The hotel overall was great. I had adjoining rooms and the one with the king bed was fine. We didn't know that it was the slow season when we went last visited Cancun. If you like it very quiet then November is a good time to go. The week of Thanksgiving, it started to get busy. They had a mix of everyone, families, singles, couples and all. I would have to say that we still had a good time though. At times we were the only ones in the bar […] and at the restaurants. There were a lot more people on the Oasis Palm Beach side. The staff was very attentive to us and they treated us well. The hotel is located near the Barcelona hotel and where they have the Pirate ship cruises. It would be closer to the downtown side. The bus stop is very close to the hotel. That the way to go. They run every minute or so and its very cheap to ride. The food and drinks were pretty good also. The beach is on the lagoon side and it's clear and calm. They also had a club at this hotel too. I read a lot of review before booking this vacation on both Expedia and Trip Advisor. We stayed at the Grand Palm Oasis (not to be confused with the Grand Oasis or the Palm Oasis). We’re not overly picky and think that all things considered, especially the price, that this is a great value. Some reviewers complained about the wine (It was ok for us, […] others the food. Staff is very nice. Food was great. Clean hotel. There is a wristband distinction (black, purple, and other) for this hotel, two hotels functioning under the same area. We had no idea before arriving, but were lucky enough to have black wristbands. Staff was awesome at most places we got the best service possible except at the Mexican Restaurant (can't remember the name) where we got worst service possible. Also, same goes for the food at specialty restaurants the food was really good except at the Mexican Restaurant where the food was very bad. Drinks were average to above average. There are […] a number of bars. At any given time you will always find at least one to two bars open. The food at buffet was hit or miss. There were plenty of choices but sometimes the quality was very low at buffet. However, you can always find something to fill you up. The pool were good. The small pool could have been more cleaner. The beach was nice and clean for most parts. We went during the mid of August so it was very hot. At times, the AC in the room were not good enough to keep room at comfortable temperature. Make sure to Tip people who serve you or help you any were. They do not make much money per hour and tip is the main source of their income. Make sure to have a lots of $1 bills or get Mexican currency at the air port (Hotel will give you very low rate). Cancun during the time when temperature is above 75 F is not recommended. Though the good thing is this is off season so there weren't many people. No lines at buffet, crowded pools, beach and bars. No long waits for dinning at the specialty reservation only restaurants. But the high temperature and humidity doesn't let you enjoy outside much until late in the evening. Read more

Every disappointed on the stuff at the hotel the air conditioner in the 1st room did not work they checked the air and we where told it would work in 15 to 30 minutes never worked then the next day we where switch to the second room that the air did not work either that was another long night with the people at the reception desk then about midnight […] we where switched to the third room. We had a really decent six day stay at this hotel. There were plenty of all-inclusive choices for meals and the 'reservation' restaurants were very nice. The pool was clean and not crowded. My friend and I stayed in the Grand Oasis Palm this past week for 8 days. This is my forth trip to Cancun and I felt that this hotel was very nice for the price that we paid. We got a great deal and were looking for a relaxing week, which we had. I appreciated the mini fridge which was stocked with bottled water, beer and soda daily. The hotel had 5 main restaurants and 3 buffets. The buffets were typical all inclusive buffets, with a decent variety. The a la cart restaurants were the best bets for lunch and dinner. We really enjoyed the Brazilian Steakhouse buffet. I found all of the service excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful The pools were large but crowded and had a lot of children. We stuck to the beach for the most part which was quiet, the water and beach was beautiful. We were impressed that although the hotel was very full, there always seemed to be chairs available both at the pool and the beach. Drinks were weak but they had a big variety. The best drinks were served at the Grill bar and the Cantina bar. All in all I thought that this hotel was a good deal for the price. It is by no means a 5 star hotel but if you are looking for a clean, fairly large and easy vacation with lots of food choices, this is the place to go. Read more

The hotel was very nice, modern, clean, friendly staff, great pool areas, cabana beds, hammocks, etc. But that's where the good reviews end. The actual beach is HORRIBLE! I wouldn't even consider it a beach, more like a lagoon. Apparently, the island of Isla Mujeres is directly in front of this hotel far out in the ocean. Because of that, it blocks […] the tides from coming in. So there are no waves on this beach, except the mild movement created by the constant boats/jet skiis that go by. The beach is VERY ROCKY! I can't tell you how many times I saw people stumble walking along the beach due to the rocks and uneveness. There is also seagrass/seaweed on the ocean bottom, making it very dark in certain areas. There are small fish hovering in those areas so you don't want to walk on it. The seaweed also has a bad odor. It smells like rotten eggs at first. You get used to it after a few minutes and then don't smell it anymore. There are also TONS of vendors along the beach trying to sell you everything! Hair braiding, cigars, sarongs, blankets, bags, jewlery, and even fruit! Even though you've said "No gracias" they walk up and down asking you over and over. The walls in the hotel are very thin. You can hear people stumbling in at 2AM. The doors slam very loudly when they close. You can hear the disco all night. If you're a light sleeper or retire early, this is not the hotel for you. There is also a rather noisy peacock that likes to squawk at the top of it's lungs every morning. Read more

