I thought Costa Dorada was a great hotel. It definitely isn't what we are use to in the state. The water heater is a little dysfunctional but you can still manage to take a warm shower if you don't take too long. The staff was very friendly. The biggest problem that I see with this hotel is that it is away from everything. We had to drive at least 2 […] hours to get to any tourist spot. Isabel is a small town where everyone knows each other with a beautiful view of the ocean. In terms of having a romantic vacation to look at the sunset by the beach it is ideal but it you want to experience the rainforest,San Juan, or the nightlife I would not recommend it. Read more

No security at all, Bad customer service. Doors to balcony don't have locks on rooms. No phone available on rooms. No coffee on rooms just a coffee maker empty. Motels are better than this hotel. Scary place for a family vacation.

Lights burnt out in both the hallway and enterence of our room. Very cheap lock that was hard to open but easy to break in. No internet available (which is fine), but mobile service/reception also did not work. Costa Dorada is a basic resort looking hotel on the water but it is way overpriced. Comparable quality around the world would put the price […] of this at about $100 vs the $180 weekend rate we paid (the standard room). The grounds were well maintained (clean). Didn't use the pool. Costa Dorada is probably in a difficult spot on the decision to spend more money on improvement---at the same time staying profitable. DECEIVING...most of the outside pictures of this hotel, on some websites and brochures show more of the view of the hotel next door and not this one....my brothers room was horrible condition... there was no hot water, so after asking the hotel personel there to fix it, they weren't able to (they should have offered a different room but didn't..),so […] they ended up taking a bath at our room... they asked for an extra pillow and they said "TE LA DEBO." which means I owe it to you...so they never got it.:{ The night personell was horrible, now the morning one was a lot better but it was our check out date...so there wasn't much she could do about the horrible night spent there... This hotel was not what I expected. The roomed smelled and there were several items in the room that looked rusted. There were only 8 channels showing on the tv that could barely be seen. Half of the hallway leading to the room was dark and no phone service!!! Horrible I would never stay there again!!!! The whole place should be remodeled!

The rooms were not sound proof, one could not sleep in. The leaf blowers woke us up. The beds were not clean, one room had no power in the bathroom. One bed was soaking wet, no apparent reason, though it was made. No fridge in the rooms. One had to wait endlessly for ice. We left four nights early to another location.

Go Away. To start in front desk would charge me additional for the kids, the door of the room was uneven, the tiles in front door are broken, the carpet smell bad, the bed sheets and comfort were dirty. A fridge unplug out of service releasing bad odor, etc. Overall was a nightmare.

This hotel has a great potential, but it needs "tender loving care". The landscaping is ruined, the amenities such as the pool are not inviting, the tennis and basketball courts are abandoned, and the front desk was really indiferent. They seemed to be bothered by our presence.

My opinion of this hotel is mixed. The location is nice close to the beach and swiming area it have two pools and allthough we didn't use them they seem to be in good shape. The access road is narrow and congested, there is another, but it takes longer to reach the hotel. There is no phone service in the room, and some cell phones don't work either […] because the altitute of the landscape surrounding it. There were some bugs, but not enough to worry. The restaurant opens for lunch or breakfast, the cooks were not very experienced. It have air conditioned, but its really not needed because there is always a nice breeze. Tv system is not very good, it is a satelite service, but the TV in the room was old and not adaptable to a digital signal without a converter box. Read more

Besides the fact that there was no hot water in the entire hotel, the grounds of the hotel looks is if they had not seen a landscaper in 10 years, the hotel staff was not only unfriendly but unaccomodating, and there was no security in the hotel or parking lot which leaves a unsettling feeling in your stomach when walking from your car to your room. […] It is unfortunate because the area and the grounds of the hotel have huge potential to be gorgious it just looks as if someone stopped caring for the maintenance of the hotel a few years ago. The grounds around the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are nice but need to be updated a little the mattress is very soft and also needs to be replaced. Besides that it was fine for a place to sleep. The staff was very nice and always welcomed you when you entered the lobby.

Pros: The cheek-in was good (fast and easy) people were polite and frendley. Cons: -To start, the entrance of the hotel looked like a service entance with no guard at the post. -We had to carry our log age 3 floors up to get to our room. -Once in the room the Beds were hard like a rock also behind the bed we found electric receptacles without covers, […] sink faucet dripping all the time. There was No Internet or phone reception inside the room, the tv had only 10 channels and a lot of distortion. This property is (a) far from anything worth seeing/doing, (b) in need of SERIOUS renovation/upgrades, (c) in need of other guests, which sadly it won't get. My friend and I were the ONLY people in the place during President's Week. While the staff is friendly, the place was deserted- the "ammenities" (pool, pool bar, restaurant, gift shop)- are all […] out of date and/or closed. This is a neglected property that doesn't deserve to be advertised with the backing of Hotels.com. If you insist on staying here (and believe me, you'll be disappointed)- definitely rent a car so you can drive far away at a moment's notice. Very unpleasant! We stayed there 2 nights I wouldn't recommened this hotel to anybody, No Security, Bad Neighborhood, Rooms unclean, No Hot Water, No In room Phone Reception, Prices very high (for the type of hotel). My advise is if you are planning a trip to Puerto Rico; stay in San Juan, Ponce or Rincon, better accomodations there.

Unfortunately, the room's bathroom wasn't working well, no hot water and when we arrived the a/c unit wasn't working it seemed like the room hadn't been used for months, we stayed there 2 nights and did not enjoy it at all.
