"Amalia exceeded my expectations"
I was in Athens for work and chose the Amalia for both its rate and convenience. It is close to Syntagma Square, so taking Metro from airport was simple. The staff is excellent. Rooms were cleaning and ample sized. The breakfast was more than I expected. I will be going back and intend to stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Amalia is the BEST!!"
This Hotel is one of the best Hotel i stayed in, clean room, food was really good in the middle of Athens city. i do recommend it to everybody.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here two different dates. One was wonderful, the second, not so much. If the second had been first, I wouldn't have returned. The second room had dirty carpet, loose towel racks, etc. This hotel is directly across the street from Syntagma Metro, which makes it convenient to everything, but not lose enough to walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and service"
Excellent location, just one block from Syntagma Square and Metro Station. Walking distance from major points of interest (Zeus monument, Acropolis, Parliament, etc). Helpful staff, a huge option for (complimentary) breakfast, highly recommended, would definitely come back!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Amelia Hotel in December"
The location of this hotel is a selling point. It is an easy walk to Syntagma square and central Athens.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good stop-over before cruise"
very enjoyable stay, within walking distance of Acropolis and many shops along the way; min-bar was not what the name implies, simply a tray in the room with a couple jars of nuts and a couple cans of sodaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Outstanding location. Oner block from Syntagma Square in the center of Athens and close walking distance from the Plaka and all the famous Acropolus and Parthenon atteactions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We chose the hotel because its location was close to the end of our marathon run. It turns out it is really close to the center of Athens. That seems great until your balcony door doesn't seal and you are center stage to Athens traffic noise All Night Long. In addition, there seem to be nightly protests, all of which took place in Syragma Square which […] was a block away. Getting to and from the area often proved difficult. The good points are that it is luxurious by European standards and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Overall, if one can avoid staying in that area it is a good idea. If one cannot, Hotel Amalia is one of the better hotels to choose Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, service and breakfast"
We liked the hotel a lot. Location is perfect for seeing the sights of Athens. Clerks were helpful...they helped us plan our early morning departure to the airport. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room spacious. Our room was clean and well maintained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"really close to parliament"
the complimentary breakfast was outstanding. we found out the hard way that you room card must be inserted in a slot outside the bathroom in order for the electricity to work. we arrived in the evening after a day of protests at the parliament - tear gas filled the air and lingered the next day. yes, I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There are by all accounts many hotels in the vicinity of the Amalia, but the Amalia provided the best value for what I was looking for centrally located, not overly stylized, a good view (deluxe room), good breakfast, and cheap or free wifi with a clean minimum standard. of course there were others with close or similar criteria, but some of these hotels […] were crammed into some small side street and claustrophobic. Or they charged for breakfast as an extra and 25 EUR at that. Or wifi was10-20 EUR a day. or quite simply charged a great deal more for some cheesy baroque furniture and marble. But ultimately, the staff were quite friendly and nothing to complain about. They even didn't charge me for the wifi, even though their rates were quite reasonable at 5 EUR a day and I stayed 4 nights! I'm Throughly pleased with my choice of The Amalia, Athens however... Excellent location: major tourist attractions within walking distance, easy access for public transportation. Included breakfast was great, too. Friendly and accomodating staff. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Some notes about Amalia Hotels - Athens Location: The most Important thing about this hotel is the location. a 30 seconds walk from syntagma square a walking time from all the best thing to see in athens like the Plaka, montraski market and Likivitos hill ( Though you'll have to climb a bit :D ). In addition, it's close to all transportation you'll […] need like the bus to the airport, and the tram and the metro. Since being in Athens is all about traveling location is the most important thing. In this hotel location is the best. Breakfast: pretty dissent, a nice variety to choose from. View: This section was the most disappointing for us. We got the impression this hotel offer a nice views to the acropolis or even at least some other nice views. This we learnt from the reviews and the pictures of the hotel here in expedia. We were really disappointed. The hotel is standing in front a road and our room was turn into a small alley. Maybe if you're lucky to get the front room you'll be lucky to catch a site of Likivitos heel and the national Garden. Staff: friendly and helpful Internet: Only one computer for the whole hotels, sometimes not very convenient. They charge 5 Euro a day if want a free Wifi. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Only complain is that they control the temperature of the room from a central location and can only be cooled to a preset point chosen by the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price to value"
