This hotel is not in Sorrento. It is in a neighboring town called St. Agnello. Facilities are clean and rooms are spacious. Mattresses are not very comfortable. Morning staff was very helpful, evening staff not so much...Genuine Expedia guest review

This was an okay experience. Everything about it was average or less, except for the service of a desk ckerk, which was outstanding. Breakfast was simple and so was the room. Nothing special jumps out. I should have stayed in Sorrento, rather than this place as it is a good 20 minute walk from the train station and Sorrento is where the action is! "Good hotel for budget-minded travelers!"
Domus Porto Salvo is a wonderful inexpensive hotel but does have some limitations. When we stayed there in October 2012 our reservation for two rooms was confirmed with bathrooms in each room. However, when we arrived only one room was available with a bath. The other room had to use a hall bath. They did compensate us and did move us to a room with […] a bath on the third day of our six night stay, however. The rooms are clean, simple without air conditioning or fan (no thermostat that we saw) so we needed to open our windows for ventilation. We woke every morning to smell someone burning trash so we had to decide on whether to sleep with the windows closed and be hot, or to keep the windows open and smell burning in the AM. Other than this, I have no other complaints. The staff is very helpful and the complimentary breakfast is simple. I would have liked some fruit and good bread, but the cereal, coffee and juice was fine. The location is close to the water and beautiful views are within a block of the hotel. Be ready to walk into Sorrento (a 20+minute walk) or to the train/bus station. I feel that the hotel met my expectations considering the amount of money we paid for the room. Stay in the center of Sorrento. It takes 2o min from the train station to get to the hotel. The rooms are super basic. Most rooms dont have their own bathroom and you have to go and use the shared bathroom. There is no phone in the room and no shampoo. There is not enough buses from the hotel to take you to Sorrento. A beautiful building , in a very noisey environment. No air conditioning so very hot. We're not happy to have all our possessions moved without our permission when they decided to move our room. Stayed here in July 2014. Was looking for somewhere to stay on a budget that was quite central. This hotel is in a good location, close to la Marinella beach. The station is approx 15 - 20 mins walk away. The hotel is pleasant and the room was clean & comfy. Would definitely recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Incredible views from our room!"
Comfy bed, very clean linen, powerful shower and lots of hot water. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but that wasn't a big deal. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly which helped make our stay memorable. Great location with stunning views. I've spent my birthday 3 times in this hotel now and the reason I keep going back is because it's brilliant. Rustic, simple, clean, the location is great, the price is incredible, and the staff are wonderful. I can't say enough good things about Porto Salvo to be honest!Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is characterful with beautiful grounds and a marvellous location with some rooms having views over the Bay of Naples. In that respect you get a lot for your money in this budget hotel. We had a great stay at Porto Salvo - the hotel was clean and cool even though we had really hot weather. Personal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We really enjoyed our stay. Got plenty of help, friendly people, good breakfast, garden, close to 2 very nice restaurants, 1 small closeby and about 15-30 mins walk to Sorrento centre (close to a bus stop and quite close to train station). "Wonderful place to stay near Sorrento"

Porto Salvo is an old monastery/convent converted to an inn. It is about a 10 min walk from the Sant'Agnello train station. The inn has bikes that you can rent (at least it did when we visited), and you can walk down to the beach. The city is very pretty in the month of May and early June with blooming flowers everywhere you look. There is a bus to go to Amalfi and Positano from here. Pompeii is also close.
"superb location, friendly, value for money"

I stayed at the Porto Salvo with my son for a week in January. We wanted to be close to Naples as we were there to see Napoli v Juventus and I didn't want to stay in the city centre. The building is historic, a former convent which means it has real character. We were given a friendly welcome, offered advice regarding the local area, transport links and local bars & restaurants. We were given room 4, which has wonderful views across the Bay of Naples. The room was basic but had en-suite facilities of bathroom and shower, was cleaned daily and was comfortable. The hotel caters mainly towards students, at least that was the case when we were there; and certainly has the feel of a hostal about it. I didn't have the chance to see other rooms but I know there were those which had to use separate bathroom facilities. As this is an old building, it is stone and marble with high ceilings which means noise does travel, although we didn't have any major problems with sleep. Breakfast is a self-service buffet; a choice of cereal, toast, croissants, briocchi and fresh fruit. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. The bar area is bright and new. Titled the Purple Sorrento, it has a cocktail style bar which opens into the gardens. There is also private off-street parking with electronic gates. The key question..would I stay here again? A definate yes.

we had a very pleasant stay, all the staff were extremely friendly. We were lucky to be upgraded to a room with a private bathroom and although breakfast wasnt very adequate as almost everything was gone 30mins after it started. No complaints. Everything was clean, and all the staff were really good. The chef was really sweet and cooked us a one of the best pasta we had during our 2 week trip to italy
"Atmospheric building well located for visits to Pompeii & Sorrento."

