, of course. We were beat on the day we stayed there so we decided to have dinner at the hotel's facilities. The dinner was very tasty and the price wasn't so bad, they had a good variety of meals available and the restaurant staff were nice. The breakfast was also good, they served a decent variety of breads, cakes, cereal, some fruits, drinks (and even scrambled eggs), to be completely honest they won me at the scrambled eggs. Overall I had a very good stay at this hotel and from the other 2 hotels/hostels I visited during my stay at El Calafate this one was by far the best!

"Has potential but needs improvement"

Edenia is a great hotel in some ways including: - amazing views - peaceful setting - wonderful, friendly shuttle driver (Francisco) who is so helpful - spacious rooms - clean, relatively new bathrooms - great wifi That being said, it misses the mark in some major ways: - they definitely do not change the bedding between guests. Our bedspread had several stains (not small ones either) and it took several calls to the front desk to have it changed - the front desk is slow to respond or simply doesn't respond to inquiries made ahead of time. My husband contacted them to inquire about help making a reservation ahead of time and nobody ever responded. They also do not offer assistance to book day trips or activities. - the breakfast is as bad as everyone says it is and good luck finding a seat once the tour groups are there - shower supplies are tiny foil packets (like ketchup packets) that are impossible to open - had to check out at noon and didn't leave for the airport for several hours. I attempted to use the lobby bathroom but there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls (despite restaurant guests also needing to use it) Overall, not the worst hotel I have ever stayed at but very mediocre and could be excellent if some improvements were made.

Edenia hotel was on of the worst hotel experiences we have had. This hotel was selected because of lake views. Room 101 had a view of two cars. This was a huge disappointment. In fact, half the hotel rooms have no view. Room 102, a room with a minimal lake view, had the smell of smoke. Horrible. For me this was very difficult. The minute I entered the room, I could smell the smoke on the bedding, the curtains, and the furniture. The hotel manager said that yes, indeed, last week she confronted a guest smoking in room 102. She fully acknowledged that a guest had smoked in there. The hotel had clearly not done anything to air out the room and the hotel manager was quickly directing housekeeping to open the window and spray the room. Obviously, after the smoking guest leaves the hotel needs to take several steps to clean the air in the room such as change the bedding, air it out doors, open the window, and treat the room. None of this was done. It was awful. We asked the front desk manager to separate the "matrimonial" bed in the room. Our teenage son and daughter needed separate beds. The front desk manager refused, saying it could be done tomorrow, but not today. This absolute refusal to assist was hard to understand. I have seen beds separated elsewhere and it takes 5 minutes. I saw at least three house keeping staff at work and could not understand why this request was being refused. Shower room has no window or fan so moisture and humidity just builds with no escape. Creates an unpleasant smell and wetness in the entire room. We opened the window to the room each time we arrived, but the window had no screen so bugs came in. Yuk. Killed a bug on the inside window at eye level. It was still there on day 3. This just shows you the level of cleanliness of the hotel. Amenities were poor. Soap and shampoo (provided in foil packets) were low quality. This are the packets you have to rip open with your teeth. The shower itself was also a poor experience. Bed sheets and blanket also low quality. Looked like cardboard. Internet was painfully slow, to the point we could not really use it to make plans. Boxed lunches, which included a sandwich, fruit, breakfast bar and water cost 22$ US. That feels like talking advantage of guests. That price is absurdly expensive. We later saw in town box lunches available for 80 Pesos and at Los Cauquenas (a clearly higher class hotel), the lunch box, which offered more food, cost 170 Pesos (approx $12 -13 US). This price gauging of tourists leaves a bad taste. Now, a word about the distance from town. This was a disaster for us. The shuttle bus runs once an hour... and not at mid-day. It became a challenge.

"Peaceful place out of the downtown area"

On the outskirts of El Calafate, this hotel stands alone with a beautiful view of the downtown area and the mountains. It's a 15-20 min drive from town but well worth the peacefulness. We asked for a lake view and received an upgrade when we got there with a gorgeous view. Our room was beautiful and clean, the staff gracious and kind. We had challenges booking our ice tour prior to the trip and when we got there everything was sold out. Thanks to Roman for his the excellent customer service and for going above bad beyond to help us. When he received the call about a cancellation, Roman called a tour office and found us in town to let us know we had a spot. He saved our trip! The breakfast was decent and the views from the breakfast room are breathtaking. There's a shuttle every hour that takes you too town. It's a little over an hour to walk it and a cab is approximately 90 pesos. Taxi ride to airport from the hotel is cheaper - 250 pesos vs the 300 we paid coming from the airport.

"Beautiful view"

The hotel is quite far from the airport and the downtown area but it has a shuttle service that works pretty well. The rooms are large and comfortable and the view is breathtaking. I highly recommend it for those who wish to have a good time with the family as well as for those in the mood for some romance.

"Friendly Helpful Staff!"

We stayed here for 2 nights (x2 rooms) in December. The staff was very helpful both before and during our visit!!! In advance of arriving, the hotel staff helped me with several concerns via email. They helped us make dinner reservations for Christmas Eve since we arrived that day. They even helped me with understanding and booking a tour I wanted for our family. Edenia is located just out of town on a hillside overlooking the lake and town. They have a shuttle to take you to and from town, but the cab ride was only about 80 pesos if you didn't want to wait. The best part is that, because of their location, for many excursions (Perito Moreno and Estancia Cristina) they are the last hotel to be picked up in the morning and the first hotel to be dropped off in the evening after a long day.) You will appreciate the extra sleep when you are having dinner at 10pm as is the custom in Patagonia! It is also located near the new Glacier Museum that recently(?) opened. It is a nice, comfortable, clean and modern hotel. The wifi worked!! Planning a trip to small towns in Argentina was not always easy. (We don't speak Spanish in our family.) I could not believe how helpful the staff at Edenia was--even before we arrived!