Frindly staff, best breakfast in Greece, good location ( walking distance to every where ), only 3 connected rooms in the hotel we booked two rooms about month ago and requisted a connected rooms and was not provided.Genuine Expedia guest review
The best location in Athens, right next to Syntagma square, access to the airport with the Metro or Bus, walking distance to all the major museums, to Plaka and the pedestrian district with all the restaurants and shops. And an amazing buffet breakfast is included.I will definitely stay at this hotel next time in Athens.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Accomoding Staff! :)"
The hotel was great- great location, great room, and accommodating staff. What was really great was we had to leave early for the ferry and were going to miss the breakfast, the staff packed us up a breakfast for us! It was more than enough food and water, it made our stay extra special!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in the best location"
This is a first class hotel right in the center of Athens, Syntagma square, within walking distance to all the museums, the shopping district and restaurants. The central Metro station is right there, so you can go to the airport or to the port of Piraeus for boat rides with one Metro ticket,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A solid choice"
A clean, convenient hotel with a great breakfast and good service. The location is perfect for touring archaeological sites and visiting the Plaka. However, wifi is five euros a day and while there is air conditioning, the temperature for all rooms is set so you can't control it yourself.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel in Athens"
wonderful hotel. location, food, very clean room, view, etc. I recommand this hotel strongly. I could see the acropolis in my room terrace. it takes just 5 minutes from sytagma square station.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay, close to all must-see sights"
Great location, walk to Acropolis, Plaka, Syntagma square, etc. Clean room, nice breakfast, very helpful front desk people, they provided useful information from restaurant location, museum hour, to Ferry tickets. They let us stored our luggage for a few days when we took our trip to Santorini.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Easy Metro ride from Airport"
Convienient location. From Airport I took the Metro to Syntagma Station. Easy to do and inexpensive. Stations announced in English. One block walk from station to hotel. Happy Train and other tour busses available at Syntagma Square. Great way to get to all of the attractions. Felt safe walking to Parliment, National Gardens, Plaka, Acropolis, Syntagma […] Square, Ermou Shopping area, etc. Room was very small but had everything as advertised. "Close to the Parthenon"
No Roof Top access. THe photo on line is misleading.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Amalia Hotel - the room with an extra cot that I had requested was ready and waiting when we arrived. The breakfast buffet had a huge assortment of foods - all delicious! My only regret was not being able to have breakfast on the day of our departure due to the early hour when we needed to head to the airport.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Everything"
We stayed a total of three nights starting May 1st. You could walk to all major sights and to restaurants. The staff was very helpful in making restaurant reservations. The breakfasts were outstanding in quality and variety.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Fantastic breakfast. Good central location for sights, metro. Athens is kind of grimy, but this hotel is an oasis from the heat and dirt. Be sure and check out the view from the roof.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay - good people"
Excellent location - right across the street from the National Gardens and Parliament building. Just a short walk from the Plaka. Breakfast was great. People were very accommodating. We have stayed there several times with our granddaughters and loved it. You can literally walk across the street and just a few feet away is the escalator to the train […] for the airport. Great way to get in and out of Athens and cheaper than a taxi. Train fare is 14euros per adult - cab fare is about 40. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Quality Hotel with Nice Location"