This is a former convent thus rooms & corridors reflect this & to me that was delightful. We were lucky & got a limited but wonderful sea view however under that very window was a badly damaged I guess electric fire which luckily we didn't require. Breakfast wasn't very good but adequate. The barman "Jon" who seemed to have 10 jobs & did virtually all tasks whilst girls did much less ... he was a very kind delightful guy! Frankly for what we paid I think eben with a few drawbacks this was a good value historic & well-situated hotel.

Because I read the reviews before going I knew what to ask for with regard to rooms and I insisted on a room with a sea view and got exactly that apart from a big tree obscuring the view which really needs cutting back. Because of that view it made up for any other shortcomings, of which there are a number. The good points: the view we were lucky to have - we were in room 1 and we had french windows which opened out. Having our own bathroom and both were kept very clean. The location is good although could do with a nearby good bus service into Sorrento rather than having to walk. We opted to walk to the station which wasn't too bad and quite nice along the way and which led us to a pizza cafe where we had the best pizza we ever had - I think it was called Joe's, its near to the station. The bad points: appalling beds. Breakfast was ok, disgusting coffee in an urn, the coffee maker in the kitchen was broken so no alternative to that. Luckily there was a great cafe not far overlooking the sea where we spent most of our mornings. Pastry was fresh but they seemed to run out of those quickly. The noise at times (room walls extremely thin), banging doors at night. Basically, this is a hostel used by young people so bear that in mind. All in all, the view made up for it. Found some great restaurants, not too expensive.

We initially booked 2 nights here for a visit to Sorrento. It's a bit of a walk to the center, but it's a very nice walk. We enjoyed Sorrento so much I think we ended up staying 4 nights. Each morning, we'd go to the desk and ask for one more night. Luckily it was not busy season so we were able to do that. Our room did not have an ocean view, but it was still nice. We spent a couple nights playing card games in the common room downstairs and one night at a bar just around the corner. I wouldn't recommend eating here though.
"Budget accomodation for budget travel."
08/17/14 ripcurlgrl Bangkok
I stayed here with a friend who had a very tight budget. I have stayed in numerous hostels are various quality so i wasnt expecting much. The accomodation itself is great and in a fine location about 20mins walk from sorreno centre, the sant agnello train station is about a 10 minute walk...it seems more with a suitcase! The breakfast is fine, basic coffee, juice, pastries, the small pool is good if you fancy a dip at the end of the day. I stayed in a shared dorm room and sadly that is where the problem was. There is no air conditioning and it is very hot this time of year, there are also only very this net curtains so all the light fills the room from outdoors, the room was also full of mosquitos and I left covered in bites. The other residents of the dorm room were extremely disrespectful regarding their noise and ise of the space, they seemed fine to spread their luggage all over the room and other beds. The hostel needs some signs regarding behaviour and expectations of those staying as this was the main let down of the stay really. Fine place on a budget.

First accommodation on a trip travelling up Italy. Very picturesque surroundings. A small pool which was a nice surprise. Very near sea and brilliant views. Not to far from Saint Agnello train station. About a 30 min walk to main town Sorrento. Plenty of Restaurants on the way. Nice breakfast room which supplied fair continental Breakfast. Really friendly staff. Nice bar. Very small room, with shared Bathroom, but did the job just fine. Plenty of places to chill outside of room. Would definitely use again.
"Not what we expected"
05/28/14 Linda B Brussels
Room had a nice view but that was it. A bad smell and no curtains. It was also quite noisy at night because young people were running and screaming in the corridors until after midnight. Breakfast was poor. The lady at the reception was friendly but most of the time there was no one there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They should call it a youth hostel instead of a hotel or B&B stayed there in may 2014
"Don't stay there! - Description online gives Wrong Impressions"
03/26/14 Fe L Minori, Italy
We were looking for a nice and decent place to stay in Sorrent. We have found this hotel on tripadvisor and it promised a very nice room with a perfect location for a very affordable price. We also found other lovely hotels at much higher rates. Due to the special rate given at this date (35€) we have decided to go for Porto Salvo. After our experience I can say the only good thing is the location. We CANNOT recommend this place at all. The pictures online give absolutely wrong impressions. Nothing was as shown in the pictures. Our room was only 8-10m² with one little window. It was not the room with two windows and wide space shown in the pictures. The whole building is quite cold. We have stayed there over March and we needed the heater, but the heater did not work. The breakfast was not needed. It is only sweet stuff and toast. In case you are used to sweet breakfast I think you can live with that. The worst thing in our opinion were the beds. These are a real impertinence. I guess they are the cheapest pallets from IKEA. The mattresses were bending all the way down to the floor. We stayed there for three nights and both of us got heavy headaches after the first night. I think it is extremely unfair to give the rooms wrong pictures. If I would have seen the real room in the first place I would have rather booked a hotel, which is 3 times more expensive. Unfortunately, during our stay there we were too tired to really complain due to our headaches. In the end I didn't want to be mean and only write this bad review. So I have asked the staff for a 20€ discount to at least compensate for something. But there was no chance to get anything for it.
