"They should call it the A...."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
For the price paid this hotel is totally worth the money. Free breakfast and no resort fees! Location right on fremont. Hotel staff were very nice compared to some higher priced hotels. Front desk was friendly at check in. Valet guys were nice. Breakfast was awesome. Room was a little dated and tired but for the rate paid it was clean, quiet and safe.
"Great Price, Poor Hotel Upkeep"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The room was a steal at the price, and it was right on the strip. Only complaints /i had were poor lobby lay-out (had to ask where the check in desk was) and poor room and elevator maintenance, the elevators shook so bad i thought we could plunge to the bottom at any moment.

"Just like a condo"
The hotel was a condo setting and was really cute. There was some cracked tile on the floor but everything else was in good shape! The pool is a cold and never cleaned but the hot tub is great. The hotel staff was nice but not really too welcoming! Its about a 15 minute walk to the strip so not too far if you are up for the walk. No elevators so that […] was not fun but overall i would deff stay there again because it was cheap and cute. Oh and I never woke up from anyone else being too loud. Read more
"WAS NOT CLEAN"
I should have took the other reviews seriously, I read some of them before i booked this hotel and i wondered if those people were just picky. I have stayed at other hotels off the main strip with not so good reviews and still had a good experience. I DID NOT HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE HERE!! They charged me a RESORT fee at check in. THIS DID NOT LOOK LIKE […] A RESORT. The two bedroom looked like it was a resent eviction apartment. The linen in the master bed room was still dirty from the previous visitors, I saw hair when i pulled back the sheets, the carpet was standed as if some one lived there for two or three years and never cleaned the carpet, the master bedroom bath needed door nob change and the maintenance people came in while we walked in to fix it. Then as i was seated on the couch, the door was shut, someone else just walked in without knocking then said "OH i didn't know anyone was here" The front door barely latched to be shut. The walls need ALOT OF PAINTING. *****So I called Hotels.com ****** And Hotels.com fixed me up the gave me credit and booked me another hotel, The Excaliber, was only 10 dollars more, I should have done that first. THANK YOU HOTELS.COM for taking care of me and my family. I haved booked many trips through Hotels.com and will continue to do so. Read more
"LOVED staying here!!"
This was a wonderful experience!! My husbands children live in North Las vegas and we go out once a month to visit them, and have been stuck with the most disgusting and depressing hotels rooms imaginable! The Desert Tides was wonderful, the suite was large, great TV and channels, a full working kitchen with a washer/dryer, and a sweet pool. The complex […] was quiet and peaceful through-out our stay, and we were in walking distance from the Palms and Rio. The air conditioning did not work too well, but that really is the only complaint I have. The bed was HUGE and extremely comfortable, the room was clean and orderly, and we will definately be making Desert Tides our consistanet stay when we are in Vegas. I highly recommend it! Read more
"Statutory Warning - Dont stay here even if they give you the room for free"
As a guest who has stayed at this hotel I strongly advise anyone who goes to Vegas to not to stay in this hotel. The rooms are totally uncomfortable. The service is pathetic. The hotel staff is totally uncoopertaive. The best part is that the internet doesnt work even if it comes with the room. They dont provide you with a modem in the room and you […] have to go down to get the modem and it still wont work. The best part is that they need the smoke detector to beep at all times to make sure it works so you will have a constant beeping sound while sleeping at night. Trust me, pay the 100 bucks more and stay on the strip or stay somewhere else. Never stay here. Read more
"Great Hotel!"
Will stay next time! We arrived very early and they allowed us to check in early, which was great!!! Rooms were clean and very quiet.
"Needs Improvements"
The hotel is nice if you have your whole family and you need to accomodate them. The rooms can use some touch ups for ex.. the drapes need to be changed, the blinds need repair, the sheets on the beds need to be stain free. The staff was good and they tried to make us feel comfortable, but the owners need to improve the conditions of the rooms. If not […] possible they will loose customers because that was one of our concerns with our neighbors. Read more
"A home away from home"
The Desert Tides provided an affordable and homey living environment with all the amenities we needed! Not only did it have a fridge but a washer and dryer as well! Whenever we weren't in the casinos or enjoying the Strip, I snuggled happily watching TV before sleeping. Thank you for the comfortable stay during our Vegas adventures.
"NEEDS IMPROVEMENT"
THE ROOM WAS FINE EXCEPT FOR THE CARPET IT WAS VERY STAINED AND IT NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING. IT WAS SO BAD YOU DIDNT WANT TO TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF TO WALK ON THE CARPET. WHEN WE REGISTERED THEY SENT US TO A ROOM WHICH STILL HAD PEOPLE IN IT.
"Big room, convenient location, poor service"
This was a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. The air conditioner was extremely loud and did not cool the room properly. The furnishings were rather spartan--no bedspreads, lighting was poor, and there was no telephone in the apartment. The internet connection did not work despite 3 trips back and forth to the office to get the promised cable. After we left […] we were charged for a key which we had returned. Still, the room was spacious and the location was convenient to the strip. Read more
"Greeted by a cockroach for breakfast"
Although I tend to thoroughly research reviews of a hotel, I sometimes try a place anyways just to see if I would like it. I did it with Desert Tides, and within minutes of booking I regretted it. I had a strong feeling that I would be in for disappointment, and when I checked in, I was unsurprised. The fact is that the condos have a lot of room for […] potential... however, it never quites meet that potential. The bahtroom sink never produced fully hot water. The pillows on the bed smelled like perfume and other humans... it was strong enough that I had to pull a shirt out of my luggage to cover up the pillow so that I didn't have to smell the leftover funk of other people. And then, to top it off, I found a large cockroach in the living room in the morning. It was so disgusting I lost my appetite and couldn't bear to eat breakfast anymore. I couldn't wait to get out of there, and I sincerely doubt I will be booking there again anytime soon. Read more