The place was pretty good, rooms and most facilities were very clean. People work hard there especially in the restaurants and bars, we tipped everyone but had great service in return. It is not facing the direct Caribbean ocean but it is more like a bay area very close to the water channel where the big boats (Pirate ship) and other boats are docked. We went to this resort mainly for the kids club pool which was in a different area of the resort, but on the first couple of days the pool was closed for cleaning (due to a huge rain storm) and than even when it was opened there were lots of tree leafs and cleaning that still needed to be done on the sand the slides and the swing-no kids were playing there. If you are vegetarian or need a special diet this is not the hotel for you. They are not willing to accomadate you. We were promised prior to the reservation they would accomodate our vegetarian dietary needs. I was told there would be free internet by expedia rep in this hotel. There was a charge for it, and the internet was very poor. You would get […] connection only in certain spots. There was no iron or coffee pot in the room. They limited the roomservice, and even though it was all inclusive they would charge you if you drank more than 2 bottles of water or 2 beers from the refrigerator. The pools and restaruants were not near by and the beach closed at 6pm. Some of the bars closed by 6 pm also. The waiters expected tips each time they served you, even in the buffets. Read more

Everything was as expected and very comfortable. We were surprised at how good the food was and that we could get as much of it as we wanted. Yes, you have to make reservations for 3 of the restaurants at dinner but that wasnt that big of a deal and one place was exceptional! Order […] the Maya Coffee-its entertaining to watch them make it and its loaded with alcohol but doesnt necessarily taste like it. The staff is always cleaning, moping or helping people. Everyone was really friendly and most staff members spoke English and Spanish. We never had trouble finding a spot on the beach or near the pool. I am not usually a resort type traveler because I like to explore but we didnt leave and it was perfect. I was never bored or thirsty :) The beach was fantastic and the vendors werent too persistent but very nice if you just talk to them. Never felt pressured to buy anything either. I had pretty low expectations coming into this trip because previous stays were in higher rated hotels plus I had read some poor reviews. I ended up feeling like this resort was worth the money. I found the restaurant staff to be very hard working and helpful. The quality of the food overall was good, not great. If you are expecting 5 star quality […] food and service, you will be disappointed, but with reasonable expectations, I think you will enjoy. There are no waves here, great for the young kids but if you like wave action, this might not be the place for you. I found it difficult to make change for tips or to get a fair exchange rate, so I would recommend exchanging for plenty of smaller 20 and 50 Peso bills at a bank, or bring a supply of $1, $5, and $10's for smaller purchases and/or tips inside and outside of the hotel. I never saw an ATM on site. I learned to avoid the people in white shirts in the lobbies because I think they were trying to get me to a time share meeting which I didn't want to deal with, but they were never very clear, so I just started avoiding them altogether. When I checked in, our front desk person even asked us to sit down with them like it was required "to find out more about what is included in "all inclusive," which I didn't appreciate. Overall, I thought it was a fair price, good experience, clean, adequate food, and a good value overall unless you have high expectations, then pay a little more for somewhere fancier. Read more

When people ask me of my recent stay at the Palm for spring break i simply say "it was an interesting trip". The reason i don't mention that it was awesome, great of fantastic was mainly due to the hotel and the staff, unfortunately. Maybe they were rude just to us since i am young (late 20s) but i don't think that is a good excuse. I would say that the room service and front desk were the worst part. We ordered an iron on two occasions, it did not come. For bath towels i had to go down to the front desk and ask for them, they still did not show up. Even drinks like water and beer never arrived. Front desk at both the old and new palm part of the hotel was really rude. In the customer service business this sets the tone for the whole hotel and unfortunately it was some of the worst i have seen. There were definitely positives to the hotel. For instance, the bar area in the new palm hotel was really good, friendly staff and good atmosphere/music. The restaurant at the new Palm hotel was really good, especially the dinner menu which was amazing. The beach wasn't that great but good enough for tanning. The was had a lot of sea weed and too shallow to swim. Overall this is a 3.5 star hotel with some good and bad points. I would not come back or recommend it. Read more

Our experience with hotels and beaches in Cancun have always been so positive. This hotel in particular is away from all the others and on the side of the island where the beach is not as pretty and clean. We were disappointed with the beach space, the rooms were very cramped, beds were uncomfortable, and price was ridiculous for what you got.

Had the best time at the hotel! We got the oasis plus package. Great Ocean view! We went with my 3 children and boyfriend and had a great time! Great staff. They have a kids club with really great responsible staff. We highly recommend staying here. We are definitely considering coming back to Grand Oasis Palm!!
