Hotel was in a great location. Close to the old city in walking distance of several attractions. We had to upgrade once we got here to stay in the new building. Room was fine except linens had not been changed from previous guest as they smelled of cologne, bad cologne. Staff was nice and changed out linens. We were given drink vouchers for bar, however […] only good for coke, hot chocolate and coffee. No water, no tea and no beer. It was clean and the free breakfast was good. Make sure you get a room in the main building as the other building does not have an elevator and the rooms are not very nice. If you are a student/backpacker on a limited budget this is probably a good option.

Now I see what the other reviews meant by the other building, it wasn't that big of a deal. The room was cozy and adequate. Breakfast buffet was great, and I wasn't expecting a no free mini-bar! The hotel has main building and surrounding building. I stayed in surrounding building and it does not have elevator, so you have to drag all your luggage with you depending on which floor you are at. I was at second floor so not too bad. The room has very strange set up. Upon entering, you will see the bedroom. The shower is in a very small room behind […] the bedroom and the water is never warm so expect cold showers. Nice hotel, but watch out: there is a new building and old one! We were stuck in the older one which was not as nice. The air conditioner in the living room did not work, the bedroom wall unit worked well. The view from the bedroom window was a slum. If you want a great overall experience, ensure you are in the newer building!

We stayed at this hotel for 12 nights and it was pretty nice for seeing Chiang Mai. The location is within walking distance of the Old City, Night Bazaar, and many temples. The rooms in the side buildings were quite large and comfortable. The included breakfast buffet was actually pretty good as well.

The Maninarakorn Hotel was a pleasant surprise. The cost was very affordable though it was the off-season. The staff were super friendly. We booked this hotel from Hotels.com and got the room outside of the main building. There are problems of this hotel: 1) Besides the main building, there is no elevator. Room wise, really 2 distinct hotels with a “hotel building” & a “wing building”. The “hotel” is the main building in the photos and has the better rooms, lobby, bar, restaurant, pool, etc. Only considering the “hotel” I would rate the hotel 3 star +. Fluent English is spoken, the pool was nice, and (included) breakfast was very good. Although I didn’t […] personally view the rooms, I would have no reason to doubt they were equally nice. The “wing” appeared to be a much older building and while the rooms were large, I would not rate them above 2 star. An electronic access card was required to enter the “wing” but individual room doors were very light weight & locked with a regular metal key. While there were additional locks once inside, I think it would take little to break into a “wing” room. The large interior A/C rattled away & seemed oblivious to the remote control – always blowing cold but humid air regardless of the setting. We stayed in the annex with spacious rooms and nicely decorated. Easy access to night market area. Had a bad experience with the rental car operator outside the hotel (independant of the hotel) so if you rent a car or get a taxi there make sure that you are being understood.

The room was well equipped with a separate living room and bedroom, each with it's own air conditioner. The furnishings were gorgeous and quite unique but the bed could be renewed and the bathroom really does need a make-over. The living area is quite large. We originally had a room in the older part of the hotel. It is very gross though, so we moved to the newer part. Do not stay in the older part...it's too gross. The newer part is fine, but nothing special. If the price is right, its worth it stay here, but only for that reason...no frills.

Just east of Chiang Mai, this hotel has very nice rooms and studios, affordable and about 10 minutes walk from the night bazaar. I liked the fact it was quiet at night, comfortable and clean, with a ATM & a 7-eleven at the corner. The pool was nice, good breakfasts too and personal was helpful.

I arrived into Chiang Mai by train and got a ride on a "red taxi" from the train station to the hotel for 50 bat/person which seems to be the going rate. The hotel itself was clean and in good shape and the clerk at the front desk was in a good mood. We needed laundry service and he recommended using the place next door as it is less expensive than […] the hotel's own cleaning service. There's a convenience store right next door to get water or snacks. The breakfast was also pretty good, the standard western breakfast with a few Chinese dishes thrown in. The location is also within walking distance of the old part of town (20-30 min) where several temples are located. And if you walk in the opposite direction towards the river there are 2 Starbucks within 20 minutes walking distance, so you know the location is not bad. Read more

Stayed in a Deluxe Room in the Hotel Section of the Maninarakorn, The room was huge, The air conditioning was perfectly cold, the bed was as comfortable as can be, and the whole place was kept spotless. The free minibar, replenished daily, was a nice touch. The included breakfast was great, with different options every day. And the WiFi worked well […] enough for emailing and web browsing. On arrival we were allocated a room in the old building of the hotel which was very dated and did not feel comfortable for a western traveller. We requested to change our booking and upgrade to the next room up which was located in the new (main) hotel building. This was a much better room and considerably larger with views of the mountains as we were […] on the 8th floor. The cost of the upgrade was quite cheap so I would definitely recommend only staying in the new building. Wifi was free throughout the hotel and the included breakfast also had good variety. The hotel was in close proximity to the main shopping street and the night bazaar, probably only a 5 min walk. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in booking excursions. We booked a half day elephant excursion and a trip to tiger kingdom via the hotel reception which we thoroughly enjoyed. The tour operator was extremely flexible and made a genuine effort to give us a good experience. Overall the hotel was comfortable enough for a few days stay but the room itself lacked a modern finish. On a plus note the location was very convenient for shops and the night bazaar. Read more

We had booked 3 x de luxe apartments fr 4 nights in Chiang mai - said to be 70 m2 each. (Ref. hotel info they are 60 m2 each) We requested at least 1 of the rooms to be close to the lift as my mother in law has some problems with walking. First of all no lift at all in these 2 x 3 storey side-buildings - only steep steps. Luckily we was offered a room […] inspection upon arrival - and then we easily could see that our apartments on 3.rd. floor was not at all of any "de luxe" category, actually very, very regular, but large. (And also impossible to use for my mother in law.) After informing the reception, we then a minor fee got an offer for 3 x regular hotel rooms in the main building - where they also had a lift. Rest of our comments are therefore based on our stay in these superior double rooms. These rooms can really be recommended - full normal western hotel standard. Hotel breakfast very good, service level of the staff very good, cleaning of the rooms very good - and their swimming pool area at 3. floor of their main building very nice, but with only 4 sun beds. (Though a little bitt smaller than expected.) Distance to the Night Market appx. a 10 minutes walk or 3 minutes by tuk tuk taxi. Nearest ATM and a 7-11 supermarket only 50 -75 meters away from the hotel. No other shopping possibillities of our interest nearby - but a tailor, a fish massage servide, abeauty saloon and a small travel agency in the side building of the hotel. Therefore no risk to stay at the normal hotel rooms at this hotel. Read more

When I arrived I requested an extra bed. I paid 3,000 baht for 5 nights straight away. I returned it after 3 nights as my friend's daughter had to return home early. When I checked out they tried to make me pay for the bed for the whole 5 nights all over again. The price for the extra bed was 600 baht per night. While I was there I picked up a shampoo […] bottle in the shower by the lid. The lid was defective and the glass bottle became unattached from the lid and broke. I received a very bad laceration to my foot, but didn't complain. When I checked out they wanted to charge me 150 baht for the defective bottle and tried to charge for the extra bed all over again. i explained that as i only used the extra bed for 3 nights they actually owed me 1200 baht. They let me leave eventually, but no offer of refund for the bed that was returned 2 nights early. I will never stay there again Read more