We stayed there for a night before going on a cruise. Clean simple room and great breakfast buffet. We could see the Acropolis from our window! We also walked to the Plaka for dinner. Coming back from the cruise and we stayed in another "4 star" hotel to be closer to the Plaka. What a contrast! In comparison, Amalia is 2 stars higher than the other […] one. Hotel was very well located. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was adequate and the staff at the breakfast hall were very helpful. Front-desk staff was helpful, but one of them always had a frown on his face. The Room AC didn't work sufficiently and we always felt warm in the room despite the airconditioning. Great hotel location-wise!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A wonderful hotel in a wonderful city"
The staff here were wonderful. The complimentary breakfast had the largest offerings I have ever experienced anywhere. Although I chose the smallest room, it was still very large and comfortable. The bathroom is much larger and the plumbing is much better than most of my experience with European hotels. It is also very quite for how central it is and […] the rooms are quite noise proof. It is within 1 block of the main square, the metro and the Parliament which made it very safe. It's also very convenient to the nicest shopping district with Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and such. Also within walking district to the Plaka which has delicious authentic Greek restaurants. Overall, I couldn't ask for a better hotel and with the reasonable rates, it was a steal. The only complaint would be they have central air and heating which means you don't have as much control as you would like. I like my room cooler and because I was there in the winter, I had to endure the central heat which was too warm for my comfort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect location for tourists"
When I arrived I was very tired. They quickly got me into my room which I appreciated. At first I thought the room a little dated, but later realize it was the carpet that made it feel that way, however, I later realized it was just the color and it was really just about perfect. Not overly fancy, but extremely comfortable room that I would love stayin […] at again. The bathroom was very modern and well maintained. The bed was so comfortable sleep was no problem. The location couldn't have been better. It was less than a block from the airport bus stop at Syntagma (or Parlament) Square. Not even a 5 minute walk in a great neighborhood. I found the breakfast buffet to be over the top. NOt only did it have what you might call an English or American breakfast foods, but also many Greek dishes and items. I didn't even make a dent in trying everything during my 2 night stay. Yes, this is the right hotel or you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable and Great Breakfast"
The room was small and very comfortable, but when you are traveling overseas that does not matter because you are not going to spend anytime in your room. They had a free breakfast starting at 6:30am. It was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. They had food for the American eater. The coolest part was the offering of a lot of traditional Greek […] breakfast foods. There were lots of unique pastries, yogurts, hot foods, and coffees. Very cool! I am a huge breakfast person and that made my day every morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Amalia hotel in Athens is convenient but the"
the rooms are spartan with very hard beds. The breakfast which is included is very good however there is no restaurant for dinner if you wish to stay in. The bathroom is comfortable with plenty of counter space and is modern. It is very convenient to sightseeing - all within walking distance. If the beds were more comfortable I could recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centeral Location, good price"
This location is a block from Zyntagma Square and Metro station. It is also right across the street from the (Olympic?) park and from our 6th floor balcony we were able to see the Parlement Building, the Park, and the Panathinaiko Stadium. The Acropolis is a 10 minute walk and there is a fairly major shopping district off of Zyntagma Square. There is […] also an "old town" about a five minute walk away that has plenty in the way of small stores and resturants. The Hotel was in a perfect location for us, and it offered free american buffet style breakfast and the room was quite nice, with a wonderful view. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great value,Great place"
I searched hard and was very pleased to find the Amalia. No elaborate service but everything you need. A good-sized room with helpful closet/drawer space. I asked for, and got, a room on the […] back, quiet side of the hotel. Never heard a sound. Comfortable bed.Very helpful front desk. Great location, just a few blocks from Syntagma. Large, well-appointed breakfast room offering a varied buffet. Not great food but adequate. Wireless connection for 5 Euros per 24 hours. TV with very limited offerings (who cares?). "Great for short stay and airport transport"
We stayed at the hotel coming off a cruise with a one night stopover. It was perfectly located. The Athens walking tour started at the Syntagma Metro station a block away. It was a 15 minute walk back from the Acropolis at the end of the walking tour through the Plaka where we stopped for lunch. And it was around the corner from the airport bus.
